Well there u have it bhoys straight from the main man himself brendan wanted 2 players for qualifiers and because he knows the english and European markets well that's when he'll bring in real quality his words and one more for qualifiers.

The fact he is happy to have one more in before qualifying matches begins is telling me he has one lined up but if he gets him great I don't think he is bothered if he does or doesn't he is going with what we have and then let's c what scraps we can get after the teams in the EPL are happy with their squads.

Just heard this, wonder who it is. To be honest, I think that we're cool for qualifiers at least and would imagine that the squad we have good make a good stick at a decent group. Still maintain that on our performances we would have done Ok in Leicester group last year and Spurs for that fact. At least a Europa place.

I'm relaxed about this. Much better we spend 6-7 million on one quality addition then at least a similar amount on another when we qualify for the group stages. And people forget we were in a very tough group last year.

The manager's comments made me think he his hoping that Roberts will become available late in the window when Man City have conducted their transfer business. The thing that could blow it out of the water is the transfer fee. If it is the Mooy territory it is not going to happen. Maybe another 1 year loan deal is more likely?

This could also be the reason for playing the waiting game with other targets. It's probably just a waiting game for other club's to land their targets and free up ours? Who knows, but I surprised to hear him say he only wanted 2 players.

Wits only right that we should be cool and relaxed about the transfer window .
Only a month ago everyone of us were excited and delighted with Brendan our manager, he has got married in the mean time but surely that won't have destroyed him as a manager.

it doesn't matter if the manager was guardiola or pochettino he would still have to put up with lawwell penny pinching and giving them the usual poor budget while the club sit on a fortune.

Bollocks P Lawwell operates within budget agreed between Brendan and Board.
Lawwell does what he is told . Under previous managers Lawwell and possibly Park were more involved in bringing in players but Rodgers wouldn't be our manager if he wasn't involved in the front seat getting players in.

on the usual crap budget while the banks are rammed with cash from them selling our best players year in year out, that's how desmond ordered lawwell over to dublin for a dressing down over the deila fiasco and the semi final defeat to sevco, you must be due at the drying out clinic again chris.

Jamesbhoy 67.
I must say that I am very disappointed that any Celtic fan should make fun of a fellow fan who has alcoholic sickness.
I thank God that I haven't and if I had I wouldn't expect a Celtic fan to belittle me .

I note that you have very detailed knowledge of how the Celtic Board works and all I can say is I am jealous of your insider knowledge .
Of course, maybe u know nothing and are just quoting SMSM ' s wee fairy tale.

Last day of the Ascot meeting, and the two big favourites Caravaggio and Winter put me back in profit for the whole meeting (as I am sure it did many other punters)
So why change a winning formula so going with the 3 favourites today
September 2.30, Dartmouth 3.40 and Thomas Hobson 5.35
But being me I love bigger priced horses so have 2 I am backing also
Nyalati 2.30 12/ 1
Squats 5.00 25/ (Sly paying 6 places)
Doing 2 each way singles and an each way double.
Good Luck everybody having a wee punt today.

Good picking mate. You get slaughtered on here for putting your neck on the line. September was outstanding, and your each way selection Nyalati ran a blinder to finish second. Fair play.

Shame about Dartmouth and Thomas Hobson 😂 £6 on, £1.85 back on each way double, not going to get rich anytime soon.

You won some you lose some - all good fun, cheers Tim.

I'm sure there will be a lot of disappointment at BR saying he only wants one more in for the qualifying campaign, but it seems like the sensible thing to do. Why bring in 3 or 4 players to disrupt a team that were superb last season? Mostly going with what we have allows us to continue with the players who know each other inside out. Get into the group stages and then bring in 1 or 2 quality players. Yes it takes some excitement out of the window but I think people are getting impatient because across the city they are signing players on a daily basis. The difference is, they need to, we don't. We got through the qualifiers last year with a team that's nowhere near as good as where we are just now. Don't forget that Ambrose and O'Connell started in Astana and Janko started in Israel! So, the question is, what position is BR targeting before the qualifiers and who is it he wants to bring in? I'd say right wing is the priority as you never know how forrest will play and hayes will need time to settle. Onyekuru would be ideal (or paddy obviously) . However, I think it will be a centre half we sign, and I think BR wants Jean Kevin Duverne.

Only Celtic don't build properly on success, for me it's a lack of ambition within the club no to strengthen before the qualifiers. We are not giving the manager the chance to succeed.

