Dafabet, Ballochi, Lh86, see you have formed your own pressure Brigade, most of the comments that appear in the statement issued by the new pressure group, seem to be lifted directly from your comments, I am Not one for General Sweeping statements, but if it is not you 3 bandidos, then you can join them on twitter, where you will be welcomed into this anti Celtic, Anti Irish "pressure group with open arms. I am now done with this topic, but just saw the press releases for this group and could not help but laugh.
P. S. if you did not know already, "lose Talk Costs Lives"
That is not an Irish Statement, but taken from numerous Second World War posters, just in case you or your friends in the new pressure group would like to read something into it that is not there.
Sorry Lads could not resist it.

This is the work of SMSM and others hostile to our club turning our own fans words against us. We must be united, let's show the scumbags that, starting on Wednesday night. United we are unique.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's TRIFC fans that have set it up with the backing of the press. Look how quickly the Evening Times had a story on their website about it all.}

Hook line and sinker Malika.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 20:57:07
Hahaha made me giggle there malika! More utter guff from yourself as per usual, but it gave me a chuckle anyway! The one about you not being one for sweeping statements in particular had me in stitches! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Agree5 Disagree2

23 Jul 2017 20:57:11
So we show them we won't be split. Give the northern Norwegians (not ma da's people) hell on Wednesday then we have a great day out on Sunderland on saturday.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 22:03:23
Oh Bhoys you are worried, so sorry for that, sweeping statements like let them start a team in Ireland and they can all go there, are the particular forte of you guys, the GB are all nobs, is also one of your sweeping statements, both used by this group Tonight.

I hope I do not post utter guff, as I have always thought that I try to be direct reasonable and balanced in my comments on here over the yrs.
I wait for ballochi comments, don't you have his mobile number guys?
Let's hope that is the end of it. btw these are the first 2 posts in a while where you two have not posted any anti GB or Irish comments, so that is a good start.

Guys as I said in my original post on this subject, Sorry but I could not resist.
Tomorrow is Monday so I will get back to on pitch comments from then.
Lads you have no defense, they have caught you Hook, Line and Sinker, you have been used and abused by the dark side.

23 Jul 2017 22:33:03
The only people gaining from what has happened recently is Rosenborg and I don't for one second believe any Celtic fan will be happy to see empty seats on Wed night. The place should be full and it should be rocking with the entire support getting right behind the Manager and Team because that's what they deserve.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 22:51:32
Jesus see for being done with this topic your not half still going on about it! And no defense for what? Voicing our own opinion about the GB and not putting them up on your wee pedestal like a love sick wee boy! And it's Monday tomorrow so u'll be back to on pitch comments! Hahaha! U sure u actually remember any on pitch stuff? Would u like me to tell u who we're playing on Wednesday or will u wait til the GB release another statement letting u know it's ok to get back to football matters! ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

24 Jul 2017 06:13:26
You guys have no idea what my thoughts are on a united Ireland , Palestine , the troubles , Scottish nationalism , poverty , or any other subjects . You also don't have any clue what I have contributed to any of these causes in the past or still do . Just because I don't think Celtic park is the place to air my opinions on these subjects and I have a crazy fantasy about people going to Celtic park with their only agenda being supporting the team and cheering them on to victory. Believe me kids you don't have a clue where I have been or what I have seen .

Agree4 Disagree1

24 Jul 2017 06:18:53

24 Jul 2017 14:49:33
Fair point Welshboy the GB won't be mentioned again by me. My thoughts on them are well documented. Time to move on. Personally I think we will take 3 or 4 off Rosenberg on Wednesday night. Hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 17:00:11
i fancy johnny Hayes to score more goals than Armstrong did last season so ideally I think we should just sell him to the highest bidder with a little sell on clause. he's had one good season whose to say he won't crumble like it has in the past with players i. e lee naylor, izagiurrie and we we have a ready made replacement in oli ntcham.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

23 Jul 2017 19:05:07
I agree Daz that Hayes would score more, but only if he's given a decent amount of game time. I think he's hungry to show what he can do and im sure plenty will disagree but I'd start him against Rosenberg. But if Paddy comes back then he's supersub.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 19:09:23
Ad play him before forrest on wed think he's more productive.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 19:46:14
definetly play him before forrest. Don't get me wrong think Forrest has come on leaps and bounds since Rodgers came. But I rate Hayes a lot. I'm with you Viking Tim hope young Roberts comes home but just can't see it. If it was to happen it wouldn't be till we are in the Champs league group stages IF we make it to there.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 19:50:15
I think Hayes is a really shrewd signing Mally but it's early days to be saying he's more productive than Gump who managed to keep even wee Paddy's arse warming the bench a lot of the time last season. โ˜˜๏ธ.

