Can someone please explain to me why only Celtic have put out a statement asking fans to enjoy game in a peaceful situation, does this not apply even more to Sevco fans.

Who cares? It should go without saying that people should behave themselves. If you need a club statement to tell you how to act then you should just give up.

21 Oct 2016 20:14:13
Statements like this cover our club if trouble is caused by any our fans.
They can say to the sfa or spfl that they tried all in powers to stop it.

21 Oct 2016 21:17:37
It probably helps if over the years you have discourage behaviour not suitable for football grounds. If a club has cheated, bullied and conned their way in the past they are in no position to tell their fans how to behave.

Celtics statement doesn't concern me as an earlier post says it's covering they're back and real fans shouldn't need to be asked to behave properly it should come naturally however being on holiday for 3 weeks so not up to speed on everything regarding the carry on at the 5-1 game but seems the police are right on top of things regardImg the hanging effigies, how are they getting on with the investigation into the thousands of pounds worth of criminal damage done to the stadium? Just curious.

Not much point sending an e-mail to Rangers supporters as most can't read .

Club has to be on record as having made all reasonable efforts to prevent fan troubles. There are (sadly we still have a few) some feckwits out there who will, especially at this type of game, crawl out from under their stones to cause trouble. Nothing to do with football, just thugs. At least the club has some mitigation when the SFA decide to apportion blame. (My personal opinion is that clubs should not be punished for the criminal actions of individuals UNLESS they are registered members of the club supporters groups. It can then be argued that they are supporters of the club and not just twats who turned up looking for an excuse to cause their own particular brand of eejitism.

So ed everyone else has had there say on the bmg game just wondering what your thoughts were?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - The better team won and I wasn't surprised at all by the result although I expected us to offer a bit more than we did. The same areas that we all know are weak let us down again, GK, CB and CM. It's OK saying with hindsight that Simunovic should have started but Toure was meant to be have been brought in to solidify the defence and that's not happened as much as I hoped, although Gordon should have done a lot better with their first goal. A GK must be our priority next summer.
With Rogic being marked out the game Bitton needed to show more urgency in there, again that never happened and they overran us in midfield thus affecting the whole attacking part of our game. We'll have learnt a lot more from Wednesday's game than we did against Barca, there's no reason why we can't aspire to play like Munchengladbach.}

21 Oct 2016 13:37:48
ED007 I agree about Biton and Rogic so how about this team for Sunday.
Gordon, Lustig/ Gamboa, Simonivic, Scepovic, Tierney,
Toure (DM) ,
Brown, Rogic,
Roberts, Dembele, Sinclair.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - On Sunday I'd go with:

------------------Gordon--------
Lustig--Simunovic---Sviatchenko-----Tierney----
-------------Brown-----Armstrong/McGregor------
Roberts-----------Rogic-----------Sinclair----
------------------Griffiths-------

I'd love to see Rodgers going with 2 up front but I can't see it happening.}

21 Oct 2016 14:26:50
I've had my tuppence worth during the live chat and post match and totally agree with that summary Ed.
We never really tested them and lacked the intensity and hunger that was shown versus City and Bitton is a constant offender who has not played a game since he got the new deal.
I give the Borussia manager a lot of credit for doing his homework and think BR maybe should have changed things sooner when he saw we were struggling against their system and pace.
I hope Griffiths and Roberts start on Sunday (along with Simunovic) as Forrest, Dembele and even Sinclair are losing sharpness.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I've said the same thing above about the changes I'd make for Sunday.}

21 Oct 2016 15:59:50
Good call ed bang on!

I am praying a gk is top priority for next season. I'm not saying gk was at fault for the result but after the opener my first reaction after it was he was megged at his near post.

