Was talking to workmates today about Roberts who is due to play again soon, this is the same position as Forest, so my thoughts are PR -LG-MD- (JF on the left ) now if we drop Sinclair into a No10 role then we have an even faster mid-front . Any thoughts.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 22:55:35
It would probably mean Rogic dropping out, but it's good to have options.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:59:33
I thought of that too but with PR behind LG, JF on the right and S on the left be mad fast.

. LG.

. PR.
SS. SB. TR. JF
KT. KT. ERIK. ML
BUT if we sign this attacking/ playmaker mid go 3 at the back and all out carnage in the SPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 23:12:23
BR may play some games with JF PR and SS behind LG with them having a licence to switch about. I imagine that could be very unsettling for a lot of defences lol.

I think sinclair could play up front wiv griffiths. he has an eye for goal and is more the finished article.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 08:02:17
We can't leave SB as the only player able to land a tackle and compete. Plus TR brings others in to the game.

Good options though.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2016 08:12:55
It's a long season in 4 comps so they should all play there part.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:33:32
Last I checked the total so far was heading for 60000! Unbelievable, truly remarkable. If karma is a real thing I'm getting a score on us to win the champions league haha.

£63,500 can see them reaching £100,000 or more. Just wonder if any players will donate once the match is over tomorrow night?

23 Aug 2016 08:14:02
Apparently UEFA have enacted rule 74 ( a) GIRUY rule whereby the quantum / scope of fine will be treble whatever the sum raiser by crowd funding. Seems like sour grapes.

Also UEFA have said that if the fund continues to rise they will have no option but to start tonight's game with a penalty to hapoel and the referee appointed for the game will be scottish

It seems they have us in a bind.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Aug 2016 08:53:41
If i could go back a week i would take a flag to the game. What a difference a few days make. I no longer care about it being a football venue or even what UEFA do. It's about doing what's right. Full support for Palestine. Hope this continues to grow and reaches every corner of the planet.

100k now. I know of the two charities but is any of it actually going towards UEFA's fine or would there be too much red tape?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:09:40
Wasn't Forrest goal phenomenal? Total class. The run. The balance. The movement past the last defender. The eyes. The dummy on the keeper and the all round composure.

Superb

Like having a new player

On a different subject do we sacrifice rogic tomorrow for biton and go with Brown and mcgregor with Sinclair griffiths and Forrest up top and 4 at the back?

The problem with that is the lack of a good passer to bring the wingers and strikers in to the game and so we will be countering r from deep

I think he will go biton for rogic and same team

In with old bhoy IE too early for erik and we will go with oconnell.

22 Aug 2016 19:51:48
I have the utmost admiration for everyone involved, regardless of the punishment dished out. The small gesture from our support has brought the plight of these people back into the public eye. That can only be a good thing in my opinion.

Sky reporting 45 grand and also said celtic fans have raised same amount for Palestinian charities . club like no other.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 20:36:22
It's getting split between two charities. One is for medical supplies and the other is for a recreational centre for kids, the centre said they're going to start a team for kids n they're going to call it Aida celtic. This is getting huge for both Palestine and celtic. There's a picture of an Italian team possibly genoa? And they've got a big banner saying respect to celtic fans. Also that's over £50k raised now. Unbelievable.

I'm not sure JT i don't think i uploaded my collection, I will though once i get a photo. I've never thrown anything away i have it all in 8+ huge boxes in my parents attic. Must have over 100 scarves aswel. Even have an unopened bottle of that rank Celtic beer they used to sell in the boozers about 20 years ago.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 18:32:41
It's not a dig at anyone I M O, it's basically a requirement for our midfield and attackers
B R won't ask some of these players to run their guts out and press all over the place . I expect Commons won't see much time on the field as he doesn't appreciate that side of the game.

22 Aug 2016 18:54:53
I really wish johansen would get back to form and get on Rodgers side. Think he could fit in well as a box to box player and he was my favourite player 2 seasons ago. Very strange what has happened to his form over the past year.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 20:13:16
Nt87, think johansen getting a few games in the team with the confidence in us right now I do feel there's a position there 4 him. He was tremendous in his 1st season n even when out of form n carrying injuries, or coming back from them, he was always the 1 chasing down further up top and pressing high. Br wants us playing that way and johansen would fit Brendan's style of play perfectly.
Just hope we don't sell him.

