Hi Ed, are we looking at Jaan Arp? and do you know if we'll sign him? never heard of him but looks good, and he's german.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of, Brendan. Bayern Munich were quoted 10M Euros for him and are thinking it over as his contract is up next summer and they might leave it to then, but with Hamburg being relegated the player would rather move this summer and I'd imagine Hamburg will want to sell in case his value goes down playing in Bundesliga 2.}

25 May 2018 20:30:58
Ah, well that's definitely a nope for 10M! He's german though and will probably grow up amazing player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He's one of the most highly rated youngsters in Germany.}

26 May 2018 17:34:00
He may be one of the most highly rated players in Germany, but is he humble enough to settle down and put in a full shift in Scottish Football in all types of weather.

He's German Chris their weather isn't much better than ours.

OK fellow Tims/ Timettes
Is it only myself that is worried about Lustig and Rogic in particular going to the World Cup, firstly both have well documented injury problems and will require a decent rest before coming back to us.
This will mean missing most if not all, of our CL qualifiers and may also result in them missing games in the SPFL.
Then there is the problem of one or both picking up niggling injuries because of fatigue.
I hope I am worrying un necessarily.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Rogic is a certainty to come back from the World Cup injured.}

25 May 2018 12:38:03
ED007 that was why I posted, hope we are both worrying for nothing and both come back ready to play their parts in our treble treble.
If any player, not just ours, gets injured playing in the World Cup, do FIFA still pick up the bill for his treatment and his salary until he recovers? Cheers in advance for your input.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Since the last World Cup in Brazil - and after a campaign started by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge when Robben got injured in South Africa in 2010- FIFA and UEFA compensate clubs if a player is injured in a World Cup or European Championship tournament, but not in a qualifier or a friendly.
Before that it was up to individual FAs to have insurance for players, some FAs did and some didn't bother.}

25 May 2018 13:07:07
Aye rogic is a big worry for me too. I can't see Australia managing him the way Rodgers does, he'll play every minute possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And so he should, if he's not fit to play the amount Australia want him to he shouldn't be there. It's not a worry for me, Steph, I wholly expect him to come back injured which will impact on his preseason and then his problems will roll on for most of the season and the excuse will be that he was at the World Cup and he didn't have a proper preseason.}

25 May 2018 13:20:44
Aye they're well within their rights but it might backfire quickly and scupper any hopes they've got of getting out their group. Out of interest who have they got? Selfishly I hope they go home early.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2018 13:43:47
Ive never liked the way the Aussie's handled Rogic in the past. They have flown him over while he was recovering before and set him back. Thier track record on this is shocking.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - In that case all he had to do was pull out of the squad and provide adequate medical evidence so it's hardly Australia's fault. Read back and you'll see how often Rogic talks about how much he looks forward to meeting up with the Australian squad, maybe it's his own fault for declaring he is fit to meet up with the squad.
It's another example of why I hate any Celtic player being called up for international football, if I was Rodgers I would be telling him after this World Cup he should forget about international football and concentrate on getting fit AND staying fit for Celtic, that should be Rogic's main priority.}

25 May 2018 15:18:56
the negativity about rogic, the best player we have, on this page is ridiculous, give the guy a break.

Agree15 Disagree1

25 May 2018 17:13:14
He gets plenty breaks James
He get m about half the season of and then he gets the last half hour of almost every game he does manage to play off.

Agree0 Disagree13

25 May 2018 17:19:17
๐Ÿ˜‚ kev, that's exactly it. Really hope he gets the majority of next season under his belt. We'll never get 90mins out of him every week, he just doesn't have it in him. But here's hoping he has no injury lay offs otherwise we'll really need to look elsewhere. CAM is arguably the most important position in the team.

Agree0 Disagree11

{Ed007's Note - We only need to look to Callum McGregor. I'd start him every week over Rogic in the No.10 role.}

25 May 2018 17:56:35
Rogic will be fine . Calm doon. :)

25 May 2018 19:10:30
New poster here. Normally just read posts, but got a bit upset with the posts re Rogic. Great, great player. Joy to watch, so I'm with Jamesbhouy, too much negativity. That does not mean I don't rate Calmac. He is also a great player and improving all the time, but Rogic, I think, is an artist. Registered just so I could say that. Cheers everybody.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry we upset you, are you OK now?}

25 May 2018 20:14:34
Is Rogic our best player though, I was thrilled when he signed on again, but best player? not in my opinion, I don't think we have a best player, the squad as a unit are playing good football (most times) KT, Calmac, Broony, griff etc etc, even Armstrong on his day is right up there! But I wouldn't like any of our players to get injured, even though I do think we will cope if Rogic or anyone get injured.

