wer r rangers fans getting this idea that we nd 2 sell before we buy wen neil lennon has already came out and said he doesnt nd 2 sell any1 but would b willing 2 listen 2 offers for players who dont feature is his first team plans

To bring in a more than a few we'll need to offload a few - basically because we've a bit of debt and need to be careful, because I don't see the board letting us have a large squad full of players earning a fair wage and not playing and because we've not got a shot at the CL this season where we'd get more money for losing 6-0 in a single game than we would winning about 3 games in the Europa League.

Personally I don't think we'll spend more than 5M total this summer. There're obviously quality players on Bosman's but if we're to bring in a biggish signing (i.e. Keane etc. which I don't see anyway or a good player from the EPL, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga etc. or a key player from other good clubs) we'll definitely need to offload.

I think there's quality to be had in the Bosman market and I wish we'd make more use of it and IMO Rangers should do the same. Fair enough you might pay a large wage but if it's a quality player it could be worth paying 25k a week (1.3M pa) than paying a fee and 10k a week and buying mediocrity.

We dont need more than a few, we only need to tweak the squad slightly The manky mob lost five or six players so have to get loads in (which Whyte wount allow)

hi ed what do you think about big connar sammon ex killie, he would be a good target man and wouldn't cost too much and would score a lot more than murphy and sammy put together {Ed007's Note - It wouldn't be hard to be better than Samaras, whether he could cut it at a big club though I'm not sure but he would be worth a shout. I wouldn't be ecstatic if NL signed him but I would give him a chance to prove himself.}

Looking back we probably should've signed him as I think we were probably considering it last season or before as he had been a standout for Killie for while. However if you'd asked most people they'd have said he wasn't good enough. Now he's down south with Wigan and in the EPL so we'd be paying a larger fee and a bigger wage than he's probably worth when compared to what other players are out there.

Incidentally the same probably goes for Adam Rooney who had a good season last year and who IMO would've been worth a look on a Bosman. John Sutton is another I think we should've looked at but obviously he's joined Hearts.

Good shout on sutton i think mate - he not scared to put head in where it hurts and has scored a few wi a poor ish team

Hopefully we do the business tomorrow - Hibs is rarely an easy place to go so putting ourselves 2 in front of Rangers and striking a win at Hibs off the card would be a good start to the season even if still early days.

Not really gloating, Hibs will be hard but think we will do it, just winding up a couple of bears on here earlier brave guys with no names, if they dish it out they must expect to take it. Timalloy

I think celtic will walk it at hibs in all honesty.This is assuming last season is anything to go by. My prediction is 4-1

Hi Ed, this is my first time posting but ive been a long time reader.

I am very happy with the singings so far but i am concerned about the number "trials" we appear to be offering potential targets. Does anybody else find think the same? I understand we need to check the player out and make sure he fits our style and squad but is that not what the scouting network is for? i dont remember the unknown Kayal, Izzaguire or Hooper being invited for a trial so why are proven players like Stipe Pletikosa being asked to prove themselves. The man has 82 caps, played at the highest level in the game and will cost nothing so we need to get him signed before he is stolen from us. I hope we push a deal through for Knowledge Musona, i checked him out on youtube and he looks like a cracking player. Reminded me of Samuel Eto'o and could be a good deal for us. Is there any news on this deal Ed? Kepp ut the good work.

Very good mornin to u ed. I know u dont like people posting bookies odds but thought u might enjoy this. Was watchin SSN this mornin and they were discussin the new SPL season and were showin the odds for top scorer. They were offerin 8/1 for Omer Damari. Maybe worth a wee punt lol

how can the mutants say they have a better starting 11 than us if we totally played them off the park last season with 10 men in the 2 each scottish cup game

Because celtic didn't win the spl is the most obvious reason? lets see who won the final? which team bottled it and lost at inverness?maybe they aren't better for a few games but they do the job in the games that matter unlike celtic in the end celtic got what they deserved by making football so overly controversial rangers were god awful and didnt deserve to lift the title for their play on the pitch but they warrented with how they behaved off the pitch despite being total pi$h

IMO their defence has the potential to be twice as good as ours. Izaguirre is twice the player Wallace and Papac are so no worries there, but McGregor is much better than Zaluska and if they manage to keep Bougherra and sign Cuellar they simply won't concede as many as we will. Without conceding goals you can't lose games. Obviously we're after another keeper but I don't think that position is the only at the back that could be strengthened.

Basically I'm seriously hoping we bring in another CB. Wilson to me is relatively unknown but I've heard he's the business and has been a long-term target. I'm less than confident in any of the others as they all have major flaws. Major I like in the team as I think we miss him when he's out and is solid in the tackle and deals well with stronger players but a bit on the slow side, Loovens is error prone and Mulgrew at times loses his concentration. Rogne definitely has shown potential but is inexperienced and was shocking against Rangers in the CIS final (albeit not fully fit which to be fair is an issue as he's been injured a hell of a lot).

From the midfield forward I'd say we have the better side overall and in terms of squad strength in depth we've an advantage but defensively I still think we're a bit behind Rangers. We should've sorted our defence out seasons ago but I'd say this season in particular we need to get the errors at the back out of our game as it was blatant errors/stupidity at the back that cost us most of the goals we conceded last year rather than simply quality play by the opposition, at home at least. I can deal with conceding goals by great opposition play or a bit of individual quality (e.g. Riordan at CP) but stupid goals of our own making make my blood boil.

Here we go again fs. Why is it celtics fault that a referee and his boss both lied to our manager but never got sacked? And I believe george peat left Lennys hearing for over an hour only to come back and help dish out an epic ban. Let's see... Oh aye, Willie Collum (more like Gollum) gave rangers a penalty that he wasnt even looking at But of course we should follow rangers example of being 100% dignified, just as they are when they are so often faced with this kind of Bullsh*t. Wellboy behave yourself mate.

R*****s winning the league does not tell the full story on who was the best team last season. In 4 old firms last season Celtic kept 3 clean sheets, and beat yous in the Scottish. In the end we fell a point short but we wont make the same mistakes this season.. bring it on :) Craig

Rangers conceded more goals but also scored more so a think our strikers are just as good infact better than celtics and as for dodgy penalties don, t even start way that s**t you had a record number of penalties awarded last season and a few of them were dodgy n wot about callum murray cup replay fleck got booked and he was nowhere near kayal and that c**t ran into whittaker and he got booked you lot are never happy the BEST team wins the league goodbye and good luck

To the b** b** who said that celtic got a record number of penalties last season did you mean a record for celtic because they hardly ever get them? and if i recall correctly the season before barry " i think i'm a hard man " ferguson left he scored 18 goals with 13/14 from the penalty spot.
