Ed, have you heard when the home leg of euro tie is to be played or when they are likely to let us know?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry Jim, there's nothing been decided yet.}

Nothing short of a disgrace, in my opinion. The fans only get 3-4 wks from the date of the draw to organise travel, accomodation, match tickets, spending money, holidays from work, etc as it is - without taking another 72 hrs to announce the rescheduled dates!

They finally announced them about 11ish this morning, the away tie will be played on Tuesday 15th July @ 19:15 BST and the home tie (which will be included on your ST) will go ahead at Murrayfield on Tuesday 22nd July @ 19:45 BST.

The price of Celtic Travel for the 3 days is nothing short of scandalous as well, priced at £785 per person based on a twin share EXCLUDING the price of your match ticket?!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a happy bhoy we were drawn at home first which I could attend but celtic reverse fixture to following week which means I can't go. I know playing at this time of year is difficult for many which is why we should just have accepted the draw as it was and played murrayfield first. We should be beating this team home and away regardless of it being our first competitive match and how many fans are likely to take time off work to travel to edinburgh for a potential dead rubber as we should be looking to win 3-0 away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure if I've posted this or not before, but it happened to me last year. Belfast landed on my days off, booked the ferry + paid a deposit for accomodation. Celtic then reversed the fixtures, I couldn't get time off work as I need to give 6 wks notice and ended up out of pocket!

Know a few who had booked flights as soon as the draw was done on Monday morning, for Celtic to then tell fans not to book anything 2-3 hrs after the draw took place?!

Either way, you're getting stung. Book early for cheap, then the fixtures get reversed - or wait until Celtic confirm the dates and watch the price of flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh shoot up from £200-250 to £400-715 like they have done today!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hamilton, sure a couple of days in the Glens of Antrim or in Donegal would more than make up for the disappointment of the dates changing .

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't quite fancy a Monday to Wednesday in Belfast on my own while folk I know over there are at work lol.

Suarezs latest incident has put it into my head, if you were to pick the dirtiest team in history, with a player in his genuine position what would it be? Surely Hurlock, Roberts and Souness would be short listed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just pick Atletico Madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

There are many examples of players seriously injuring players with illegal tackles and very little punishment .
The FA decided not to punish Defoe when he took a bite out
The FA also took a decision not to punish Shearer for kicking Lennon in the face, after Shearer threatened not to captain England in the forth coming World Cup. Football authorities the world over always find ways to punish the small club or Country .

What's everyone's thoughts on Ecuadorean striker Enner Valencia? Got off to a flier at the World Cup, currently plies his trade in Mexico wi Pachuca.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think HB that given his performances in the three group games there will be a lot of interest in him and his price will be inflated as a result. Can't see us getting near him. He's had a great tournament. More likely destination is Spain or an average EPL team with a budget way above their station

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree completely mate, he's done himself no harm what-so-ever. Same with the GK famous to any Football Manager fans, Guillermo Ochoa. Currently available on a Bosman due to a relegation clause in his Ajaccio contract!

Anyone know if we'll be going after Garyt Mackay Steven and Ryan Gauld? would love to see the two of them wearing the hoops!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have no idea and it is hard to see if they would make their way to our first team .

Agree0 Disagree0

There's guys in our team with more potential. The boy that was at notts county last year looks decent. Let's see what we've got first. I am a fan of Gaulds though.

Agree0 Disagree0

GMS got released from Liverpool then Fulham as a youngster. Airdrie took a chance on him, where he was impressive, but I think he looks at his level in the Scot Prem. Defo don't think we have better wide players in our current squad, but we should be aiming higher.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we're talking United players but, just seen in the Metro that "New West Brom boss Alan Irvine is ready to make a fresh £1.75m bid for Dundee United left-back Andrew Robertson, 20" - surely we need to get someone in to compete/replace Izzy this summer?

Hi ed. Iv been working with the guys at whattodoinreykjavik.is to try n help fellow tims out who want to come for the game. The guys have 10ish apartments available that sleep around 5/6 each. Also they have a hall available that they want to turn into a tic fanzone with celtic songs and videos playing all day and drink for sale. Its a good shout as bars abd hotels are expensive as here. The boys are trying to gauge interest so if anybodies looking for a good deal on a place to crash or just somewhere to hang about wi fellow tims before kick off then get at me asap. Reykjaviks pretty dissapointing on the randan btw so the fans hall idea is a peach

Much wee talking a jar over there Gerry?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure I read somewhere that local draft lager will cost you between £3.50 to £7 a pint, but imports are extortionate. More in the £10-12 region?!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was over about 15 years ago, and it was working out at about a tenner in our money for a pint, - and that was the cheapest. The whole of Scandinavia is expensive, but Iceland seemed to be the worst.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its about 5 bar a pint at the minute. they mostly get a cargo here then got to the boozer at 11/12pm. that's why the boys at this company are trying to sort out a big hall for the fans to hang about in. its means they can sell cans n stuff like that. also they ain't that big on daytime or weekday sessions here so geez everybody somewhere to have a swally n a chant without any grief

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye hamiltionbhoy. importsd are painfull but the local draft all comes in about 5.5% and is mostly sugar. steaming rapid monster sore heid the next day

I found this interview with John Collins about grassroots football and the problem with Scottish football published last October I think. Some very good points and well worth a read.

Giving Spain and Barcelona as examples obviously prior to the disaster this year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's very easy to talk a good game but it is a hell of a lot different to put it into practice . John and Ronnie seem to sing off the one hymn sheet and as long as the lead singer leads we should be alright .

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree. I'm excited about their philosophy. I just hope they can put it into practice. I also heard an interview with frank macavenie saying Collins had a huge ego. Hope there's not a clash.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's my worry, the stories of JC's ego. I'm sure they'll do just fine, as long as he remembers he's not the main guy and doesn't get too big for his boots!

Agree0 Disagree0

HB I'm all for the JC appointment but that does worry me a bit. But as you say he's not the main man so there shouldn't be an issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just as long as he can accept he's not the main man. I also feel that if anything does go wrong between RD + JC, based on JC being the "Celtic-minded" guy, fans will want shot of Ronny!

What a pleasure watching the world cup we must have the MOST ex players/managers there covering the games for the BBC/ITV

We have Wee GS / NL / MON then Big John H and even Ian Wright and Dion Dublin count too

What a relief not a sevconian in sight!

Future JOVIAL poll of the day Ed? Has the BBC BOYCOTTED Ex Gers because of there clubs failure to meet HMRC demands and the corporation is funded by the tax payer? Or is it because they just talk utter CHOITE?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What about Danny Murphy last night after the Greece Ivory Coast game.he said Greece weren't that good and if we had won our group that's who we would be playing you couldn't make this stuff up pitiful.killy

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no one who can talk shoite like an English man .
Even Lineker told him off.
