Earlier in the season I felt Paddy Roberts should NOT have been allowed to play against City so I feel the same now if Paddy is not staying Ryan WILL be in all probability his replacement

He is a credible goal threat and the lad is a no win situation IMO.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

24 Apr 2017 01:41:25
Ur right but he should play to test himself against the real best squad in the country he's earned it.

Agree1 Disagree9

24 Apr 2017 09:05:39
It will simply depend on what has been agreed. If he's allowed to play, then he deserves to, and Aberdeen have every right to play him, no doubts about that. If he ends up costing us the treble, It'll be a huge error on our part. I'd like to think after the Roberts scenario, that we have our bases covered.

what? and bend another free kick into the net? turn it up lads lol.

Agree18 Disagree8

24 Apr 2017 09:39:32
He has already not been allowed to play against us in the league games. do I think the question has already been answered? Shame for the ladies but that should always be the done thing. too much conflict playing against your own team. you get the treble by scoring and hard for him to come back. he injures one of our players similar situation so don't think he will play.

Any way always good scalping the huns ⚽ and they are spitting feathers at the bull fighting James bond's friendly encounter with our brendan. Love it also Jim white taking it tight last night 🍀🍀.

Regarding paddy roberts I have a question for the older posters that watched the lions back in the day:
How does the we man style of play compare to Jinkys style?

I never saw jinky, but I was brought up on tales of him terrorising defences, running with the ball at feet, taking knocks and getting straight back up.

I am no way trying to say paddy is anything like Jinky, but in terms of taking on a man is PR on a similar page?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

23 Apr 2017 21:47:56
Island Celt, Roberts today reminded me of wee Jinky in that he was hacked down time and time again but just got up and ran at them again, so brave, just like Johnstone, especially against those animals of Atletico Madrid.
Roberts has skill in abundance and I would love to see him sign a permanent deal with Celtic, but wee Jinky with his twists and turns is still way above Paddy.

Agree2 Disagree2

23 Apr 2017 23:33:04
Roberts is ok, but no comparison to Jimmy Johnstone, you young guys are getting carried away, Jinky was world class, Roberts is no where near that, he is a young guy with a bit of talent, he is a loan player, says it all.

Agree1 Disagree4

24 Apr 2017 00:50:06
Aye, Jinky was world class and that is not green tinted specs talking.
He would take on defences then, having beaten them all, go back round again.
He was good and Roberts is good but not only different eras, different environments and attitudes.
After the great Di Steffano had his friendly he wanted a photo taken alongside a real footballer. the real footballer was JINKY.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Apr 2017 00:41:06
Harsh aindoh, the boy has exeptional talent and he's here on loan to develop from man city, that says it all.

Agree3 Disagree1

24 Apr 2017 09:34:57
There's only one Jimmy Johnstone and I was lucky enough to see him in the hoops for a decade and since then we have had several 'right' wingers, like Johnny Doyle, Davie Provan, Joe Miller, James Forrest and Didier Agathe etc etc. with good qualities and faults - but nowhere near Jinky.
Roberts has the same low centre of gravity and similar ball control ( even though not as two footed as Jinky) and yesterday there was more fight and courage than he has shown in previous games and that did really impress me.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Apr 2017 10:22:36
The great di steffano said jinky was the best player in the world, enough said .

Agree2 Disagree3

24 Apr 2017 15:00:30
Island Celt: if you take Roberts and tie him to Jinkys left leg as Jinky had the ball tied to his right leg and no defrender could take the ball of him . that's how good jinky was, an absolute joy to watch, standing watching him from the Jungle he just ran about Paradise like a kid in a candy shop.
Rip jinky and thanks for wearing the hoops.
HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 15:23:26
I can remember watching him a few times from the jungle and what I can remember was they were very similar running the lines and cutting in hard to displace but I think Jinky done it more consistently But saying that I would love to see Paddy on a permanent contract but I think there is a lot of depends on that like if Man City will sell at a reasonable price and IF Paddy wants to be hear for longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 16:19:07
Cheers. Bhoys, great posts
And great tributes - RIP Jimmy Johnstone.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 17:27:13
think the only player playing at the moment you compare to jinky would be messi.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 23:03:01
Didn't mean it to sound harsh, but he had a good game against a young inexperienced fullback, and now he is being compared to Jimmy Johnstone, let's get a bit of perspective in to this, Jimmy Johnstone was exceptional, Patrick Roberts is a promising young winger, time might prove me wrong, but I don't see any comparison, in terms of talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2017 20:16:46
I thought Roberts was incredible today and throughout the season, I would see our priority in signing him permanently, if not, another season loan.
Although £12Mill is outside our budget, I can't see him been happy at City in the seconds.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

23 Apr 2017 20:37:19
LeedsCelt: The fee for Roberts is about £5-6m it's the possible add ons that could take it to the £12m mark . However as you say will PR be happy to sit in the reserves or worse the under 21s . We need to test the waters they can only say no .

