Well ed. Hows things? Is Edson Braahied the only Celtic player to play in a world cup final?? God he was crap how did he get to grace the field in a world cup final.Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note -As far as I know he is unique mate.}

Said Smudger to Ally as they sat down to dine
I've just had a note from a POOR friend of mine
His name is wee Whytey
He's unloyal and untrue
And his piinochio nose is the wrong shade of blue

He said that the Rangers were right off their game
With no chance of trophies to add to their fame
By the taxman defeated
The way will be clear
For Whytey to rip off the Rangers this year

Alas for the hopes of the loyal true blues
For David Murray did not pay his dues
With the Celtic in finals
And Rangers in tears
And the Celtic winning the league this year

The most important thing for me is we dont lose any of our top players go we have a very good chance of lifting the league title this year and 12 wins in a row says there is nothing wrong with the team we have strengh and depth and most important alot of caracter hunger passion and desire about this team now i think last season we would of lost that match against st mirren but there is a more maturity about the team and will to win and belief we should just be looking to keep this group together and from now till august scout to the best of our ability for the upcoming euro campaign

Without doubt if Rangers lose the tax case, they should become a pariah in football, as they deliberately chose to go down a road that they undoubtedley knew was at least a little bit twisted, in their desperation to continue what they saw as their right to dominate Scottish football. That people are even contemplating them coming out the other side of THE biggest scandal Scottish, and probably British football has ever known, and welcomed back to the top table, speaks volumes for the lack of trust most football supporters have for the integrity of the game in our country. With the blatant connivance of the the Scottish media they have been able to keep a lid on their murky dealings while transferring ownership of the club to someone who conducts his normal business running very close to the edge of morality, while taking advantage of every legal loophole he can find. Not exactly an example of an institution learning from it's mistakes and showing every intention to clean up it's act, or put another way, behaving with utmost good faith! It's amazing how we all expect the SFA and SPL will do everything within their power to help a club that has cheated, for years, every other club within their membership and have cited what happened with a club from the home of the the most corrupt league in the world (Serie A) as an example of how to deal with Rangers should they go into administration or worse. Why on earth would any league in in the world let a club, that has made no secret of the fact they want to leave for a 'bigger' league, re-enter in the event they go bust, without making them suffer for as many years as they were able to cheat the rest of the member clubs? Whether or not the other SPL clubs would suffer financially they should all be demanding justice should be seen so that the integrity, that they claim to value so highly, of Scottish football remains intact. I'm pretty certain I know of one club chairman who would vote against an easy ride for Rangers but wonder just how many would vote for what is right and just, as opposed to what benefits, they as individuals, get from helping Rangers.

SchadenfreudeCSC

Believable9 Unbelievable3

You're bang on with that post mate.

for years we've known the SFA to be a biased and pro-rangers organisation, along with the red top rags, and only recently have these people been found out and held accountable for their actions (albeit very leniantly), it will certainly be interesting to see which road the SFA & SPL decide to go down.

personally, i'd love to see them completely shut down, wiped off the face of the earth, but i dont think that will happen, so i would want a points deduction for every year they have been known to cheat, because at the end of the day that's exactly what they've done, and the authorities should punish them in accordance with their rules

if nothing happens, or a meaningless 10 point deduction for 1 season, then the sfa are truly showing that they are incompetent and biased

i wasnt aware of this site site until last week so im going to talk about someone we missed out on a few weeks back.Rory Donnelly from Cliftonville i know Neil has a good relationship with the club as he does Q&aA in there social club at Solitude. was there any interest shown in bringing him to Celtic. also any news on the FORK UEFA banner as the hearing is today?

Ed, just been looking at our squad, its huge. You any idea what kind of wages we are paying weekly? Who is the biggest earners etc. The squad seems too big and surely we cant afford to keep it this big.

Joeshmo1888 {Ed007's Note - The wage bill for 2010 was £34.6 million. It is hard to find out exact players wages at CFC but your biggest earners will be players like Brown, Kayal, Izzaguire, Commons.}

ed what u think if it was upto me i would trim this squad a bit just to get room for an extra couple of faces would let loovens big dan cha mcginn odea samaras juarez murphy thompson alot of them i know are out on loan but i cant see any of them getting back into our squad so mibi time to let these people move on with there careers centre backs we would still have mulgrew rogne wilson and wanyama can step in there np and mathews and hopefully wilson as back up in the right back mite need a left back for cover i love joe ledley always does a good job just dont think this left back suits him get templeton zaliukas from hearts in and get russel in from d.utd who i think would do a good job fair play to big sammy been not 2 bad this past 3 month but looks to me like commins looking more like his old self in the last 2 appearances off the bench i think we could be alot strong what u think ed? {Ed007's Note - You make good points there mate. The squad needs trimmed whether players come in or not IMO.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Cha and samaras started the last league game m8, but i know what u mean, get rid of the players taking wages for nothing, and this should help towards a CF which imo is all we need to win this league
Willybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

As I, and many other posters, have said on many occasions it is very easy to say 'trim the squad' but unless we have people willing to take these players then we are stuck with them as it would cost to much to terminate all of their contrcts.

