carlos pena is a free agent. can we not sign him and bring him on as a sub in the last 10 minutes against newco so he can wipe his nose on morelos (red card permitting) shirt?

Dodgy Dave apologises for the klans abuse of Stevie Clarke never heard him apologise when Lenny got it every time he played or managed against sevco since the day he stepped on these shores . funny that.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 20:02:39
The media could always try and justify it with Neil Lennon with the line that he brings it on himself.
They can't say the same about Steve Clarke as he is a much quieter individual who just does his job.
How Steven Gerrard can stand there and listen to this abuse and want to work for a club like that is beyond me.

Agree5 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 02:19:25
Lol could use imagin if James McLean did join us? Just think for 2 minutes if we did sign him, I think he would be a good signing for us. But I think we can do better and as I would love McLean to join us, it would just bring to much sectarian attention to our club if we did sign him. Not just because he's A proud Irish man from free Derry and doesn’t want to wear a poppy and ditched Northern Ireland for republic lol but why would he want to play for a country singing anti fenien songs, my Granda was a prodfrom shankill biggest person hole in Belfast. and I am catholic and my kids are catholic. Grew up in a catholic area. And I wouldn’t change anything for the world. They are **** they bring their kids up to hate Catholics or any1 who is not white over here.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2019 20:23:24
Ignatius

How to you get to be "most average".

The way averages work is like this. The average of 7 and 3 is 5.

It is an absolute, so superlatives do not not apply.

You can use a superlative for "stupid", so well done on that one!

Bhoys anybody (Welshy maybe) know the words to the new Green brigade song "Celts are going for 10 in a row". Heard the GB singing it at recent home games and the fans were singing it in Valencia. Sounds a banger 👍🏻.

Can't help but believe if we had fixed what needed fixed in the window and pushed the boat just a little more we could have beaten Valencia and with drawing Krasnodar next round could really have made a right good fist of it, oh well next window maybe not as much needed as some seem to think the backbone of the team is strong just that little bit more quality and have to say Hayes ajer both did very well in Valencia giving BR some hard decisions to make.

With Brendan working on improving Burke ( possibly for him to go back to wba a better player) , where does this leave eduarde . For us to sign someone for 9 million he really needs to be starting every game when he’s fit, I appreciate he’s had injuries this season but he needs to cement his place in the team and start proving his worth to us. If I was in his shoes I’d be pretty peed off if a 6 month loan was starting ahead of me . Also because of the outlay it needs to work for the manager as the club would be very uncomfortable agreeing to another signing like that, if they can’t see a profit in it further down the line.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 15:12:16
He has only himself to blame. Accept he has had injuries but his form is patchy at best and he needs to show a bit more drive and effort. And don't believe for 1 minute we paid 9 mil. Not a chance.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'll say it again for the hard of thinking - The Edoaurd fee was registered with FIFA/TMS as 10.3 million Euros.
The full contracted costs and all parties involved in any and all transfers are required to be reported by clubs to FIFA who maintain the Transfer Matching System (International and Domestic) to record all details and costs for all transfers of professional players in all FIFA member states. Clubs are required to submit this data and there are sanctions imposed if they don't - ranging from warnings, through fines, competition bans and even relegation.}

22 Feb 2019 15:38:54
People keep using Edouards fee against him but before us he had only had half a season out on loan professionally.

If we are accepting being a project driven club then these are the sort of results u need to get used to.

Purple patches followed by dry spells.

It's hard for young guys experiencing injuries and falling down the pecking order.

Part of learning curve. Different from the days of having international level players who have been in European finals etc.

When he is on form he is unplayable.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I remember someone asking me where this info was - www.fifatms.com - and he came back saying it's not real because the website isn't fancy enough - even though it's an official FIFA website 😂😂😂
The users of the TMS data base are the clubs and the associations (e.g. The SFA). There are certain others that have full access to the data but no ability to change it - this is to ensure transparency and includes one News Agency, but it is not public data.}

22 Feb 2019 17:30:34
He played 16 first team games before joining us . he came I believe as the club expected dembele to stay for another season? thus giving us time to develop him . he is a boy with limited experience of first team football and still learning his trade but has potential to become a real good player.

Ed i think that's the 2 or 3rd time chinks came out with that nonsense. No point repeating yourself over and over.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Oh right, I didn't notice that.}

22 Feb 2019 19:52:25
Ed, when a fee is announced as undisclosed in the media, does that website have the exact fee?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate the undisclosed part only means it's not being made public.}

22 Feb 2019 22:12:14
Just got to be patient with Edouard. The fee is is a magnifying glass for us, but isn't much in the scheme of things. To have Moussa spirited away when he was French Ed was always going to play off him has also made it hard. He's working hard, he's still growing, its an uncompromising role he's being asked to play and I'm glad he's sticking around.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Feb 2019 19:56:59
Someone is trying to make trouble Edouard is an exciting young 20 year old player . Who has suffered from a series of injuries, like many youngsters . In all probability he will become a brilliant player . Surely no sensible Celtic supporter would think that in a game like last Thursday's B R should ignore fit options available, who he expected to do a good job and instead pick an unfit player trying to work his way back to fitness .
I don't think B R is that big an idiot that in an important game he wouldn't play the best team available.

