Wasn't bothered that much about the unbeaten record until it became all we had left to play for.
The manager publicly made it a priority and has often been the case when we put pressure on ourselves - we bottle it; albeit with the handicap of such an early red card to our best player (and the man really responsible for the shut-out record).
It gives our detractors another field day and leaves us with little to play for or prove in a one horse race in a season that should have been so much better.

I understand we played well enough in the second half to salvage something, but Lennon's stubbornness with Samaras has left a lot of supporters perplexed.
There are also a few players that have been off the boil or injured for weeks like Commons and Brown who need a rest, but he either has no confidence in the squad players or indeed has released far too many that could have done a job in the run-in?

At the end of the season we may well have won another title and we will celebrate accordingly; but on reflection Neil Lennon has had the unique opportunity that no Celtic manager has ever had -
no serious rival (ie Rangers/Sevco) to contend with for a minimum of four years.
The trophy count should have been greater and Lennon's reputation and status would be legendary.
Instead we have more disappointment and more questions than answers about the standard of football and the calibre of player at the club today.
I love the club so much and feel we need to take stock and get back to playing the Celtic way with flair, creativity and style and that requires change.

Hi Ed, apologies for posting tonight, I know you have enough crap to be piling through tonight without having to read my rants as well but I just have to get this off my chest.

Lennon must go and go now for the sake of Celtic FC, while the Club flourishes the team and it's supporters are in meltdown.

We started the season with high hopes, the last 16 of CL (Extremely ambitious) and the treble. By September the treble was gone and by October I think we all knew that so was the last 16 of the CL, then it was the double and that disappeared and then the spin doctors threw the smoke bomb that was FF clean sheet record as well as the Unbeaten run in the league. Our expectations are being constantly eroded. When are we going to cry stop, enough is enough.

Aberdeen are a team of nobody's and two Celtic rejects in Flood and Robson(I'd have him back in the drop of a hat). Do you know the Value of their squad ED, the value of their first team or first team wages vis a vis our own. Won't make pretty reading.

Forget about players not wanting to come to Celtic, our squad should be beating all in front of us domestically with ease. We are like a F1 car being driven by Ms. Daisy.

People need to focus on NL the manager and nothing else. He is not up to the task.

Save the replies that have lines such as "You're not a true supporter" or "Supporters like you make me sick". The manager is not up to the task and results prove it.

Again Ed sincere apologies for posting given the workload you'll have tonight.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Off the top of my head Aberdeen's wage bill is circa. £5m.}

Totally agree mate. Its getting beyond a joke. To be honest, lawell will have to tell him to go cause lennon has that big an ego he won't quit.

The rot has to stop tonight, he must go

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just sick of Lennon's stale style, poor team selections, favouritism and lack of tactical knowledge!

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard McInnes say that celtics two top earner's earn more than the whole Aberdeen squad. Time to go Lenny. Your times up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Samaras should not be anywhere near first team. At this stage in the season and with the amount of points we are ahead, this is the ideal stage in the season to give pukki, balde, boerrigter and youth game time to boost confidence. Stokes should be nowhere near team either.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what I was afraid of Bankie Bhoy, Lennon and coaching staff must go now.

Didnt see the game tonight but getting a bit frustrated now regarding Lennon's team selections.
I've defended Sammy in the past but there's no way he should be playing at all. When we need a goal its unlikely that he's going to score.
What must Pukki and Balde think?

Ed, what is the policy around refs and displays? Do they get analysed in same way in EPL.
Thomson had an absolute disaster tonight and some of the decisions were baffling. Best ref here, what a joke.
At what point is multiple fouling deemed a yellow card? Some players in red shld have walked. Flood! Little s?#%>. Hated him when he signed for us.
Conspiracy/ paranoia but maybe they don't want our run or early league finale to be the best.
The team played well despite the obvious set backs and 2nd half ud not know the apparent 2nd best team had 11 men on park, hanging on for corners at the death- pathetic.
Disappointed a couple of records gone but the players gave 100% and for me, despite the pain! us all u can ask

{Ed007's Note - There is an SPFL appointed 'Referees Observer' in attendance at every match who reports back to the SPFL about officials' performances.}

Lennon brings on samaras . The man doesn't want to stay but wouldn't move in January he has a 2.5 million winger/ forward a 2 million pound forward and a 1.5 million pound striker on the bench and lennon chooses samaras a disgrace of a decision . 10 men down 2-0 down we played very well in the second half but instead of slating the board for not releasing money to the manager blame the manager . The board gave him 7- 9 million pound in the summer and he spent it on dross he then gave him 3 million in the January and he bought 2 descent players who play week in week out I don't blame the board not one bit I think Lenny has done well as a manager but his decision making towards players is very poor .

