Completely unrelated to any current news or topics on our upcoming champions league qualifier against rosenborg, but was having a conversation to some off my mates today about the Scotland national team and one off the topics was about how many off our players are 1st team internationals basically as you all know our national team best players are all ours. so my point is we were discussing that it would be good if we start seeing more Scotland flags at Celtic Park when we play, yes the heritage off our club is Irish otherwise there wouldn’t be a Celtic to begin with I completely understand and respect that, but feel as if it’s a huge shame how there’s not at least a good handful off Scottish flags with our clubs badge on it, just a thought to see what other Scottish Celtic fans think that Celtic should start selling Scotland flags with the badge on there shop? Feel it would be a good step as like all my friends were all Scottish and have zero connection to Ireland and feel its time to start taking pride in our country club wise imo.

Apologies to Chris . Celtic badge on the St Andrews cross nah the colours would clash.

22 Jul 2018 23:06:40
Aha thanks ed and worries Stevie!, next time I’m at a Celtic game with friends I’d like to bring our own custom Scottish flags with the Celtic badge on it and like I said it’s no disrespect to our clubs history or foundation on what it was built on, I completely understand all our history that makes me even more proud to be a Celtic fan, it’s mearly me meaning that Scottish Celtic fans should start bringing there own flags off there country aswell to take start taking pride in our country of birth, yes a lot off fans are sick off the sfa but regardless off them I will always take pride being Scottish, like I said it was something I’d like to see along with Irish flags which represent our history. Like I said it was mearly somthing id like to see especially with the qualifiers coming up and KT potentially being Scotland! 🍀.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic are a scotish club with Irish Heritage are we not?
How many of our fans are Scottish?

Shouldn’t have to worrying about waving a flag at Paradise let alone the flag of our own country.

Anyone who harasses a Celtic fan because they have a saltire is a donut.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 09:18:39
No issue with Scotland flags, except it doesn't go with our colours or that.

some amount of clowns in our support nowadays who seem offended by Irish flags at Parkhead mind you.

Mostly based on online opinions though.

Scotland is like the place I come from the occupied 6 . Ran in the main by orange men and MAsians . Police, judiciary and football . Both these places still fun on who you know and either where you hang your hat on Sunday or what school you went to, or your weans .
If flying the Scottish fleg gets you turned on, I am sorry flying the flag of the black North doesn't excite me.

Of course i wouldn't kevbhoy? we are a much bigger club than your huddersfield's etc, it'd be justified.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

22 Jul 2018 19:05:17
Sounds like sour grapes to me tbh. “The bigger the club = The more money they deserve” is the kind of attitude of the people who are turning the CL into mission impossible for teams like us. Club size is also completely subjective. Somebody on this site referred to 4x European Cup winners Ajax as being potentially smaller than us the other day.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 19:07:02
Brendan can u not post below the post your play ing about mate just an observation.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 16:09:25
Edg, my point is that its sickening how much clubs 1/ 4 of our size get funded by the EPL And Sky, comprende?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2018 16:26:24
I bet you wouldn't find it sickening if we got some of the crazy Sky money.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 17:14:23
Tbh with you if we were paying 1000 odd quid for season tickets while watching our club spend like £50mil on average players, then I would feel a bit sick myself.

the prices fans get charged in the EPL are ridiculous and unjustified as the clubs barely even need the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 17:28:34
50 mill for the boy fae Watford the world's gone mad.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 22:32:41
Brendan95 it is a different league in a different country that we are not in. Why should the epl and English teams not take the money on offer from sky or anyone else? It’s all to do with viewing figures which our league cannot compete with. You say Huddersfield are 1/ 4 the size of us. Not financially they aren’t.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 22:35:53
One of ma brothers mates had the new strip on, a asked him how much it was then scoffed when he said £56. He then said aye but West brom charge £99. How can that be justified, where will it end.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:58:07
We all seem to be split on the club's lack of transfers in. some are concerned and some are calm and believe we are strong enough.
However no one can deny that we go into the next qualifiers a weaker squad than we finished the season with.
That's bad planning.
Am starting to think we are getting priced out of attracting the players we need to push on.
Am sure 1 or 2 will come in but let's hope it's not to late as far as the CL is concerned.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

22 Jul 2018 12:35:34
If we’re being priced out of the players we want then it’s not bad planning JJ.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 12:45:15
JJ none of us think the squad is strong enough but we are calm because the window is still open and is untill the 31st of August.

Agree1 Disagree2

22 Jul 2018 13:07:28
Weaker squad?
Just because the hair left?
Our forward line look better than ever - the three musketeers looked to have gelled and I’m predicting an unbelievable season from the front men. Best forward line since the king, Sutton and big bad John.

Agree6 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 13:47:46
There's 5 and a bit weeks left we will do our business no doubt or we could do what sevco did and sign 11 players prob none would even get on our bench. everyone needs to calm down Brendan and Peter know what they're doing we don't need major surgery.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 14:04:03
We have the exact same discussion on here every year. Wait till the end of the window and see what happens. Generally not a lot. Same again i think.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 14:18:56
The problem I've got is that not getting business done early makes the board look like they are stalling to see whether we are cl or Europa or neither . and then they will spend accordingly .

