Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There'll be signings. Folk will moan about them and others will applaud them but there will be signings before the window closes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'll try and find out what I can tomorrow kid, I've not really been paying attention the last couple of days. We've definitely scouted Harold Moukoudi, as soon as I seen the name I recognised it, would he have been playing in a game we scouted Jean-Kevin Duverne in?}

I agree welshy, but its either live by our morals or have a leaky defence all season, granted boyata is not pique.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 22:17:42
Rather live by morals.

Agree5 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 06:49:34
Boyata will stay the season. I honestly believe its his last season, N'tchams last season, Dembeles last season and Brendans last season. BR ain't worried about the Ā£9mill lost for Boyatta or how much we pay players. His job is to get the team winning. The rest is down to PL and the Board. BR just wants as many options as he can get just like every other manager but he does need to start producing better football on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 08:38:08
We've kinda made a rod for our own back here by neglecting this situation for far too long. As much as I detest Boyata - and I will never forgive his refusal to play, we had a great chance to sell him but hesitated because the Board thought they could get more cash and there was the question of Simunovic/ Hendry's disappointing displays and the resultant leaking of goals.
This all contributed to the current situation and now we either try a speedy sale at less than we could have had for him from Fulham and bring in an untested, unknown quantity before two of our most important games or keep him until January?
Boyata's 'unwelcomed' presence yesterday, gave us the first clean sheet for seven games and the winning goal; however, I don't know if all his team mates are keen to have him back and we don't need any more distractions or moral damaging disruption.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:23:39
Regarding the Boyata situation, I think both parties have sat down and came to the conclusion that a ā€œstand offā€ wonā€™t be good for anyone and Celtic From a business point of view canā€™t really not play him. Hopefully he will be off shortly for a reasonable fee with someone else lined up.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 23:31:46
I believe Brendan has genuinely made his peace with Boyata and he could stay, possibly even extend his contract. Brendan knows the full story, we only know the version that was peddled by the Scottish media. I donā€™t believe one word these bampots write.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 20:53:29
IF boyata leaves in jan stevie, it'll be the board who have shafted us, not boyata, we should have took the 9m, win/ win.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 21:30:59
He refused to play in a Champions League tie. We lost Ā£40mil and were short at the back. Could have done with the help and the money.

It's the board AND him to blame.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:41:50
If the board had taken the 9 million before he threw the toys out the pram and we got knocked out of CL the fans would have wanted them burnt at the stake.
Itā€™s ok saying we should have took it in hindsight but manager expected him to be professional and help us through the qualifying games.

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 22:21:29
Exactly Kev I blame the board too I feel they hoped he wouldā€™ve had a good World Cup and pump his value up they always knew he would leave my issue is the fact that he bottled playing in important games for us he should never pull the jersey on again Iā€™m embarrassed he did today.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 23:24:06
People keep saying moaning Rogers hasn't been backed but it was his decision that we couldn't sell boyata at that time as we needed him.
As for playing today not happy but we needed him and it ultimately proved to be the correct decision.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 23:49:38
No ifs or buts about the board. Boyata isn't the answer at CB and the board should have had 2 CBs in LAST year.

So has absolutely nothing to do with taking Ā£9mil or not for Boyata.

We don't need to take in Ā£9mil from Boyata to spend money we have Ā£30mil in the bank.

We should have spent and got qualification but instead went cheap and lost out on Ā£40mil

The Boyata situation is a different issue and no player should be bigger than the club. Even Bertie Auld tore into him for it and he's a Celtic legend and a bigger Celtic fan than most.

An answer to both of your points. Boyata employed a guy to represent him. Be his voice and take care of his career. Do I belive that boyata was that niave that he gave his agent full authority. No. Did his agent run every piece of info past him before he ran to the press? Yes .

Did we offer a contract? Did he say offer after the WC? Its all a bit murky there. There has been confirmed interest and bids apparently. None of them guarantee first 11 apart from the Turkish teams. The PL/ champ window has closed and his options now are dust for stupid mega kpw move. Personally I view this as an embarrassment. Players by law should if they want to be allowed to run down a contract. Better players than him have done the same.

