Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

I think that Celtic board members are fans of the club anyway and run the club in a professional way though we don't always agree with their decisions its the majority shareholders who have the clout and that's how it should be. to invite a fans representative onto the board would only be a token gesture and meaningless in decision making.a group like the Celtic trust with Jeanette findlay do an excellent job in bringing pressures to bear on the board from the wider Celtic family.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

You are right, a fan representative on the board would cause more problems than he/she would be worth, for the fans in general.

Alright folks!

Just wondering if anyone seen the interview with John Collins today about JG signing?
It seems to be hinging on us getting to the knock out stages in Europe, not so much about the fee. I agree with some posts on here that £3m will secure it.
I'd love a 2 or 3 nil on Thursday to make a statement to JD and others that it's not taking a chance by coming to Glasgow's green and white

The piece that I saw, didn't mention Guidetti, Collins said that our January targets would be put off if there was no European football.
Guidetti is here till the end of the season, so it should not really be an issue for him, if he signs for next season, we will be in Europe, at least at the start of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it will still be playing on JGs thoughts though Gerry, he's a young boy and they tend to live in the moment and not think to far ahead, I'm not saying qualifying this season is the biggest thought on a new contract but I bet it would have a wee part to play in how he's thinking, he's missed every European game this year and has been quoted a few times saying how desparate he is for the team to qualify so he can play in the next round. Youth Team are playing Everton in the 'EPL International Cup' KO 7pm tonight.

A real chance for some of them to show if they can cut in the first team!

Should boards be encouraged to allow fan participation at Boardroom level - absolutely NOT!

This would only bring more divisions in the support - who would be the fans rep etc? There are just too many diverse opinions.

One thing I have learned since using online forums, twitter, etc is some fans won't be happy until they're allowed to pick the team and I can guarantee no matter how much they play FIFA and Football Manager, it would be a disaster.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I agree Mrs E . Football is all about opinions, and it's very easy to criticise those that have to make the decisions . In hindsight it's easier for us to be right

Agree0 Disagree0

@MrsE Fans already have an input at board level. Lawwell has his own cleek of bloggers and brown-nosers who he meets for a cosy cuppa and chat about stuff like Res.12. and he drip feeds things that suit through these clowns.

Agree0 Disagree0

AM its one of the reasons I've said absolutely not, I can imagine the types that would be fans reps. Its one thing if the Club is a relatively small but with the size of Celtic no way will all the fans agree.

Chris totally agree, hindsight is a great thing. Its always the same and not just in football, we get folk that will criticise everything without actually putting themselves out there and giving it a go - usually through fear of failure or being criticised themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was having a wee look at the Rangers page there an seen a post about 'Fans Chief' telling them McCoist needs more time - this is just another example of it not only being the Boardroom being out of touch with fans but also these so called Fans Reps!

I know its an opinion oriented site but I never understand why some people vote a certain way for the daily polls. The one regarding refs awarding penalties etc when blatant holding is spotted. people voted against that! Amazes me. Its cheating out and out. I wonder if they also are ok with professional fouls.
Ache well, it takes all sorts to make the world go round I guess.

It's amazing how all of a sudden a certain segment on this are unhappy with the style of football currently in order under RD. what's the difference from past few seasons where there was a lot of dull performances and scrappy wins?

There's just no pleasing some people. We are top of the league, in both domestic cup competitions and stand a very good chance progressing to last 16 of Europa league. What more can you ask for? Yes, we got knocked out CL but we had a seriously weaker side due to key players being injured and no £ being invested so with that in mind I'm grateful we qualified for Europa league group stages.

Deila is doing a good job and once a few new faces are brought in to replace certain players who are not fit for purpose things will only improve.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

You say at the start of your post mate that a lot of people are unhappy with the style of football and performances on the pitch. Then go on to do what a lot seem to do and tell us how many competitions we are still in. Nobody is unhappy about the results of late and people don't have issue with it. The performances are a separate issue. I personally think your wrong to suggest that in the previous couple of years the performances were just as bad. Sure there were a lot, but not nearly as much as this season. I can't recall a time in the recent few seasons when our ball retention has been so bad and the number of players underperforming has been so many. Results are great, performances in what is an entertainment business is very poor. It costs me about £100 -£150 to take the wee man down from the highlands to watch us scrape these wins, that's a huge amount of money for a posty with Christmas coming up so I think I have the right to my opinion on how little entertainment I have seen this year.(note the criticism of the players performances and no criticism of the manager here) every game I say to myself 'today's the day we turn the corner' but it just isn't happening. I'll continue in hope though, Thursday will be the day we turn the corner. Markie

Agree1 Disagree1

Markie I disagree, last season in particular there was games where we scrapped by and were lucky to win at times. But end of the day 3 points are 3 points. There are also a lot of teams that are quite content to sit back and defend when playing celtic

It's a valid point that we are still in all competitions. A club as big as we are should be in all competitions no matter who is in charge, there is no excuses not to be.