The sfa come out and condemn coin throwing good on them
The sfa come out and condemn sectarian singing good on them but where the he'll have they been for the last 100 odd years with the oldcos policy of not signing Catholics and although some of our away support can be questionable at home there's virtually no sectarian singing at all, on the other hand sevco home and away are a poison that should have been delt with years ago.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Let's be clear here, singing songs about Irish Republicanism is NOT sectarian. So apart from the "Cheer up...." to the Monkees tune and the odd added on line to songs there is very little sectarianism if any in anything our support sing. I have said it before, Celtic fans sing about things they love whereas the Klan sing about things they hate, they actually sing more songs about the IRA than we do!}

22 Feb 2019 14:30:32
Spot on ed am fed up our home support getting dragged down with the klan. quick example a guy at my work a few years ago was looking to take his kid to games he wasn't a football man but asked me about parkhead but he said he'd try ibrokes as well about a month later after hed been at both grounds he came up and said it'd be parkhead as the atmosphere and the general feeling compared to ibrokes his words was night and day and he felt more comfortable and so did his boy . says it all for me.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You'll find that most people that say one side is as bad as the other are either a moron or have never lived here. It wouldn't take much to get rid of the Cheer up and the add ons so why don't the support try it and then see what happens when others want to play whataboutery?}

22 Feb 2019 15:30:24
Spot on Ed. Breath of fresh air here. I don't care one bit about what outsiders think of us.

However so many of our own support have bought into the idea they songs are sectarian when they are not.

That's what disappoints me. Our own target and criticise their own support and wrongly so. simply to appease the idiotic opinions of the uneducated on the other side.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 15:59:15
1 man's freedom fighter is another mans terrorist. As you said Ed that lot sing more about the IRA The Pope and than any rangers song. They think even folk songs are sectarian. We don't sing about being up to our knees in protestant blood. SG is puzzled that Clarke was offered the job. Its not that hard to work out You are Sloppy Seconds! Just like your club/ company. 🍀.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Does anyone remember the nutcase that phoned Radio Snyde saying the Irish national anthem and flag were sectarian? 😂😂😂😂😂

22 Feb 2019 16:28:20
I was going to post something similar about this issue.
What I am annoyed about is the moron on our side who threw the coin at Boyd and the damaged seats, however the damage was caused. All it has done is allow the mainstream press and all the sevco apologists on snyde and bbc shortbread/ EBT to lump us with them under the "Old Firm" banner.
The SFA have kept quiet about the singing at Ibrokes because they did not want to upset the Klan, but our idiots have allowed them to beat us with the same brush.
Now we have King and Stevie Gee, suddenly being all moral and taking the high ground. Hypocrites.

Agree0 Disagree0

And were still discussing THEM 🙈.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Blame Steve Clarke - he brought it up!}

22 Feb 2019 23:56:42
Been saying that for decades Ed; there's nothing sectarian about most 'rebel songs' - although some find them offensive or in bad taste - depending on opinions; they don't target religion as such.
Although there may be references to British/ English occupation.
Their is a partisan Irish element within our support and it is no different to Scotland fans singing 'Flower of Scotland' etc.
There are abusive songs that target a religious community or ethnic group, with hateful and insulting lyrics are very precisely sectarian and they form 90% of one club's repertoire.
The broadcasters, politicians and football authorities do nothing.

Personally I think we have more than enough Celtic songs and anthems to 'belt out' every game and there have always been very imaginative and humorous Celtic 'composers' over the years to keep adding more chants and chorus's to our song-sheet.

22 Feb 2019 23:04:10

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You've lost me.....}

22 Feb 2019 23:20:58
Thanks for the link Ed. Very thorough.

On the songs we hurl back and forth at each other and at ourselves, I sometimes wish we could look at them just as songs. Burns himself wrote Jacobite and anti-Jacobite songs. These are a testament to both groups of fans, to our inventiveness, humour (sometimes black) , prejudice and venality. Mostly I think to our humour. Some, certainly, are incitements, and provoke.
But then we have a long tradition of that too And it is a credit to society that we rarely rise to the incitement. I guess I know that when they sing 'surrender or you'll die' that I don't have to surrender, and I probably won't die as a result.

This is dangerously close to the 'banter' defence--which I don't accept. But there is something to be said for our glorious, belligerent, song culture.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - At one point though the 'surrender or you die' did mean that you were getting your face taken off with an open razor whether you surrendered or not - and what about Mark Scott that had his throat cut in Bridgeton simply for wearing Celtic colours?}

22 Feb 2019 13:00:49
Think Burke has a long way to go his play on the ball is average at best there might be another years loan on the offing and it would be another year developing.

He’s to fast for himself if at makes any sense, he was clean through down the Left and started to lose his feet abit. Then on the other side he was the only Celtic player up the pitch our team couldn’t keep up lol.