Stan aside. Should we pap him out to the reserves? Yes. President has been set already with bobo. Sign a new guy and take the hit. My only fall back is that DB wanted to go and was initially told he could and we have then said no and shifted the agreement to suit ourselves or BRs plans as he would been allowed to depart otherwise . If that is the case then BR has been backed into a corner and DB has been shafted as a result. BR rates him and wants to keep him. I can't see a way back. Cash in. Even If Its 5m.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 09:23:14
Tesla369 It wasnā€™t Boyata absence in cl qualifiers that cost us, it was our failure to score in the games against aek two games totally dominated by us. The same can be said against Sudova and in our domestic games we are just not firing up front. oldkilly.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 11:38:48
You've got to speculate to accumulate and we always drag our heels when it comes to strengthening for the qualifiers. When you think players like Boyata and co is valued at Ā£9m or more it isn't because of their performances in the SPL it's the CL that adds the value to our players.

The money was there if we got in what we needed then we could've downsized on the players that are surplus. We can't downsize before as it's clear our squad is a bit thin at the moment. The player sales could easily have made up for the outlay on signings and the Ā£30m would've been still in the bank untouched and expecting company with another Ā£40m.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 20:49:57
God knows stevie. I've already forgave him, people make mistakes, football is a job, can't blame him for wanting more Ā£.

No player is bigger than the club brendan.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:31:46
I'd get rid of Boyata and anyone else that craves the EPL greener fields, he clearer doesnā€™t want to be in paridice, we should take the best offer and buy a replacement pretty dame quick in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:51:08
Brendan he feigned injury . he cheated his manager his teammates and the fans . Will you forgive him again if he's "injured" on Thursday and we go out but doesn't get his move?

At last a voice of reason šŸ‘ drb.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 02:52:41
Iā€™ve already forgiven him! U cannot be serious? Did u see his face today when he came out that huddle, and when he scored? This clown doesnā€™t want to be here! How much more obvious does it have to be! Some people are actually saying heā€™s sacked his agent so all is forgiven!

He ainā€™t sacked his agent and heā€™s said he trusts this rat 100% the rat who said boyata would run down his contract and wouldnā€™t put his body on the line for us! Wake up and realise whatā€™s staring u in the face! Heā€™s took the manager his teammates and the fans for mugs! Incredible the excuses getting used for this diddy!

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 06:57:42
It has been a long time since l saw someone score and be as pissed off as boyata was. Look how he pushes ajer away when he tried to celebrate with him. He had a head on him like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

He has not interest in being there and all the rubbish after the game is a joke. Fine he played and scored but that's his job, that's what he gets paid for. Celtic need to get the transfer done asap and a replacement in. Otherwise the window will close with a guy who doesn't want to be there and he can sign a pre contract in Jan l think. Even if its a case of 5m then so be it. Take it and get a new CB in and stop all this messing about. This is Celtic football club one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's time to start acting like it.

26 Aug 2018 20:29:05
stevie, mckenna is league 1 at best imo, i think we won't sign anyone as boyata looks to be staying.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 20:41:11
Did someone say Boyata sacked his agent? If it's true he should maybe be given the benefit of the doubt and put the whole scenario down to bad advice from a money grabbing agent.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:05:38
I read that but its not correct. He still has same agent.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 18:59:26
Tiny, mckenna is aberdeens prize asset. So they should hold out for mega Ā£, good on them i say. Not that i rate him.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 20:21:56
I don't want him anywhere near Celtic, and certainly not for the money being mentioned. I've got this fear the nearer Friday gets we will end up with over priced dross. Would rather just not sign anyone than more players like Henry, Allan, Hayes etc.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 21:08:46
It has to be someone who can come in right away and play and that's not our model. They expect BR to improve plsyers over time so we can sell and make a profit. The boy from Forest is no better than what we have. Is McKenna any better? don't think so.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 18:33:17
sums it up really

Derek McInnes says any new bid from Celtic for defender Scott McKenna is destined to fail because the Dons will hold out for more money from England's Premier League.

