Ronny Deila, Peter Lawwell? Give that man a new deal. Love, love, love him!

Agree0 Disagree0

I did love him. Last season though his European performances (which if we're being honest were the only reason he was still being given a chance) were abysmal, and I was left thinking we had to change him, or change the approach. Now though, I'm starting to doubt we'll bring in a quality enough replacement, with his experience. I'd rather him stay now though, and rather see quite a few others leave ahead of him. Can't see PL changing his mind because we've changed manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the big man when he's on form. Still don't think he did enough to justify a knew contract especially with the abundance of strikers we have at the club. But really chuffed for him last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our full team were abysmal, not only in Europe but in the domestic cups as well, last season. Saying that, he still managed: 32 apps, 11 goals, 13 assists!

Over the past two seasons he scored 9 goals + assisted 7 in 22 CL games, mostly from LW. He was our top goalscorer in the CL in back-to-back campaigns - scoring more than Hooper, Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Wanyama, etc.

He grabbed vital winners away from home against Dynamo Moscow (2009-10) for our first away win in 6 yrs then again in Moscow v Lokomotiv (2012-13) two yrs ago for our first ever away win in the CL Group Stages, not to mention goals at Camp Nou two yrs on the trot.

I thoroughly believe he would've came on to a game under Deila if he wants to get the ball out wide and run at teams, I think he'll be sorely missed, especially in Europe!

Agree0 Disagree0

You're totall right Hamilton. He will be missed, particularly without an adequate replacement. Always remember him saying how WGS told him he was our "secret weapon". He's well useful as a big man in the WF role. I think teams sniffed him out though, pinpointing him as our dangerman, even Xavi and Pirlo have stated so. Like you said though most were abysmal, influential players like Commons, didn't cut it in Cl, Broony, let himself and the rest us down big time. I'd like him to stay, can't see how or why he might now though. NL played him, to a degree, out of spite I think. How much would it cost to go out and buy a player like Sammy? 5-10m I would say. The main problem here though is that there aren't many about like him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye . Jim tim he was that much of a secret we only seen him perform once every couple of months in any season

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree HB. He should be offered a new deal. He will be hard to replace as he is one of the few players of Champions League quality in the current squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the problem for Celtic that in our first Campions League campaign under Neil Lennon, the opposition hadn't worked out special methods to curb him
The second season the opposing teams tried to prevent the ball coming to him and double marked him when he got it which left the Celtic attack blunted .

Agree0 Disagree0

Deep River. I see both points if view, when he was good, he was class, and at pretty important times too. Derbies, Qualifiers, CL games. But maybes that's it, he only raised his game when it really mattered, his lethargic performances might suggest at other times he just didn't see the point.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can see why people would have liked him to stay but i'm happy he's gone ajax away last season was the final straw. As deep river said he turned him once every few months and that's not good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Add also the New Year's afternoon when "he dined in Hell", that alone will be cherished forever lol. Hope he single handedly wins Greece the World Cup haha!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was never a fan, as when you look at his whole Celtic career - he frustrated and disappointed more often than not.
Over all he lost possession and never seen a pass far too much. However; we have no other player like him at present WHEN HE IS ON SONG and his hold up play and long meandering runs up the left were very beneficial to the team.

I know this is not celtic related but what do you's think of the draws the other Scottish teams have been handed?

Aberdeen vs Daugava Riga (Latvia)
FC Luzern (Switzerland) vs St Johnstone
Motherwell vs Stjarnan (Iceland) or Bangor City (Wales)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Going by their recent forays into Europe I would be surprised if any of them made any sort of impact such is the poor quality of scottish football.does anyone know when the ramsden cup draw is made.killy.

Think aberdeen will get through but if they do they will play groningen and can't see them progressing they rattled vitesse 5-1 then az 3-0 in the play offs 2 get europa so they won't be an easy tie

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd expect Aberdeen to get through the 1st Q Round quite comfortably and they could possibly give Groningen a game of it, the Dutch league ain't all it used to be. Motherwell will be able to get through their 2nd Q Round game with a fair amount of ease, St Johnstone have a tougher task but they beat Rosenborg at the same stage of qualifying last year!