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Roberts has no future at City and I don't see City playing silly buggers over a couple of million quid, they're not exactly counting the pennies and they know the market we work in. I think it'll come down to Paddy himself, I don't see any top EPL teams coming in for him and he is enjoying his time up here so hopefully he fancies hanging about for a few more years winning trophies and playing in the CL.
Considering we've paid a loan fee for him I'd slap in a cheeky £4million bid and we won't be far away from City getting their initial outlay back on the player.}

23 Apr 2017 20:55:18
Couldn't agree more ED, Celtic must do all they possibly can to get this boy on a permanent deal. He won't get anywhere near the first team at city, purely down to the money they have and the season they've just had. I'd imagine they'll spend mega in the summer. Like u i think the big factor in it will be if Roberts is willing to hang around in Scotland for another 2/ 3 years, which given his age, given guaranteed first team football, European football and winning trophies, i think it would be a good fit for him. Here's hoping.

Agree7 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - There was talk a while back about another loan so we know at least the clubs are talking about him but I'd rather get a permanent deal done to let us make money in the future. We could always offer City a buy-back clause or even a percentage of the future fee because he would certainly go for a big fee if he keeps progressing, especially with CL exposure.
Rodgers signing a new long term contract will also help him decide, he knows how the manager works and exactly what's required from him in a Rodgers team so there would be minimal disruption to his progression as a footballer and he's already settled here in his personal life so no disruption there either.}

24 Apr 2017 16:13:12
I am sure I have posted this a few weeks ago but heard that Roberts had taken out another years lease on the flat he rents so hopefully that's a sign he is happy to stay?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Was that you? I was going to mention that but wasn't sure if I had dreamt it or not! I hope everything's OK with the family btw buddy.}

23 Apr 2017 19:19:11
With regards to Scott Brown's appeal. After Halliday's tackle today he shouldn't be worried at all of winning it but if he doesn't are there timing issues that would allow him to play on Saturday? If not I'd like to see McGregor and Armstrong play central with Rogic further ahead but BR would probably go with Bitton.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

24 Apr 2017 09:08:20
Surely all SB has to do in his appeal is whip his phone out and show them the Halliday challenge. It's about as identical as you can get. I have no real complaints about Brown being shown a red, as it could have went either way. What I have a problem with is the inconsistencies, in the space of a week!

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Apr 2017 18:42:49
Everybody bigging the game up, it was as it should of been easy, there was not one point in the game when I was worried it was simply men against boys.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

23 Apr 2017 18:29:41
Men against bhoys too easy but if broonys challenge last weeks red what about today.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

23 Apr 2017 19:09:15
It was a ridiculous tackle from halliday on wee Roberts and if your looking for consistency then if browns is a red last week then that tackle is a straight red every day of the week.

Agree3 Disagree2

23 Apr 2017 18:24:23
Well that was even more one sided than I expected. I was supremely confident all week leading up this game but that was a stroll.

I don't want to rub in to, or lord it over our inferior opponents. actually I do, they are rank rotten. This is the worst team they have had in their 5 year history. We are so far ahead of them in every department they are an insignificance.

Well done to the team and management. One step closer to greatness.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - So Aberdeen will likely finish 2nd in the league, they reached the League Cup Final and are also in the Scottish Cup Final yet TRIFC and their hangers on say they are the second best team in the country?
They've appointed a complete buffoon in Caixinha - who unbelievably is even worse than Warburton - and as I said when he was appointed he will be lucky to celebrate Christmas as TRIFC manager.}

23 Apr 2017 18:45:42
Watching the buffoon smiling a laughing with Rogers at the full time whistle just showed his detached they are lol.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The hordes are not happy about that lol.}

23 Apr 2017 19:13:26
Pedro [is a Tim] was nice to Brendan when losing, the most gracious I have ever seen a Sevco manager ever.

And afterwards said "Scott bossed it" with no bitterness like other zombies who would try and get a dig like that saying he should not have played etc

So this early you got to love wee Pedro :-P

Now where is Union Jack to brighten our night even more

BTW while am on have you have heard from Old Bhoy? I know he wasn't that well and drove us daft at times but fully expected him to "pipe up" last week after the ref's performance given the high regard he has for them 😄? Hope he is all right.

