Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Very interesting tomorrow. 20 hours to go. On Wednesday evening I thought celtic were more unpredictable, easier on the eye, faster, more talented and all round more capable in just about every department. For this reason I think we have little to fear. Both teams have seen one another up close and our players will fancy their chances at an individual level ( IE winning your own key battle and taking it from there). Malmo did very little to convince me that get have a sciesmic new level still to get to and so celtic have cause for optimism.

They banged in 2 at a packed celtic park. We can bang in 2 at a ground that will be like pittodrie or tynecastle. Just as our fans can inspire the opposition, we can use the atmosphere to our own advantage.

I cannot see Malmo at an individual level winning more individual battles because I do not think they are at our level.

If we play as well as we can we will have a very very good chance of qualifying. I therefore think it's more about what celtic turn up.

That's the big unknown. What celtic turn up. But with it all to play for there shouldn't be any hint of the players being underwhelmed.

Going to Sweden and having to avoid defeat is not the impossible task. Malmo are capable. They will punish mistakes more so that the majority of SPFL sides but we can punish them too

A solid performance with players showing their true form ( assuming our own fair share of any luck that's going around ) should see us through unless Malmo can move up 2 or 3 gears.

They will fear us too remember. 3 - 2 was regrettable but it's half time and we are ahead and we know the prize.

I think we will do it based on what I have seen of both sides ( which is based on last weeks match up )

I don't like celtic when they try to close a game down. They are rotten at it and so it will be interesting to assess the team's mentality if that eventuality arises ie drawing going in to the closing stages. Celtic in that scenario can do great harm to themselves so let's hope they out Malmo to sleep with time to spare!

Prediction Malmo 1 celtic 2. Aggregate 5-3 hoops

Attack is the best kind of defence,if we sit back ,we are doomed.

Agree with everything you stated, plus we have to cut out te silly mistakes when passing to many times we gave the ball aay when the simple pass was on. Even Broonie had some unusal mistakes.

Also they seemed to get goaded by the Malmo team in the second half some little fueds we need to be professional in all areas.

Strong at the back and hopefully Jamsie comes out in the same form as last week again final ball has to be better.

Roll on a big night

We were far superior in the first leg, however at 2-0 there was a hesitancy and nervousness that crept in and allowed them back in the game.
Our defending in recent weeks has been letting us down, although from middle to front, we are looking very good.
I think we will concede again; however if we score a couple of goals and keep the ball the way we can it should be enough.
We have the players - just perform and concentrate.

I pray we don't sit back for 90mins. It won't work. We need to be better in possession than we have been so far this season. In ways this is our cup final.

Can't disagree with anything in the above posts. If we can't win this over 2 legs then there is something seriously wrong at Celtic Park. The Malmo team were assembled for £3 mill in total. We have better players. We have a bigger squad we are on paper much better than them. My concern is still RD. I don't think he has the experience of playing big big games. I think Ronnie is a cleaver man and is a good up and coming manager and who else can we get who would do any better? so we have him and with luck and time he will be excellent , however his 4-2-3-1 rigid formation is the only way he will consider playing and that is his big weakness. He has us too predictable and therefore too easily broken down and he relies on just scoring more than the opposition to get the win. Tactically he is limited. So my concern re Ronnie is that he can only play one way so teams know what he is going to do every time and will work out how to combat that style. We need to keep the ball better than we do and I think Malmo will get 2 goals so we need the same. I'm hoping for 2-2 but this is not where we should be. This is Malmo ffs not Arsenal.

have to say that we should put away this lot with ease. I anticipate getting an early strike then scoring again as they pile forward trying to get it back. expect broonie to boss the midfield and as long as ambrose stays off the park I think we will run out winners either 2-1 or 3-1

Good opening post paradisewon , if we do what we can do we shouldn't have too big a problem . Attack is the best form of defence .

Well who fancies our much lauded defence to go over there and come away with another 0-0? NO? Me neither, our only hope is our forwards and midfielders come up with some goals, I genuinely think Celtic are a better team than Malmo but we will realisticially have to score 2 or more goals over there to qualify, as Malmo WILL score, so we need to equal or better their goals count. COYBIG

That's what I think Tim; Our defending has been flawed for a month or so and we are not keeping clean sheets against any team lately - Gordon looks nervous too in my opinion.
However, from middle to front we seem to be controlling games and creating chances - and importantly scoring goals.
Griffiths is in terrific form and Forrest seems to have his appetite and confidence back.
We are a better team than Malmo, but on their ground, we need big performances and a little luck; COYBIG.