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 14:21:01
We do t have 5 weeks for the CL. That’s were the money is that will allow us to afford better players and that needed deal with before now, or we could be in the EL.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 14:23:54
Everyone knows mcginn is Armstrong's replacement. everyone knew Armstrong was leaving. the bad planning comes when we didn't strike a player cash deal for mcginn. i think hibs would have went for cash and Allen and maybe someone on lone.
I think the other targets the manager has we maybe getting priced out of.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 14:33:17
Let's see how calm everyone is if we don't make the CL.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 14:41:55
DRP of coarse there is more than one list. We've been told that before.
Simple fact is some of the higher quality players ain't coming to Scotland to play at Easter road or Tynecastle. They come for champions league and will wait to see if we are there 1st.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 15:04:21
There's a signing deadline before every qualifier maybe once the English window closes on the 9th of Aug we'll do some business.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 17:27:26
Jozo Boyata Lustig Tierney Ajer these are international players And tho I’m not a fan of Boyata or Jozo and would like to see a better class of player they are still streets ahead of anyone in the spl. Also what cost does getting these players in and who are these players. The market we have to shop in for the class we would like to see is way out of our reach. So next step is potential ie Hendry or an unknown who may be the next Virgil or could easily be the next du wei. This is where we have to trust our manager and scouting system but unfortunately they won’t always get it right. Let’s keep the faith bhoys 1st game back for me on Wednesday and I can’t wait 🍀.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 18:10:09
The club has stated that? if that's the case the fans should demand a sliding scale season book.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 18:18:25
J J, I have to say that I think in many positions we are stronger . At the end of the season it is natural for players to be tired and their performances to be affected by niggling injuries that affect performances. I have no doubt is stronger and more confident in himself. Ntcham seems to have really learned how to partner Brown in midfield. Forrest seems to improve every season . Our twin French strikers are really a class apart from what we had as strikers for years .
I would be really confident, because I think Rosenburg, with their managerial problems will be weaker than last season and by the time we play the next round everyone will be back and settled after World Cup.

There is. too much emphasis by some fans on defence and I think Brendan has moved to his favourite tactic by playing our two big strikers up front, he isn't too worried if we concede 1/ 2.as long as we score 3 or 4.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 19:44:04
Welshbhoy you're spot on. This is where we are in the present climate. You would think our defence is the worst in Scotland the way some go on. ( best defensive record in Britain last season by the way) . As you rightly said the market we are shopping in has huge risks attached. Could we attract better than Boyota Ajer or Simu? Maybe but at the money we could spend we might end up with worse. The biggest gripe with many on here was the hammerings we've taken from PSG and Barcelona in the CL in recent seasons, although it pains me to say we might have to get used to beatings similar to this at CL level and richer clubs than us will also be on the receiving end of skelpings from the super rich too.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 20:56:13
What did PSG pump Bayern by? Anything in Europe against the bigger teams is a bonus we just need to try to qualify first. then if we do compete with the other lower ranked team in our group? Until a total unexpected restructure of champs league happen we just get the scraps. Can’t wait for first game of season now roll on the hun skelping! 🙂⚽️🍀🏆.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 07:22:51
Jungle John let's see how happy we are when we do. Also let's see how happy we are when second get pumped out of Europe by thus croatian mob this week? Thoughts Jungle john ha ha?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:43:02
Is lustig available for Wednesday? Surely he could slot in at RCB, Hendry moves to LCB, and we can continue to play the 3-5-2 that’s been working well (assuming Moussa is fit) ? Rogic surely in the squad too. We should still win fairly comfortably.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2018 12:46:41
He doesn't start training till Monday so will all depend on how fit he's come back from the WC AND holiday.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 14:08:11
Seems like a naturally fit guy. Despite being suspended against England it still only been about 3 weeks since his last game. Match sharpeness shouldn't be much of an issue. Could really be doing with some experience back there. Bentdner might not be prolific but he holds the ball and uses his body well. Gave Ajer a fair few problems last season.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 16:49:02
Same old crap every window. not 1 player in we didn't have last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 10:28:47
Boyata will end up leaving. We will then be without our "best" centre half. We will not sign a replacement just like we won't for Roberts. We will be short in several positions. The quality will be no better. Bet we sign one more player. We need more if we have trimmed the squad. It isn't any stronger than it was.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

22 Jul 2018 11:34:13
See as long as we are better than Sevco then half our support are happy enough. (Same would go for Sevco fans)

It's true in many ways a huge chunk of both sets of fans are equally obsessed with the other club.

The SPL is a joke, Hibs conceded 4 to a team from Faroe Islands, Adam Rooney leaving the 2nd best side to go to Salford on 4k a week.

Yet people are content dominating this joke of a league and getting almost 10 put past you on Europe as if that's acceptable.

