Not really football related but it is Friday night..my wee story :-d

As you know some of us have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from late night 'social sessions'. Last weekend I was out with a few friends and lets just say I had a few too many. Knowing that I was 'slightly' over the limit I did something i've never done before I took a bus home. Sure enough I passed a Police road block but as it was, they waved it past. So I arrived home safely without incident which was a real surprise because I have never driven a bus before and I'm not really sure where I got it...

Mrs E {Ed007's Note - Was it a Park's bus? Keep the good fight going :-)

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Mrs E, cannot believe that only 2 people agreed with your wee story, but it is good to know you can drive a bus as you can be this site's "designated" driver, please give us your contact details to drive wee Pat, myself, Jungle Bhoy, Lenny, Evinguu, Green Jhedi, BigIrishmac, Miko. ED007 and any other regulars wanting to avail of your driving services to and from the pub. LOL Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent,third name up.In your face GJ.lol.Ed,you seem to be an after thought.
I propose if we get an English team in the Champ Lge all the regulars should go on a day trip to the away game.

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - It takes me all my time to get in a car a woman is driving... If there is one in charge of a bus who is footing the Buckfast bill to get me on it? I will fly down and meet you there if you arrive safely and in time for the match.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Eh...what are you trying to say about female drivers ? I would be good in-charge of a bus ! Or a boat. Mrs E {Ed007's Note - Do you think you could handle captaining The Love Boat, Mrs? You really wouldn't like to have to wade through the see of nonsense that I do!}

What would you say to a swoop for seedorf ed? {Ed007's Note - I wish mate, he would stroll it in Scotland and in Europe still, but I can't see it happening.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I still dont understand why he was in the dutch team! he has been and is still better than van bommel. I thought too when he was not at a club he should come here, very much doubt it though! just think how much the likes of wnyama would come on with him around!

We can but dream eh!

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - Van Bommel is Van Marwijk's son in law. It is one of the many underlying problems in the Dutch squad.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Seedorf has caused a lot of infighting in previous Dutch squads and that is why he no longer gets selected.

The guy comes accross well on tv but causes problems in the dresing room.

Ed / Celts
Did you watch Question Time last night ?
Obviously, with Jimmy Carr in the news, the issue of tax avoidance was discussed quite a bit on the programme.
Rangers have gone out of business, and might not get back to what they were ever or for a very long time, and you've got multi-national corporations, super-rich individuals, all paying next to no tax.
Billions lost to the country.
Philip Green, the owner of Top Shop, avoids less tax in a year than Rangers owe.
It's a joke to be honest with you.
Why has HMRC got football clubs so much in it's sights ?

There is a social dimension to our football clubs and I think Scottish football as a whole can only come out of this matter weaker.

