I wonder if this may be the year for guys like the Twardzik brothers, Dylan Mcgeough, Atajic to make an impression on the first team. I know there are a lot of players in front of them, however if they get a chance in the pre season games which I'm sure they will I hope they grab the opportunity with both hands, competition for places is healthy keeps everybody on their toes. Awryt BHOYS been reading the debates on mcfadden, is he worth it is he not!? Too say the least am thinkn like that aswell but if he was scoring goals for fun week in week oot for us then I'd say he was worth it obviously, and to be honest I think he would at spl level. But then again he's still not been offered a contract? He could end up in china playing before the window shuts and some of us are talking like he's signed, but we're all welcome to voice our opinions! Hope we all have ah GREAT season supporting the GLASGOW CELTIC HH

The agent of Victor Wanyama, Ivan Modia has got to be one of the biggest rats in football agent history. Claming Big Vic lost out on more than 1 million in wages last season cause Celtic rejected a bid from QPR last season. I wonder what would have been better? Last 16 of the Champions League or being part of one of the worst teams ever in Premiership history? If you want a move then fair enough but don't bad mouth Celtic who are the only reason Premier League clubs are interested in the first place. No question his potential ability could be World Class but unless he changes the way his Agent represents him no one will want to touch him. I still dunno why you would want to leave Celtic to go to a club like Cardiff Or Southampton with no disrespect to any of they clubs. Surley a move to a top four Premiership club would be the only possible move as there the only clubs going to be playing Champions League Football and not in a relegation battle like the clubs who have had bids accepted for him. Plus I think players need to take there Premiership Blinkers of too! The Bundesliga And La Liga are much better leagues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree; some agents are a disgrace to football and when they start spinning garbage and twisting facts they do more harm than good. It's a pity the players being represented by these money grabbers do not speak up for themselves - or even better change to a better more honest and diligent agent.
It's a sad fact that players can be set up for life, just by signing for an EPL diddy team, even for a season.
The SPL is a farce of a league but we offer CL and we have proved we are not just there to make up the numbers and our Euro nights are second to none.
If Vic wants to further develop his career, he wants to think long and hard (by himself) at his options and just not look at the £ signs.

@Mrs E: Charlotte Fakes is releases on twi**er of e-mails and audio concerning Agent Whyte's involvement in sevco.

No one knew for sure if they were genuine, but when one e-mail concerning Graham Spiers (sorry ed I know you hate him!) surfaced his response seemed to suggest they are indeed factual. There has also been no legal threats or recourse from any individual or company, including law firms, mentioned.

Some of them are really explosive stuff. Any true journalist would be all over this story, sadly I have yet to see a single word about them. When mentioned on snyde Keevins said he ' might have a look'. Dellahunt has mentioned them a few times but it was when pressed. have a look I think you will be amazed at some of them. green jhedi

U-hu-huh! Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

In any other country this info would be headline news but in Scotland the cover up to protect Sevco continues. Any one of many of these e-mails would render any other club guilty of bringing the game into disrepute. The license for this tribute act to play football was gained illegally as Whtye was and is very much still in the picture. Just more of the same in this sad little bigoted country. I grew up with the bias in the west of Scotland and sadly it still remains.

Excuse my ignorance on this. I seem to recall that the team currently playing at Ibrokes received a player signing ban. It seems that every other day they are signing someone for next season. Was the ban rescinded or are they loopholing the laws which apply to everyone else? Can someone explain as I don't see too many complaints on the site

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I’m sure the humiliation of flaunting yourself as the biggest and most successful Club in the world yet the plain facts are, you have to rely on a loophole (if you want to call it that) in the Scottish Football League rules to sign players no other Club really wants. Most sensible Rangers fans know the true state of affairs.

Sometimes I do think though that you could not give McCoist a rid neck with a blow torch.

But that’s what happens when you do not keep your own house in order.

Anyway, onwards and upwards for Celtic and what goes on the SFL is nothing to do with us. We don’t play there, never have and never will. That’s the benefit of keeping your house in order, paying the bills and your taxes to Betty ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the reason why you don't see too many complaints is because real Celtic fans realise that goings on at Rangers are of no relevance to them until such times as they are facing one another in the next Old Firm derby, whenever that may be. Pretty simple really.