26 Aug 2018 18:51:26
And why not . tt ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 18:04:54
3 points is what was needed but apart from wasteful finishing and good defending it was always comfortable. Thought when needed we defended well passed well from defence. even Gordon completed a few. Boyata as much as he should get punted steadied the ship and done a professional job despite the banner and criticism aimed towards him. Now we just need to get some faces in and move a few out and freshen the squad up before the weekend.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 18:27:44
There's no doubt about the need to improve, but it's not just a new face or two that could help; there are still a few out there that are not doing it - and underperforming against much weaker opposition.
I've no idea what is going to happen to Allen, Christie, Biton, Eboue, Benyu and Hayes over the next week or so, but guys like Rogic and Forrest need to know there are players ready to step-in if and when they continue to tread water and offer very little.
Generally, we created and missed a lot of chances, but a clean sheet was long overdue and it's better than the previous couple of games were we created very little and conceded soft goals.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 19:12:36
Didnt see the game so can't comment. Hear it was slow and ponderous? Did watch the Motherwell game. Rangers are no great side but they play like Hearts, lots of running and fight. Morales did little. Lafferty is a handful but they have a very effective left back. Great at crossing on the run. He will run Lustic ragged so we need some help on our right side. No sideways passing they run with the ball. We need to get control of the ball. If we do they have little to offer but break very fast and it really depends if we are up for the fight. If welay as we can we will win but if we go all pedestrian and allow them to throw balls into the box time and time again we will be in trouble so BR needs to get some energy into our team. If ee can get Eddy and Moussa up front we will get goals. Going forward they are good but the defence plays quite deep. In reality we should not get beaten by thst mob. Nothing great but they all give 110% and the left back is class. that's where all their attacks come from. Stop them playing there and we should be ok but we need some legs and energy or we will make it difficult for ourselves. They do play a very open game so we will get chances its about our defence coping with the cross ball. Gordon needs to start commanding the box better.

Bar some bad luck and injuries we should be sitting 4 points ahead of the tribute act going into our home game against the shame.

Hopefully we are not the only European represetatives as it would be good to see them struggle playing twice a week as they did today but I think they will go out.

As I've said previously come a week today we will see what the Calvinist belly kickers are shouting about around wine alley.

I doubt they will still be smashing their way around Europe but they will still be wrecking Glasgow's finest eateries and rest rooms Enjoy a libation on Sunday knowing we are still and always will be a class above.

Keep the faith HH.

Powder finger_ please tell me what you mean you should be 4 points infront of the gers. they played 2 away games a let in 2 stoppage time goals and celtics had livi and hamilton at home . only hard game tics had they got humped and you think they should be 4 clear of the gers . well that's a cracker 1 of the best post i've seen keep it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 06:23:26
Bijjim are you from the other side. Rangers played 3 league games. Won 1 drew 2. 5 points. don't matter when the goals go in. If you are finding counting difficult i will explain this for you. Take your shoes and socks off and count on your toes. Good boy.
Rangers have 5 points and Celtic have 6 points. If Celtic win on Sunday Celtic will have 9 points but Rangers will still only have 5.
Take 5 away from 9 and how many points are the difference. The answer is 4. There there's, that's not to difficult is it. Put your shoes and socks back on again poppett in case you catch cold.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2018 16:13:44
Johnymac your making me out a person . but if you read powder fingers post he says we should be 4 points infront of the gers BEFORE we play them . so u will count for you celtic have 6 points and gers 5 points that's the tic with 1 more . a hope this clears this wee problem you have with numbers up.

26 Aug 2018 17:25:47
Three points is three points but what's with the flat one paced side-to/ side pedestrian performances and lack of spsrk? Needs addressed because Sudova wil be up for and so will the Huns.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 17:31:51
Away on hols at the minute so didnā€™t see the game, maybe the hun game is what we need to shake us up a bit. If we canā€™t get motivated for that game there will be something wrong. For all their super start they have only won one league game. You would think they are champions the way the press build them up . Win next week nice 4 point gap from what can only be described as an indifferent start from us. Get them back in their box ASAP.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 17:45:28
Though it was very flat, I don't think it was as side to side as your making out. We had several chances that the strikers wasted.
A good number of balls across the face of the goal as well.

26 Aug 2018 17:51:59
When playing well players get on the end of those Kev and weā€™re 2-3 up just not happening at the moment.

Welshy I never said we were playing well but there was chances made that should have been finished.
Dembele missed 2 shockers
Griff missed chances he usually would have buried.
We did penetrate today but weren't sharp enough.

Neither did I bud I meant the difference between when things are going well those chances get tucked away but when your not they donā€™t.