I understand all your delight at Rangers plight but it is sad.
As one of the posts from the Rangers lad said, I don't think it will do the Scottish game any good at all. Most of the other clubs are broke, the commercial attraction of the SPL will now be reduced.
But, anyway, that's by the by.
My point was, really, that Rangers' debts are dwarfed by the amounts that corporations & individuals avoid paying to the HMRC.
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - I don't watch QT KB, anything that gives that bastard MacKenzie air time I refuse to watch mate. Tax avoidance is legal, tax evasion is not. Rangers current tax problems and financial situation is because of non-payment of income tax and NI contributions since Craig Whyte took over, the EBT FTT findings are not yet known. Even if that goes in Rangers favour it would have had no bearing on what CW done or the ensuing shambles and death of the club. Look at Eire when it was a great place to live financially, U2 amongst others were ploughing money into Irish banks etc because of the tax breaks they were given, as soon as that closed Bono was joe le toff to Switzerland. Big companies are given tax breaks, lower business rates etc to encourage them to open shops or factories over here, Scotland was bad for it for a while, big electronics companies opened factories and employed 000's, then when the tax breaks and favours from the government and councils time lapsed they left and shut or scaled down the factories. TBH the Jimmy Carr thing I know nothing about, it is bad enough watching him without having to read about him! I said all along that I didn't want Rangers to die, just a few years gloating would have done me but the scale of it is shocking and with more to come out there was no other choice. I will miss the derby matches, all football fans will, but no matter what happens now, Zombie Rangers will still not be the club I grew up 'hating'. The Scottish game will take time to recover, but there really is no option, if Rangers had got away with it the game would have been dead anyway.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Mackenzie wasn't on QT.
Anyway Ed, I don't wanna get wrapped up in the why's and wherefore's.
But I've read how people like Mohammed ed Fayed pay next to nothing in personal pax, often by agreement with HMRC who cannot afford to get in legal arguments with people like that.
What would be interesting Ed, is a cost benefit analysis of HMRC's action against Rangers. How much has it cost the taxpayer, and how much have we, the taxpayers, had or are likely to get back ?
Then calculate the hidden social costs ?
I would hazard a guess, mate, that it adds up to a negative to the country.
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - MacKenzie is a regular though KB, that's bad enough, it shows the underlying content of the show.The thing with using tax loopholes is that you are taking a risk, if you get caught then you need to face the consequences of it. And every now and then they make an example of someone.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Hmrc has all tax dodgers in its sights. Its just there are so many that they just take on the ones they catch. À bit like speeding, most dont get caught. Rangers were hard to miss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy Burnham was on QT last night actually, and Len McCluskey, so it was well worth a watch.
You'll have had American Wrestling or summat on instead though eh ? Lol.
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - So you knew it was on lol......I record it on a Tuesday morning though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This is an enormous social problem.It appears to me that we seem to be following the American style corporate government.Much as i hate the tories,labour have a cheek to criticize,they started it all off with the bankers being allowed more or less do what they wanted.Have a look at a vid called "Starsuckers",a real eye opener to the dumbing down of this stupid society that has been manufactured to serve.People have become sheep,follow and never question,watch Cowells new piece of rubbish,eat your additive riddled food and let us take care of everything.If people would wake up and understand the shafting they are getting things might change.Last point:If a company turns in profits of 20m,pays its CEO 1m plus per year,should it be allowed to pay workers minimum wage? And thats not an extreme figure,if anything its conservative..........green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

The tax thing with Rangers is huge enough, but the irony of it all, is a massive majority of them are all for the Monarch and all things British. For goodness sake Glasgow rangers supporters sing GS 'England's' Queen at Ibrox, so this is more than the loss of their club, its a major embarrassment of epic proportions.

Some of them are clinging onto Jimmy Carr, Gary Barlow, offshore accounts etc but they didn't have alleged double contracts. The whole point it, they could not afford the players they had and looked at ahhem other ways... Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye, I know that Mrs E.
I'm not saying that what was done was not wrong.
But HMRC are supposed to act in the 'public interest'. How much money will they reclaim off the Zombies now ?
And how much goes up the swanny through avoidance ?
It is so bad that the govt is now having to try to bring a new law in that may make illegal tax avoidance that goes against the 'spirit' of the tax laws. That's how wooly and complicated it is. What I'm saying is, HMRC seem to choose their targets selectively.
The Real KB

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course Rangers are not the only club to have used EBTs and no doubt HMRC have much bigger fish to fry but what Rangers fans failed to see was they were a precendent, a test case.

I think with the state of the economy maybe even the banking crisis, HMRC are looking for money and where else but football ! Particulary when the most watched league in the world happens to be on their doorstep that Sly are ploughing money into. They have sent out a clear message here with Rangers, they are after the bigger clubs and no deals will be on. They will ruin any club that doesn't pay ! Just my opinion, I could be talking tripe lol Mrs E {Ed007's Note - Does that make SLY or Rupert Murdoch a Merry Ploughboy???}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Ed..maybe the TV money ploughed into the EPL could be the undoing of them. Easy target now for HMRC eh ? Ach I don't know, its late lol. Why now though with the EBTs ? Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

No deals, my aunt fanny !
Read up about the deals that HMRC do - mostly on the super rich.
It's a joke.
The Real KB

Agree0 Disagree0

So why didn't they do it with Rangers then KB ? Thats what I mean by using them as a test case to send out a message to other Clubs...Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Although i may have enjoyed the irony of recent events in Govan, you wont find me revelling in the joy of paying taxes to The Crown Corporation.
WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT the whole thing is UTTER SHAM and part of a dark, sinister, all-encompassing network with it's evil tentacles round each and every one of us. You, me, and everyone you know.
At the very best the HMRC are crooks, the big businesses they assist (and VICE-versa) are crooks, and the banks are crooks, to name but a few.
There is no doubt about this, nor is it up for debate. It is the reality of the situation.