22 Aug 2016 16:19:12
that will be good time for us as it will not be as hot.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 12:13:13
Slightly concerned about a lot of posters on here thinking tie is over. We will have to contend with the heat 35% plus humidity of 65% added to a 6 hour travel, and don't forget Celtic are not the greatest away from home either. This is a difficult tie, make no mistake.

But to end more positively, we hold a 3 goal lead so should be able to qualify with that advantage, in one way with the Israelis having to attack us, it should leave gaps for us to exploit. If we score over there then I think we will go through.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

22 Aug 2016 12:29:46
We had the same rubbish a few weeks in Astana this is no different. Same again like we did then. This is a different celtic we are watching now. And only going to get better HH.

22 Aug 2016 12:52:28

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:15:16
as long as the management team and player know its not i wouldn't worry about it. we will score out there, can't see us getting beat 5-1.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:20:15
Bit of an acid test tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I want to go further than just qualify and make up the numbers. But the whole side in such key games has collapsed in recent seasons. The new manager seems to have rejuvinated the whole club, and the signings that have been made actually improve the side, with the team playing pretty well. I maintain Be'er Sheva are the easiest play off tie we've had in ages. Add all that to a 3 goal lead and we don't have a better chance. We'll take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:43:22
Csc 4 1 and we're out on away goals not 5 1.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:51:35
No game of football is a foregone conclusion, however unless something very unexpected hits us early in the game. We should have too much to spare.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Aug 2016 15:53:37
Also Astana was further away, less time difference and I think a better team.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 16:50:52
Celtic have the unique knack of lifting you to the stars or dropping you into a chasm of despair and I think when you go back as long as we have Tim, it's never a good thing to be too cocky/ over confident.
On saying that; we have given ourselves a great chance with the three goal gap, but the two conceded show how brittle the defense can be and especially how vulnerable the goalkeeper is.
BR and the team will know an away goal or two will be the perfect way to negotiate the tie, rather than defend and hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 11:56:58
Guys I'm so confident, not only will we score, we will win 3-1 for us . They have to come out and attack us, and with the pace mid to front will will get goals .

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 11:43:19
cant say i'm even bothered about any new imminent signings at the moment, just enjoying the start to the season and how the team is developing under br and his management team. just concentrating on tuesday nights game and then we will see what happens before the window closes, obviously i'd like another 1 or 2 but it won't be the end of the world if he waits until winter window to get more in, don't think we need to strengthen to win the scotish league, but it will take more than one window to strengthen for european football anyway.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 08:42:10
Do the 3rd and 4th placed teams in the CL groups both drop into the Europa? I thought I heard a commentator say that but it may be wishful thinking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 10:08:41
Just the 3rd mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 10:12:16
I don't think that the 3rd placed team in a Champions league group should be allowed to drop into the Europa league, once a team is knocked out of a tournament that should be it.
You wouldn't have a team that lost a Scottish cup tie going down into the Scottish challenge cup, so why do they do it in European competitions.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 10:15:54
I think that would mess up the numbers.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 11:14:59
I think the proof of that would have lay in the St Johnstone game on Sat surprised and said in live chat that Eric never came off the bench to get a wee bit of game time but a suppose he was not out that long

A expect him to appear from the bench IMO.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Aug 2016 13:57:10
Yes only the 3rd place enter the Europa League .
Maybe B R is satisfied with his current centre halves of Tuora and O'Connell and with the bit of a partnership they have created . He may not risk Eric and Tuora who even if Eric had played on Saturday still wouldn't have had many minutes together.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 18:03:49
Cash mate, pure and simple. It's to protect those big clubs who generate the cash but have a wee bit bad luck so the drop-down at least keeps them in Europe.

I'd stick with the same team from last week except maybe have Bitton in for McGregor to protect the defence a bit more.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 08:52:43
I'd bring in Erik if he is fully fit alongside Kolo.

That might be a bit harsh on O'Connell and he has played a lot of games and a break occasionally does no harm. He was a bit sloppy on Saturday and this game is so important and I worry if he made any mistakes how our own fans would reaact. He has a very bright future if he continues to develop his game.

In truth I'm more concerned about Gordon and I've noticed more and more of his flaws that ED007 had pointed out a long time back. I think he looks nervous and that's not good for any defender in front of him.