JFP, how come your the only one thatā€™s allowed to call the ā€œhunsā€ people as opposed to the ā€œpeopleā€ that it always seems to be censored to recently. Can it not be censored to something more appropriate? Iā€™m sure we could think of some other terms for them?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2018 22:18:09
JFP 1888, of course Sudova and Rangers 2012 will be up for it, but it will hardly matter as we are definitely a better team than both . We should have put Sudova's game out of sight last Thursday .
Rangers 2012 have been made to look good in the Scottish media . Average players and even their much vaulted defence is literally falling apart just like Liverpool's Gerrard falling on his arse and setting up goal for Chelsea, so does Rangers Godson an equally stupid slip gave away first goal.
Gerrard gave away the equaliser by bringing on a sub defender for them as they faced a last second corner . That wouldn't have happened with Rangers previous youth manager Murty who would have been kept right by Wallace.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 17:15:16
well done big boyata. todays banner was an absolute disgrace. todays banner could have been aimed at the board but those cretins of the green brigade wants to keep the fire burning on boyata. yes ok he wants away he took the nip but still a celtic player and got on witn it today. so credit where its due no player of our club should be booed.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 17:23:09
Aye so letā€™s applaud a guy who clearly has no contempt for his actions the guys a rat and should never pull the jersey on again. As the banner says heā€™s not fit to wear it.

Agree7 Disagree1

26 Aug 2018 17:36:24
look i would still like to see him go and be replaced but while he plays in celtic colours he will have my support. did you applaud his goal or celebrate the goal today welshboy?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 17:39:41
It was great watching th GB giving him the finger everytime he came near them then watching the same diddies cheering when he scored.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 17:47:51
Tbh I put my head in my hands and wished Iā€™d put a bet on it. Never ever been in a situation where I donā€™t support a Celtic player my support for the team is never in question but I donā€™t want him anywhere near our team. Rodgers needs take some responsibility too heā€™s the one who hung him out to dry and rightly so but to then reinstate him baffles out of me. I have no issue with any player working their ticket but to feign injury is a no go get him tae fk.

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 17:48:36
That banner was in poor taste but I wouldn't have been applauding him either.
But I like everyone cheered when he scored.

His contribution justified his selection.

Agree4 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 19:17:11
May I make this clear every single celts fan has a right to an opinion regarding big boyata. Mine is that as long as he has the crest on his breast I'll support him. Thought the GB banner was appalling but that's there opinion. Problem I have is that the banner out shone others opinions and that was wrong. On a plus note it was my first game with my wife and kids for a while. They all had a ball and emptied there auld dad's pockets at the superstore yesterday. This is what it's like to be Celtic šŸ€.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 19:36:12
People deserve second chance, we donā€™t know full story and personally I will support him when heā€™s playing in the hoops. Plus, the defence was and is much more steady with him in it.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 19:47:46
Nice one pat šŸ‘opinions create debate which as long as healthy they can be productive. Iā€™ve made clear my opinion Iā€™m actually battling with myself over this cos I would normally tear into anyone booing a Celtic player but I feel strongly about it. Celtic crest should be earned šŸ€.

Spot on Wylie, he WOULD have made a difference in both legs. Get him out.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 18:00:20
He would be worth much less if he wasn't playing any games. I still expect him to leave and we have 1 or 2 imposing defenders brought in. A midfield dynamo playmaker going forward through the middle would be ideal. Were always trying to get it out wide on both flanks and if that's not working we pass back the way. The naysayers and the doom and gloom merchantswill be showing their hypocritical side when we qualify on Thursday and gub that lot next Sunday. Keep the Faith.

Sorry to hear the sad news Ed. My mother in law passed away 4 weeks ago. My wife is still in Ireland with her Dad, like your own wife taking it hard. There is nothing you can do apart from being there and letting her talk about he Mum if and when she wants. I'll keep you wife and your family in my prayers. God Bless.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Kev. People are entitled to moan after the window we've had so far but fingers crossed we get a result today and Thursday, get a few signings in (and a few out the door too) this week and we're good to go.}

My deepest sympathies to you and the family bud. I lost the old man a couple of years ago and hadn't seen him for a few years prior due to circumstances but it still knocked me for six as I watched him deteriorate in the hospital. I'm really close to my father in law and he's getting on a bit. Some guys can't stand their wife's parents but my wife's really took me in as one of the family making which makes it hard when they go.

{Ed007's Note - Thank you for that, Rab and I bet you're dad was really happy that you were there, God bless mate.}

I posted earlier about all the cards in the sevco game.
SILLY ME, i forgot about the "fix" being in, Thompson refereeing and them playing us next week, no way will this barsteward of a ref jeopardise his team for next week playing with players suspended.

Laffetty should have gone in the book when the Motherwell player dummied him and he took him out. He was a yard away from the ball.

