When your greed impairs your thinking
or The Peril of cashing out early

Today I placed a £30 each way Lucky 15, which is 4 horses in multiple bets. The odds were 4/ 1, 4/ 1, 6/ 1 and 25/ 1.
My first 2 horses won and third was placed at 6/ 1, meaning I was already up on my £30 outlay but not by that much, but when I checked Cash Out I was offered £200, which I thought at the time was a great return, so I accepted.
Yes you GUESSED, my 25/ 1 shot ROMPED home meaning my winnings would have been nearer £1500
Cash Out can be a good thing, IF you time it right, and do not get sucked in by the bookmaker enticing you with a "good" offer.
My greed got the better of me, but hey I still made a few bucks.
Thought I would post this as a warning what NOT to do. GROAN
Oh and to make the irony even more delicious, my 25/ 1 shot was called
LUCKY LUCKY MAN!

Ironically it looks like we've gone from a frightening attacking unit with a shaky defence to fairly solid defensively and lacking ideas in attack. I don't think it will take more than a few tweaks to reap the best of both. I don't see Rogic and McGregor fitting into the same team and on current form, I'd have Tam on the bench at the weekend and have a natural wide player on the left which should help stretch the opposition a bit more rather than congest the central areas.

100% correct Kev, Sinclair needs to be given a run back in the starting XI at the expense of Rogic, can't understand why he's not been given a run especially when he's been showing glimpses of his early form when he's been coming on.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 15:04:22
We have no penetration through the middle as it's always side to side and down both flanks. With all our midfielders surely 1 of them can step up and be the playmaker. As you say the defence looks far better with Benkovic in it. I used to worry every time a cross ball came into our box so he will steady my nerves! Gordon still gives me the fear tho with cross balls. We just haven't clicked together as of yet but hopefully that changes on Sunday. Not a great performance all round but 3 points is the start we needed.

I mentioned on the live-chat last night that, at least we were keeping clean sheets (5 in-a-row) and that was something we couldn't do since the season started. However, I agree with the consensus above, about Rogic, McGregor, Sinclair and Griffiths.
It's obvious that we need much more direct aggression and higher tempo as the sideways predictability was easy to defend against.
Young Johnston also made a real impact (and should have had a goal) when he came on and I think Forrest - like Rogic is going through the motions these days and needs a wee rest and reminder.
We need to get back to playing form players in their proper positions and using more pace and directness to translate possession into the goals we know the players are capable of.

I would play Malumbu in beside brown and push Ntcham on one to support the striker. The midfield would have a far better balance.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 18:53:49
Sack the Board, you may be right in playing Malumba, however are you not taking a chance playing a player you hardly know and who hasn't played in any team for the past 4/ 5 months . Mulumba may very well be a good player for us but it is maybe too early for him, BR will see him every day and is best suited to decide when to play him.

Last night was not the greatest euro game I have been at, but give team some credit, they kept at it, won the game and kept clean sheet. I also think Rosenburg were much better than last time we played them so well done Bhoys.
Now I am going to put this out there, I think Dembele leaving has unsettled young Odsonne and Nitcham looks like Moussa has put it in his head about "riches elsewhere" I would drop Nitcham and see what Mulumbu can do in his position starting on Sunday.
Also on Sunday at right back I would play Gamboa or Hendry and give Lustig a rest as I feel he is not able to play 3 games in a week.
Looking on the plus side, I thought Benkovic looks a player, Boyata (when he concentrates) is a must pick just now, and don't forget we have Biton, Morgan, Christie and Arzani all ready to play a part soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2018 12:10:11
He didn't look unsettled when he ran the game against The Rangers and scored winner.
He made a stupid mistake at weekend and then had an up and down game last night.
But he wasn't any worse than the rest of the mid field except Brown.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think Ntcham will be this season's Lustig/Boyata, any mistakes are going to be drastically magnified except this time they'll mean he's unhappy and wants to leave.
For me Ntcham was second only to KT last night for MOTM but we're seemingly now at a point that a few poor touches in a game means a player is missing his friend, wanting more money and wanting to leave - so what's Rogic and Forrest's excuses been for the last 6 or so years?
Have you ever noticed how poor Brown's control can be at times yet nobody sees any hidden meaning it that?
And that's now 5 clean sheets on the bounce - with Boyata being the only ever present in those 5 matches - and yet I've yet to read anyone praising the defence after months of crucifying them.}

21 Sep 2018 12:16:45
Credit should be given where its due. Boyata has been top class since all the transfer fiasco and Benkovic looks the buisness. His range of passing and read on the game seems spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 12:45:18
Boyata has been stand out in everyone of they 5 clean sheets but that magnifies what he did for me a bit ed. I really think we'd have qualified if he had played.
I do think he's now served his penance though.