Agree0 Disagree7

25 May 2018 20:15:47

{Ed007's Note - I hope he's OK.}

25 May 2018 23:57:40
im sure he recently completed a couple of 90 minutes, the guy gets rested, because the game is won, and rodgers protects him from hammer throwers what's the big deal? the guy is also being nursed back to full fitness after being unlucky with injuries, give it a rest kev you're like a broken record.

Agree6 Disagree0

26 May 2018 00:44:32
what games are you watching kev? are you serious? he's our most attacking threat after moussa.

Agree6 Disagree2

26 May 2018 08:23:30
Glad he signed a new contract but Rogic our best player gies peace. If he doesn't play we can fill his role with 3 or 4 players but if Broony is out we are a different team. Let's be realistic guys please. On a brighter note I am really confident that new exciting players are on the way. The target for Brendan this year is more European progress. HH 3 to go till 10 in a row.

26 May 2018 11:12:29
It's difficult for a player to turn down the chance to play for his country.
Getting capped and the recognition which goes with it also enhances the player's experience and value. Not to mention the success and enjoyment for his own supporters. (If being honest, we Celtic supporters love to see one of our own players perform well for his country)
That said, players have a duty to their main employers as well and they have to consider this when agreeing to play internationals.
Case in point, Rojic, does injure easily and he is not getting younger so he has to consider his long term career versus occasional international caps. He also has to consider his long term health and what condition he will be left in after playing.
In his position, I would now be considering calling it a day on my international career.
re. compensation. If an International Association does not adequately insure players chosen to play for the country then the player's club should be entitled to withdraw the player to protect their own asset and interests.
for those who feel we are attacking Rojic and that the player gives a lot of pleasure and strength to the team. Not many will argue that but, he can't do that if he is injured.
just my tuppenceworth on the subject.

25 May 2018 20:24:53
Ed, sorry to dig this up as i know it was a post in recent weeks. Can you display the minutes and game comparison between rogic and another of our regular MF players. Can't recall who it was.

For the record, like most i love the guy, talented individual with great ball control and long distance shooting. However; he is a passenger most of the time which we can afford domestically but not in Europe. We need big players all the time like Broony, not just now and then.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The figures were only up until the end of March, Shug. I'll update them later but here's the ones I had put up:

-----------Games----Mins-----Avg. Mins---90 mins---Goals----Assists.
Rogic--------32-----1929--------60----------11---------5--------8
McGregor---45------2951-------65----------22---------8--------8
Sinclair-----45------3261--------72----------24---------17-------15
Forrest-----49-------3374-------68----------18---------16-------6

26 May 2018 12:30:03
James He plays less games than the rest he plays less full games than the rest and has less goals and assists than the rest.
Like ed007 has pointed out many a time Sinclair in what many labelled a bad season out performed rogic at every level.

Agree0 Disagree3

26 May 2018 17:40:04
Ousting hasn't now got the reputation of been a sick risk . It must be three seasons now that Lustig has competed without missing many games .
The good thing about Rogic is that although he can be devastating at times, he also goes through games where he is anonymous . If it were the later we would have to do without him even if there were no World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2018 23:32:12
Rogic will hopefully come back fit and well. Calm down Bhoys donโ€™t worry about things you canโ€™t control.