Agree0 Disagree0

We know what they are they know what they are they'll never except or abide by rules or laws if there's a loop hole to be exploited that mob will dive threw it head first. Its most laughable to listen to them spouting about not owing any one anything in refrence to the jambos but left a trail if debts unpaid during their first down fall the second is inpending if they continue to bring in players that are simply not required to win at the levels they find themselves playing at due to their corruption. This is one of the traditions they have fought to keep because this incarnation the same as the last will never win f**k all through great management, youth and scouting systems and a well ran business plan what they will do is throw money at average managers to spend on slightly above average players in a vain atempt to stay within touching distance to the hoops until they plunge into oblivion
hopfully for good this time so let them continue to twist and bend the rules and watch them emplode again

The players they are signing are free to move mate. There was a limit in the lower divisions on the amount of over 21's they could register though. For some strange reason that rule was changed.Cant think why.green jhedi {Ed007's Note - They don't officially sign or register until 1st September.}

This latest guy has a year left on his contract and it is magically waved away by his club so that he can be an available, out of contract, free transfer to SEVCO.
Old Brown at Aberdeen allowed him down to old RFC on loan to help WS beat NL in his first season. Together with incredulous refereeing decisions (rangers at Inverness anyone?) it all worked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just want to point out that the historical "old firm" phrase in now consigned to history as half of them no longer exist!

Is anyone else getting annoyed with what Wanyama's agent is suggesting in this transfer saga? Just ready the tv and tv reports, and this guy is making it out that we're trying to force him out after messing him around. I, for one, am upset at this. If we had not signed him he would most likely still be in Belgium, and if we had sold him to QPR in January and allowed him to collect that extra million he so much craved, then he'd be in the championship. Celtic will accept 12m> upwards from whoever bids that amount, no matter who it is. It's simply up to Wanyama to decided where he wants to go. It has nothing to do with us if he cannot agree personal terms.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it's even worse than that mate. Seems it is more like the agents personal terms that are the factor!

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly. We have a valuation and if a club meets it they are free to talk to the player. What does his agent want? Should we sell him for £5m and let him pocket £7m in signing on fees?.green jhedi

I have seen a lot of people saying we need competition for Izzy ( I think so too) but haven't seen many suggestions. Well I have thought of a couple who I think could do a job what do you guys think?

Firstly Aaron Cresswell 23 from Ipswich good player played every minute of every game last season. Think there is some premier league clubs interested so don't know how much he would cost.

Secondly Ricardo Rodriguez 20 from Wolfsburg is highly rated by the club so might cost a bit and also recently started to play a few internationals for Switzerlands senoir team.

Thirdly Loris Nery 22 from Valenciennes is a right footed left back who can play in a few other positions wouldn't cost to much maybe 2mil.

Obviously there are lots more lbs out there and I sure John Park and Lenny will have a few in mind but I thnik we could do a lot worse than look t these 3.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Potential target I thought of was Echiéjilé of Braga - who scored against us in the Euro tie. big strong left back, plays alongside Ambrose for Nigeria. Good ball in, miles better in the air than Izzy, last year of a 4 year deal so possibly quite cheap. 25 years old, and has had som, e lower grade epl teams sniffing about (norwich etc). Your suggestions are younger guys with more sell-on potential, but this guy is handy. jean-Pierre Laguerre {Ed007's Note - I am waiting on somebody, who should know, mailing me back about him JPL and I will get your original post.}

Just a thought.
Does anyone know the thinking behind switching the matchdays for the CL tie with Cliftonville?
I understood that we were drawn for the home tie first with the return leg a week later in Belfast. Surely we would prefer to keep this arrangement and put the tie beyond any doubt in the first leg at home rather than give Cliftonville a sniff of a chance with their home leg first. I know they're part-timers etc. etc. but historically we have a tendency to make things hard for ourselves against lesser opponents, and if we give them home advantage to begin with then the tie might be more appealing to them.
Or maybe I'm just being paranoid!

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would always want the second leg at home in any European draw so therefor would be delighted if this was switched. We've seen it happen so often in Europe, big clubs not properly prepared after playing only a couple of preseason friendliest and stumble at the first hurdle due to match fitness etc.
I remember a few years back we drew 0-0 with st pats at CP and had to go to Ireland and get a result.
Anyways, it all seems a bit strange, I'll take it either way but I'd see it as a wee bonus if the ties where switched.

Interesting to see Celtic agreeing, if UEFA allow it, to switching the CL qualifier first leg to Cliftonville.
Is this wise?

We will be playing a team who, according to reports, are a good footballing side, who play as a team and work very hard on their game.I have even seen them classed as a lower half SPL team.Throw a narrow 3G pitch in to the equation and it suggests things might get a bit sticky.

