Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

23 May 2016 23:34:19
May be just me but I got the feeling today that Peter lawell wasn't a happy man, especially when Rogers mentioned the fact he had spoken to DD about taking the job and what sort of transfer budget he will have. He looked like the sort of person who has been put in their place, I just hope he doesn't try to work against the manager because of it.

Don't let the para set in.
We want rumours of future players, not future rifts.

No paranoia here island Celt just stating what I saw. I am also exited about what the summer may bring but we have seen first hand what PL can do to undermine a manger. Let's be real about this he is dermots man and lawell did not look happy about that. Watch the interview again and you will see bankier smiling with Rogers and lawell sitting there like he had been told off by his dad for not doing his chores properly.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - When I heard Lawwell giving Rodgers job description I thought to myself, 'Well what does John Park do to earn his wages?' He's still lying to the support trying to protect his wee clique.}

24 May 2016 15:33:56
I agree ed that is why I'm a bit worried if lawell and park start butting in and trying to do the managers job then it may lead to Rogers becoming unsettled. Also will they give him their full backing when it comes to signing players etc. Somehow I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers won't put up with them interfering beyond their remit. He'd be straight on the blower to his friend Dermot. I still harbour a sneaky suspicion that Park might leave this summer. He's the ideal man to show Rodgers the ropes but then what does he do? I wouldn't be surprised if Park is seen as a possible replacement for Graham Carr at Newcastle.
Just chill and we'll see what the summer brings but we have a strong personality who knows what he wants and has the clout with the board to make sure he gets it, we've not had that since MON, even Strachan was working under tight financial constraints where cutting costs was more important than the team.}

24 May 2016 19:54:56
Fair play bhoys, I just petrol was a dour ba$tard!

Let's hope any 'clique' gets broken up and we get a bit more transparency - any pigs may fly!

Have you heard anything with regards the backroom staff Ed? You'd think BR will want his team in place as soon as possible. I think John Hughes would be an incredible appointment as assitant manager.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything mate but after what Rodgers said I wouldn't be surprised to see Kennedy being given a role.}

23 May 2016 20:47:41
Ed great turn out for Rodgers but the overall feeling looking at lawell and listening to him he didn't sound or look too happy plus when asked about transfer funds he stopped short of his usual Speil about 6 million pound players he seemed to indicate that we are going to be hit with the same buys Ronnie was hope I'm wrong sorry for being negative on such a fantastic day but something about lawells body language and statements have me slightly worried hope I'm wrong though

Believable1 Unbelievable2

23 May 2016 21:40:37
Stephen m I think you were looking for a negative . How expertise have u been in the past at reading body language?
It was neither the time or place to discuss transfers or the number of £5/ 6m players we may buy . I have no doubt we won't be shopping in the £1 shop and that B R has enough contacts to be able to buy a better class of player at the right price . Players that wouldn't normally think of playing in the SPL will be interested in playing for B R.

You can't bring in a manager on 40 plus grand a week and then expect him to play with excuse the pun himself. I have never been a Brendan Rodgers fan to be honest Liverpool has a place in my heart my old Nana God bless her a Toffee bought me a Liverpool strip circa 1984 she was a Kirkby lass but they are more diplomatic down there than we are up here.

Anyway Brendan is here to build a team and I think and beleave he will be allowed to do that the Irish mafioso have backed this as you just need to look around the stands for the advertising boards the club is being prepared for domination of Scotland forget England take the good nights in Europe when and if they come the rest will take care of it's self. Hail Hail

Im an Irish, Liverpool fan and Celtic has a place in my heart.
I just want to say you are getting a really good manager in Rodgers.
I'd like to think he would have learned from the champions league experience with Liverpool and this will benefit Celtic.
Liverpool jumped the gun in replacing Rodgers with Klopp in my opinion, but I hope we have a great season 2016/ 17 and the same to the Bhoys!

23 May 2016 20:53:05
King if we had unveiled Jurgen Klopp tonight we could have filled the stadium and then some! But with out finances this is our equivalent and we're over the moon that finally we're seeing a bit of ambition from our club.

Evening guys quick question . My cousin booked a table at celtic park in november for a film night . forgive my ignorance but can someone tell me what this entails?
Also well done celtic for getting us a decent manager who i'm sure will get the backing from all.

falkirkbhoy, neanderthals on this site will disagree with anything (even this reply which is aimed at you, no one else) .
Most normal fans might disagree with a comment but they usually follow it up with a reply and explanation. The others.
Wish they would just remove the two buttons completely as they don't seem to serve any real purpose (for the previous reason that somemorons click disagree just because) but it is what it is.

SFA ENQUIRY, "HOW WAS IT ALLOWED TO HAPPEN? "

Office bearers within the SFA top hierachy have started an official enquiry on how it was allowed to happen that Hibernian Football Club won the Scottish Cup on Saturday despite their best efforts of appointing messrs McLean as referee, Maddedn as 4th official and even Hugh Dallas's son as an assistant.
A high ranking official within the SFA said "these 3 gentlemen in particular have a lot of difficult questions to answer when they appear before the Grand Master at our Hampden lodge".

Congratulations on Brendan Rodgers on the wonderful self assured performances meeting the MSSM and the Celtic fans. Of course Brendan is the fifth Irish man appointed Manager of this great club . 5 Irishmen from a total population of less than 5 million is certainly well represented .
I wonder will Brendan keep the assistant job in the family and appoint his cousin who was a well known club Manager in England and also an International Manager of note .

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2016 21:48:44
Aindoh u are right I was stupid and missed out on Sean Fallon .
Willie Malley was of course our first Manager, born in Newry the son of a British Army Soldier . Family moved to Scotland when he was young .