OK Bhoys fill your boots

Ha ha ha it did not take Stevie Gee long to abondon his "football first philosophy"
In his team today are the "heid the baws" as we say in Glesgow
Flanagan, Halliday, Lafferty, Morelos
get your money on one or all 4 getting booked. As is the Motherwell captain Hartley a stick on for a card today.
I also have an ordering off at 5/ 2
Motherwell off 7/ 1 Sevco 7/ 1
Penalty 5/ 2
I almost guarantee these teams will not finish 11 v 11.

First time post. I've been an active reader for many years, great site with a great bunch of men with celtic on our minds constantly. My wish list for this huge week would be 3 home victories, with hopefully playing a lot better and scoring a few goals. In the transfer window i would take 3 new faces with Boyata going. I like an established centre half at least 25 years old who would have more experience than the younger guys in central defence. Who would also help them over time. My only worry with Brendan when it comes to central defenders is he wants them to be as comfortable on the ball like midfielders, as well as being able to defend strongly. These type of players cost 30 million plus. that's why i want someone who can defend first, a no nonsense defender, someone like sviatchenko, now we are struggling to get someone as good as him.2 other players a right back and also a wide player who hopefully could switch wings. l personally would take 15 million from Marsielle for Dembelle, which would mean we would need a fourth body. Apart from the big possibility that he will pull his hamstring again, he is a big game player but in Scotland we only play maybe one huge game a month. I would replace him with a Griffiths type of player who will work his socks off 4 weeks out of 5 rather than Dembele playing when he feels like it. If Griffiths finds his form we will walk the league title because no matter who we play he will give 100 per cent and score the goals we need. Sorry for a long first post once i start about Celtic i can't shut up lol.

So McInnes thinks McKenna is destined for 'bigger things' down south? Huddersfield or Bournemouth bigger aye? Reckons EPL teams will blow us out the water when it comes to offers. Sounds a touch salty and presumptuous I think.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2018 09:57:08
We lost out on mginn through penny pinching to villa . Aberdeen want more than hibs did so they don't need to blow us out the water as we won't even go in the water.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 10:02:59
The EPL clubs would blow any Scottish team out of the water. Why dispute a fact?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 10:36:23
While I realize our board has been penny pinching, what makes McInnes think EPL teams will be willing to spend millions and millions on an Aberdeen player, given the lowly opinion of Scottish football by the majority down south? What if McKenna has a poor season, they may be left rueing turning down the reported 3.5million, a huge amount for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 11:03:24
It's not even a debate; The record between two Scots clubs is probably Ā£4/ 5m and Scottish clubs are the poor relations in the British transfer market, while English top two division clubs can not only match/ better any bids we make, but offer many times our wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2018 11:11:08
True, but I still get the feeling McInnes is making it somewhat personal,

Alright bhoys, first time poster. Followed page for a few years but feel time is right to post.

Before I post I would like to thank timalloy for his vast knowledge of betting. I never knew you could bet on players getting yellow cards and I won a few quid! thank you timalloy, told my mates to follow page and keepr eye out for your tips mate.

My post is about the influence the media has on our morale as celtic supporters. I just feel they are trying to capitalise on what's going on at Ibroke to sell papers.

Chris Sutton I'm beginning to think is trying to cement a stable career as a pundit if recent comments are true. Makes you wonder if money in game compared to now, if he got another crack at EPL would he of went?

In the advancement of modern technology, news of any kind is freely available on the internet. Even public transport commuters have access to a free publication available at train stations etc. (I hope this is ok to say ed) .

The revenue they generated many years has long gone, they have to create crafty bs storys to get us on edge to sell papers and compete with what I have suggested.

Yes it is frustrating and annoying our defence problems, but regarding transfers we have not really acted any different from any other seasons prior. My personal view is we had a Plan A signings ( if we qualified for CL) and Plan B (Europa league) .

Its a crap policy because our main problem playing away in Europe has always been losing that goal that ****s us!

We are back to back treble winners, I can honestly see it being a third season. Again reference media. what actual positive things have they said about us? All we hear is this player linked away, proud of Kieran Tiernay quashing rumours.

Got a feeling though deal done for Boyata and we already have someone lined up to replace. Just got a feeling he has been told he is not going till we get replacement deal though (praying)

Sorry about rant, hope I never offended anyone. Let me know your thoughts?

Phil.

Ha ha I bet some of the regulars on here choke on their cornflakes with you saying "timalloy has a vast knowledge of betting" my bets are a standing joke on here, but like your good self I have made good money from betting on red/ yellow cards and penalties in games.
I am sure Brednan will bring in at least 1 if not more players in the coming week, so keep the faith. hail hail.