Going to games isn't getting any cheaper and I know christmas is coming up, but again scraping by is something that has been going on for seasons and is not a new thing. I'll take any win no matter how scrappy

Agree1 Disagree0

There has been a steady drop in standards and quality for many years and a good few of us have consistently mentioned this.
We expect (and pay for) a certain style of football from Celtic where we have a fine record of creative players with flair and teams that entertain.
We are currently in a one-horse league where the standard of football is ranked very poorly by UEFA.
The situation we are in forces us to sell any sniff of real talent we have, as soon as a decent bid is suggested and the chances of building and keeping a high quality Celtic team is highly unlikely.
So to be still competing in all competitions is indeed good, but there is still a sense of unease with a lot of the support with the decline of performances and quality of squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Markie i'm afraid DN. Nobody is criticising us still being in all our cups and top of the league. So far so good in that respect. There is a masssive room for improvement though. Can count on one hand I reckon the amount of performances i've been more than impressed with. Granted I haven't seen every game. Matthews was saying the orher day we need to seriouslu up our game in the Europa. He's right, we're second - very good. But our performances haven't been great and thursday, as us the nature of football, is our most important game because it's our next game. They have real quality in attack and will give us our biggest test of the season. I'm hopeful of a point. Think it may go down to a typically nailbiting last game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry dn30 but I go to all home games and can count on one hand the amount of games this season that were acceptable for me. We can all accept scrappy games and 3 points but it's the consistency of poor displays that are alarming. It's good we're still in four competitions but I'm sure you will agree we are lucky to be in Europe(thanks legia) and have beaten hearts and Partick at home in cup which should be expected although some recent managers have failed that. I hope Thursday becomes the latest new dawn this season but it is more hope than expectancy. I hope we do sign players in January to improve us but I also have little faith in our scouts as it is far too hit and miss.

Agree0 Disagree0

DN, I know what your saying about never pleasing some folk. Sometimes I think you just have to accept this and move on.

With being in all competitions - we haven't played in the Scottish Cup yet to be out of it and we haven't won anything yet either.

I do think we'll progress in the EL and will be delighted for Ronny but (a wee moan) I still think we should have beaten Astra and qualified.

The attendances at the games are telling that fans aren't happy and like you, I can't speak for the stay aways. This is fans who have paid for season tickets but aren't using them so its not financial reasons and folk always seemed to find the cash for the CL, don't think anyone needs reminding of the queues.

I think there's a lot of factors affecting Celtic at the moment, outwith the Managers control.

Agree0 Disagree0

Markiebhoy cup defeats to St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Ross County Hearts, Clyde, Aberdeen, Morton and Inverness would suggest to me that poor performances have been ongoing for some time.In those matches we were terrible, with all due respect to those teams they shouldn't, be on the same park as us.killy.

Agree1 Disagree0

Mrs E I agree about the Astra game. Should of been a certainty.

I'm just of the opinion there are a few players in that team that could be doing with replacing such as a cb, cdm, rw and possibly competition for lb. I think once we get this addressed, the standard will pick up.

Jim1972 I have no faith in John Park to be honest. For every 1 good player, there is 3 duds and his inability to identify a striker surely calls his credibility into question. Don't get me wrong he has done well scouting likes of wanyama, forster, hooper and VVD but its wastage like bangura, pukki, boerighter, balde and juarez that make me question john parks ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone acknowledges that the SPL is of a poor standard and as soon as a young SPL player shows good worthwhile ability he wants out to a more attractive and a more financial rewarding league .
Celtic every summer transfer window sign a number of young inexperienced footballer who need to be developed .
Some of the young players develop very quickly and with the help of the Celtic coaches become first team players and are soon wanted by the more glamorous clubs in the Epl.
Others don't adopt to life and football in Scotland, stay outside the first team squad and just drift a long . Sometimes the young player's desire and determination means that with the Celtic's coaches help he becomes good . If the young player hasn't that fire in his belly, there isn't much the coaches can do. Coaches and managers cannot make players the fittest and most skilfull players around, if the player isn't prepared to go through hell to achieve it .
Unfortunately those that really push on at Celtic, demand a move to where they THINK they will be in a better place .
We are left fiddling with those who haven't that hunger .