Our worse player all season is rogic and he seems untouchable with some fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Maybe Rogic has went to the World Cup and it's been put in his head about the riches he can earn elsewhere and he's regretting signing a new deal, maybe we signed Arzani so that Rogic had a football friend at the Club to keep him happy?
That's about as believable as the Ntcham/Dembele stuff is it not?
If Ntcham needed Dembele to tell him about the riches he can get elsewhere he's either the thickest footballer on the planet and illiterate or has THE worst advisers on the planet.}

21 Sep 2018 13:42:25
Well put ed, I have been saying for months on here problem wasn't the defense.
Ive also said Eddi is a Samaras type in that he needs grass to run into, games like last night just don't suit his game.
Get him back playing in the left with LG up top.
There are many ways to score goals, I will highlight the obv ones.
Set Pieces- we are woeful at this unless in striking distance and LG must b on the pitch.
Corners- woeful.
Going down left wing- our biggest threat (KT) .
Going down right wing - rarely score. No overlapping RB
Long Ball- non existent really
Counter attack - not bad at this but don't utilise often enough.
General play/ good moves- too ponderous as we all know and now making it hard to break teams down.
Third man running- IE Armstrong.
Now I know I not covered all areas of scoring BUT if we are to score more often then these are the areas we need to improve on.

Out of the eight we are only good at one of them, and not bad at 1 other, now its not rocket science to figure out where we are going wrong.
The more options u have at scoring the more u will score.

Ed I’m with you on the picking on players. Even the likes of Sutton is manipulating the situation. He critiqued Ntcham but not brown or even Tierney when he had a bad touch. I feel in the final third we’re missing a playmaker someone who’s going to stick in a pass to our strikers. I know our strikers should do more but I feel Rogic and McGregor are falling into the commons category of more attacking midfielder/ shadow striker role and trying to get shots off than looking at what’s in front of them.

Did Celtic get beat last night Ed?
3 points and no worries at the back was what i seen.
Team needs to get a bit slicker but how many games have we played well in europe and been pumped. Far too much doom and gloom in here for my likings.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2018 11:42:30
3 points and a clean sheet is good but rosenborg are one of the worst teams we have played in Europe in recent years.
We are really struggling going forward and anyone that refuses to acknowledge it's a problem is kidding themselves.
Rogic needs punted. Hasn't lifted a hoof since he signed his contract. Forrest, McGregor, Eduard, Sinclair and others look lost and lacking any craft.
I don't fancy us to get out of this group based on our form since start of the season.
Call me a doom and gloom merchant but its just my opinion.

21 Sep 2018 13:37:17
I see the only problem we have is braking teams down teams that camp on there side are hard to break down I get that but we need new ideas for that passing it all the way back to the goal keeper from the half way line is not the answer we don't seem to have a lot of movement off the ball that we had 2 years ago players seam to be more static probably get slated for this but that's my view on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 20:03:33
Some of our posters can only see the worse in our team. I suppose they must have interest in our club and team, but they can't be supporters, as they neither encourage or support our players or club.

21 Sep 2018 09:03:12
Watching the game last night was all too predictable again. In my opinion we need to replace Rogic with Griff and play Eddy just behind him. Tierney put a couple of great crosses in and a proper striker (like Griff) would have been on the end of them. I like eddy but he's not an out and out striker for me.

We really need to work on our corners. Winning them really lifts the crowd then either mcgregor or Ntcham floats it too high or can't beat the first man. Frustrating! Defence looks better and Tierney best player on the park. Love lustig but perhaps he needs benched and Ajer or Gamboa in instead. Hope BR sees this too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Sep 2018 10:48:11
I honestly can’t remember when we last scored directly from a corner. Every time we get one my heart rate returns to normal because we do feck all with them. Hopefully Benkovic can improve that as I thought he was excellent last night. If not then corners are a waste of time and certainly not worth getting our hopes up over. We win them mostly because our final baw is piss poor. We need to give a run to Morgan or Arzani as Forrest is back to his inconsistent best, McGreggor and Rogic are also toiling. I would drop Forrest for Morgan, bring in Griff for either of the others and try and up the tempo with someone who isn’t rubbish scared to take a player on and be able to beat them.

Sunday will be another test, Rogers needs to come up with something different, we are as predictable as Scottish weather in November. He has less options than he wanted but he needs to find a way with a depletion of class nonetheless.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 12:15:06
Magic was boyatas straight fae a corner against Hamilton?
One of the major reasons I wanted the griff to start last night is his delivery from dead ball situations.
We have guys like boyata ajer lustig and now Benkovic that can attack a corner but our delivery is dog rubbish most the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2018 08:43:36
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Griff is our main man. Others come and others go but Griff is consistent and dependable.
Not a great team performance last night (not particularly bad either but nothing special) but we got the job done. HH.