Agree2 Disagree5

24 Jun 2017 11:27:02
Strengthen what tho Dafa mate?, we've looked solid and went undefeated, If we bring in better quality in 3 or 4 players it could disrupt the fluidity of the team, we all had the same discussion last season and that turned out not to bad, We need to start backing the gaffer lads, as with the exception of de vries i can't think where he put a foot wrong so far, If he wants one in that's good enough for me.

Agree Dafabet, apart from home game against Man City in Europe our squad isn't at a level to compete.

Quality of player has to be raised

Paddy out Hayes in means our squad is weaker.

Am sure paddy hardly got a start first half of season and we were doing fine.

To be honest, get a couple of quality players in when get to the group stages, no guarantee will, and nonsense in my opinion to think that top quality players will come in if qualify, still not going to change the fact that quality of a high standard only going to come in if give out high wages which we won't, that onyekuru would of been quality but he ain't interested, I reckon big gamble now if don't qualify, everyone will be moaning and dismayed, but to be fair if can't attract the players as play in a weak league with no money in it nothing Brendan can do unfortunately or the board to the point, just have to accept got to wheel and deal.

Agree1 Disagree2

24 Jun 2017 14:03:12
The position that needs strengthened most for the CL is definitely the centre of our defence, none of the 3 we have are up to the standard required, I'm sure Brendan is aware of that, our team is well enough equipped to more than cope domestically, every signing Brendan's made has contributed to the team in some way, even DeVries who's mere presence gave Craig Gordon the kick up the a*se he was needing, Eboue Kouassi was bought with next season in mind and Jonny Hayes might not be the marquee signing we wanted but he is a good player who will more than do us a turn, listen I fully expect the Sevvies to put up more of a challenge next season, but none of their signings should duly concern us, let's trust in our manager he knows what we need and will do all he can to bring quality to the club 🍀 HH.

We should easily have enough to beat Linfield even if we play our reserves. I'm hoping it will be a new CB that comes in as we seem to be a bit suspect still in that area. If we qualify for the group stages then hopefully that will attract the kind of player BR wants to bring in. ST and CDM maybe to follow. Although I'd be happy enough with seeing more of Eboue if we got rid of Biton then we would need a replacement.

Drewzy - you're spot on mate. Can't argue with that.

Boyata and Shev aren't good enough. We need cover at full back and if we want to step up then a midfield playmaker wouldn't go amiss. Also back up for Gordon.

Can't say I'm surprised at the lack of activity though. Disappointed but not surprised.

Happy to see Hayes replace Forrest though.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jun 2017 18:41:48
I don't think that we should be complacent about the Champions league qualifiers, once we get past Linfield the teams from then on are mostly stronger than the teams we face in Scotland.
If you look at some of the teams we have faced in the last few years, Leiga Warsaw, Marlboro, Quarabag, Malmo, Astana, Hapoel, they've all been far better than anything in our country.
Hopefully we will qualify, but if the manager judges that we need strengthening, then I hope the club back him up.
I personally would look at all the teams that we could potentially draw, and try to make sure that our squad matches or betters the very best of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2017 19:30:51
The current team should beat any of the teams we can face on the qualifiers without any further new signings. That's a fact. I totally believe we will spend real money this window but most of it will be towards the very end. Keep the faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2017 19:43:22
There is no doubt that the club will back him. The issue is attracting players who can improve the team.

24 Jun 2017 22:17:01
When the squad is decent and with good comradeship it can be very difficult to add without breaking up the good relations between players and between players and manager . For instance if Brendan buys a good striker who comes in and does well
L G could be out the door and even Dembele could take to the road too. Instead of us having three good strikers, we could be left with one.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jun 2017 01:22:01
The team just now should qualify for CL without any additions but please stop going on about getting CL standard players in, as if they would come to Scotland. Let Brendan do the worrying and let him build his team without going on every 2 mins about the lack of quality he has signed. After last season he deserves our full backing, Hail Hail 🇮🇪🍀🇮🇪.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jun 2017 12:15:44
Chris, if you go on your argument we'd never sign anyone.
Players being unhappy because a better player comes in is no reason not to do it.
If you turn down a chance to sign a better player than Dembele, you would probably find that Dembele would move as soon as he gets the chance of a lucrative move.
In that case we would have lost out big time.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2017 14:02:52
Yeah we need to trust BR which we all do no question asked but one thing bugs me is Eboue K. Why bring him in as he hardly got a look in last year for big money I hope he steps up looks good but want more for that price.