Ed see the GB have issued a statement with regards the ban.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I seen it last night. I love a good statement, me!}

23 Jul 2017 15:23:36
Aye it was a belter. hopefully the GB and the club can come to some sort of peace and move on. doesn't sound as if they're going anywhere ed.

Agree5 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The just need to give it a bye with all the outwardly political stuff. Why not borrow slogans for banners from Rebel songs - football in general is full of plagiarism in the songs fans sing etc - but at least make it applicable in some way to supporting Celtic. I actually thought that the Brendan Rodgers ones were quite imaginative.
There's a lot worse happened and is still happening in Scottish football than a daft banner a group of young daft lads made up and the Club stay silent on. As for the overall reaction, the way some people are going on I'm amazed there's a shortage of Priests considering the way they must have lived their lives growing up.}

23 Jul 2017 16:06:54
Totally agree ridiculous over reaction. just have look at games from italy the ultras fans are mental and in spain with the catalans and the basque country its all political. football as av said earlier used to be for the working class and if you put thousands of working class people together youll get politics its been going on for years.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And it'll go on for years. It might get even worse when you look at the mess the world's in. Look at the Russian league as well their huge racism and hooligan problems. How about this from Brazil in March there?

23 Jul 2017 18:30:30
Brilliant ed if it wasnt for they pesky banners.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Did you notice the wee guy with the Hoops on when they're climbing the gate? I bet that's Welshbhoy! ;)

23 Jul 2017 18:55:47
Haha belter.

23 Jul 2017 20:08:56
Wow, after watching that video, shocking, this banner issue obviously is clearly exaggerated here, but it's enough ammunition for the gb haters in fairness.

Ed, Talking to my physio the other day in relation to shortage of priests

When was the last time you seen a YOUNG priest? must be more than a decade for me anyway

You / anybody else came across one of late (Y)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - We had a young Priest/Chaplain from the Apostleship of the Sea talking at Mass a few weeks and he was pretty young, mid 20s I'd say.}

23 Jul 2017 21:48:46
My cousin did his priest training had his heart set on it from a young age but gave it up after about a year just found it wasn't for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - My parish priest is actually my cousin, he's a few years older than me but not 50 which is still youngish for a priest these days.}

23 Jul 2017 22:05:28
A young priest was actually ordained here today in Oranmore, it was announced at mass this morning in Galway, he's 24 years old, god bless him ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ฆ.

And just as well you have a cousin on speed dial Ed the amount of times you need to confess :-P.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Oh I don't go to Confession with him - feck that! I've got 2 chapels both within half a mile of me so I nip up to the other one for Confession.}

Should have known better Ed that you had that permutation thought through already (y)

23 Jul 2017 14:40:28
Tesla369, your question is a bit like playing games I for one didn't enjoy the banner since it was a NI team we where playing I also get it that we as a club and family had to put up with a week of bigoted stuff highlighted in the press all week about our players and club I also can see the point of the GB wanting some pay back but as we all no it not accepted in this day and age in a modern society like Scotland we as a country are trying to move on so are our families in Ireland so take the bait and bite like sharks was a let down for me personally.

we are better than that by a country mile we have enough crap too deal with without causing trouble for ourself my friend and on the union jack that made me smile it really did our club as we all know it is Irish through and through but it's a SCOTTISH CLUB aye it might be in Britain but that's a commonwealth flag ( union jack) our flag is the saltire, so no I would not want a union jack there as there are two other before it my friend and finally I live in Hamilton Scotland and class myself Scottish not British, hope that answers your question mate, just my opinion hail hail, in Brendan we trust.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

23 Jul 2017 21:57:22
Yes shandy but the club is "open to all"

Not just scots irish and guys like yourself who don't identify as british

The question is what if i do? Is it ok for me to have a british flag?

Being a club open to all you should accept that as well.

Agree1 Disagree2

24 Jul 2017 14:43:04
Tesla I know the clubs open to all I was just going on your union jack point bud and I u want to take a union jack am not bothered myself your choice my friend and I said the union jack would and could b there but for me it would be the tri colour saltire but u know as well as I do the union Jack's a British flag our clubs roots are Irish/ Scottish so I wouldn't imagine seeing one in the Celtic sections never have to be honest but as you say if your feeling the need to bring a union jack that's your right my friend as you class yourself British and yes I know Scotland is part of britian so I can't argue that point but what I would say is probably not everyone would have my opinion hail hail.

On the let's get back to football note best goal ever seen at Celtic Park.

For me, Larsson nutmegs Konterman then chips Kloss.

23 Jul 2017 15:09:45
I thought it was Hendry he megnutted. I can't pick between Maloneys 40 yard screamer versus Oldco or Nakamuras 40 yard screamer versus Oldco.

