Lets all get behind lenny now, he was not my first choice for the job but no matter who is in charge I want Celtic to win. So let's get on with it hail hail.

Woke up to the news that Lennon was given the job.
Like most i was hoping for a big name but in my heart I always knew this would be the outcome.

Each and everyone of us knows where the team needs strengthend, let's pray we invest the funds we are given wisely.

The hatred towards our club, fans and in particular our manager from across the city should forge our resolve.

This is 2019 and we are the global Celtic family.

Hi bhoys and girls, long time reader but first time posting here. I must say well done today but even if Mourinho got the job some fans will moan. Sevco fans can only dream of our recent success. Now is the time for board to back Neil with money, yes we will lose game or two more domestic but in europe i think we will be better under Lennon because Brendan won't change his tactics and play against psg like we are Barcelona or city.

This is a third rate, lazy appointment by a club with absolutely no ambition other than toward it's share price.
We won't be seeing Champions League football at Parkhead for a long time.
And if you think Lennon will be given anything other than a pittance to spend on this team you're dreaming.

Agree1 Disagree1

25 May 2019 23:32:49
Jure. It's the cynical way that it was done. They know full well that a lot of fans are against Lennon's appointment yet they announced it bang in the middle of the celebrations, they obviously wanted the cheap option and decided this was the best way to fool the fans.
I was at the match today and I was chuffed to bits at the result, however it shouldn't gloss over how poor the performances have been since Lennon too charge. Apart from the goals today we hardly had an effort on goal. This against a team who had 1 win in their last 8 games and had injury problems. If it was just today then I wouldn't be too concerned about it but it is becoming the norm rather than the exception.
2 weeks ago we never laid a glove on Sevco, before that we struggled at home against Aberdeen, Livigston, and Kilmarnock, if a team gets in our faces we don't seem able to overcome it. With the players we have we should be sweeping these teams aside.
I think we should have looked for a coach with the same Philosophy as Brendan Rodgers and just tried to continue with the style of play that the players were comfortable with. It can't be coincidence that the likes of Forrest, Rogic, and McGregor haven't played nearly as well in recent weeks as they had done earlier in the season.
I know it looks a very negative post on a historic day for the club but the cynical way this was done has left a nasty taste in my mouth and I just hope it doesn't do us a lot of damage come next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2019 23:53:22
I agree with islogreen, Lawwell has trousered the £9mill competition we got from BR, and now set our targets to our nearest domestic rivals rather than European qualifiers! Disappointing appointment but not unexpected!

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2019 09:39:30
Tiny tim that is exactly why those cynical gets announced it hours after the final whistle.
I'm not falling for it, this is a shockingly small minded appointment, and I'm not sticking my fingers in my ears and pretending this is all great.
Rangers hate Neil Lennon, yet they are all celebrating him getting the job more than we are?! Because they have eyes just like us and can see that we are regressing.
I'm saying it now, we aren't getting through these qualifiers, because it's getting harder and we're getting worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2019 22:05:08
That announcement has ruined today for me.

And the club were well aware of how we all felt about this. In pretty much every scenario you would see “Neil Lennon has signed a 1 year contract” for example, the club wouldn’t normally release anything until a contract is signed. They wanted to get this information out as quickly as possible, hoping people used the cup win to gloss over the poor appointment. So quickly that they couldn’t even wait until a contract is signed.

This is a very poor decision and anyone who convinces themselves Lennon is the best we could get is delusional.

That's the game, good to see everyone taking a positive attitude and getting behind the new manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2019 03:01:53
Can’t believe the response to this. Lenny was my first choice but I can understand that some of you wanted a flashy ‘big name’ manager. That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. What I don’t understand is the negativity towards the appointment now that it’s been made. This is Celtic, he’s the manager, get behind him.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2019 06:33:00
COYBIG, I’ll get behind Lennon 100% as I would’ve whoever got the job. The problem I have with this is Lennon left 1st time round because of frustration with the board and signings etc, what makes it different this time around? I just hope before agreeing to take the job Lennons stood his ground with lawwell etc and got certain assurances that he will be heavily backed in the transfer market. Watching that game today AGAIN another lacklustre performance. Absolutely delighted we got the treble treble but on the performance, it was shocking again. This team have been magnificent past 3 seasons especially, but a blind man can see they’re on their knees and in desperate need of freshening up. Let’s hope that happens, because it has too. and no more 3 day piss ups for the players before rangers games.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2019 07:05:32
If Lennon changed his name to Neilliho franscicus lennoniho and had never managed a team before these clowns would be jumping through hoops

Lennon delivered before, shoved the rats team and tactics over the line for another treble and will deliver 10inar.

