Do people really think because the press can't tell us who Celtic are looking to sign means the board are not working on signings?

Not one bit Kev . In fact I am more annoyed when I read that Celtic are interested in such and such a player. More than likely nonsense.

History of the board does not fare well mate simple. I am heart to be convinced. Tell
You what i may be proven wrong, but a don't think we will break our transfer record, lawell has his story ready, we can't compete with the rest of Europe or epl. see it right now easy way out. Yes I do think they will buy one or two squad players, but only once they sell a few.

If memory serves me correctly, all of last years signings were very hush hush until they were in the bag.

Have to be confident Brendans being backed by the board but I don't think we'll see anyone else in before the last qualifiers at the earliest. Although could be wrong.

But reastically we aren't exactly a team in tatters. Main squad seems to be getting kept, any coming in need to be first team ready and be an improvement on who's in an already more than decent, invincible, treble winning side.

Guys, bredan always said when asked last year that they would be 2 or 3 players max brought in this summer, we have JH so far. He also said that the players had to be for the first team and bedded in during pre season. Peter Liewell is selling him short.

How'd dyu know that the transfer windows open till the end of August have some patience lad.

Pre season started this week. You'd do know that negotiations take time?

They've been back at work 3 days man, calm the beans.

Look at the mess across the city - they are salivating because Mike Ashley is only taking half their merchandise sales for the next year.

I'd have Lawwell over any of the Chief Execs in Scotland any day of the week.

I don't think the board will scrimp this summer. The team is in a good place, only quality improvements on those on their way out are needed. Much prefer this approach than panicking and splashing out like the early 2000s.

Guys, Brendan is on record saying he wants the new players in for pre season starting. it's started!

Dafabet, I thought it was Rangers fans who because they were green with envy called our CEO. MR Liewell.

With all the goodwill in the world we cannot make players sign to suit our time-scale.

Chris, tell me one thing I have said in the above posts are not true.

I agree with Dafabet, pre season started and only Hayes signed, poor stuff. Rodgers said wanted 3 quality signings in for pre season, I would of thought some homework would of been done and had them lined up a while back, hopefully I'm wrong but the usual traditions at celtic being sold short.

Airs not always a matter of true or untrue . Sometimes buying a footballer is more complicated than buying a loaf .
Surely it's more important that Brendan gets the players he wants than signing any Tom, Dick or Harry to suit u.

Number 1 target is Roberts, no question. If we don't get him it will sting but I'd rather the time and effort was put in there before we gave up and signed Januzaj or such on a big contract, with no guarantee of success.

I'd say there are 6 scenarios we are looking at this window:

1. Qualify for groups, sell Dembelé, VVD moves
2. Fail to qualify, sell Dembelé, VVD moves
3. Qualify for groups, keep Dembelé, VVD moves
4. Fail to qualify, keep Dembelé, VVD moves
5. Qualify for groups, sell Dembelé, VVD stays
6. Fail to qualify, keep Dembelé, VVD stays

We don't know the outcomes for either of these 3 situations, and I guarantee you there's planned targets for for each outcome.

We shouldn't panic unless Paddy signs elsewhere and there's no plan B.

@chris how do we know Brendan isn't missing out on players he wants? He says he wants brown and Armstrong signed up but they aren't yet. i don't want Celtic to do what we've all seen before resting on our laurels we should be pushing forward not standing still or even going backwards. If we don't voice our concerns about our lack of progress then don't go bleating if we don't reach champions league or players leave for nothing.

Agree6 Disagree1

22 Jun 2017 23:44:29
Honest mistake . You are right Roberts should be our number 1 target
However I hope the club don't put all their eggs in the Roberts basket . We need to be working on and signing other priority targets and at the same time keep letting those that matter we are interested in Roberts .
We cannot guarantee that we can sign guarantee that we will sign Roberts, sometimes a player can be out of our reach.

As far as our CL draw goes I don't know why Linfield don't ask to play the home game at the crumble dome win, win as far as I can see Servco get to listen to the CL music and will be a lot safer for all and Linfield will get the money they look for and get to play at the crumble dome.

SAFER at the crumbledome!? Lol.

21 Jun 2017 17:34:55
I get your point wyllie lol but yes I think for all concerned it would be can't see them asking or it happening but I do think it would be safer.

Agree6 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - If Linfield can't guarantee Celtic's officials and fans safety they should withdraw or be kicked out of the competition. Here's the Regs that cover it:

7.01 The clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their players, officials, members,
supporters and any person carrying out a function at a match on their behalf.