2-0 down 10 men down van djik carries our team clearly! What an absolute let down ( by the way willie miller celebrating screaming it's over it's over Bit of a shock really )

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At 2-0 down and down to 10 men at HT, Forster's clean sheet record and the unbeaten league record are in tatters. So what now? Where do we go from here? What positives can anyone take away from the 2013-14 season?

Agree0 Disagree0

And guarantee you there will be posts on this tonight, from fans who are more concerned about breaking a clean sheet record than the actual state of team+management

Agree0 Disagree0

2-1 now Forest, the c`mon the hoops no worried about records, just want a result to shut these pundits up.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 minutes were reduced to ten men so were up against it things happen we have won league lost out on two cups mediocre season but we will learn from it

Agree0 Disagree0

Griffiths off and sammy on WTF stokes has been diabolical

Agree0 Disagree0

Another one for NL to answer, player who can leave for nothing in a few months time gets more game time for a striker who only signed in August.

Clearly playing his favs & ensuring Sami is fit for the summer.

Total joke by NL this season. Forget the records, league was always a going to be ours. Cup runs have been poor & team tatics just as bad. couldn't care if we won lost or drawn tonight, just sick of the way things are done.

Really hope he goes in the summer think his time has come.

Considine, Griffiths and Ambrose booked; Virgil sent off. All within 25 mins. Take it it's a hot tempered game?!

Was just having a look at Dortmund's transfer activity over the past 5 years. Last year's CL and Bundesliga runners-up built their team cheaply, but kept them together rather than selling at the first big offer that's came in. They've sold the odd player for a tidy profit, but also rejected large bids for key players. Examples would be buying Mats Hummels for €4m, Jakub Blaszczykowski for €3.2m, Neven Subotic for €4.9m, Lukasz Piszczek on a free transfer, Sven Bender for €1.6m, Robert Lewandowski for €4.5m, Shinji Kagawa for €350k and Ivan Perisic for €5m - they sold Kagawa for €17m and Perisic for €8m, this then resulted in them being able to buy more expensive talent that still have a sell on value - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for €13.9m, Henrikh Mkhitaryan for €27.5m and Marco Reus for €17.1m. Now, just to clarify. Not for one minute am I saying we can spend that amount of money, but surely keeping a core together and investing in the playing squad is the example to follow?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Intresting HB, but what were they paying them and would that calibre of player ever even consider coming to Scotland to play in the SPL (Can't remember the new name for our crap league). Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Well they bought Hummels from Bayern, Blaszczykowski from Wisla, Subotic from Mainz, Piszczek from Hertha BSC, Bender from 1860 Munchen, Lewandowski from Lech Poznan, Kagawa from Cerezo Osaka and Perisic from Club Brugge - I can’t imagine, other than Hummels, any of them were on huge salaries? I would’ve loved for us to have built our squad around Forster in goals, Lustig at RB, Wanyama at DM, Matthews on RW, Ledley at CM, Commons on LW and Hooper up front. If we had kept the squad intact then signed Virgil at CB and Finnbogason up front, along with another CB and LB we’d have been a fantastic side and that could've been our version of Dortmund’s model!

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose I'm just crying over spilled milk lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

HB, your crying over spilt milk on the fact that nothing's going to change!
But it's deffinetly not spilt milk on your points regarding players bought in and sold on and also kept to building a good squad.
The players mentioned, wouldn't have been on top wages as they were unknown at the time, Dortmund made them what they are now.
The Germans and partly the Dutch took a big gamble and almost went unknown in the football world for at least 5/6 years to bring forward their game, granted it's worked big time in germany more than Holland.?
I think celtic have done well on a few players, unfortunately we can't keep the best given the way out game is run, and it won't change as we have a stupid voting system and all teams are scared of change!
(Also the laughable excuses of the board as to where our money is going will be swallowed by most and written off)
1 BIG difference is the coaching!
Until teams buy into "Querver Coaching" we will stand still, we will always get a Riordan or Watt (training wise, or made it already) but it's the way forward, it's slowly being brought in at grassroots level in Scotland but won't grow as there's no money apparently?
Ok I've went off a wee bit but still ties in HB, the guys you mentioned wouldn't be where they are without it and without the way the game changed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Iam a sports coach at youth level and like to teach my boys it's about getting your technique right first before you even think about winning I teach them that once you have the basics mastered the rest will fall in to place in time but all the other coaches are following the old Walter no surname method of win at all cost and just hoof the ball it's frustrating because the talent is shining out a lot of these players but they aren't getting proper coaching

Agree0 Disagree0

Scottish football is definitely rotten to the core. With booze/drug/gang culture rife and little investment to keep kids off the streets, as well as in the right areas of grassroots. Barcelona have been using a 4-2-3-1 formation since they won the European Cup early 90s, from first team to their youngest youth level. They've focused on passing and using the same system which paid off the run the had from 2008 until Pep left in 2012.

