I think Lawell has don a great job for the bhoys.
We are now virtually debt free in these hard times.
We are probably/hopefully going into the champions league making up to 15/20 million if not more.
We have a very young squad with a great sell on value eg
Big Frazer worth probably 5 million after recent displays
Izzy,Mathews, kayak,Forrest, hooper,victor, all 5 million plus
Rogue,commons,brown,stokes,charley we would get
Decent money for. Well done PL and well done to out chief scout.

I enjoy writing to this site and would like to recommend the following senerio if you work on the priniple that the players you bring in should be better than the ones who leave i suggest the following
offer Lustig for Caldwell
Wilson for Berra
McCourt for Bannan Murphy for Dorrans
Bangura for Janko
The money from Ki and C L buy Rhodes, Perelta, Henriksen and Ambrose That squad could compete with anyone

Believable1 Unbelievable9

Your deluded! L1888

Agree7 Disagree4

As soon as i saw caldwell, you're post lost all credibility and descended into farcical terms

taco

Agree6 Disagree5

Caldwell did a good job for us=now an epl captain-do some not rate him because he wasn't a badge kisser or foreign?wf

Agree8 Disagree4

I thought Caldwell was ok taco, suffered for playing next to McManus in my opinion, better than any centre half we've had since I'd say, mulgrew maybe an exeption but he's prone to a f**k up too. L1888

Agree8 Disagree5

Murphy for Dorrans are you on something . WBA knocked back a good few million for Dorrans...".DH

Agree3 Disagree2

Caldwell always seemed to feck up in the big games. calamity Caldwell

Agree5 Disagree4

Oh No!Mr Green Fingers is back.Thought he had been captured and sent back to his secure unit?

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree8 Disagree1

The majority of caldwell's errors were made when he was running back trying to cover mcmanus' vacant position. this all changed every time big mick wasnt playing.
in his las season caldwell was actually half decent
frankiebhoy

Agree3 Disagree3

Lustig for Caldwell ,wouldn't have caldwell backfor anyone give us a break.. you his agent? ...col

ki is no necessarily better or worse than any of the player we have. its just that his style of football is more suited to the english game where players get more time on the ball and thing are alot more tactical.

i have heard that Roque Santa Cruz is back in England discussing his future with Man City, i think with his experience he could be a good buy or year loan for us, maybe pay half his wages, he would be good for the champions league if we could get him, Thoughts !

Believable1 Unbelievable5

If only . Never happen though.

Agree3 Disagree1

He had one good season at Blackburn , if we are going to blow our budget on high profile player which I doubt anyway I'd prefer we done it with someone approaching their peak, not in their decline

I know his wages would be a stumbling block but just a shout. What about Berbatov, apparently man utd letting him go for £3million to Fiorentina

Believable3 Unbelievable8

The fact that we would never pay 3 mil for a 31 year old & neither we should would be a bigger stumbling block, waste of money no resale value, plus as u say the 40k a week he'd be looking for, L1888

As mentioned today i really hope the likes of Connor Wickham and DJ Campbell are not serious targets for Neil Lennon.I agree a centre forward is a priority and would love to see Jordan Rhodes at Parkhead bit i believe Marc Janko would be a very useful addition, very physical and would add a completeley different element to our attack.

see the newco have done a deal with mike ashley sport direct company,i will never buy any more merchandise from this company hope all celtic fans do the same as i am not putting money into to there coffers

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I do not like that shop anyway and usually go out of my way to avoid it. Its always a clutter and has 70% off everything. Mrs E

Agree5 Disagree1

Your clubs on the verge of champions league qualification and your worried about what shop is selling Rangers tops. Absolutely pathetic!
Maybe I'll stop watching Stv, they show your games!!!!!!!!!!

Agree3 Disagree8

I thought you rungers mob were already boycotting everything? Did that not include spl, stv, bbc, media and everything else since you say everyone is against yous? Guess that was just talk and like everything about your club you WALKED AWAY from that, why?, cause you realized that no one cares about yous and wouldn't matter?

Agree6 Disagree3

It's only a sports shop for crying out loud.

How pathetic....

