Hi Ed, Do you think BR will be given substantial backing from the Board this summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - There's no doubt that money will be spent but it depends what you think is substantial mate, he'll be given money to spend and no doubt it could never be enough for some.}

23 Apr 2018 22:51:11
In Martin O'Neils first year Celtic's total football wage bill was 4th in the UK .
Now we are lucky if we are in the top 40.
The Board and Brendan seem to be in agreement as to what money can be spent and there won't be a mid window clash between management and funds .
We will be likely to target young players approaching their best and more mature players maybe just coming off best . Both are high risk but that's the market that we have funds for.

I think we need to get rid of a few players too, we have a big squad and a lot of wasted money in it I believe.

24 Apr 2018 07:51:51
And that's the problem Jaj. To trim a squad we need potential buyers, however; the ones we want to sell nobody wants. We are going tho be stuck with some dead weight until the contracts run down.

Just shows how much the financial side of the game has changed since 2001 in the UK Chris. Be lucky to be in the top 30 nowadays. Sickens me that many of those clubs above us are 1/ 4 The size of Celtic but can outspend us because of the free cash handed to them from tv.

Think we will sell Moussa, Armstrong, Jozo, Rogic so that has got to be £25mill? that's assuming we get £15mill plus for Moussa. So if we reinvested that then we will be ok. Would need a chunk of that on a striker but not sufficient for a European push but we don't have the cash for that in any case.

Agree0 Disagree3

24 Apr 2018 14:45:51
So you have Armstrong, jozo and rogic for 10 million? If Rogic wants a move I would say around 10-15 million alone. A few million for Armstrong as he will be in his last year. As for Jozo and Boyata a couple million each. That would give you around 25 million before Dembele value.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rogic only has a year left to run on his deal too, Pud but even if he had five years left there's no chance on God's green earth we would get anywhere near £10 million for him.}

24 Apr 2018 19:04:43
Old man Chris

4th highest in the UK? Does that count clubs who had side contracts or not? 😳.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2018 19:24:58
Of our regular starters I don't think we should want to sell any unless a player is entering the last year of contract .
If we sell too many of our regulars we may find some the players we have bought in may not settle in and play well at Celtic .
Too many Celtic fans are still reading or heeding the main stream Scottish media . Losing 3 domestic games in two seasons is no reason to panic and change dramatically what we are doing.

What's everyone's opinion on the new Top? At first I wasn't keen but it's growing on me. No doubt we'll still sell a bucket load of them.
Well folks it could be worse, we could have The Primark Manufacturer of Sports Gear, Hummel😂😂.

Not for me, looks like a Sporting Lisbon top. Think it is ridiculous Celtic have allowed NB to break up the hoops. As said at weekend i won't be buying and i have every top since 1986 in a box.

23 Apr 2018 21:32:34
Is that what ED is modelling further down the page?
It's certainly a bold move by the club, but I can't see it catching on.

23 Apr 2018 21:56:41
Love it, it reminds me of the 2001 kit.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Apr 2018 22:55:05
It's of no real importance to me, I just hate Celtic playing in anything other than hoops but I appreciate that colour clashes inevitably mean different strips . Of course three new strips for a club with such a massive worldwide support base earns a great amount of much needed money.

24 Apr 2018 09:46:21
as long as we stay away from those effeminate colours, like pinks, washed greens etc. (no offence Ghirls and they are ok for the ladies team) .
I am not homophobic and it's just my opinion.

How can NB go from getting it so right to getting it so wrong? The current home top is one of the best I've ever seen. I rushed out to buy it the same week it was launched and I don't normally do football tops. Next seasons is, in my humble opinion, an absolute shocker. It's not the hoops because of the white patches under the arms. Even the sponsor looks cheap.
Sorry, Celtic. I'm not buying it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It looks like the Liverpool top has the badge etc embroidered on while ours is the usual stick on stuff that peels off in the washing. Why are NB making our kits being made to an inferior quality?}

24 Apr 2018 15:22:09
Don't get that Ed, even when you look closeley at the weave, the Liverpool top looks a much better material. It's also a quid cheaper in their shop compared to ours!
I will go in and have a feel and a close up look at it but I suspect its not for me this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The design of the neck means I won't be buying it either, Rab but the the quality looks like the Nike tops we had a few years back that my mam described as "you could shoot peas through".}

Not Celtic but I have just seen the press release which has not been distributed.
Their Royal Highness's Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge wish to announce the birth of their third child, a boy, today; St. George's Day.
As the name George has already been taken by their first son, and also in recognition of the the Saintly day on which the child was born, and also in recognition of the UK leaving the Parish of the European Union into a greater Global context, they have decided to name him as follows:
Mohamed (the most popular boy's name in UK) ,
Vihaan (meaning "dawning of a new era") in Urdu in recognition of our greater trading relationship with the sub-continent,
Ker Ching (a common name in Mandarin Chinese) as they believe this may come in handy in the future after UK has gone bankrupt.
HeyYoo Jimmy to placate and calm the natives north of the Border.
Bunnet to recognise the honest revenue donated by Glasgow's largest sports contributor
Mark being the name of William's Aunty Anne's first husband
And finally, Spencer, as this was William's mother's family name.

By coincidence Marks and Spencer is also the name of an establishment that sells the Duchess a supply of naughty knickers that probably caused this child to be conceived in the first place! So, I ask you all to raise your glasses to Mohamed Vihaan, Ker-Ching, HeyYoo Jimmy, Bunnet, Marks and Spencer. God Bless him!

Only in the UK, you can't be a member of the Royal Family or be Prime Minister if you're a Catholic.
And people want us to be proud of this Establishment.