Agree0 Disagree0

HB, it's slightly going off track to your original point which is spot on,
But if you get a spare 10 mins, check on Barcelona youth training, frightening! But only if you can see and compare to what type of player we have to deal with here.
Not bad boys, just different mentality and then the parents aswell, coaching then is paramount, the boys/girls need to want to do it!
I coached 2002s and 2004s youth and it wasn't untill I moved my boys that I noticed the difference elsewhere, night and day given the different mentality at different clubs and this is at grassroots FFS.
Can argue all night long on different points, but it's appetite and more importantly coaching!

Just a question! Is any station showing the game tonight? Thanx in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just googled it! tv alba? Anyone know if this is true? Or is it just radio coverage?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's only live on CelticTV Del and BBC Alba at 10 o' clock.}

The game is on Alba at 2200 hrs, its a full recording. I am taking Mrs TamTimTic for a curry and watching the game "live" when I get home. Leaving mobile at home and having a few Cobras and a Lamb Bhuna. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I think you can get it on the FSI website, not too sure of the official address though. Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - We (the sites) are not allowed to recommend any streaming sites Tam but if people post in about them we are happy to post them up.}

Right Bhoys and Ghirls. If the season finished right now, who would you give the player and young player of the year to?

Would it be:-

Commons, for his goals
Forster, for his clean sheets
or any other?

also young player.

The only one I can think of this season would be Darnell fisher. James Forrest has been injured or pi55 poor most of the time.

any other suggestions are welcome

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Samson, think I would go for Big Virgil and young Fisher, he has done very well every time he has played for us. Take your point about Forrest but what about the bottle he showed with his winning goal the Kara Goat Killers and the pen v Ajax. Would not be too upset if he were sold in the summer though. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with TTT, Virgil + Fisher all day long. Not to take anything away from Forster or Commons, but I just feel VVD is something special and deserves the recognition. Even Forster or Commons POYT + VVD getting YPOTY, which I think is most likely.

Just looking at the squad news for tonight - Lustig (hip), Kayal (foot) and Mouyokolo (Achilles) are still out. Johansen (ankle) and Griffiths (calf) are doubtful. Izzy and Forrest are just back at training, so may also miss the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Griffiths will be playing. My biggest worry is that with izzy out charlie going 2 left back so can't cover johansen which will probably make lennon draft in sammy. Personally I would start with fisher at rb push matthews up 2 right mid commons on the left broony and biton in the middle and stokes and griffiths up top. Can't think of anyother replacements for johansen that neil would actually start tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

Or perhaps just Fisher RB and Matthews at LB. Biton Brown Mulgrew Commons in the diamond. Reckon we might see a couple changes in attack a few looked tired against Hearts. Hopefully Boerrigter can get a good run out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd play:

GK: Forster

RB: Matthews
LB: Mulgrew
CB: Virgil
CB: Ambrose

DM: Biton

CM: Broony
CM: Johansen

AM: Commons

FW: Balde
FW: Pukki

Agree0 Disagree0

Think it will be a defos 4-5-1, but who to play the lone role up front. There is only really Sami who can play that role (crap). Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

HB, that is a good Team and a strong one but after they slaughtered us in the midfield battle in the scottish cup he will go 4-5-1. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't have been much more off, Lenny went with:

Forster; Matthews, van Dijk, Ambrose Izaguirre; Brown, Biton, Mulgrew, Commons; Griffiths, Stokes.

Subs: Zaluska, Samaras, Boerrigter, Balde, Pukki, Fisher, Forrest.

There is a new poll up, please take two minutes to vote:

Who will you be supporting when Eire plays Scotland?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed. Might make interesting reading.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither here, if you don't recognise NI as a country you can't recognise the 26 as a country . internationals I support the Irish Rugby and Boxing teams .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2014 12:19:10
ED007 yes it will be interesting to see who most fans will support (here is a wee clue to my allegiances) "Come on you bhoys in GREEN"
Also surely Ireland as the HOME team should get about 50,000 tickets give Scotland the new Sevco end. lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Scotland for me I like to see Ireland do well cause that's where my grandparents are from but no against Scotland

Request for a poll please Ed, who will the Celtic fans on this site be supporting Scotland vs. ROI, if either at all?

{Ed007's Note - I'll get that set up just now Jim, no probs.}