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Apr 2017 19:57:03
Jamiebhoy, i was thinking the same yesterday. i think he said he was going to be picking and choosing when he was posting now if I'm correct. Let's hope he's enjoying today's stroll.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - In a David Brent/Frank Spencer kind of way.....

23 Apr 2017 21:19:07
Agreed Ed. Pedro is an absolute rookie who is completely winging it. He has this gormless smirk during games that smacks off the fact he is in over his head.

For weeks now the SMSM have been hearlding this guy as a tactical genius. Today he was found out and confirmed what we all suspected. His team selection and formation was amateurish. His substitutions were acts of desperation, but then again who did it have on the bench that would change the game? We could have started with 10 men and brought Craig Gordon on after 70 minutes.

Some have compared him to Ronny Deila. I find that an insult to RD. At least he was a success at his former club. He also came within a inch of achieving what BR is on the cusp of doing now, a treble.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Caixinha will never achieve anything in his career comparable to Ronny Deila. This is a guy whose team was sitting 5th in the Qatari league, the previous season they finished 9th in a 14 team league.
Caixinha is more comparable to your McCoists and McCalls as managers - absolute shite.}

23 Apr 2017 22:49:49
His post-match interview reminded me of Guy Goma who turned up for an interview at the BBC and got mistaken for a music industry expert.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I seen a video of him doing a Tommy Cooper impression with glasses.}

23 Apr 2017 22:50:21
Tell like it is ED, you, don't mince your words.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Ronny Deila won 2 league titles and was cheated out of a treble, I don't see Caixinha winning TRIFC's first major trophy.}

SEVCO KNOW YOUR PLACE

Ha ha what a profitable day I had, won my Sinclair to score, a penalty and Sevco most bookings bets, was unlucky with my Rogic to score bet but to cap it all won £400 from bigot in a suit in an extra bet we made yesterday. Then had a cheeky £20 at 10/ 1 on Arsenal in extra time, so you see before you one happy TIM.

As to the game itself it was so one sided, the only danger Celtic had all day came from OURSELVES. First the negatives, why did it take fully 5 minutes to get Griffiths on, a decent team other than Sevco would have punished us. I like Lustig but sadly he must be replaced at right back and don't get me started on Boyata, all their attacks in the second half were caused by his carelessness and laziness.
Now to the positives, Brown played a captain's role, Roberts was immense, and brave, he kept getting hacked down but just kept running at them. Even McGregor impressed me today and I am not his biggest fan. Gordon made some good saves at the right times. We were so far ahead of them it must have been embarrassing for the Sevco fans to watch.
If I was Rodgers I would play entire U19 team next week just to show how little we rate them. hail hail.

Well done Celtic a very easy game.
That's some manager sevco have got, to watch Scott Brown dominate and stroll thro the 90 without doing anything about it lol.
Regarding Halliday challenge I thought it was a yellow, very similar to Browns last week where they both went in to take the other guy out no damage done its a yellow.
MOTM for me was Craig Gordon, to spend 80 odd mins bored to tears takes a lot of ability and he coped admirably.
It seems to me the sevco manager is as daft as his fans, they win a couple against mediocre teams and they come into this game full of confidence thinkin they can win against top quality opposition.
Well reality has hit big time and I think we wernt even out of 2nd gear.

cant agree rayman hallidays was def red . the young right back should have had 2 yellows . browns challenge last week was for me like taverniers on griff for penalty yellow ( bit late in timing ) but never red.

Still paranoid enough to believe the colour of the cards is determined by the colour of the strips - and nothing today or last week has prompted me to change that view.

browns was a red. hallidays was a red. both shockers. not place in the game for tackles like that anymore

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 00:45:06
Hallidays was a definite red no surprises from that guy. Beerman should've had a 2nd yellow too and isn't Tavernier last man? Remember Boyatas red card I think was against Hamilton. And the guy was offside for that too and Boyata got the ball, still the appeal was thrown out. Sick of hearing that we get all the decisions and when we don't it is a conspiracy from other clubs fans. These decisions couldn't be any more blatant.