Agree3 Disagree4

22 Jul 2018 12:01:28
The argument about having a whole load of centre backs isn’t justifiable. We may have plenty but they’re not all of the quality we need. Ajer is the only player of class that we have in CB. Arguing Tierney can play there but that means moving him out of position and in turn weakening us going forward. We need to strengthen, players need to come in soon.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 12:48:54
How can you say boyata is our best CB then say ajer the only player of class there?
Also we have replaced Roberts with morgan.

Agree1 Disagree2

22 Jul 2018 13:22:33
Saying best is based on BR saying this and most likely tongue in cheek from the OP

But what’s funny is saying Morgan is a replacement for Roberts, Morgan imo is behind Mikey Johnston already and here is hoping he can step up as last year when St Mirren played SPL teams he went MIA.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 14:08:25
Kev83, there is the problem. We replaced Roberts valued st £10mill with Morgan who cost us £300k. In my opinion we are weaker than last season. The idea is surly to strengthen.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 13:50:56
Kev T what exactly did Roberts do last season?
When he was fit he played as back up to James Forrest, exactly what Morgan will be doing this season.
As for your opinion about Mikey being ahead I can't see how you came up with that idea seeing as none of them have played much for our first team and Morgan has been playing at a higher level than Johnstone for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 15:36:25
I make my opinions on what I’ve seen when I’ve watched them play

Morgan is a St Mirren level player in the championship, Roberts already proved his level was far higher the year before.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 17:18:49
Tbh i think the Roberts argument is ridiculous. He was never our player anyway.

I get the point though maybe we should go for better but getting him was maybe unrealistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 18:20:44
Ken, why are you so negative re our defence . You have no idea whether Boyata is for the road or stays.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 09:21:01
I am a little disquitened by all this talk of "Rosenburg in crisis" "Celtic's CL opponents in turmoil"
Even he usually sane guys on Newsnow Celtic are predicting an "easy visctory"
Sorry, but this sceptical Tim has witnessed too many euro failures to take anything for granted.
Yes, I believe, if we play to our full potential we will win over 2 legs, but I think Rosenburg will give us a much harder game than a lot of Celtic fans are predicting.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

22 Jul 2018 10:31:04
I'm with you on this one Timalloy as there are very few easy games in Europe these days.

For that reason I never take progress for granted and am always delighted to make it through to the next round.

Last year we beat them 1-0 on aggregate and it was a hard game and although I put us as favourites to make it to the next round, we will need to play well to do so.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:06:23
I am very sure BR will be instilling the same caution into the squad. There is far too much at stake for complacency and predictions and the fact remains they are 17 weeks into their season, while our campaign has yet to start; so it's important to prepare properly and make sure the players are 100% focused and committed.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:08:02
I agree Tim, this will be an ask. This is a bad game to play inexperienced CB's as Bendter despite lack of pace is a good striker, and good strikers know how to drift off markers, our two will need to switched on for 94 minutes.

Like any Scandinavian side, especially at this time in the season, they will be fit and organised and keep the ball. Where i might see us getting at them is an early goal, big crowd, noisy, they might get rattled. Broony is the key in these games as he let's Oli free, who i think mwin it for us, to add the fifth man when we are right up the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:23:18
Agreed they are champions a day no mugs.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 11:46:49
I think if we were to play them and we were both in the middle of our respective seasons then we would win comfortably but they are way match sharper than us so that's a leveller right there. It will be hard games but I think we will get through over the 2 legs like last year.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The Noregian league is on it's mid-season break and Rosenborg haven't played a league game since the 7th of July and aren't due to play another one until the 4th of August. They've only played Valur in that time and Wednesday's match against us will be their new manager's debut.
If we turn up and play the way we know we can we should put the tie to bed on Wednesday making the second leg a mere formality. Rosenborg are struggling in the league, in turmoil off the park and the players aren't happy but I'm sure some people will find something to put a downer on things.}

22 Jul 2018 12:24:58
We should be treating this next two games with respect they are champions of there league BR will demand that and play with that in mind no matter who we play the situation Rosenberg find themselves in could enspire them to play the games of their season a team like this could be more dangerous so I hope for two professional games from us no matter the starting 11 and subs we use HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 12:56:23
I am sure the gaffer isn't taking anything for granted. He will have the squad well drilled. Though i don't think it will be a cake walk I do think we will make it through by a couple goals.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 13:24:34
Agree Kev, BR will have them prepared as best he can and like you say hopefully take a couple of goals to Norway with a clean sheet.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Jul 2018 13:50:38
Totally ed too much doom and gloom with some on here and it's not justified because we haven't signed this one or that one it's nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2018 18:27:41
I know we should fear a wounded Nowegian, I wonder is there something different from what we are told about changing the manager and appointing the head of the academie as manager . Could you imagine any SPL team appointing the coach of a youngsters team to Manage a club . In Rosenburg's case the new man has already failed as senior coach, but that experience would be better than none.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 11:18:21
The board didn't talk to any players before they sacked the much liked manager. So now their in a "the board should go before the manager.
So you should take this pretty easy.
