Ed, what's your views on john mcglynn joining the backroom staff as technical analyst?

Think it's a good idea.
Knows Scottish football inside out.

I read somewhere that probably Brendan Rodgers biggest weakness was saying up the opposition's strengths and weaknesses and getting his team to react .
From what I am told this man is very good at knowing opponents .
This has to be good for Celtic and I think it speaks well of Rodgers
Of course time will tell, but IMO what has happened in his career beforehand is relatively unimportant if he has learned from his mistakes.

This Croatia Portugal game has got to be one of the worst av ever seen. With all the talent on the field they canny even create a chance never mind get a shot on target. Truly woeful.

The whole tournament has been one of the worse I've seen! Bar a couple of games it's been really poor stuff!

Agree5 Disagree1

26 Jun 2016 09:50:46
Spot-on Beav81; the vast majority of the games have been a very poor standard, considering these players are the best in their positions for their country and the playing conditions have been ideal - most of the time.
Add to that, the disappointing form of most of Europes top players and the tournament - so far, has been red-rotten.
Unfortunately, all to England - and their lucky manager's advantage, as they have had nothing to beat so far.

Far too many teams and average ones at that.

Just a joke that 3rd place teams from a group of 4 can qualify.

Not Celtic related but Cantona, will there ever be another. For never being a Man united fan Roy Keane and Cantona are shoo ins to my hall of fame.

TTTS Cantona was one of my favourite players growing up. Always remember being 11 and going to hospital to meet my wee brother for first time. Photos of me holding him as a baby wearing man utd top with cantona trademark, collar turned up lol.

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Jun 2016 23:03:17
Both tremendous players . Give me a Roy Keane any day though. Without question for me the best midfielder I've ever seen . I'm 36 now, and I've never saw a more complete midfielder . My dream midfield would be Keane with Zidane beside him.

What has cantona ever done in Europe he was pisshh Keane leader Turin? Cantona and his collors ehh.

Also a striker that's never hit 20 league goals in a season his whole time with all his clubs wouldn't and couldn't lace henriks boots.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jun 2016 00:15:02
I've recently (5 weeks ago) just had a baby, and his middle name is henrik. Not comparing larsson to cantona, both fantastic players but I'd never say cantona wasn't a player . I wouldn't even bother comparing them . What's the point? Both trememdous players . Never get this comparing players . Enjoy them all I say.

{Ed007's Note - Did you tell us about that? If not congratulations on the new addition, Bobby.}

Cantona and Keane are both excellent, if you like that type of character.

25 Jun 2016 15:04:33
One player I've been impressed with in the euros is Jeff Hendrick. I know I shouldn't base a player on a couple of performances, but seems a good player and has a good amount of experience at Derby. I know we haven't been linked with him, but it's only a matter of time before MSM links us lol
Has anyone seen much of the lad? Also Shane Duffy presumably is just paper talk?

Neither adds quality, Duffy if anything reduces it.

No I can't but fed up with everyone wanting to sign Irish players when there simply nothing better than what we have.

Duffy is he better than Ambrose, Christ who isn't? But not the others
Hendrick may well be better than Allan but not the rest

We need quality to improve, not more decent players

Chris your one of them fuds " oh must be a closet Blackburn fan " how do you work that out?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2016 09:40:51
Hendrick is a quality player. He has that hunger in games that many players lack.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2016 15:33:06
IT is difficult to understand some of our reasoning IMO, we may have went big In employing a much higher rated manager but we haven't immediately got the spending power of any EPL club .
We have to buy players of the value of Duffy and Hendrick . The task of our management team is to spend its limited funds on players who will fit in and do a job for us . We won't be spending a net £10m IMO and I don't thing individually any of them will set our pulses alight .
Hopefully B R and his scouts get a good return on their money.