TTG

Agree3 Disagree3

Yes ttg, its only a sports shop, but lets be honest, its as tacky as anything anyway. anytime you walk in, everything is everywhere and the staff are about as useful as a big bag full of craig whyte iou's
frankiebhoy

Agree2 Disagree1

TTG...you're 100% correct and I won't be boycotting it. I just mentioned I hardly go in anyway but thats maybe just a female thing. I don't like the clutter in it or the way you can hardly move. Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree1

Don't get me wrong folks, Sports Direct ain't exactly a classy sports shop. I've never set-foot in any store. The one on Sauchiehall Street frightens the Craig Whyte out me!

But the main poster here was clearly, at one point, a sports direct loyal till Mike Ashley made is small investment and now he is boycotting the 90% sale bargains...he won't get these bargains anywhere else lol

TTG

Agree0 Disagree1

Well done Frankiebhoy. I was laughing at a bag full of Craig Whyte, then I read the next line - IOUs and laughed some more!

Agree2 Disagree1

To The Rangers fans on here having a pop and giving it the old it's only a shop..... let me ask you something...... Have you ever drank in Bairds ? It's only a pub

Oh but it's a Celtic pub you cry.... well sports direct is now a The Rangers shop

So when you want a pint in Bairds i'll consider buying 70% discounted donnay socks from your shop

Now run along and catch up with the Ramsdens cup draw

Gary

Agree8 Disagree4

Gary,

Sorry to burst your bubble but I have actually been in the Wee Man's bar for a few pints.

Don't you realise the stupidity of this small debate you have just started. You are as pathetic as the O.P.

Bairds is a Celtic pub full of Celtic fans that play Celtic songs. Sport's Direct is a sports shop that sells sports gear. It's not only a Rangers shop. I am pretty sure Rangers will only profit from the sale of Rangers items...not the sale of Donnay socks. I highly doubt the Sauchiehall Sreet store will be jampacked will Rangers fans beltin out follow follow!!

TTG

Agree4 Disagree1

Think we should call it the "Pawnbrokers Cup" from now on! lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Re its only a sports shop pathetic
heres a wee list asda larkhall had to change to red white blue , lloyds chemist had to change colour , guard fitted to green traffic light ,eggs benedict taken off,
menu cakes returned to bakers because of green icing, now thats really pathetic.

Agree1 Disagree1

I'm guessing my point hit a nerve that you've mentioned incidents involving YOUTHS in Larkhall?

As far as I'm aware the egg's benedict thing was blown way out of proportion. There was, infact a change of menu, which happens regularly at decent restaurants.

TTG {Ed007's Note - My mother's family have stayed in Larkhall all their life. It is not just youths that think along those lines believe me mate.}

Andy Walker a little beastie of a man! Ban him from paradise,.,.kbarry

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Gotta say his mealy mouthed nonsense is becoming very tedious. To try and make out we faced waves of attack last night is clearly rubbish. We had a rocky 15-20 minutes and were comfortable,in the main, whole second half.Really cannot understand these ex players of ours, with some exeptions............green jhedi

Agree10 Disagree1

We must be the only club who's ex players constantly critice everything the club does especially walker, proven, charlie nickolas

I remember he came to our Celtic Supporters club dance in the 90s era, He turned up at midnight and left about 5 minutes later. Thanks for that Andy person.

Great result last night.want to say two things.i dont understand those who say we dont need scott brown in the team.we do.secondly, how good a player is forrest turning into.i thought he was being overrated last season, but by feck that boy can play.hes got a big big future ahead of him.lets hope its at celtic park.artybhoy

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I've always been a fan of James Forrest and, although I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just don't get his critics at all. ~ Mrs E

Agree4 Disagree3

Forrest gives up sometimes though and doesn't chase, he needs to learn all aspects of the game. By the way Matthews played well cause he was isolated 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 many times by playing a winger in front and Helsingborg isolated the fullbacks and split the centre half brilliant, better teams will do the same lessons can be learned all round and we can get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree about Brown....but that's the first time forrest has shown what he can do in about 9 months!
He had a great start to last season, then just disappeared for me, sometimes looked like we were playing with a man down..perhaps he was believing his own hype, i dunno...but a good return to form last night

taco

Agree2 Disagree1

Gives up what ?? Learn all aspects of the game...yeah lets make him the goalkeeper or slot him in at centre half.

I just don't know why he made it this far.