As an anecdotal note; at least the Highwayman of old would leave you alone after robbing you, and not follow you down the road pestering you for EVERYTHING you own.

Sincerely, TRP.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe Mrs E.
But it's put Rangers out of business, and what has the taxpayer had back from it ?
The Real KB

Agree0 Disagree0

KB, the finding of the Big Tax Case is not known yet so I don't know what will happen with that. BDO have been brought in now & seem to have the powers to go after the individuals involved.

Lets not forget as Ed says, they were put into administration on 14th Feb for non-payments of N.I. & PAYE. The powers that be at Ibrox gave pay rises to players and kept players last summer they could not afford and seemed to have paid their wages this way from this.

If HMRC recover any money still remains to be seen but their message was clear. Why do you think they did not enter into an agreement ? Mrs E

Newco don't need an 8-4 voting majority to gain SPL entry.
It is an 11-1 majority that is needed - and Newco can't vote as they are not SPL members.
So theoretically, it is done and dusted following Hearts and Dundee Utd having made their intentions public.
Green cannot use the 'The Rangers' name as it falls under the prohibited names section under company law.
SEVCO - are a brand new club with a stadium and training ground but nowhere to play.
I wonder now if they will gain ANY league entry next season........whats your view Ed?

It is well and truly a good time to be a fan of a club with a proud history and fantastic fanbase!

Anyway on to my point. How do you guys think celtic will line up next year, will wee see the 3-5-2 lennon played at the tail end of the season.

Forster?

Wanyama - ? - Mulgrew

Matthews - Kayal - Ledley/Brown - Izzy

Commons/Forrest

Hooper - ?

NEIL LENNON wants to beef up Celtic's squad by capturing two former Celtic stars!
Lennon is still targeting a midfeild master and a central defender as he bids to take Celtic into the group stages of the champions league.
Its believed in The wigan local press that  Lennon will look to have talks with stopper Gary Caldwell who is desperate to return to celtic for the start of the new season. And Neil Lennon has retained an interest in Laundry Nguemo. During his season at Celtic N'Guemo' made 45 appearances with his final match being the 2-1 win over Rangers. With the departure  Juarez with news of a Everton move for Joe Ledey (NL) needs to move fast. N'Guemo's agent spoke on a French website "Celtic have requested a meeting with us to discuss N'Guemo's future,""There has been interest from some English clubs but we have to listen to what Celtic have to say.

Not so much a rumor, than a rallying cry.
It is now looking a certainly club 12(sevco 5088) will be denied access to the SPL by the clubs.
I think this next season will see an upsurge in supporters of ALL clubs coming out to support their club in a more competitive league.
Thus rendering the threats of lack of money from said shunned club being null and
void, with the revitalized teams in the leagues’ supporters making up the difference.
This maybe the kick up the back side that our national sport needs to get back on track, since the Souness "revolution" if we all think back to before that time our league was competitive and had a few teams vying for league and cup honors, let’s not be suckered in to the negative thinking that club 12 being gone will ruin our league, i personally think it will enhance it tenfold, I will be renewing my season ticket forthwith and would urge ALL fans to do the same. Let the knuckle draggers fight amongst themselves they are now an irrelevance to our national sport for the foreseeable future.

Judge orders Duff & Phelps report

David Whitehouse and Paul Clark were appointed as joint administrators
Rangers administrators Duff and Phelps have been ordered to prove there is no conflict of interest over their role.

