if Ronny thinks bottom of our Europa league table is progress he should have a look at K. A. A Gent! Now this is a team with a budget way lower then ours a great away win tonight at Lyon they are now second in a tough Champions league group! As I watched them tonight it really got me thinking what have our scouts been doing? We have wasted so much money on rubbish! There are so many good players out there well in our budget so why do we sign 3 Dundee United boys hardly using our scouting network. I think we need to reassess our scouting not good enough in my opinion!

I expressed my concerns signing 3 utd players at the time, asking at what point our side would just become dundee utd, and was shot down. I agree with you entirely about our scouting network not being as efficient as it could be and certainly not using it's potential. Players like NC and SA. Is that as far as oor arm stretches. I feel for RD. He had imo our best 'full back' and our best cb partnership taken away, and a striker brought in who is no better than what we already have.

The problems in recruitment lie not only with the decline in our scouting system, but with the final decision making when 'targets' are identified and this has been going on since the NL days.
We never properly replaced Forster, Hooper, Wanyama, VVD and Denayer with similar or better and although the young talent we have seems to be flourishing, they need experience and quality alongside them to develop fully.

Gazcfc21 The fans of K. A A Gent should enjoy their success his season on a small budget. It's not unusual for a club with a small budget to get results away above normal expectations . The problem is getting these results and qualifying for Europe after Christmas regularly . We small Celtic have had post Christmas football two seasons out of 4/5 which really isn't that bad, and I know we all want better .

Hey Ed how things?
I come with my hands held high lol
I was one of a few or many (can't remember) ? That though JC might have done a decent job 🙈
I was the one that was coached by him for certain courses and coached along side him at and for the performance schools and 20/20.
He's never a manager in a million years but thought he'd have done well by the younger lads and so on.
How wrong was I?
He might else where (lol) but not at Celtic.
I'm all for Ronny given more time if the board are going to back him properly and let him bring his own staff/players in, but JC isn't right in there.

I never gave him the job so don't stone me lol
And I'm happy to hold my hands up (I don't get much wrong, same as you)
100% wrong this time.

{Ed007's Note - Fair play to you but I'd have been happier if you had been proved right, John.}

Me too mate.
My opinion aswell as others count for nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I just want our team to prosper and play at a level we can all be proud of!

Never thought but Biton and Armstrong both suspended for Thurs KC losing his fitness battle for then and Brown struggling

Who do we go with?

Hope brown makes it and play Armstrong in beside him

Rogic, GMS and Forrest front three and McGregor from the bench

What do you think folks?

would prefer Allan on bench really don't rate McGregor at all! Question is who is going to play at RB? Is Janko fit?

Don't think Janko fit either meant to say SJ also suspended (y)

You say Armstrong is suspended but you want him to play besides brown.

I think he forgot what happened to Legia when they fielded a suspended player. :P.

With some of the decisions so far I've been absolutely lost!
If Armstrong doesn't start in the middle on Thursday I give up, it's as close to his position as youl get given the stupid formation we play, not against it, we just don't have the players to play it!
He's been given a hard time and not showed what he can do and no wonder playing wide, he's better than that.

Bigbadjohn you may be right about Armstrong's better position in the centre, however I have often seen him played on the wing for Dundee Utd.

Is it mandatory for Celtic to travel - especially to the north of Scotland after European games?

It will be handy for the scouts they are half way up there most of the time anyway. What's this Dundee Utd obsession all about.

We're playing at home in Europe and it's not as if the players have a big trek ahead of them prob a 1 hour flight and a night in a hotel. There's no point looking for any excuses it's only ict on a Sunday.

Not making or looking for excuses, just mentioning the regularity of this type of fixture over the years and the subsequent cost to supporters.

24 Nov 2015 18:10:04
Last year Radio Scotland did a 15 minute interview with the man who compiles all the fixtures, of course he said all the fixtures were generated randomly, but over the past 4/5 years Celtic have had these away fixtures in Dingwall and Inverness after european games, the odds on this occurring so often are akin to the odds of winning the lottery, millions to one, makes you think how "random" is the guy inputting all these fixtures.

{Ed007's Note - Not to mention the coincidental home tie for Rangers, and now TRIFC, for their annual Remembrance Sunday jamborees since season 2009/10.}

Wonky in Scotland would the Football Authorities plead with judge had a cheating fraudulent club not suffered enough .
We should soon feel enough is enough .

This has gone on for years, I remember back in 2004 we had an away match in Barcelona on the Thursday night, then on the Sunday we were landed with an away match at Ibrox. It backfired on them though as we drew in Barcelona and won at the old Rangers.

We're talking about playing a league game against Dundee in America so we can hardly complain about a wee trip to Inverness.