When Brendan talks about his Uncles and cousins great Celtic fans he was referring to his father's side of the house .
Brendan's mother belonged to a non Celtic supporting family and Nigel was a nephew of her.
When Brendan was a young teenager his father brought him to training and games a considerable distance.

The support are phenomenal and the enthusiasm and optimism surrounding this appointment reminds me of the last time we 'pushed the boat out' appointed MON.
I have been a critic of PL in particular since 2012 and felt we never made the strides forward expected, after the demise of Rangers and we wasted a great opportunity?
However, the introduction of Brendan Rodgers is a huge coup and statement of intent to our fans and detractors.
The interview was very impressive, concise and positive and the welcome to paradise by thousands must have blown him away and rubber stamped a great piece of business by DD, PL and all concerned.

Any decent points from it bhoys or was it the monotonous Q&A I could predict? What did he have to say about Gerrard?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2016 17:31:00
JimTim

He mentioned dominating Scottish Football. Said he had offers from Clubs in England and Abroad. Said he would look at the current squad mid June and also look within the youth department. Was looking forward to meeting Scott Brown. On Gerrard he said with a smile i'm sure he's happy with life in America.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 May 2016 17:47:25
Typical press conference jim . I've always supported club so has family. look at existing players first . when talking about spending say 5 mill he said look at youth first as we might have equivalent waiting to be developed . play attractive football. Dominate scotland . I know what means I have to work with.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2016 17:47:40
Cheers stan. I was starting to think the Gerrard thing had legs! Nice to highlight Brown. I hope he gets a good rest and comes back willing and able. Did Pistol have anything to say about pumping significant money into the players as well as the coach? They're usually pretty reserved, self exanatory affairs these things I think. But at least there were plenty there for the buzz.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2016 17:52:59

23 May 2016 18:52:43
Not signing Steve Gerrard shouldn't be a disappointment, Gerrard was a great EPL footballer, I doubt if he would still be a good SPL footballer . It would be a gamble and if it failed it would be seen as a mistake by Rodgers . He doesn't want to start off with a risk like that.

Agree0 Disagree1

23 May 2016 20:39:33
Know it was probably papers talking pants but why in the world would we have signed Steven Gérard?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2016 18:37:18
He wasn't really talking it down as such jim it was a generalisation about spending / budget vs development which I hope he's serious about. he made a god point when asked about budget. press where digging about how much he has and he said every club has a budget whether in epl or here and you have to live within it so you just get on with it . he was praising of rd also . also never committed himself about backroom staff either. full video on celtic you tube jim.

Cheers DRB watched the full thing basically this morning. Typical as you say. I enjoyed BR's interview in Christie's bedroom with that bird more than the actual Q&A.

Daviebhoy, the goss was Gerrard in as a coach. Early days in his coaching days; I read he's been doing a bit with youths like Broony has. If BR thought he could bring something to the team then fair enough I say.

23 May 2016 11:11:42
To be fair Daryll - you've replaced him with Klopp who has set a new record for losing cup finals! You might be wanting rid of him in 6 months! Short memories springs to mind. Anyway personally I would have Guardiola, Simeone, Conte, Mourinho and Pochettino over Klopp everyday, even Unai Emery. I tell you one thing - you won't win the title under Jurgen Klopp, in fact you might not make Europe next year either!

Agree1 Disagree1

23 May 2016 18:57:26
Daryll I am sure most of you Liverpool fans realise that Brendan had won the EPL only for that stupid **** Gerrard tripping over himself . If he had won the first Liverpool League title in well over 20 years, your lot would still be Never walking alone with Brendan.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2016 08:48:16
To be fair the only reason we did so well that season was Suarez! The reason I have sympathy for you is because of how lazy he is as the eds on the Liverpool sight say he is too busy running his property empire, getting his teeth whitened and getting it on with his secretary. I think he is better than Ronny but I can't see him taking you guys any further. I mean you already have the league in the bag for the next few years at least, maybe win a cup or two but I can't see you going anywhere in Europe under him! Which I am assuming is what you fans want. Being Scottish I want nothing more that Scottish teams doing well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed023's Note - I loved his comment yesterday about not spending money and that 5-10 million player could be in the academy - talk about complete bull from a man who blocked any route through to the first team by just buying for the sake of it. The likes of Flanagan and Sterling only got into the first team because of injuries and the transfer window being closed.

Being Irish I do have a soft spot for Celtic as nearly all my friends follow the club and to be honest I really hope it works out for Celtic and Rodgers (as much as I dislike the guy)}

23 May 2016 07:00:30
Just want to congratulate you with your new manager. Brendan Rodgers should be a step up from RD. Going to be exciting to see how he will set up the team and witch players coming in. Also how Ajer will fit in his type of football. Think the one's that didn't like players in wrong positions under RD, will feel the same under Rodgers, but will be exciting to see.
Best of luck guys, new manager, new days!

Good man Norwegianred . I noticed Brendan Rodgers said the same thing as R D, it will take us all to get success. Unfortunately after continuous unsought by MSSM and then poor results more and more Celtic fans stopped supporting . The cup semi final was the last straw . I see a lot of R D in B Rodgers but a more experience, more accomplished performer . Players are more likely to listen to Rodgers who has more experience dealing with any revolt.

I agree Norwegianred your posts on Rd and players that were up and coming stars were always informative and good reading. I'm happy with the appointment of br and looking forward to lifting more trophies, however still tinged with a touch of what might have been under Rd if only he'd been given the same support as Rodgers will get I feel from fans, board, players etc and a bit more say so on it's and outs. Anyway looking forward to the new season under br, a few quality additions, move commons and others on and make sure we keep kt and i'd be looking for a treble this season but as always good to see Celtic picking up the league which is the one that always counts. hail hail.