Agree kev! Bitton for mcgregor and keep the rest the same! Erik and kolo will be our number 1 partnership this season but Young oconnel has came in and done a good job for us! He deserves to keep his place for 2morrow! But after that now Erik is fit he has to be in there with big toure!

O'Connell has been fantastic but he showed his inexperience on Saturday with 3 or 4 slack balls that will get punished at a higher level. Back 4 of Lustig Toure Erik Tierney.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 10:22:57
Ed i was watching Match of the Day noticed loads of teams are going with the 4-1-4-1 formation you suggested last week. Had a close eye on Man City they are very good at changing the system between attack and defence.

Agree2 Disagree1

22 Aug 2016 11:26:36
For a game of this importance he has to pick the best 11 available and Schiavchenko should give dodgy Gordon more protection with Bitton and Brown in front of him.
The manager will know better than me, however, but I do think we can score away from home in most games and it would settle the whole team if we could grab a goal or two tomorrow night.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 11:55:49
What happened to "you can't play Bitton and Brown together because they slow it all down"? Maybe they just weren't playing well last season? At their best I think they are the best option for this one.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 12:04:05
I thin Brown has been playing a lot better and has his confidence back and is pushing forward more than last season. So I think Broony and Bitton will be superb in front of the defence. Looked slow last year but under BR the whole team just looks quicker, stronger and fitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 14:02:28
If you watch any centre back or indeed a player in any position, it's unlikely they won't play three or four slack balls throughout the 90 mins . Toura did so on Saturday
I would be surprised if B R didn't play what he considered his best team . What B R thinks is his best team and what posterson here thinks could well be different.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 00:27:54
Read a few things from BR there, says a marquee player isn't important he just wants to bring in players who will work hard every game and every training session and be able to press and run for 90 min! Think we can all rule out the ya ya toures the Stevie g and Xavi then! I'm encouraged by this! I want quality In but it's got to be the right age! Really hoping the manager has got a few mind if we get through on Tuesday! Pleased with how the squads shaping up but would love a couple in for the CL!

If we get there beav.

On the same theme, it's a pity that 2 decent additions who can play to to this system is contingent on CL qualification

Is that because the targets have said as much IE qualify and we will come, don't qualify and you can forget it ( do we want players like that )

Or

Is it the case that the package and fees won't be sanctioned by CFC unless we have the guarantee of CL monies in which case where was the investment this year (ie the non contingent investment that didn't rely upon CL windfall)

Neither is a criticism but more of a query

They reckon 3 away pre end August and 2 in. Sounds feasible

These need to be the areas

But if izzy goes then we need a lB for cover too

Not counting my chickens just yet paradise! Lol. i know we're in the driving seat but that can quickly change if we don't start well! And I think there will be a lot of players out there who we have made contact with that will hold off to see how tomorrow goes first! I don't like that attitude but that's just the way it is! Just hoping there's a couple lined up for when or if we qualify! I'm sure there will be.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 08:44:40
Well said Paradisewon, it slightly irritates me that players may be waiting on CL qualification. These players must want to come to us and be aware of probable mid week journeys to Inverness, Dingwall and Aberdeen. The Scottish league is our bread and butter after all.

If on the other hand the Board are waiting on qualifying. why? Surely we want these players in regardless and not just for 6 CL fixtures (hopefully more)

Just want the job done tomorrow and then we'll hopefully see what BR's plans are.

Agree1 Disagree0

Qualification for the CL will make us an attractive proposition in what's left of the transfer window; however, as stated above it is paramount that any players joining the club give as much in games at Dingwall, Dundee and Pittodrie on a Saturday lunchtime or muddy, chilly, midweek matches as the handfull of glamour games, as we continue to dominate the SPL.

The Marquee thing for me is a big gamble. Realise there is the quality over quantity idea, which is the right way to go but swinging all the way to one blockbuster player for one position can pan out either way. Now that competition for Gordon is in, I'd hope we'd bring in 2 or 3 more players for positions mentioned above (would focus on striker and good holding player for middle) Full back positions are an area that needs strengthening but would hope wold hold on to Izzy for cover until January.

I wish people would just take the extra few seconds per name to write it out rather than abbreviate it to the first and second initials. It took me so long to translate paradise's that I didn't even bother.