Agree0 Disagree0

PS, Groningen should be a cracking away day for Aberdeen. Their stadium gets called The Green Hell n Green Cathedral lol.

Could be a bit of bother off the field but, I'd expect Aberdeen will take a decent following and Groningen to come over here with a big-ish crowd. They both have hooligan elements in their support. Aberdeen have the ASC (Aberdeen Soccer Casuals, among Scotland's first) and Groningen have an ultras group Fanatics + hooligan firm Z-Side.

There was a group of Groningen lads in Amsterdam the day we played Ajax in November, purely because of their rivalry with Vak-410 / F-Side!

Agree0 Disagree0

Groningen is a great wee place for a session, worked just outside it and went there every weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye I've heard it's a good wee place DRB. Should get half decent weather for those making a few days or a week of it as well, believe it's usually in the mid 20s that time of year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hb, yes around that, they do seem to get a season of summer unlike here, (unless ivebeen lucky every time I've worked there)

Iv not seen too much of the boy diskerud but I would rather we signed Armstrong from utd, he's really impressed me this season!what do u all think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm a fan of Armstrong. Would be a good signing for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Armstrong is a strange one, - he is always brilliant against us, especially at Parkhead, but every other time I see him he just looks ok. I thought he was rotten in the cup final. It's the old chestnut about how it's much easier playing against us, than playing for us. The dynamic is totally different, - the pressure increases tenfold, I can't make up my mind about any off the D Utd young players, but I would probably gamble on Robertson if I had to choose. GMS and Gauld are the most natural, I'm not sure if they have the heart/desire, especially GMS, every time you see him he is getting substituted with an injury - looking at him you would think his leg had just fallen off.

Celtic have the best of Scottish talent, unfortunately most of them could be let go without worrying about effecting the first team .

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to lose a lot of the deadwood, Ronny will know after a few wks who's career he can save and who's he can't. The areas we need to strengthen are CB, LB, RW, LW + FW. If Forster and Virgil leave then we'll need another CB + GK!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we have that much dead wood and it will be interesting to see how Ronnie gets the best out of some players that haven't performed under Lennon . Wee Bobby Petta was like a different player with O'Neil

Anyone know where I stand or able to help me out here?

Preordered the new top which arrived last week, Celtic misspelt the printing on the back of it, so I phoned up n was advised to tick the option for exchange. They've now sent me a templated / generic email stating:

"Please note either we were not able to supply the following goods or you may have requested for these goods to be refunded."

Despite me asking for an exchange? I just phoned them, the top completely sold out n they'll send me another when they're in stock. On the 14th July?! But I need to phone up n place a new order n they'll waive the payment, they won't give me a refund as it wis a customised top.

Basically Celtic have got my £65 n no giving me it back!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

HB, sorry to hear about your experience. Everyone has the old 14 day option to return goods with a full refund but that does not come into consideration as you have asked for adjustments to be made to your top ie printing. Afraid you will just have to wait out and follow their instructions. Pure bummer by the way. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Does jungle bhoy on here not work in the shop?could he not advise you .he would obviuosly have to to read your post first but it might help if you put a post on here directly for him that the ed could forward?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've e-mailed JB about it, DRB. I'm sure he will get back to HB about it.}

HB A would say you are entitled to your cashback as long as it was there mistake tell them you have spoke to Consumer & Trade Standards they covered there ass here by the "quote!" but they are winging it trying to hold on to your cash mate atb jb7

Agree0 Disagree0

Probs because they read you on here HB with your doom and gloom!

Agree0 Disagree0

After another few phone calls I've managed to get a refund, I've been advised by Celtic on Twitter to email the shop n they'll take it up wi Kitbag for me. I've also been advised by a few fans to raise awareness to the Trust as well?!

Agree0 Disagree0

You should request a refund as they sent you faulty goods through their incompetance by mis-spelling.

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll said davidc1888.spot on.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doom n gloom? Have a look at my recent posts. One of the few who feel we should trounce this Icelandic mob, one of the only people not writing off the other Scottish teams chances in Europe, one of the couple who feels Sammy should be offered a new contract. I'd say that's quite the opposite of doom n gloom!