Europe as always is a mixed blessing.
The Scottish co efficient ill rise by 6 places next season to number 20, but one more point and we would be 19h eliminating the early first qualifying round, and if we get down to 15 the country gets back 2 CL places.
But for Celtic we GO BACK a place as we only earned 6 co efficient points this term and on the 5 year system we lose 7 points off the club co efficent, meaning overall we lose 1 point.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 13:49:33
Unless there is a desire to play regular champions League or go further in Europa League then this will keep happening. We don't spend much money, if any, therefore we will never progress on the continent. The day will come were we won't even get into Europe as all the other teams on the continent will get better, while Scottish football, and Celtic, stagnate.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 12:31:38
My one performance I was disappointed with last night was boyata. For me he would be on the bench the rest of the season with simo and ajer first choice. Need to build a partnership for next season and boyata is no better than either of them for me. But Last night show we can compete in Europe and with a few defensive reinforcements in the summer and we can progress.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 12:54:43
Thought boyata was excellent as was the whole back line, couple of times concentrating between the back 3 happened early on with misplaced passes but apart from that they were very strong under pressure.

Boyata was awful first half and rock solid second half. Jozo and Ajer was rocks too. Brown and Bain also.

22 Feb 2019 19:24:59
All the nonsense aside I think we need better than Boyata. He done ok second half but really he's not that great a defender.

We can do better. We need 2 quality CBs and Ajer should learn from them.

I asked this on the live chat last night but though I'd ask the rest of the site.

Would you be happy for Johnny Hayes to be KTs main back up for next season?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 10:22:59
Yeah. I think he's better than Izzy. I'd try give Calvin Miller a game 3rd choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 10:51:18
Not really. He played wingback last night which is a different role.

I think we need an actual left back to back him up not a winger.

Calvin miller wasn't even a left back either until recently.

However realistically no decent left back will come in as their chances of beating Tierney to the first team would be so slim.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 11:30:11
Can anyone remember brown haveing hip trouble and it rumbling on for ages? Then I think he had to have surgery.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 12:28:37
BR never brought Hayes in to play LB, but he has adapted well, although I think (like Izzy) he is a naturally attacking player.
The long absence and reluctance to risk KT in recent games does have me worried about the extent and possible recurring injury problem?
His influence and presence has been really missed and I hope he has fully recovered - although I am certain he will be targeted as usual without referee protection - starting against Murderwell on Sunday.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 12:46:30
Yes. I think he showed his attacking abilities. Defensively he's probably going to be suspect now and again, which is acceptable really given that he's not a defender, but so is Izzy.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 07:59:33
So the standard has been set. Last night was how i want a Celtic team to play away in Europe. We were brave on the ball, had an enormous appetite to shut them down off it, and generally were very unlucky to lose. Like the home leg, we just switched off twice and were punished. By the way, Hayes does not deserve stick for the first goal, Izzy and even KT have been caught there.

I am pleased for Bain, who i have wanted in for months, who last night showed he can be a solid keeper. The twisting save in the first half was even better than it looked, truly first class keeping given he was heading in the opposite direction. Ajer, who again shows he consistently learns lessons, was immense and will be a huge player for us in the years to come. Once again Broony was a dominant force, write this guy off at your peril media puppets.

No failures and a very positive attitude required here. This form and speed of our play, if it continues, will blow everyone away in Scotland. Interesting game Sunday, murderwell are getting plenty of praise for a huge change in style with talented youngsters, will they come and have a go given the short recovery time we have?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Feb 2019 09:52:22
Brendan mentioned he played a box system in midfield which got the better of their diamond shape. It is something positive we can use in future games. It was also good experience for the players and no damage done to morale. We can now concentrate on the league and possible treble treble.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 11:08:33
Don’t think any1 could really blame Hayes for at goal, it was a great ball over top any world class left back could of have been caught out with at ball. Think maybe Jozo could have done abit better marking gameiro in the box. All the team was outstanding I thought Ajer played class don’t think any1 has mentioned him yet running at Valencia and defending was brilliant to. All in all the whole team was brilliant just unlucky for at red card and not to get a goal of our own. Hail hail the BHOYS!

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Feb 2019 16:26:12
The team for me were very very good passing was quick and accurate we were better than Valencia before the sending off and that’s no easy task Valencia we have to remember are a very good side who beat Man Utd recently and are doing well in a strong league, heyes was awesome didn’t stop running and skinned a few of their players up the field definitely good enough back up for kt and an option for lw with sinky and Johnstone next year rw Forrest and Morgan will probably be our rw and I’m happy with that, cb did amazing job ajar and simo back to their best and Bain for me was unreal his distribution was excellent, brown who I have recently rightly dismissed was at his very best I’ve not seen him like that in a while, mcgregor and Christie again as per usual top class especially mcgregor, Burke isn’t as good as Weah for me and I miss griff up front as I think he’s our best goal scorer, eduard seems unwilling to run in seems slow
I’ll put that down to his lay off but another goal scorer with pace will be needed in the summer, I will get flamed for this but Sam cosgrove looks a good striker all in all very happy the way things are going hail hail.