The bhoys and out & out winger, let him do what he's best at. Mrs E

Rumour has it, Barcelona are going to offer £100milion for SUPERSTAR Mo Bangura, his celtic career has got off to a lightning start, and from a Celtic fan, I'd rather keep him.
(sarcasm)

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I totally agree. Mo Bangura will be a superstar. £100 million wouldn't buy his boots. I'll be furious if Lenny and PL sell him for that amount. It's a pittance! lol

Afternoon Ed and folks,
missed the game last night due to work - so just watched it back. What a result and performance! - particularly the second half performance. Excellent. Admittedly the first half we rode our luck at times. But 2 NIL away from home is an absolutely SUPERB result.
It is only half-time in the tie but I believe we will finish the job in a controlled manner at home next week.
What an achievement it will be for Neil Lennon to take this YOUNG side into the Group stages. I have posted before that I have faith in this young side and its potential - and I stick with it. They still have massive scope for improvement - which is exciting for all Celtic fans.
Without tempting fate, I am looking forward to seeing these young players up against the very best this season. Through this our players will improve and increase in value - helping the medium-term finances of the club as a whole.
I also hope we may finally be able to shake the Champs League Away match monkey off our backs (given the chance). Samaras' and Forrests' pace sets us up perfectly for counter-attacking football - so often needed in Europe.
All in all, a very satisfying night but it is only half-time lads - lets finish the job professionally next week! Hail! hail!....................kbt1978

What a result Celts; another 2-0 away win in Europe! Commons is back to his best and long may it continue.
He not only is scoring the goals, but was helping out Mathews, chasing back doubling up aqll night.
(Something Samaras and Izzaguire fail to do)
I hope the injury he picked up is not serious as I think there was a Celtic player nearer the ball that should have made the tackle.
Big Forster kept us in it until half-time as the midfield lost the place and the amount of times we gave the ball away was ridiculous between lazy clearances and silly wee flicks. We would have been really punished by a better team. We miss an old head or 2 to calm things down and hold the ball when we go ahead in Europe. Maybe on the bench too as I fail to see Mjallby and Parker's contribution in difficult times.
Hooper did a lot of running, but I wonder if he needs a better strike partner or is he being distracted??
A good few of them had hot and cold moments and if the whole team can finally hit top form on the same day we hopefully will see this through to the groups.
I am obviously delighted with the result, but there are a few areas we need to improve on and a couple of quality signings will better the team and give the squad a 'jolt' with increased competition IMO.

Jungle Jim

Believable2 Unbelievable2

The defence is very nervy Jungle Jim...Is Wanyama back for the next game ?

We have been crying out for a centre half for a while and really need PL to loosen the purse strings just a tad. Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree1

Yup - Vic is available for Parkhead.

I am struggling to find room for Scott Brown in our midfield if all fit.

Would much rather have Kayal, Ledley, Wanyama with Commons and Sammy on as wingers.

Linnie88

Agree2 Disagree10

Brown is a must in the midfield gives us a bit of dig, kayal at the moment is rank rotten should maybe try doing the simple things instead of trying fancy flicks and overhead kicks on edge of our box.

Agree7 Disagree2

Don't agree, Brown is a must in the midfield.

Agree5 Disagree1

Thanks Linnie...he can't drop Commons and would think Wanyama will have to start. We need defenders on the park, in midfield and at the back.

The team choice for ICT will be interesting, I would start Tony Watt. I really want a win this weekend but reckon the focus will be next Wednesday. Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree1

Brown would be my 1st pick every week, when he was out injured last season, we struggled, he is key to midfield in my eyes, and if he was foreign, everyone would be saying hes fantastic. jj

Agree4 Disagree1

Sorry Linnie but Broony should be 1st in any midfield in IMO.

Barry the janny
you where spot on ed , i asked you yesterday what you thought score would be , 1-0 or 2-0 hope you had a wee flutter on it .We can take lots of positives from this game back to parkhead and hopefully qualify for the CL group stages .. Dont like spoiling the party atmosphere but we clearly do need players in to strengthen the side ,although ALL players last night played their part in a brilliant win ... A BIG WELL DONE TO LENNY AND THE BHOYS {Ed007's Note - I don't gamble Barry, if I had bet it we would have got beat!}
