It's actually frightening that i'm not even downhearted tonight. We have gotten used to laclusterness in Europe.

I think we put Europe on the 'back burner', as they say, after we crashed out of the CL and had our transfer windae' put-in.
No excuse for tonight though as we are still a nervous, scared team away from home in Europe and those recent CL thrashings have definitely left a scar in the confidence and belief in manager and players alike and you can see the dread and panic when we concede.
The inability to close-down opponents, tackle and keep the ball is evident every away game in Europe and we need huge improvement.
I realize we had several main players missing, but once again it highlighted the gulf between first choice and squad players - although once again a few of our regulars toiled and failed.
Obviously I expect a much better performance on Sunday, but we will have to be well up for it and take nothing for granted.

Same old groundhog day in European away games. Amateurish defending.

I got to the point long ago when I expect nothing less when we play in Europe! And I’m not just talking about the results because theyr a cert before a balls even kicked! I’m talking about the comical defending, players hiding, giving the ball away under no pressure, the total lack of self belief against any team with a bit of quality! It’s like watching the same film over and over, and each time u lose more interest in watching it again! The thing that scares me is that it doesn’t even anger me anymore. gone are the days of losing the rag and screaming at every decision or Mis placed pass, that’s all been replaced by a realism about how rubbish we really are at any sort of decent level!

School boy defending again and some on here think gamboa is a player jeez.

We will need quality additions in January (not more squad player duds) to secure the SPFL and prepare them for a July thrust at the CL qualifiers.

We brought in six players in the summer and not one was on the park tonight. A wasted exercise?

We're talking £5m guys and above needed. Preferably over £10m and no injury prone dudes that look like a bargain. This is the requirement now to be honest with ourselves in Europe.

Trying to buy £1.8m guys and hoping they will turn into £20m players is no longer a realistic strategy for European football success.

We need 11 £10m guys on the park. £110m running out to do ourselves justice.

Ten guys need shipped out pdq. Millions get frittered away every year at CFC. Quality not quantity.

It's only Europa League and our famous shirts are running out against a £300m squad. Over to you Mr Desmond.

You're obsessed with big numbers, £5 million guys?, £10 million guys?, how much did Larsson cost, or Wanyama, or Van Dyck, or Lubo, or Dembelle, or Armstrong?, you probably think we should be spending £12 million on todays version of Torre Andre Flo.

Define quality additions perfect example is Benkovic someone we wanted got on loan but someone Leicester see as a future product we simply can’t afford even the epl projects for every hit there will be plenty of misses. As a club we don’t try to compete in Europe and in all fairness I agree why try cos we can’t.

But as supporters we have too many that expect that we should. Let’s do what we do and concentrate on domestic dominance pocket any £s yhat come with Europe and keep going.
10iar for people my age at least must be the most important thing going.

It doesn't matter what we spend if we don't get the right players.

Our scouting and acquisitions have been poor since Rogers has arrived.

That is what we need to sort out.

11, £10 million guys? get a grip on reality bud.

Grey Heid in charge we will be treble European cup winners 😂.

Totally agree with Aindoh and Kev, we haven’t unearthed a “gem” since Rodgers came in. Our scouting network seems confined to premiership u21 loans, championship or SPL signings. Where are the obscure signings like Kayal, Wanyama, Izaguirre (when he initially signed) , etc. There are plenty of leagues we can tap into to get good quality players outside of the UK.

It went backwards from here:

He was out the door several months after Brendan arrived.

Bring him back, but give him bigger budget targets Mr Desmond. Open the purse strings.

Tell PL to adjust the financial strategy too.

Bhoys let's not be too downhearted about tonight's result. We were always going to be up against it with the players we had missing. The likes of Christie and Morgan have never tasted football at this level. For me Sunday's game was always the priority.

Two points from me though Kouassi will never in a million years make it as a footballer at our club and big Jozo is made of chocolate (he didn't even seem to land awkwardly yet still got stretchered off)

Anyways on to Sunday let's tear into mini deco and reach yet another national final COYBIG.

I thought Christie and Kouassi were our best players!

It's all opinions but kouassi was a passenger IMO.

I pray that Kouassi is nowhere near the match day squad on Sunday.

26 Oct 2018 00:36:22
Christie - like Morgan, McGregor and Gamboa were like wee bhoys against men and were out-muscled and bullied far too often.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2018 09:01:27
Andy are u taking the piss with that about kouassi? He was, is and continues to be utter rubbish! If he plays Sunday we lose. They will bully out of him.

What's your thoughts on Sutton leaking the line up hours before kick off? Seen on here a few times as well that the line up is leaked the day before a game. Not good if there is a mole in the camp and this surely gives opponents an advantage.

Of little consequence mate.
I think £298m v £98m is more of a factor.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 22:10:00
I also think Brendan’s player selection and formation was a big factor. Rather than it getting leaked.

We could have delivered a draw there. If Benkovic was in central defense, Lustig on Right, Mulumbu in center and Sinclair on from the start.

25 Oct 2018 21:53:47
£298 v £98 is meaningless, in these days of over inflated transfer fees, I expect the result to be reversed with interest in Glasgow.

25 Oct 2018 23:19:25
Sutton didn't leak it. He just shared what he heard.

It had been bouncing about social media before Sutton said anything.

With a few players back don't they are anything special. Just too many players thrown in. They will be better for it. Expect to beat them at home and be better on head to head. We just need a result at home to salzburg even a draw and beat leipzig.

Kev83, still being leaked though, that's my point. How many people would have guessed Gamboa, Christie and Morgan all starting? I don't think it influenced last night's result but the fact this info has been coming out all season and very rarely has in the last 2 seasons makes me suspect someone is trying to undermine the manager.

{Ed001's Note - the same thing happened when Rodgers was at Liverpool and it turned out to simply be the coloured bibs they wore in training. The team for the next game were all wearing one colour bib and so it was not difficult to figure out the team ahead of the game. Is he still doing that do you know?}

26 Oct 2018 17:34:35
Wasn't aware of that ed, will be interested to see if this is the case.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was well known in his time at Liverpool, would be worth checking out to see if that is still what is happening.}

Why on Earth are sky showing Boyata at RB and Gamboa at CB? i hope that is a mistake lol?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I worked it out as a 4-2-3-1.....

Celtic XI v RB: Leipzg: Gordon; Gamboa, Simunovic, Boyata, Tierney; Kouassi, Ntcham; Morgan, Christie, McGregor; Edouard.

25 Oct 2018 17:08:18
For me the bench is a strange one with all the defenders on with the squad we have even with injuries we could’ve a a midfielder at least there and not just defending options.

Celtic team to play RB Leipzig:

Gordon, Šimunovic, Gamboa, Morgan, Christie, Boyata, Ntcham, Edouard, McGregor, Tierney (C) , Kouassi

Going to be a long night. Then again some of Celtic best results over the years is when we have been written off. HH.

I am surprised that it isn't mulumbu. Has he picked up an injury?