23 Apr 2017 15:24:49
I agree. I like McGregor because he keeps the ball moving at a pace that suits our style. He's not a standout player but i can see what he brings to the squad. I think he'll stay this summer!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I hope he stays and with 2 years left on his current deal I'd be looking to get him tied down for longer. Replacing McGregor, even for someone at the same level, would cost us millions and a lot more in wages than he's on too.}

23 Apr 2017 14:14:47
Great result against a team full of hatchet men and clubbers. Collumn is a joke as an official. We could have destroyed them today if we hadn't eased off and again, gave them that hope at the end. Quite happy though that we didn't stoop to their level and try breaking legs. Next week will be a totally different game. No pressure for us and all of it heaped onto them in front of 40,000 knuckledraggers baying for blood. If we play like today we should stroll it at the Asbestos Dome. MTH!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I didn't think the ref done too badly and surely he's helped Brown's appeal by giving us two examples of worse tackles that only received a yellow?
Today I felt after McGregor's goal that if TRIFC had scored we had another couple of gears to move up, we comfortably controlled the majority of the game with ease and should now go into next week's game full of confidence, if that's all they have to offer we should be in no danger at Ibrox.}

23 Apr 2017 14:55:07
I thought Collum had a good game. I missed the first few minutes but from the replays Halliday should've been off no question but from then on he called the penalty perfectly and rightly discarded Miller's handball shouts. Thought he did well so credit where it's due.

I agree Ed can only help the appeal and I really do think that the Ref had a decent game nothing to do with the result he was OK.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've always thought Collum more incompetent than bias. He let the game flow quite well today and didn't look to make himself the centre of attention like many refs do these days.}

23 Apr 2017 15:33:38
Expected worse to be honest but he did bottle a red card decision or two and failed to protect Roberts and Tierney from various assaults.

Armstromg running will be to strong for them , with broony wining every tackle and Rogic finding space in the hole Sinclair running riot dembele sniffing out half chances from middle to front really strong.

From back to middle could be a problem today chopping and changing the 2 x centre backs is not ideal before a cup semi has to be Jozo and Boyata. But the real battle today will be on the touch line Brendan get the tactics right today and you will be the third manager in our long unbroken history to win a treble its a must this season the league was won without defeat don't blow that great work now.

Regulars on here will know despite being a voracious (big word for a sunday morning lol) gambler I seldom bet on Celtic because I am superstitious. But being a gambler you always look for a "sign" or a "hunch" so here is my prognosis (ha ha have I got you all looking up these words)
Last year's semi was one to forget for Rogic and Roberts, Tom and THAT bobble, and Patrick and THAT miss. Fate always seems to play it's part in these games so both these players to score in 90 minutes is 2/ 1 for one of them to score first is a tasty 9/ 1.
Now these next tips are not "hunches" but almost nailed on a sending off is only 6/ 4 and a penalty only 9/ 4, (do you think bookies are anticipating these events by such skinny odds)
Brown being shown a card is only 10/ 11 but if Hill plays and Kiernan they are nailed on bookings also at Evens.
Back to Celtic again, and despite Dembele having a wee dry spell I fance him to score today at 10/ 11 and Sinclair is 6/ 4 anytime scorer, fill your boots.
One last thing, the ex bears think they have a chance today, and when they get thrashed, there WILL be trouble, STAY SAFE TIMS.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

23 Apr 2017 11:13:50
See Garner's playing today so seat belts on and look out for some form of aggro. That mob are runners and will be into our box like nuclear whippets and falling at the first opportunity so Broony HAS to protect our back 4. They've got kids at the back and they have to stop us getting the treble so I guess there'll be plenty opportunities for Sinclair and Dembele to fill up. Our bench looks strong but their'e doesn't so looks like a nailed on Bhoys win. but hope we;re savvy enough in midfield and the back to nullify any counter attack. Celtic to win 3-1.

Stengo.

Had a great day at Ayr yesterday, no winners naturally, but Mrs T picked Vicente "as it sounded like St Vincent de Paul, " eh? woman!
That went down well with the suit who true to him turned up in a royal blue mini van, I told him to wait while I got my rosary beads to take in the van, he asked "are those to pray for a goal tomorrow, no I said to COUNT them" ah the old jokes are still the best.
Mrs T did us proud by laying on a picnic hamper for 8 of us with the help of the girls, she is like me, hates paying over inflated prices at service stations or as in this case the on course food stalls. Even the suit tucked in heartily.
He was oozing confidence about today so we have UPPED our bets, much to Mrs T disapproval. I told her not to worry as the money was in no danger.

I see from previous posts that we might be going 4-3-3 today, with McGregor being preferred to Rogic ( and even Bitton) .
There is no doubt we are much better than them man-for-man but giving them numerical advantage in the middle of the Hamden pitch could cause problems - especially when Broony has been off the boil and McGregor is just not good enough.
Personally I would have preferred a 4-5-1 with:- Gordon Lustig Simo Boyata and KT then Forrest Brown Rogic Armstrong Sinky and Moussa up top with paddy and LG on hand if required?
Another slight worry I have is Gordon, who has lost a few goals lately, all-be-it with some defensive switches and lapses.
It's vital that all the players are up for this from KO and play to their strengths.