What I don't understand is why they would want the switch? Even if they lost 10 at Celtic park they would still fill their ground for the return. To me this benefits Cliftonville and adds a problem for us.Is this a wise move?. green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The sooner these stupid players realise they don't actually need an agent the better football will be.

Why on earth would you pay anything between 10-20% of your YEARLY income to some bottom feeding parasite is beyond me.

Are players really that thick they cannot ask for what they want? Pay a lawyer to check the contract if it suits, sign it.Pay the lawyer and save an agent picking you clean for years.green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Agents get a percentage of your yearly earnings GJ, why do you think players have deals with Nike etc and who do you think sets the deals up? The more a player makes, the more an agent makes. Eden Hazard's move to Man Utd collapsed last summer after Utd refused to pay 3 million Euros in agent fees, Chelsea agreed to foot the bill so he signed at Stamford Bridge. It's all about the money.....Look at my answer to Chris, elsewhere.}

ED007: I see your point about the commercial tie ups mate but I still think why? The player himself could approach Nike etc and tell them he is open to offers.

Maybe it's just me being self-employed but the thought of giving someone money for doing pretty much nothing rattles my cage. It also might be my pathological hatred of agents!.green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Agents are ruining our game and people are happy to let it happen, it is even creeping in at at lower level. Last week I was approached by someone to help them make sure a players 'multimedia' package (.com name etc) will be available for a player when required, he is currently only 14 y.o but it's all go in the background, mate. It's changed days but I am with you regarding agents, they are actually worse than you can imagine them when there is a sniff of a pound on the air.
It' also mostly agents that the headlines on Sly Spurts and in the RTRs come from. As we've spoken about, how many 'Sly Spurts sauces undertands' actually come true? I know off the top of my head our two main RTRs were around the 30% success mark, Sly were jut lower on the higher 20s percentages. Ed,

Do you know if there is any truth to the following which comes apparently from Big Vic's agent. If it is direct from here its not showing any class at all and quite baffling when it is confirmed Celtic offered Vic a new deal and wage rise and he turned it down.

"To suggest we are talking with Southampton is totally false, their offer was way below Victor's expectations. There is no chance of him signing the deal on offer and, in fact, both Celtic and Southampton were informed of this some time ago.

"The player will not be forced into a corner to accept the Southampton deal, just because it is good for Celtic. Remember, he has been with the club for two years now - without a pay rise - and has given them wonderful service ever since he arrived.

"Added to this is the fact that by Celtic refusing him permission to join Queens Park Rangers last summer, Victor lost more than £1m in potential salary earnings - yet he just kept his mouth shut and continued to be a model professional. Many other players may not have adopted this attitude, in the circumstances."

Modia confirmed there was interest from elsewhere, adding: "We know there is interest from elsewhere and Victor is obviously open to those prospects - he is currently back in Kenya and hopes that Celtic will adopt a more reasonable approach and take into account the service that he has given the club so far and the rest of these issues.

"Nobody at Celtic can question his attitude and he is hopeful he can leave on good terms with the club. He loves the club and its fans, he's played his heart out for the jersey. but he didn't quite expect that it may end like this."

For the record ' I HATE FOOTBALL AGENTS'

@Shammy/Green Jhedi, I saw your posts down the page about team line up for next season. All the talk is of forster also leaving what are your opinions on taking Shay Given on loan for season?
Aston Villa want to cut their wage bill (he is on £60k) if Celtic offered half that I think we would get him with Villa paying other half. Given still gets his wages and we get an experienced goalie and a Celtic fan also.
Also on the transfer front if Vic, Hooper and Forster all leave we should get near £22m for 3 players, if we also get to group stages again this year Celtic should easily make £40m+ combined.
Lennon has brought in only 2 players and let about 5 go so we are also ahead wages wise also from last season.
But we need at least 2 more quality players in (NOT mcFadden) Timalloy

What's the problem with McFadden? He is 10 times the player McCourt ever was and even through his injuries was probably fitter than him too. Looks a great replacement IMO.The guy is getting pelters and he hasn't even signed for us. I don't expect him to be a first team regular but he would be a welcome addition to our squad. So what he knocked us back in the past! He's not been the first and won't be the last.
I for one hope he signs.

Joeshmo1888

I hope to God Given comes nowhere near Celtic as a player he is finished the last Euro finals proved this when was the last time he played a competitive game in saying that he will always be welcomed back as a fan.

FrannyBhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Timalloy: I think Givens best days have gone mate. He seems to pick up niggly injuries a bit too easily for me. I do think the fact he is a Celtic fan would mean he would take a big hit in wages, he must be a millionaire anyway, but not for me.