26 May 2019 08:15:27
Gerry, I don’t know what makes it different this time round but let’s not prejudge it, let's wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2019 09:45:00
Yeah because Brendan Rodgers has a fancy sounding name doesn't he? Martin O;neill? No it's a manager with a European class CV we wanted, not a fancy name. To the same extent, if they had announced Teresa May as the new manager some clowns would be demanding we get behind it without question.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2019 09:53:51
People are saying they are disappointed with the appointment of Lennon. The guy came in when Rogers jumped ship at the first chance and he managed to get over the line in the league and won the cup. What more can he do? Think he deserves a bit more credit. Yes it's not the big fancy name we were hoping for but the last one left us high and dry in 24 hrs. Regardless of who the next manager was going to be before the announcement was made, unless the board back him it doesn't matter who they are. Lennon is now in charge and needs to be backed. He always said this wasn't his side so let's see what he does now.

Well, so it's Lenny. Not so bad.
Now, as Sutton says, it's all about recruitment.
We definitely need some dynamism in the team. Everyone seems to have lost their pace. Rogic, Sinclair, Forrest, even Johnston and McGregor, all seemed slow and ponderous. Unusually, paciest breakthrough was made by
Broony 😂
Need pace asap.

Great achievement today for everyone connected to the club, I have to say though to go 27 cup matches without defeat is quite remarkable and great credit to the players for their attitude and mental strength to pull it off.
Well done Hh 💚🍀

So to wee Lenny he said from day one that he wasn't going to change much to change an already winning formula that the players were used to, which is fairly obvious he didn't. He maybe tried to mix it up a little and asked the guy's to perhaps get it forward a bit quicker which at times worked and at times didn't. The bottom line us he came in and made sure the players stayed focused to do the job in hand so fair play to him for that.
Moving on to next season, he will move a few out and bring a few in I have no doubt. With some hard work pre-season ( and no world cup or euros ) i am quite sure we will be energised for the new season and the march to our second 9iar ( also never been done before )
We have the nucleus of a good squad with some really exciting youngsters coming through, get the summer recruitment right and we will be good to go, no drama lads.

THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE CELTIC 💚🍀 Hail Hail

Enjoy the moment lads.

A point I forgot to mention in above post was that the way Lenny had Hibs playing earlier in the season on a fraction of the budget he will have with us suggest he maybe isn't as tactically naive as some people think, they were probably the best team to watch at CP this season in the 4-2 game and when the beat us at Easter Road 2-0 they were excellent on the break.

Regardless of anyones thoughts imagine this. Lennon walking up to pick up the ten. Imagine that. Unbelievable thought good luck to him. Fully back him. He hasn't changed anything since he came in so let's get behind him.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

25 May 2019 21:25:47
He did change things though.
He started going longer with the ball and bombed out one of our most effective attacking players.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2019 21:33:01
He has gone a bit longer but you can see today fel the side to side stuff that Lennon doesn't have the team playing fully like he wants.

A good preseason and I expect everyone to be focused and a coherent plan in how to break the other 11 teams down. League is all that matters the next two years. He knows the SPFL inside out.

Agree4 Disagree1

25 May 2019 22:38:07
With Lennon being appointment, the only way we will get near the 10 now is using our imagination.
I don't even know why he was brought in, he said he would lean heavy on Kennedy and Duff and wouldn't change anything.
If that was the case then we should have let Kennedy take over until the end of the season.

But it was going to be rafa. Only manager of any note openly putting their hands up, that I seen, was bilic, maybe there was countless other big names that we wanted or wanted us but it didn't happen but well never know who or why not as the clubs stance will always be that lennon was the only man for the job. Realistically I struggle to believe had he failed to deliver the league or cup that we'd have suddenly been motivated to recruit a better manager. Sure it hasn't been great but it's his gig now and exciting times ahead.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 May 2019 20:16:16

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2019 20:53:56
Deep down I believe the Board would have gone elsewhere if the treble treble had not made the decision for them.
It has been mentioned on here that NL is not an overwhelming favourite with the board and some players are not big fans of his management style, training methods or tactics?
However; when you ask a guy to do a job - under extenuating circumstances, pressure and turmoil - and he delivers, it's almost impossible to sack/ replace that man without losing some credibility.
The new mature Lennon will be well aware of the mixed feeling and concerns that greets his appointment and has to answer his critics with improved performances, quality additions and continued success.