His hit against the oldco was a screamer tae.

Dont think its the best i've seen but Cadetes debut goal v Aberdeen was special.

Agree that Larsson goal takes some beating. Been some pretty incredible goals during that era against that lot at CP, Naka, Maloney, Lambert, Thompson, Sutton.

23 Jul 2017 13:54:35
See the scottish criminal justice system have came down hard on the scum ajax hooligans who nearly killed a couple of celtic after attacking 4 bars last season they've dropped the case a told the dutch to deal with it cause they canny be bothered . disgraceful but to be expected.

Down to transfer rumours, So further talks with Caulker this week?
Does anyone have any further information on Armstrongs contract situation? And also what positions does everyone think will be strengthened? I reckon first team quality CB, RW and a striker would see our squad stronger.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Jul 2017 15:54:34
CB definitely with Caulker looking like the man which is fine for me! Still think we will sign paddy Roberts but only if we qualify for champions league. Reckon if he shines there then he would be away next summer. Still need another striker but no idea who!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I seen earlier that Guardiola has said youngsters at City will not be given much of an opportunity to play for the first team next season.}

23 Jul 2017 17:06:14
I just seen that ED. Patrick himself liked a link to the article on Twitter. Surely he will come round? I'm feeling optimistic about paddy being a Celtic player. Are you anywhat confident in this ED?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I am mate, not overly confident but I've always said I thought he would end up back here if a deal with City could be done.}

23 Jul 2017 21:22:42

as a few have said back to the football bhoys.

Righ favourite game you have been too?

My 1st game was the 5-0 at love street when we won the league my grandpa got me a ticket as a treat funnily enough he was a hun tho he always told me he supported clyde lol. Was only young then so probably didn't apprecitate how good it was.
So as a n experienceI'd have to say the 6-0 win at killie when we won the league that day. Place was absolutely buzzing we had 3 stands and the ring of COYBIG being chanted was out of this world.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

23 Jul 2017 12:52:00
I still give my uncle pelters to this day for the love street game he got nutmegged by Owen archdeacon in the build up to I think the 3rd goal There's that many too choose from but I still loved being at anfield when big john scored and the stand was literally rocking thought it was going to collapse ๐Ÿ˜.

Liverpool 2 nil @ Anfield in they days things were exceptional for me and took nine of my pals (2 huns btw! ) in two limos from Paisley to Anfield lol a lot of beers spilt that night when that ball left John Hartson a swear I knew it was going in before anyone with the view I had of the flight of the ball

Got in @ 4 and made work @ 7! But they days are gone thankfully (that is why a was burnt oot @ 36! )

Bruccee: I think that was my first Celtic game. Was it also the one with Maggie Thatcher? I got a program signed by Jock Stein that day - no idea what happened to it. Somewhere in my sister's attic. If I recall it wasn't long before he died at Cardiff Arms. Or maybe that 1986? Brilliant summers day that was. may also have been my first time in a pub lol.

Loved the penalty shootout game v Spartak the game had everything end to end flowing football, hitting the woodwork, missed penalty. Was so tense it was terrifying. Swapped season ticket that night with girlfriend at the times brother so was on 1st row behind the goal what a night to swap. As far as crazy celebrations go it was up there with big Jans last min winner v the old Rangers and Donatis v Shakhtar.

{Ed007's Note - I loved watching Lambert in the Hoops, what a player he was but he never really got the credit or appreciation from the support that he deserved while he was playing.}

23 Jul 2017 15:50:17
I remember my first Celtic game was a 0-0 draw with Motherwell at hampden in the Scottish cup in early 90's then they beat us 4-2 I think in the replay. Stood in the terracing and got soaked.

First game at CP was also a 0-0 and against Raith rovers. Sat in the second last row of the top tier and couldn't see a thing because of fog!

Best Celtic goal that no one has mentioned yet would be di canio v Aberdeen with the golden boots at pittodrie.

The winter in 1979 was really bad and a lot of games were rearranged because of it. It came down to a game at CP and Celtic were down to 10 men and down 2-1 against the oldco. Johnny Doyle had swung a boot at Alex Mcdonald and after a bit of play acting JD was sent off on 50 mins. The second half seen George McCluskey get us back to 2-2. Peter McCloy was the oldco goalie and made a blunder for Celtics third. A late screamer from Murdo MacLeod saw us win 4-2 with 10 men and go on to win the league with big Billy McNeil as our manager celtic park and the Jungle was bouncing.
Celtic team:
Latchford, McGrain, Lynch, Aitken, McAdam, Edvaldsson, Provan, Conroy (Lennox) , McCluskey, MacLeod, Doyle Sub: Davidson
Celtic scorers : Aitken (66) , McCluskey (74) , Jackson og (85) , MacLeod (90)
Sent Off: Doyle 51 mins.