I'm not taking anything away from bmg tho I genuinely thought they were quality team and deserved the 3 points. If I had to choose between bmg and city for 2nd I hope it's bmg.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'd like to see BM go through over City too but it's a big ask I think.}

21 Oct 2016 17:35:54
Agree Ed Griff n Roberts in for me, Forrest had 1 or 2 runs but was back to not tracking back, cutting inside instead of taking it wide or taking a man on. I was shouting for Roberts to come on at half time. Soon as he got on the ball he was a threat n easily went past multiple defenders, yet we still didn't supply him enough, too much passing back or sideways 4 my liking, no real urgency or pressing n yet when we actually did press them we won the ball n were on the attack. God knows why we didn't realise that n press all the time, that's how we played so well against city as everyone pressed as a team, too many didn't do it or often enough against the germans.
As for toure and Gordon, toure made two schoolboy errors n the first one clearly affected him. (I'm sure someone will find a way to blame Ambrose or Rd haha) Gordon was woeful 4 the first goal, beat at his near post n through his legs, is the keeper not meant to leave no holes at the near post n therefore the strikers forced to go across goal, guy needs replaced soon as.
A word on the fans, thought we didn't give the team enough either, the Germans were on song all game n i felt there was a lot of the old grumblings n slagging certain players, I just wish people would stick with the team through the good and bad, we still need an added bit of quality in midfield n specially a goalkeeper, n i hope Henderson gets a run of games as I think he could step up alongside brown
By the way n this is just my opinion but I thought I was seeing things at the end of the game when our fans were clapping the borrussia fans, I was perplexed as I couldn't care less what they were doing i was more annoyed that we didn't get behind the team like against city, we help make paradise a fortress along with the team. Again just my take.
Well onto Sunday, beat the newco by a few goals, n then look to get a draw in Germany, tough ask n we have to start better but also press harder n higher as u inevitably get the ball nearer to their goal there's more threat of us scoring. I'm just never one for sitting back n letting a team attack u as when we don't have the ball we can't score
Hailhail.

They hit us with such high pressure intensity from the word go we were struggling all through . I think it was amazing we held them scoreless for so long and it took a couple of mistakes for them to score . For all their pressure and excellent passing we actually created probably the two best chances but unfortunately Sinclair missed both badly . We like to set the tempo and pressurise high up the pitch but on Wednesday night they saw to it that there was no chance we could do that

I think Boroussia are the standard we should and as ed said can aspire to. If we reach that and then improve we will have a team that can enter any European game with confidence.

The 3-3 result neutered us hunger wise after the Barcelona loss, that energy given the circumstances can't be maintained by us. Speaking honestly it burnt a few wicks from both ends because we aren't used to those nights too often.
When we went a goal down I didn't see us coming back. Even before I though if you don't score first we've had it. No discredit to us but the lads we played against have to try to shut up shop against players that refuse epl wages. MGB looked organised. Annoyingly organised. I'll echo the previous posts as an armchair manager but it was glaringly obvious we didn't have a foot in the mf (sub biton) we didn't have anyone to carry the ball on the right (sub forrest) . All was done but a bit late. I don't know if we would of even created anything more with a few earlier subs. As they defended like germans. Killer of a group but it is what it is.
I emailed fifa the other day, explained fully the new re-boot I had planned . points per income with 4 points given to to the team offeset by thier circumstances at the start of the group. tv money and tier domestic system accounted for. No more rediculous than the euro draw your way to the final that got the nod.
Anyway, I've not heard back as of yet.
Not from fifa anyway. Just #marcobreed on twitter saying the system should be rolled out world wide. Never heard of the guy.

Cheers Ed appreciate the comment, I just think we have the dynamics of a good team but also it's getting into that way of playing all the time, high pressing, quick tempo n getting your good players on the ball often enough is a must.
On Wednesday we failed to do those things enough n as we all know they get punished at a higher level. Still I'm all for players n the team growing, gaining experience etc n hopefully by the summer window I would hope for a goalkeeper n a quality centre mid, if not I'd be happy to go with Henderson n brown as longer term I want to see more Scots in our lineup, home grown players are the future n no finer example than kt, credit to Rd 4 having faith to play the wee man n keep him playing well n he has continued into this season, any player wants to know what it means to play for the hoops should look at him.
As gutted as I was on Wednesday, I hate Celtic ever getting beat, I was a bit disappointed as I felt collectively more could have been done n this crowd watching nonsense n clapping them to me was frankly embarrassing, same as clapping opposition players just drives me nuts, as do those half n half scarves.
I support Celtic n the enemy is anybody we play.
Hail hail.