I can't understand it. If Lennon was always going to be the first choice why wait. Why not give him the job straight away. This does smack of the cheap option. This upcoming transfer window better be a belter or Lawell will not be forgiven.

Neil Lennon was never my first second or even third choice for manager but he is the manager now whether we like it or not my only hope is that he gets backed in the transfer window and starts to make changes to the style and formation I think most of the teams in Scotland have figured out how to stop us playing for the most part and now the treble is done hopefully he can change it up a bit and make us less predictable big transfer window coming up.

25 May 2019 19:20:57
What a day!

Emotional is an understatement.

Fair enough we didn't play our best but the players on the pitch got the job done. Hearts played better than I thought they would.

A treble treble. A fantastic achievement which probably won't be fully appreciated until we look back on it in years to come.

The thing I loved the most about it was how much it meant to the players, in particular Lustig and Broony. Big Lustig was a broken man at the end. I really hope that's not his last game for us.

Lennon wasn't my first choice for manager but seeing him lift the trophy and listening to him after the game leaves a lot of me glad he got it because one thing that is for sure is no other candidate has the love or passion for Celtic that he does. I hope the board back him in the transfer market to take us forward.

After such a high the news of Lennon is not what most expected. For me the question is have the club done interviews on others? Have we even explored options? It’s a shame to think this may have been decided after the emotions of a treble treble. Company don't have to do interviews to decide whether most applicants are the person they want for the job . Ability to interview well isn't necessary a requirement for a good manager . Scrap that no manager craic tonight. According to PL he was the 'only candidate'. Well Peter, I have a list as long as my arm of better managers. This is exactly why you shouldn't be making footballing decisions. But the mans in now. Good luck Neil.

Malkybhoy, Calm down, the season hasn’t started yet and you have fell out with Lawwell on his 60th birthday and you’ve kissed goodbye to 10 in a row.
Why don’t you see how it goes next season before being a defeatist before a ball has been kicked.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2019 19:28:07
Get a Grip Malky, the ones who thought we could get Jose, Rafa or AVB really need to get back in the real world. It was always between Lenny and Moyes, this is the SPFL we play in. I remember the 90s and it was painful. What a stupid comment “forget 10 in a Row”. We all get behind our manager and our players, the players are happy with the appointment and he should be given everyone’s full support. Hail Hail.

On sky sports Lennon had been offered the job.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 May 2019 18:23:23
I would be happy with this. With 10 ina row Lennon knows the club and loves the club. He would want it more than any one. In his interview after the game he spoke about our slow play, that he said he hates. We are still playing the br way. So if it is true that Lennon has the job we need to get behind him and hope the board those too.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2019 18:24:28
Well I for one am not amused by this appointment.
Board have gone for the cheap option again.
Yes I know he's a Celtic man, blah, blah, blah, but bitterly disappointed.
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong next season, but gutted right now.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2019 18:30:19
Eh lads who would you all realistically think would come to Celtic and Scottish football and do a better job? How many trophies has Neil Lennon won as a manager a Celtic manager. he is who I wanted and I am delighted he has the job as I feel are the players! 🙂🍀🏆🏆🏆.

Agree1 Disagree0

Board have tried to pull a fly one announcing today as well, thinking there will be no backlash from it.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2019 18:36:42
I can see why they offered the job to him after answering the call; pushing on for eight in-a-row and securing the cup/ treble.
The quality of football however, has been well below par and performances have been lacking fluidity and goals - although it could be said the seasons events and injuries may have taken their toll? Honestly, the appointment does not fill me with anticipation and excitement and it probably won't fill opponents with fear and dread.
However, now is the time to celebrate another historic event and superb achievement - delivered by determination and the winning mentality that sets us above the rest and hopefully will continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2019 19:21:46
To be honest didn't really care who got the job and the only thing i hate about the appointment is that it has really divided the support and seems to be more favourable to rangers supporters than celtic supporters. When Neil leads us to the 10 we can thank them for all the prayers and sacrifices they offered up to get Neil the job.

Today's game was hard work. But it would have been painful to lose out on an unprecedented record at the last hurdle. Like today, there have been other games that have been a slog. It just sinks in how much effort and test of mentality such an achievement takes. History says we probably won't see this again. The manager craic from me can certainly wait tonight. NL, the team, an all you bhoys can enjoy tonight. I'm off to the bar for a treble treble.