The move, ordered by Lord Hodge at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, comes after a recent BBC documentary raised concerns about the issue.

Lord Hodge said he took no view about the BBC programme.

But he said Duff and Phelps should produce a report showing they had obtained and acted on legal advice on the question of conflict of interest.

Rangers was forced into administration by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on 14 February over non-payment of tax totalling about £14m.

Rangers liquidated

Craig Whyte, who bought the club from Sir David Murray last year, was successful in having his nominated firm, Duff and Phelps, appointed.

Following a hearing at the Court of Session, presided over by Lord Hodge, David Whitehouse and Paul Clark were appointed as joint administrators of the club.

They have since negotiated a sale of the club's assets to a consortium led by Charles Green for £5.5m after creditors rejected an agreement which would have seen Rangers repay pennies in the pound for estimated debts of about £134m.

The 140-year-old club is now set to be wound up by HMRC's preferred liquidators BDO.

Mr Grier denied knowing about the Ticketus deal prior to August 2011
Mr Green has since formed a new club and is attempting to get access to the Scottish Premier League.

Last month, BBC Scotland broadcast the documentary - Rangers: The Men Who Sold The Jerseys.

The programme raised questions over a possible conflict of interest for Rangers' administrators.

David Grier, a senior partner from Duff and Phelps, had said he was unaware until August 2011 that London finance firm Ticketus had helped fund Mr Whyte's purchase of the club.

The BBC programme broadcast emails which appeared to show that he knew a deal was under way in April, before Mr Whyte's takeover was complete.

Mr Grier has denied knowing that Ticketus were funding the purchase, and his PR team has claimed he was only aware of a much smaller arrangement of around £5m with the finance firm to fund a working capital shortfall.

He said "the false allegations made by the BBC" were now in the hands of Duff and Phelps solicitors.

The issue over any possible conflict of interest was raised by Lord Hodge at a hearing about the administration process on Friday.

'Public interest'

The judge said he took no view about what the BBC had said, but wanted to know whether Duff and Phelps had obtained and acted on legal advice on the question of conflict of interest.

Lord Hodge said he had done nothing until now because he did not want to hinder the process of Rangers going into liquidation.

But, he told the accountants' lawyers: "There is considerable public interest in this jurisdiction in relation to the administration."

Lord Hodge added: "I do not want the administration to come to an end without having received that report."

The report demanded by Lord Hodge is expected to be ready in three weeks and a further court hearing is likely to be arranged after that.

Agree1 Disagree0

The most interesting thing about this is how they can explain some of their decisions. A: When admin started why was Bartley not returned to Arsenal? B: Why were the big earners not sold(transfer window rules can be avoided in admin)to raise funds and reduce the wage bill? C: Why did they try to SIGN a player,on around 15k p/w,during the transfer window? I get the feeling D&P are on a really sticky wicket here...........green jhedi

Agree3 Disagree0

Couldnt agree more mate! When a company goes into administration the first thing they do it slash costs, not put another 15k on the wage bill! The craziest administration ever! In my eyes duff & phelps are working hand in hand with Craig whyte! Why was David Grier constantly pictured with Craig whyte during the initial takeover? Then they are appointed administrators against hmrc's will? Something stinks! This was there plan all along!

There were a good few of us on here over the past months who were at the very least puzzled and definately suspicious of these 'puppets' installed to deal with the Administration process.

I really hope they get their deserved come-uppance too GJ.

Good afternoon folks

So Hearts and Dundee United have recently publically stated that they will vote against "the rangers" inclusion in the SPL, it would also appear that Aberdeen, Motherwell and St Mirren have been making similar noise so if this is the case why bother waiting until the 4th July to sort this mess out. The Rangers require 8 votes to gain entry to the SPL and it is plainly obvious that there is little to no chance of them acheiving it so the time wasting needs to stop. Start them in Division 3, they can hopefully rebuild the club and repay their debts to scottish football from the bottom to the top. It is time to end this debacle, its time to focus on the football again.