Agree0 Disagree0

Killy great wee post to remind everyone that's slags the poor performances this year. Morton and Ross County for me where 10 times worse than anything I have seen this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beautiful post Chris02. That's the sad truth of it. It only takes a few seasons to build a cup winning side. There's hope yet.

What's last season got to do with anything though bhoys?

Agree0 Disagree0

Killy check my post mate, I said that there were plenty of poor performances in the previous years. I agree! What I was saying though was that there were far more good performances! Wish I could underline the word performances. Not results. This year I can only think of Dundee unt, Ross county and maybe hearts that I would say Celtic played entertaining attacking football, how many games have we played and struggled? It might not go down well but we are lucky to be where we are in the league, we could very easily have dropped points in some of those games we have won, and but for Gordon we might be looking at not qualifying in Europe. I'm going of from my point though which is simply we performed well in a bigger percentage of games than we are this season. That's all I'm saying and it's irrelivant of the fact we had plenty of poor performances over the last few seasons. We look very very ordinary and we look capable of shifting points in any game. And I can't see how anyone who has been watching the games can deny it. Like I say hopefully Thursday we will turn the corner and find some consistency of performance as well as results. Hh markie

Agree0 Disagree0

Performances have been poor so far there is no denying that, the attendancies and even our poll tells us that. But DN is right for once its a results business and we doing ok so far but not great. BUT, bein realistic at this point in our great history what do we expect? CL football? Yes every year given that the league is a formality.Failed. Europa league? Will take it but its a huge loss in revenue. Attendancies tell us it doesn't turn us on tho. But doing ok.League is a formaility as I said so this is the place to enhance our performance and see better football as there should be less pressure as losing a game won't hurt us. But doing ok, though the entertainment value is poor so far.Cups? Well we not started 1 yet and done ok in other but a big test next which will no doubt be labelled biggest game of the season. So all in all we doing ok, but I cudnt state we doing any better than that tho. What worries me though is our manager. Everything he says sounds good but its all about what he/the team is going to do, not what he has done. Even the posts on here say "he will come good" "he is planning for thefuture". yes that's all well and good but as we all know football is about the here and now and our biggest game is always the next 1.But I am a patient man, do I like the football on show so far? Not really but will give him time because that's what we do. For me he plays a far too open game because when the pressing doesn't work we are left wide open. Esp in Europe where we will be found out if we not playing at our best, and as other posters have said that doesn't happen too often. Is it too much to ask as a supporter for us to be good instead of hopefully going to be good sometime in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would expect us with where we are and our spending power in Scotland to be dominating most games and playing with flair and style ray, and although we have dropped our player standards in recent years that should still most definitely be happing at home and isn't. Markie

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts exactly markie.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Markiesbhoys I agree with a lot of what you're saying but I've got to disagree with you about us being lucky to be top of the league. Since the loss to Hamilton we've went on a run of winning 5 games straight, scoring 12 goals and conceding only 2. Over the last 8 games we've won 6 drew 1 and lost 1, scoring 15 and conceding 5 totalling 19 out of 24 points. That's the best form in the league and we're back at the top where we belong, I can't see how you think that's lucky. If anything we're unlucky, 99 times out of 100 with the chances we made we'd have beaten Hamilton.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't suppose that we can give credit to the opposing managers who often have a week to prepare and set-up their team to meet Celtic . Whereas Deila has usually an important mid-week match and has little time to work with players . Of course Celtic should be able to take SPL opponents apart, like they did often years ago, but quite a few now have motivated young managers who don't lie down to Celtic .

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris, jeez mate that's gotto be the worst post ever to back upRD mate. Didn't other clubs have motivated managers before. Even better than that the Aberdeens St, mirrens, Motherwells of this word had much better players. They now forced to play young players not because they great it because they cheap. There are some decent young players but they can't hold a candle to a young McFadden, Snodgrass, Mcarthur, McCarthy, Fletcher, to name a few.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman Not trying to find fault with your post but the few that you mentioned were of course good young players but as they were scattered through various different teams at different times, they didn't make much of an improvement to their individual team . Thank God most teams in the SPL are now playing more home bred players, rather than the very poor foreigners, and I think the teams are more of the same standard .

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris I think the opposition in SPFL is as poor as its been in years. My reasoning for this is we usually beat them by 25 points a season. Now its very obvious we have been in decline for a few years now and not as good a we were. So if we beat them by 25 again which is likely then the opposition must be poorer as well.
