Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

January looks like it could be one of the most interesting transfer windows in many years. Normally I don't hold out a great deal of hope when it comes to us making signings but given Brendan's frustrations during the summer window I believe (hope) the board will back him and I can't help but be excited. Have you heard of any possible deals Ed?

Eds holding out on us Ice. He does this every window, playing all coy and almost disinterested when really he loves it and it's his favourite time of year. He even knows who were getting but doesn't want to spoil it for us. Proper gent out ed is.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I agree mate, he needs a lot more questions about it as he loves it and is always telling us on our editor widget how much he enjoys answering random questions about players he has never heard of that people have seen mentioned on social media connected with a completely different club.}

Is the rumours true about Timothy weah coming on loan true?
He looks a fantastic player from what I’ve seen of him, his old man was decent too.

Not posted for a while Ed. Just reading. But just wanted tho pop on and say the bluntness makes me chuckle. When every fan gets ansy for the window, you get the dread. I'm not laughing at your demise, just humours me to see it develop. Then the Gifys come out and I get a proper chuckle.
So Ed what you heard, any rumours. Lol.

For me it's time to burst the bank for a quality striker that will improve the team immediately not a stop gap Defoe or Carrol etc. The reason being is the fact that while titles aren't awarded at Christmas we're nearing halfway through the season and if the second half is a repeat of the first there won't be much between us and the newbies. For all our quality they are scoring every bit as freely as us with our better defensive record thanks largely to Boyata who may leave and Benkovic who's on loan accounting for the gap. It's time to flex our financial muscle stop the kidding and making sure the gap widens in the new year.

They are scraping through games Jfp. They are rank and will stumble over the line this season. They will be lucky to get 2nd.

I watched them today Kev and agree they are absolutely pants. I’m a bit mystified myself as to why they are as close. I just want Celtic to dig deep and put the league well out their reach and wouldn’t like to see us go through the season with the limited striking options we have at present especially after losing anc not replacing Dembelle.

Just watching Sevco highlights and they just scraped the win.
I don't think they are any better than when we played them at Celtic Park when I was amazed we only scored one - and I am even more amazed (and embarrassed) at the established managers of our SPL rivals who look up the table to a rookie with a shower of journeymen/ misfits.
As for Celtic; we are untouchable on top form and have been excellent recently - even though under strength - and we have several players back in training - returning from injury, itching to get a game.
I am sure we have enough class and ability to win both upcoming games, but I agree we do need additional quality, including a striker in the january window and I think the club will do all they can.

Jfp we did burst the bank for a striker . but he's just learning his trade . was eddy the right player to spend that amount on? . hopefully he will develop into that . but I agree with you we need a quality striker.

I don't know the exact details of Dembele's departure in the summer but it looked to me like a decision that was taken on the spur of the moment.
I think that Dembele should have been told that he is here till January and sent home to get over his tantrum, it would have allowed us to work on getting a replacement in. There was nothing surer that being left with only 2 strikers both would end up injured at the same time. We need to avoid getting ourselves into these situations.

It's time to bring in a quality striker, who is relatively unknown, and reasonably priced, some young guy who is playing for an unfashionable club, in some obscure league, but who oozes quality and ability, bursting the bank for an established striker is madness and will leed to financial ruin, .

What I'd love is a big striker who likes to get his head on the end of a cross. Larsson, Sutton and Hartson were exceptional at it. Haven't had anyone like that since. Apart from maybe V of H but not as good, obviously.

Dembele simply has to be replaced if this team is not to go backwards. I'd also say the same about Benkovic now (or Van Dyck lately) . Replace the best players that your business model necessitates you will lose, or everything goes (including the business model) .

Larson wasn't that big, isn't, I mean, is he not 5'9" or 5'10"

Pretty sure Henke was 5'10" but he was a special breed.

I mean what is the point of a long contract, well I know it's supposed to give the club some kind of hold on the player, and the player has security of a fixed income for so many years, but if the player gets wanderlust, this club never seems to hold the player to the contract, there was no need to sell Wanyama, he still had a couple of years left, but he wanted to leave, same with Dembelle, I think Celtic should have been less accomodating to what the players wanted and more interested in what was in Celtics best interests, .

One of the first games I can remember seeing on TV was England v Scotland, or the other way around, I think it was 4-3 for England, or it might have been for Scotland, I think it was a corner or it might have been a cross, but all I can truly remember is Denis Law, leaping like a whatever, and hanging in the air, and heading the ball into the back of the net, Denis isn't that tall either, if your good enough, then your big enough, I think is the message.

Henrik Larsson was head and shoulders above the competition, and it had nothing to do with his height.

Rangers was awful that first half. On chances created St Johnstone should've been 4-1 up at half time. If they have a half like that against us we'll punish them. They looked very average with the ball and was giving it away at the back with little pressure and when you think how we press teams they don't stand a chance. All the Morelos fan club will be silenced as he'll likely draw another blank and be marked out the entire game by Boyata and Benkovic.

Ed,

Just seen Rodgers' comments about Australia calling Rogic up is not only unfortunate for us but also Rogic, do you think there's any chance Australia will back down or do you think that's the end of it?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - I don't think the Australian FA will budge.}

23 Dec 2018 05:13:54
Going by what McDonald said, this seems unlike them. You see any reason for them doing this? It's not as if he's missing our fixture for one of theirs, he'll be training instead.

He is an important part of their team and they will want to work on tactics. I don't know why everyone is up in arms here, we know this could happen when we sign players from that region. The same goes for the African players or players from the Americas.

I've seen some fans demanding that he rejects the Aussie FA and makes a stand etc. but I think that's an unfair position to put him in. BR's comments over the past couple of days have been quite protective of Tam and making the point that the decision will be out of his hands.

If countries have that much power over players they should then contribute to their wages . the club should always come first then release the player if needed.

He's under contract at Celtic so I personally think we should have some sort of say whether he goes or not, especially when it comes down to missing fixtures simply to train a few extra days.