Thought on re-signing Ki read on line we have started talks as it was Brendan that took him to Swansea I always liked him brilliant passer of the ball but imo we don't need him right now unless we sell a few midfielders.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - But Rodgers didn't sign Ki for Swansea, he became Liverpool manager on 1 June 2012 and Ki signed for the Welsh club on 24 August 2012. It was Michael Laudrup who was the Swansea manager when Ki signed for them.}

25 May 2018 13:11:27
Rodgers probably identified him as a target tho ed, u know how long these deals take to get over the line.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers had nothing to do with Swansea buying Ki, Liverpool (Rodgers) signed Joe Allan and Swansea signed Ki to replace him. David Leadbeater (Swansea's DOF) and Michael Luadrup were the architectsof Ki's move and it was nearly 3 months after Rodgers left Swansea that Ki signed. Brendan }

25 May 2018 14:14:55
Thanks ed didn't know that and neither did the pages I read it off would you take ki back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No. I seen Phil Mac mention this the other day and the tone of it was that Rodgers had been at Swansea with Ki so I went and looked it up.}

26 May 2018 17:42:50
Ki was a very good servant for Celtic when he was with us, I am not sure he has the body strength or mobility to lay in our midfield today.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2018 11:05:39
Exciting times for us tims Peter giving an update to Celtic underground and as well as the pitch there's loads happening to the stadium.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2018 12:08:36
its on the park im interested in, the money they are wasting could buy us a decent centre half or keeper.

Agree8 Disagree3

25 May 2018 12:29:09
James he was also saying that team strengthening will be done as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The money getting spent on the pitch and stadium etc has absolutely nothing at all to do with any transfer budget Rodgers has been given.}

25 May 2018 12:57:47
Even better ed a think stadium improvements are great as long as it doesn't impact on the playing side.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They're totally different budgets, Mally. What would you say to someone that suggested we should we just have fitted a pitch like Accies or Kilmarnock to save money on groundkeeping costs and put it into the transfer kitty, or the safe standing and big screen money should have been invested in the team?}

25 May 2018 14:02:14
A club our size needs to keep improving the stadium and the like ed brendan was already critical if the pitch this season so this new pitch should benefit us no end.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Exactly, it's ludicrous to suggest that every penny any club makes should go towards the transfer kitty.}

25 May 2018 14:08:44
Ed anything on another standing section? Hearing the GB want one opposite end of North stand. Atmosphere would be out of this world.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Was that not another set of fans that wanted that done? I don't know of any plans to do it.}

25 May 2018 14:28:40
Possibly Ed. Was meantioned cup final day but mate seemed to think GB behind it. Fingers crossed, any group would be good.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd prefer - now we don't need to give TGU their usual allocation - we turned the entire LL stand into a safe-standing section like Dortmund's South Stand Yellow Wall.}

25 May 2018 15:21:10

25 May 2018 15:44:25
Ed that would be marvelous. What a sight on Euro nights place would be shaking.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It would be class.}

25 May 2018 15:59:23
So if the parks crap and it impacts on how well we play and the big screens don't work and the roofs are falling down none of us will mind and won't complain. Aye right.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2018 17:25:17
Getting a semi on thinking of the whole Lions stand standing like the 'yellow wall'. The 'green screen'. The rebel rampart. The provo parapet. It would take some shuffling and there would probably be a few disgruntled ST holders but it would be some spectacle.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 May 2018 18:12:29
You want to claim to be a massive club you have to act like one.
Good stadium and facilities are very important.
Would you rather go back to the days when our stadium was a dive and our players train at barrowfield?
Ed I'd love most the stadium converted to safe standing and just have a section that's seated for people that want to sit or need to sit.

Agree1 Disagree5

{Ed007's Note - I don't see them doing that but we can always dream, Kev. Imagine extending the South Stand and having that as the seated area and corporate etc and the other three stands were all safe standing :-o

Agree1 Disagree1

26 May 2018 01:25:07
Jamesy u can be relocated to the south stand mate if u don't already sit there. Surely there can be a vote with season ticket holders to see if they would rather sit or stand then sort it out accordingly.

Stan do they not change the standing area back to seated for European nights? I agree in principle tho, it would be magic!

You are just as likely to waste money on buying a centre half, than making necessary improvements to stadium . It unlikely that ยฃ5 m spent on stadium will have lost 80% of value over a yr or two, could happen with a ยฃ5 m defender who doesn't fit in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone on here know roughly how many people would be on the waiting list for the new season tickets, I went onto the waiting list for my daughter and myself in December, with the Huns cutting out allocation and us doing the same to them, it will obviously create more availability . Also can you still pay them off in instalments or does it have to be a one off payment?
Thanks.