Right bhoys, reading on rtc the rules for transfering a share to another body require a 21 day notice ,this has not been done as to the 4th of july meeting . articles 14 and 6.To me this leaves the door open for newco tto take sfa to the court of session, .my fear is this could cost us a european ban,as fifa and eufa are watching . is this ogilvies plan bring us all down with them ..Geo
ps hope the chair men have their rule books with them

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Minor technicality, if Oldco is expelled and Newco are not admitted. Any court action will not be taken by a SFA member. Therefore UEFA will be ok (not happy though).

Agree0 Disagree0

Have case's not been won on technicalities.?ie punishments not being in the rule book,tho that didnt help them.the rules need to be clear and adhered to.we all know time is running out , but to take shortcuts could be fatal for sfa.

With Dundee United and Hearts showing their hand and I presume Celtic Will vote 'NO' all we need is another 2 teams to join the 'NO' vote.
St Jonhstone chairman has already stated he would vote 'NO' unless there was heavy sanctions.
Do Kilmarnock not realise that with no (the) Rangers for minimum 3 years they might get an extra couple of thousand bums on seats as half of kilmarnock seems to end up at ibrox on a saturday. The same with the likes of St Mirren who are seeing an increase already in season ticket sales.
Motherwell are putting it to a vote of their fans. Not confident on that 1.
Aberdeen dont particularly like Rangers and with them out of the way they would have a better chance of making the top 6 and getting an extra game out of celtic.
Sad to say coming from the Highlands I think Inverness would vote to keep them in due to Big Tels influence.
Hibs chairman has already been quoted as saying “Integrity is beyond purchase
That leaves New boys Ross County who might think that with Dundee coming up and Rangers out thay might have a better chance of staying in.
My Prediction 9-3 in favour of booting rangers into 3rd Division

Herald reporting that Sevco have been unable to arrange corporate banking facilities.

As such season ticket monies already collected by direct debit have gone to the oldco bank account where Sevco cannot reach them at this time and it is within the reach of creditors.

The Herald stated "The process of [Green]securing the season ticket funds requires legal agreements from Duff & Phelps, who currently run the oldco's business, BDO, who will move in as liquidators, and a guarantee from Green's newco. The process could take as long as six weeks to ensure proper protections are in place, meaning that the current funds are part of the oldco's assets and, so, within reach of the creditors, despite Green's assurances to the contrary to the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund in a private and confidential meeting last Wednesday night, and then again in a statement yesterday."

You know it is starting to look like no club 12 at all next season.The season start is weeks away and i doubt Green has the funds or relevant paperwork in place.Factor in players needing new contracts,no doubt with signing on fees added over term,and it looks like a big outlay.Running expenses and the mysterious asbestos removal problem and the future is bleak.......green jhedi

GJ since date of vote was announced ,always thought the same due to further punishments to come from SFA /SPL . If they manage to get paperwork and new players (big earners will all leave),then if div 3 not many punishments left for them to get ,they can't get relegated so looks like a suspension more likely.
Also don't like what spl said regards waiting to see where club 12 are playing, WHY?

As a Rangers fan I would first of all like to start by saying sorry for the mess the directors of my club have caused Scottish football. I am also ashamed that anyone has suffered financial hardship as a result of our liquidation. I agree we should not be allowed into the SPL and would suggest that Rangers or what ever we are to be called take a year out of football to sort the internal mess out before they start to ever play in ANY league. That said I have a few points to make. Firstly the people and organisations that run Scottish football have been proven to totally incompetent for years, its time for a radical change. I have to laugh at the Hearts owner having a go at Rangers for the way they have operated, this from a man who failed to pay his own players and staff and who's background is less than squeaky. The problem the SPL has is the other clubs couldn't fill there dismal stadia if it was free entry will a complimentary pie and bovril. Seriously if you were SKY would you invest in showing Inverness vs Aberdeen. I watched a lot of Celtic games because they were generally on on the day after id been to Ibrox and id watch praying you got stuffed, but the point is i did watch. I bought a season ticket for the a last ten years to get the old firm match, because lets be honest any other game you could phone up the day before and be guaranteed to get a seat. This season you watch, as soon as you go ten points clear, which will happen before october, you watch how many of your season ticket holders stop attending matches. Id be exactly the same as most of you are if the shoe was on the other foot BUT i just can't see any other club filling the void left by my club. I think scottish football is in for one boron boring season. Good luck in Europe and i mean that, i think its the only way you will be able to keep the desire and attention of your players.