Not sure the Eds allow links but the following remarks, from Virgil Van Dyck, are worth sharing. He's always lauded the team and its supporters. Bet he and Andy will be watching the game today somewhere in Liverpool.

"Van Dijk played 62 games for Groningen but his career took off when he moved to Celtic. He laughs when asked about the change of culture in Glasgow. “It was massive. I spoke quite good English but the Scottish accent is totally different. I remember in the beginning people were talking and I was just nodding and saying yes. But going to Celtic was fantastic for me even if it was the same situation I had in Holland. [Bigger] clubs doubted my ability because they thought the standard was not so high in Scotland. I kept working hard and I always believed in myself. And the fans at Celtic are amazing. They live and die for their club. That’s something I love – real fans, real passion. " (Guardian)

Listening to NLs interview on Sportscene left me perplexed and cocerned that he is not the person for the job.
My reasons were this; he has continully ststed that this is not his team, not playing his type of football and therefore wholesale changes would be needed for next year.
Does that mean Bain, Simunovic, Ajer, Teirney, Brown, Macgregor, Christie, Rogic, Forrest, Edouard, Griffiths, and Sinclair would have to be replaced.
13 players who have been the rock of the team over the last 3 years.
We have seen the chaotic comings and going over the last 8 years from them who shall not be named.
Whilst we have built on consistantcy.
I agree that some additions are nesseccary I disagree that root and branch change is required and by his comments he was saying that these players do not want to play his way.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2019 09:07:33
No that's not what he said at all. People really are talking absolute rubbish at the moment. He meant he didn't want to change style and system so late in the season. he was brought in to get us over the line and continuing Brendan's style was the safest way to do that as everyone knows that way. If Lennon gets the job formation and style will change. he's not going to get rid of the whole squad.

The thing that irks me about lenny lately is the constant harping on about Brendan this and Brendan that! This was and is his chance to come in and say rite Rodgers led us this far but now I’m the man! It’s my turn to lead us and i’ll Do it my way! See this I still fone Brendan before every game crap it’s really starting to get on my nerves! Al be half expecting rodgers to make an appearance today at this point! This is why in my gut i know we need a fresh approach when it comes to a manager! Add some quality in the summer with a new manager and fresh ideas, let’s push on for 9 and 10 and not have this I need to fone this guy and that guy for ideas! Am telling u rite now by the way, and I say this loving what lenny has done for our club as player and manager! But if he’s given the gig full time I see it ending in tears honestly! The place will be flat as a pancake if he’s announced in the coming days! Just my opinion lads and I’m sure a few will say I’m talking rubbish! Lol! Just the way I feel! Let’s go out today and take care of the wee huns and enjoy a momentous occasion! Then get some fresh blood in for next year! Hail hail COYBIG! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀.

Well Thank God in about 18 hours the Cup Final that seems not to interest so many Celtic fans will be over and done .
We can in 18 hrs sit down, if sober enough, and discuss all possible possibilities for our new Manager . Winners and failures from various parts of England and Europe and further afield are all in the field . At the end of the day it will likely be Moyes or Lennon .
MSSM has built up the hopes of the gullible only for big bad PL to destroy the hopes . we are reminded almost daily about this summer's transfer window is the most important ever . Funny I can't remember one that wasn't . We will have some joy and much disappointment all through the window

Tomorrow's match will be very tough, our defence is usually very tight, although Bain has been beaten a few times recently . If we don't make a mistake (s) at back we should be able to get a goal or two and win our treble treble.

I think what OMC is saying is that amongst the constant speculation about transfers and managers over the last few days, it’s actually quite hard to find the posts that mention the cup final or the possibility of a treble treble. That would suggest they’re more interested in the speculation than they are in the actual football. There’s something strange about that. I can genuinely say I have no interest in the transfer window or the next manager at the moment as I just want to enjoy one of my favourite days of the year, cup final day. Hopefully, we’ll pick up the trophy and we’ll celebrate and then once the dust has settled, I’ll wait for an announcement from the club.

I very much feel there has been far too many repeat posts re our next manager, playing into hands of MSSM who always wants to divide and cause upheaval amongst our support . I make no apology for preferring to discus forthcoming SCF week before final. .
The people who have spent the week talking about new manager and players, will be the very people, who God forbid should Celtic lose, will spend next week having a post mortem on result . I have heard some who want Celtic to lose to make sure Lennon didn't get job.