On the financials, we need to be careful here. The group stages are far from a cert.We seem to be sticking to the buy young and cheap, sell on high principle. That is definitely the way ahead while we are hamstrung in a league far too small for our club.

I think this season will be about Rogic. The guy can play and always looks to pass forward. When he has started he has had defensive duties, forget that he is a forward playing midfielder. I would hope Lenny shapes the team to press and this would let him play behind one or two strikers depending on the game.

I don't think we can even contemplate a team till the window shuts although competition for Izzy would help. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe/Red Devil, I with you about McFadden and his few games with Motherwell last season you could clearly see he is on a different level (and yes, I know it was SPL games but it was still very, very obvious)

I can never understand hatred/dislike towards someone that you have never met either. So what, he snubbed a move to Celtic before to play in England. He won’t be the first and he most certainly will not be the last. If Celtic decide he’s worth a punt then so be it, I can see their point of view with this one.

Tim, can see FF being tempted to England particularly with the World Cup next year but think Shay’s past his best. He had a few howlers at last years Euros ~ Mrs E

Think Given is well finished but I wouldn't be too upset if Forster went.
Yes he is a great shot-stopper, but a lot of our defensive lapses come from his failure to leave his 6 yard box, an inability to deal with crosses and not commanding his area - which would give defenders much more confidence.

For a long period Celtic fans thought Radio Snyde has, if not promoted certainly allowed, an anti Celtic agenda on their super scoreboard phone in. The obvious pointer being the majority of 'experts' were connected to rangers in some form.

Thanks to Charlotte Fakes, still ignored by the media, this has taken an interesting turn. After revealing that Mark Hateley was in the employ of the dead club while sharing 'his thoughts' on the Scottish game, the tentacles of Mordor spread to what laughingly passes as a reporter on SSB.

In an e-mail from Stephen Kerr, a lackey at the dust bowl press office, to Agent Whyte and Ali Russell it seems more people than we thought were in their pockets. Kerr mentions Mr Lawwells ridiculing of the Jelavic bid nonsense, £29m for Hoops, unnamed club, another universe etc, Which it seems has hit a nerve.

Kerr states;'i have asked Darrell King to quote a senior source from rangers on tonight's phone in stating Lawwell should know better than to make snyde remarks on matters he knows nothing about.
Darrell says he will DO HIS BEST TO FIGHT OUR CORNER' This from a supposedly impartial newspaper reporter.Employed by snyde to give an insight into the game in Scotland. Makes you wonder just how many puppets rangers actually did, or indeed The rangers do, control to spread their lies and deceit?. green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately this tiny minority of corrupted individuals damage our society using football as their tool. The tentacles of these latter day crusaders are spread far and wide. It will take much effort to expose them but as they are bullys and cowards they rat on each other frequently and the truth will out sooner than we may have hoped. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

It boggles my in some respects naive mind to think that this has gone on. I couldn't imagine this happening here in Oz. journalists here are disliked, but only because they try to bring down anyone and everyone, with the idea that the big story is the best one. We know who our journos follow, but even then they still have the professionalism to dig away at their own.

I don't know what you do when the roots of the weeds are too deep to dig out.

Melb Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

This might be a naive question GJ but what is Charlotte Fakes?

Why would a club that is advertised by it own Fans as the biggest in the whole wide world need to pay ex players to speak nicely on a 2-bit radio football phone-in and do we really care that much?

Celtic have better things to spend their money on and most certainly do not need talked-up on Radio Clyde or in the Daily Record. They do that on the field.

I know Derek Johnstone is a Rangers man and he never tries to hide it and I also remember him going mental on Real Radio when John Grieg walked out of Rangers during Craig Whyte’s tenure. He was about the only one though and I have to give him credit for that, the rest of the fans stuck their head in the sand.

If Billy McNeil walked out on Celtic my reaction would be the same as big DJ’s and I would know right away something was seriously wrong.

As for having to have Darrell King fighting your corner, really is this what RFC were reduced to? So funny if true ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Radio Snyde memories from last year include: DJ shouting "140 years and counting" at the end of a show. Hugh Keevins saying of Celtic fans upset at him saying I haven't missed anything at Celtic Park "I like to annoy them". Then after being asked twice in a row about the TV deal "it doesn't interest me".

Although the most telling moment was during one long car journey when my wife (who knows nothing about football) commented that the SSB team sounding as "dodgy as anything", when being questioned about their stance on Rangers. Maybe she knows more than she says!