Neil Warnock quoted in the Evening Times talking about West Ham's offer for Jelavic:

"I know what Rangers value him at, but whether they get anywhere near that is another matter. I would be surprised if anybody paid that much for Jelavic. We watched him at QPR and were not very impressed.""

It just gets funnier and funnier with each passing day.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Genuine question who was the last big signing to leave Celtic/rangers & walk into 1st team football & make a big impact in the EPL?

Think rangers will be playing with fire knocked back west ham.

Edd much did jelavic cost 4? Or 4.4? Either way say rangers pay 1m a season to rapid Vienna so if they sell jelavic for say 8m. They would owe RV a couple of million plus there sell on clause %? So after all that they get 4m say ? Then whyte pockets that too lol

Lenny {Ed007's Note - The fee was £4 million, he forced it through by going on strike at Rapid Vienna.}

Alright bhoys,

All this about rangers being skint is true,but look at it this way-unlike us they have NO debt at all.If we cannot win the league this year then we are done,cause they will only get stronger guys {Ed007's Note - Although Rangers have no debt as such they have no line of credit either. Dermot Desmond has arranged a £13 million credit facility for CFC.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

What you mean a 13m credit facility ed?

Kieran bhoy {Ed007's Note - CFC have £13 million worth of credit (possible debt) to play with, this amount has been guaranteed by Dermot Desmond/the board, just like a credit check in our wee dreary world, businesses have a credit limit as well Kieran.}

Agree0 Disagree0

In a few weeks time they could be £49m in debt!

Joeshmo1888

Bhaldrick

Agree2 Disagree0

Rangers do have debt. Whyte took over the £18 debt to Lloyds so that was cleared (albeit Whyte holds a 1st ranking security over Ranger's assets in the event of administration / liquidation).

However, Rangers unaudited accounts made public by Whyte for the year ending 30 June 2011 show debt at £14m. Therefore Rangers had debt of £14m at 30 June 2011, which is unconnected to the £18 taken on by Whyte.

Some experts have loked at Rangers accounts for this period and estimate there is a further £8m debt owed to creditors.

On top of this there is the Wee tax bill of circa £3.5m and there is the £0.5k ringfenced by Bain in his court action against Rangers.

This makes a total debt from these figures of £26m.

There is also credible information that Rangers are not currently paying PAYE and NI contributions to HMRC.

It is also highly likely that with little European action Rangers have run up further debt to other creditors between 30 June 2011 and now. This is evidenced by Rangers inability to pay bills on time and legal action being taken against them to recover it.

In any event, the bottom line is that Rangers, even without losing the tax case are in a financial mess, with current debt around £26m +.

Losing the tax case would result in debt of around £75m +. {Ed007's Note - I meant that they have no workable debt i.e. a credit line with anyone, sorry.}

It is indeed silly season till the end of the month, however just to clarify some points;

Lennon has said repeatedly that he has no intention of selling any key players this month. Mjallby has came out and praised the board on this also, so any ny talk of Matthews, Izzy, Kayal, Hooper, Forrest leaving is nonsense.

We have brought 2 players in already (Ibrahim on a free; looked good in bounce games so far, Lustig) and has Fojut on a pre contract but he may also arrive this month if Wroclaw let him.

I am happy with the squad, however believe another forward is needed. More so given the recent setback Bangura has had, leaving us with Stokes, Hooper and grudgingly Sammy up front (better out left)

There are rumours aplenty that a big name will arrive, namely Luca Toni, Djibril Cisse but I doubt this. Cisse would be great though.

One name that I believe would be possible, is Pavel Pogrebnyak. His chances have been limited at Stuttgart this season and they have just signed Ibisivic from Hoffenheim. Personally, would love to see him at Celtic, solid goalscoring record, good tartget man and great pedigree. He would give us something different upfront.

As I sit here and watch the Montreal Canadiens(NHL hockey, here in Montral) I cant help but hear them play I just cant get enough as well it was being sung by the crowd in team Canada womens Olympic football qualifier game the other night. I am thrilled by this because it shows just how big Celtic is and its influence and that truly YNWA (hope some of the Southampton fans finally have learnt this and realize we are world wide!) However what I dont like is when the epl teams start singing our songs which now a days I have heard a lot and then they say the spl and the teams are s**t etc, yet they want our players/managers/songs so it seems the spl influences the epl a bit. Cant wait to see just how far Lennon can take Celtic both on the field and off. Hail Hail {Ed001's Note - you do realise that people are signing the song because it was in the charts and nothing to with Celtic whatsoever, right?}