New poster here and long time reader I think we need to get back to talking about the football remember the invincibles and the treble winning team we had just a few weeks ago why are we arguing about a banner that was designed to wind up the away fans not the home fans! I agree it's no right buts it's also not the end of the world.

As a young child it didn't take long to fall in love with the Green and White Hoops. The buzz of getting first view of the park coming into the Jungle or the Celtic End. Sitting on the railing watching my heroes Tommy Burns and Paul McStay even through trophyless years and not once did i not enjoy going to games or even think about not going just dreaming about the day we would start winning Titles and Cups again. Now in all this time 30+ years of following Celtic home and away i was never brought up on anything other than what Celtic were about as a Football Club. I don't ever recall my family once mentioning the IRA. I have never once sang about them they mean nothing to me i was born in Scotland and i attend Celtic games to watch a game of football. What others do is up to them but if they want to preach to people that the IRA have anything to do with our great clubs history then they are quite frankly full of it. Support your football team or stay away. My question to the people who want to chant IRA songs or display IRA banners do you do it the other 6 days of the week or is purely the 1 day at Celtic Park? I work with many an Irish man who look to the future not the past.

Couldn't agree more Stan! We have a vital CL game in 3 days! Let's get back to talking about who do we think should start and what formation we all think we should play, or are rosenborg actually any good! Lol.

The club used to sell records with the rebels in them and ira songs sung since before you were born.

You can't simply change history because you don't sing rebels

Also telling fans to stay away? Really on your high horse.

I ain't on any horse and if you think i am in the minority inside Celtic Park you are mistaken. As the Irish at my work said "Its 2017 they should grow up"

Telsa. Look at the comments. There is no place for flying para military banners inside or outside celtic park or anywhere else. If you want to encourage this behaviour and join in, why not drop your name and address off at the local police station and see how long it takes to get banged up. Because if that is what you believe we should all behave then there is no place for you in Celtic Park or any where else in Scotland.

There are also plenty of irish who also support the GB.

Tesla you and others are making this out to be the GB v the rest where do i mention the GB? I have said on here numerous occassions i am willing to make payments towards banners etc. My comment is based on the few who think its ok to glorify the IRA in any section at CP. As i said there is guys at my work from Cork and Dublin and they are embarrassed and disgusted by it.

I do think that a helluva lot has been made out of a relatively small indiscretion the other night, as per normal by the msm, you would think we had wrecked and terrorised a city center or piled on to a pitch in our thousands to attack other fans innocently celebrating a victory that was a long time coming but surely I'm not the only one who doesn't care what the guy sitting next to me at Celtic park thinks of the trouble in Ireland or Palestine or who they voted for or what there thoughts about poverty or social justice are? And I certainly have no interest in passing my thoughts on these subjects while Celtic are playing.

The over reaction by our own club and fans is what's blown this out of proportion and played right into the hands of the man. It's been a perfect deflection for the club away from the fact that they have let us down.
Still seething I'm going to miss the 2 games. Oh well off to Sunderland next week wonder what trouble that may bring ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

So if i bring a union jack, you will be ok with that?

Well said Ballochi, there are a lot of troubles in our imperfect world but when Celtic are playing all I want is for them to be successful, that might be a bit selfish, but I couldn't give 2 hoots about anything else. Let's all get back to supporting our most famous club. Hail Hail.

Absolutely tesla hand on heart, my father came to Britain in the sixties, working in London initially and then moving to Scotland , this country has been good to my family we have worked hard and paid our taxes , I have no hatred for any flag or country , all places have good and bad people in them .

Ok then why don't you bring one to the next game then?

If u would be happy with a union jack, even as a Scotsman it shows how little about history you actually know.

The Union Jack is a symbol of imperialist Britannia and how it devided and conquered the other nations, let's kid ourselves on here, iv lived in Scotland all my life and have worked hard etc, doesn't change the fact that the club is steeped in Irish/ catholic history, and many supporters have pro republican views, can't believe that some fans are turning on the ones with the flag, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชโœŒ๏ธ.

This is like a whack a mole game every time I answer a question you change it, you asked me if I would be offended if YOU took a union jack, the answer is still no, why should I be, it's just a flag, but I wouldn't take one to cp no, because of the reaction it would get and the fact it means very little to me personally.

Can I ask the two people that disagree , to what the family history ? Or the fact all countries have good and bad people in them?

Think we are all going to need to put this GB argument to bed bhoys and ghirls.
Seems like we have all been going over it forever and don't think anyone is going to agree.
Just need to let the club and GB sort it.
Hopefully both can give a bit of ground and we can get back to supporting the team on the park.