Changes for Tuesday .
In my opinion for what it is worth , Deila is probably only considering possible changes at full back . If Lustig doesn't make it and I am sure we are all praying he will.
I think who replaces him depends on who he plays at left back . If Mulgrew plays , I think it will be Janko , who will be licensed to plough up the right . However if it is Izzy , I think Deila will opt for Ambrose .
Let's hope who ever he goes with , will on the night prove correct .

It would be a big mistake to play either Mulgrew or Ambrose. Both as bad as each other!

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Aug 2015 21:08:30
To my way of thinking if we play Izzy who is a very offensive fullback , it would be very foolhardy to play Janko as right back . Most posters myself included think Janko is very strong going forward , we don't know about his defensive abilities or lack of them. I just think we cannot play both Izzy and Janko . However if Lustig is fit then that will help to make the decision easier .
Deila said after the match he played L G because he wanted to play .
By not mentioning anything about Izzy who would be the only other player who started last Wednesday , leaves me to think he is considering Mulgrew .
No matter who plays where, I hope we all back and support Ronny's decisions
Hail hail .

No. They are not as bad as each other.

My cat is a better defender than Ambrose and her best position is a natural predator.

no way should we sign jordan larsson,it would not be fair on the boy,for so many reasons, least of all the pressure of the comparison with his dad,and if he did not live up to his dads standard the smsm would have a field day. they are probably sharpening their pencils now just at the thought.

If he wasn't Henke's son would you be asking that question? He certainly wouldn't be the answer to our short term needs and we have enough talented young lads who find it tough to get a game.

I think we will definitely go through if our defending is up to scratch. We are the better team but will need to put in a good performance to prove this. Celtic don't need to rub their noses in their defeat. We are better than that and should leave that sort of nonsense to other lesser clubs.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 10:52:44
Makes us no better than them if we do, No need to even mention Malmo, Ronny praising the players (If we qualify) will do me.

We'll be well up for it and I fancy us to score so fingers crossed we get an early goal. HH

24 Aug 2015 11:43:03
I think their attitude stems from fear and a predictable attempt to distract the Celtic manager and team.
I would be delighted with a result and progression to the Group Stages and a wee smug grin.

It reminds me a bit of the Blackburn game when souness made that great comment.
Its tough decision RD has to make, do you park the bus (do we have the defence to cope), or attack to win game outright.
Glad I'm not a manager

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 12:34:14
Depends on who's playin! If ambrose starts at right back I can see a long night for us! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed lustig makes it! If not I'd play janko in there! Thinks we can score over there but so think we've a chance! Let's hope we cut out the sloppy passing this time! Because this team we're playin are average at best!

24 Aug 2015 12:51:52

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 13:56:10
Our defending is always of concern to me. When teams have a period of sustained pressure on us we always look scary at the back. I think Ambrose should get a part time job as a paramedic because if someone's heart stops his performances would surely kick them back into life!

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 18:13:46
We should not even be worried about Malmo, a team put together for €3mill! I said it before on here in the qualifiers money is not the deciding factor and in fact we have more money and bigger squads than most of the teams we come up against. It's simply down to tactics and how much the players want to give for the cause. Who wants it more , Celtic or on this case Malmo? Last season against Maribor I think the players didn't understand what RD was trying to do. Now there is no excuse from RD or his players. From my own point of view I don't think RD's style of play suits the personnel at the club. I don't think RD knows how to set out a team to shut down a game and he will therefore continue to play his way. The system will be the same. I think tomorrow is a game when we should be playing 4-5-1 and see where we are at the end of 45 minutes but regardless why are we all so worried about Malmo. If we go out it will be a disgrace. This is not about how much PL has given Ronnie to spend. We have spent enough to beat Malmo and we should have been out of sight before the second leg. I won't be cutting RD any slack if we fail.

Johnnymac , I think before the second leg of our last qualifying game , most people would agree with you . However in desperate hot conditions and a terrible pitch we defended resolutely throughout and got the result we needed .

Personally I would prefer us to attack more tomorrow and score a couple , as anything could happen in the closing minutes and we could be out .