One thing I'd say about Rogic is that whilst he was snuffed out, I still felt like he was the one person who could hold the ball and make something happen. His pass in the first half was world class and very probably should have led to a goal. The reason I mention this is some people still question what he brings. Even when marked out the game, he got a few yards and almost created a goal from nothing.

Hail Ed my team is Celtic, couldn't care less about anybody else, players managers, fans or whatever, Celtic first Celtic last Celtic overall.
Poet, your spot on about rogic, when he got the ball n managed to get away from 2 or three of their players trying to pressure, his eye 4 a pass n runs were a real danger. As I said previously we just didn't get our good players on the ball enough, defenders r there to defend, I was a centre half, also played every other position on the park too n i was a ball playing centre back but first n foremost current. The other thing is while u can score goals with the centre half picking out a ball over the defence, George Connelly like but generally you want your forward players on the ball in the right positions high up the park n when u don't press your inevitably nearer your own goal, when we pressed on Wednesday we got the rewards in terms of being on the front foot.
Need to start more games like that n just attack teams more, the greatest form of defence after all is attack n u need to win the battles before u get the right to play.
Hail hail.

I know we have the big game Sunday but looking forward to the Christmas window if we were to say we can bring in two players who would people like to see brought in . Realistically please. I know a lot of talk is about McCarthy, I know he's probably better than biton but he never really stands out when I've watched him for Everton or Eire .

Believable1 Unbelievable1

21 Oct 2016 13:28:07
Can't see clubs realeasing players like McCarthy in January, it'll be probably be long forgotten out of favour players with tonnes of experience or youngsters not quite good enough for the English Premiership (or the top Championship teams) . It's also about what bids come in for our players like Dembele and Tierney if we go out of Europe.

I can't see us brining anyone in the January window. Think we will be more focused on releasing players but that's going to prove difficult. By January we will be ahead by 10 points so I wouldn't mind waiting till the summer transfer window when we can look to fill the spots.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2016 17:50:59
There will be no bids for either Tierney or Dembele as for a start both players have continuously said that they don't want to leave . Also it would be the height of stupidity to employ a manager of the high standard Rodgers has and allow him to build a top class back room staff and then sell the best young talent at the club .
When a player makes it known he wants out, the club will probably consider bids rather than keep an unhappy and possibly disruptive player .
Virgil, big Vic, Forrester, Hooper, Wilson and others have one thing in Common Celtic wasn't good enough for them and they wanted out.

With all the wailing and gnashing if teeth about being comprehensively beaten by the team who finished fourth in the Bundesliga.

Cast our collective minds back six months. Because we are not yet a CL force people are getting depressed about not quite being there after four months since BR came in.

To say that the expectation levels of some are a tad unrealistic, is as much of an understatement as saying getting your head chewed off by a grizzly might be a bit nippy.

We brought in players who have improved us to a point where a sevconian team beat us to us humiliating them. In four months.

January will see another couple of players straight into the team. Another step forward and improving our CL qualification chances even further.

To expect us to defeat a great German team is wishful and being depressed at finding out how far we still have to go baffling.

We are moving in the right direction. We are at a level far higher than last year. I was disappointed too but you have to accept they were just far better and they will defeat City at home. Stick that on and have pint in me.

We are getting there but we have to keep adding quality. I think BR will achieve that. January window will be interesting.

Still depressed after last night's performance. The Monch were streets ahead, their passing was flawless, I think their pass completion was as close to 100% as you'd get. They were compact without the ball and expansive with it, particularly down the flanks. We were well beaten but we are not THAT bad, we did not compete! Big Bitton is slow, he was massively exposed last night.

Rogic was also slow, he had a couple of good moments, but that was it. Those 2 should've been removed 5 mins into the second half and we should've went 4-4-2 with Griffiths up top with Dembele. There was lack of movement up top and we did not move the ball quickly enough.

Rodgers made the right changes in the end, but too late. But he got us there and it's still only early days in his tenure, so we move on. H*n scalping can lift the mood, bring on Sunday. mon the hoops! HH.