Good points from a real fan.........green jhedi

Some good points yes but season ticket holders not turning up when the team are winning every week? Surely when you purchase your season ticket you do so in the hope to see your team winning every week?

Im sure Romanov would have paid his players on time as well if had not been burdened by paying his Clubs Tax, NI and PAYE.

I forgot to sign off my initial post with AW. I have had some excellent chats on here with some good Celtic men. As for the post saying season ticket holders always turn up to see there side winning, can I ask you are you a season ticket holder? as I'm sure you would have witnessed the drop in attendance figures lately.Going to the football is expensive even if you have a book, with the travel, food and a pint or two. No fan wants to watch their club win easily every week, the excitement comes from the competition. I just feel that the spl may become boring for the fans and the players when my club are gone. The other issue Celtic may have is can you really see your owners spending money on players and wages when its a certainty you will win the league? Its a mess guys a very sorry mess and I am ashamed the club I love has caused it, no bloody wonder your angry. AW

Dnt post tht often ed but love the sight made it my home page lol. The sevco fans hate neil lennon but I dnt remeber any remarks made by him to be anywere as near as disgusting as novos n a looked in to a few sevco fans forums to see what there reaction was there's a lot of them who feel proud of him and are backing his comments. Is a sad day when the happiest moment theve had for over a year is someone spouting religous hatred.

They really love to hate.

Peter Cardiff {Ed001's Note - unfortunately it comes from both sides.}

Got to say I would NEVER condone any Celtic player present or past using that kinda language and would be utterly ashamed

Agree3 Disagree0

Incidents like this being given approval dispel the myth that only a small minority over at the swamp indulge in this sectarian bile. I would never say no problem exists at celtic, however, i believe that the sectarian problem which exists at ibrox is far greater and in some cases fans the flames of hatred developing towards rangers or the people comporting these attitudes.

This i feel is also a sign of things to come. As it slowly dawns on the rangers fans that newco wont be granted a get out of jail free card, i have noticed a major animosity developing and i dont believe this will be an isolated incident, if not a moderate one by comparison.

Agree2 Disagree0

As a Rangers fan if its proved Novo did make these comments he is an absolute disgrace. He was a talented passionate player who had the ability to wind up Celtic fans much the same as Lennon did to us. Good players with character are good for the sport but Novo has tarnished himself with this disgusting behaviour. I pray its some sick individual who has hacked his account as the last thing my club needs is more shame. AW

Does anyone else think that Newco fc being relegated to the 3rd division will actually financially help Scottish football by bringing money to lower league teams through gate receipts etc which may go some way to repaying these teams when they were on there quest for tainted trophies

Newco have never benn in the spl to be relegated

"Surely nobody would take a channel like that as gospel unless they were just gullible fools...... ;-)"
Haha Ed, the worrying thing is so many people do, I remember on deadline day of the last summer window they were quoting a fake Downing twitter account, and the Kaka twitter rumour, these 'sky sources' are just a load of crap. Why the need for the odds of everything during every story as well? How people can't see what's happening, their only two sources are 'Arry and DW. {Ed007's Note - It's a news channel Smithy supposedly. Why do ITV not give you odds on a bomb going off somewhere in the Middle East.................'Live from the Tory party conference and if you press the red button you can bet on ITVBet.com whether David Cameron will have a single colour or pattern tie on... After the break the latest from Glasgow, has assaults and stabbing figures went down over the weekend, stay tuned we have 'expert' stabber and loan-shark, Big Malky from the illegal bookies in Easterhouse with his predictions. Cue wee Jum Sh1te.....'Well Hayley, you don't want to miss that, my goodness'.}