Surely Celtic Football Club will shoot down the motion of playing the mob on foreign soil. zurely good sense will prevail. Imagine the reputation of our great club being dragged through the mud by the savages that have left a trail of destruction behind them on the occasions they have been let beyond Hadrian's wall

Well managed to get all my wee jobs done this morning and get home just as the marching band started off on they're journey to our town centre disrupting everyones peace n quite .
Yes i'm talking about the yearly scottish orange walk that this year that's being held in falkirk .
Ive always said let people get on with things if that's what there into aslong as its not interfering with my life . Well considering falkirk council decided to part fund the road closures and let them congregate at historical callander house it mist certainly is impacting on me, the most annoying thing about these walks why do the dreggs all come out to watch it . its bad enough when you see your friends you grew up with taking their kids to the kerb side to watch it all but why do they feel the urge to put the rangers tops on? . Like a lot off people on here i have relations who wereconbected to the orange order and i respected there views on life in general considering it was my grandfather and uncles . the one lasting memory i have was them explaining that at the start everyone had to be christened and an acting participant in going to church on a sunday etc nobody wore football attire off any kind and once that became the norm for these marches my family came out off the lodge as a matter off principle they always kept their views but never spoke about them when we were young, now on a good note the rain has started to fall and thunderstorms are predicted so all is not lost lollol.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed007's Note - So your relations thought it was ok to walk the streets promoting hatred, bigotry, racism and sectarianism not to mention celebrating the murder of innocent people as long as nobody was wearing a Rangers top?
You're relations were still bigots and part of the problem, how do know they still kept their views if they never spoke about them? It seems you've got more of a problem with Rangers/TRIFC fans attending these odious marches than what the marches are actually about. Are you ok with 'ra peepul' who follow them and don't wear Rangers/TRIFC tops?
And I fail to see how any right minded member of society could respect the views of anyone in the OO whether they're a relation or not considering them walking the streets isn't respecting anyone else's views.}

25 Jun 2016 12:58:57
My cousin is a big mouthpiece within the "loyalist community" in the West of Scotland. I have constant arguments with him and all his knuckle dragging pals on social media. They're a complete scourge on this country and want to remain in the dark ages. Hopefully one day we can crack time travel and they can all f*** off back to 1690 where they long to be.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - My mother's family are one of the most notorious tribes from deepest darkest Larkhall and without a word of lie there's cousins married to each other in amongst them! I find it best to just avoid them and that's stood me well over the last 30 years.}

25 Jun 2016 16:16:39
On a lighter note the Rebels marched past my house earlier playing The Fields Of Athenrye. As the advert on tv says NOW that's WHAT I CALL MUSIC. lol.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - They shouldn't be on the street either, it's 2016 ffs and these things are a menace to ordinary people trying to go about their normal everyday lives.}

25 Jun 2016 17:16:15
If you read the full post ed instead off skimming over what i said ie i said i respected their views on life in general not about their views on the OO . i also says they never spoke off their views when we where younger (when we were easy to palm off with any old crap they wished to tell us ) but when we were old enough to understand why they left it . And just to keep things straight between us so there's no animosity i certainly do not think its ok or agree with why they have these marches . i merely accept these people are in our lifes ie. friends, family etc and they will have there own outlook on life . l perhap should have explained more about the rangers tops and knuckle draggers that follow these marches ( they bring up ther kids to associate one with the other and that's wrong,

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

25 Jun 2016 17:38:08
Am sick of putting up with there pish
They march right past ma front window a couple of times a year, pure scumbags. Always need to pick up all the rubbish that's left on the street and in ma garden. Av not been on many republican marches but the ones av been on were nothing like what passes ma window a can assure u. A do appreciate that it causes disruption to others but it's on a much smaller scale and happens very rarely compared to the orange parades with no sectarian music.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think it matters what side it is that's blocking roads when emergency services are stuck or need to reroute, then there's the costs of policing etc the disruption to town centres and shopping centres. You can't ban one without banning the other and I'd happily sacrifice Republican marches if it meant no more OO parades, it's a small price to pay. But if you think Republican marches are somehow more acceptable then you have to allow OO marches too, you can't demand freedom of speech while gagging others because you disagree with them.}

25 Jun 2016 22:53:08
Its legalised racism and i hate the bigots who march and promote their vile hatred.

Obviously with the rumours and valuations flying about for Allen makes it seem like a lost cause, but here's the question bhoys and ghirls.
I'm thinking if BR has strong bonds with players, Allen bond seems very strong. Do you think JA could see out his contract and sign a pre contract in Jan? I'm sure this is his last year.

25 Jun 2016 11:09:10
It's hard to gauge how long BR will be with us. I think most of us are under the impression that we needed a short term fix and he needed a foot back in the door on a fairly big stage so for me I don't see it being a long term thing. If it's all about Allen's bond with BR then I can see that being an issue.