7.02 The home club (or the host association) is responsible for order and security
before, during and after the match. The home club (or the host association) may
be called to account for incidents of any kind and may be disciplined.

21.01 All matches are played according to the UEFA Match Calendar.
These dates are final and binding on all concerned, subject to the provisions
of Paragraph 22.01 to Paragraph 22.04. The following principles apply to this
competition:

a. UEFA Champions League matches are played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
with the exception of the final, which is played on a Saturday.

22.01 The venues, dates and kick-off times for matches in the three qualifying rounds are fixed by each home club and must be confirmed and communicated to the UEFA administration in writing by theirassociations by the deadline set by the UEFA administration. The UEFA administration may alter or confirm dates and kick-off times according to the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.

22.02 The UEFA administration decides on match dates and fixture reversals on a case by case basis, according to the principles set by the Club Competitions
Committee. The UEFA administration reserves the right to impose a match date in
the event of clashes between matches in this competition and other UEFA club
competition matches.}

21 Jun 2017 18:54:59
There can be a lot of genuine reasons why a fixture might have to be moved, but moving a match so a lot of bigots in bowler hats and sashes can march around intimidating people shouldn't be one of them.
Linfield should be ordered to play the match on the original date, if they can't, then as ED says they should forfeit the match.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, Gerry.}

21 Jun 2017 20:18:39
Well that's them FD lol.

{Ed007's Note - It's only a week ago that a 63-year-old Orange scumbag who had been previously convicted of gun offences was found guilty of driving his car into a group of people including a then 16-year-old girl - she was knocked down and then driven over shattering her pelvis and fracturing her ankle and collarbone - and 2 police officers during the July 12th "celebrations" two years ago. An act that should have been treated as a terrorist attack going by what's happened around the world.
Are Celtic and their supporters really expected to put their lives at risk by going over there? UEFA need to step in to this as soon as the tie is finalised if Linfield go through.}

21 Jun 2017 22:59:45
This man was released on bail prior to sentencing . No doubt to give him his big day out in July.

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed007's Note - I noticed that, Chris, that's a shocking decision considering what the judge said at the end about his sentencing and that the case was so harrowing she excused the jury from further jury service for life. Let's hope he's banged up for a long time very soon, the world will be a far better place with scumbags like that locked up.}

Hit the nail on the head Gerry. Play on the 12th or go feckn paddle in the Boyne preferably without water wings! ☘️.

23 Jun 2017 11:24:35
The venues, dates and times are fixed by the home clubs, so does that not mean it's up to Linfield when and where they play their home leg?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2017 23:27:30
True but UEFA had designated 11th and 12th for the first leg .
However the 1690 men said NO .
I would have thought game should have been played in the Aviva on either of original dates.

Morning Lads, i've seen a lot of rumours about loan players coming in, Correct me if im wrong but im sure BR said he wasnt looking to sign players on loan, I agree 100%, Unless there's a buy option, Also loving the fact that the press have no clue to who we are after so just spew mince for clickbait. Have a good day chaps.

I see a lot of media garbage about us playing Linfield on 12th July and they don't want to change the date etc. Bit insulting to the team they have to play before even contemplating coming up against us. There is always the possibility that Linfield will not make the next round and we will play La Fiorita.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

21 Jun 2017 08:10:35
They made it clear they weren't overlooking La Fiorita but these thing need to be considered in plenty of time.

Highly unlikely the team they are playing are an amateur outfit and have lost every European game they have played conceding 35 goals and scoring once, sometimes in life you just need to be realistic.

21 Jun 2017 18:43:43
Uefa will make them play on the Tuesday or Wednesday (There rules) . The tie will have sensible folk wondering why these dates are stopping the game going ahead. You don't see the reason why being written in the press.

There's been a few moaning regarding lack of signings so far. I'm happy the way CFC are going about there business with the MSM knowing nothing! There made up "Celtic Fail" for signing targets are embarrassing. there's a good few already away and a few more will be gone. Hopefully Armstrong and Brown sign new contracts (think they will) . Brendan will strengthen with a new CB, Wide player and another striker. I would like J McCarthy signed as well.

21 Jun 2017 14:41:13
I think fans are right to have a moan over 50k renewed season tickets champ league money banked and all we've seen in return so far Roberts away Armstrong/ brown into last year of contracts and rogic is unlikely to be involved at start of competitive matches so we are weaker than last year which isn't right. I'm not saying we should panic but it isn't what we should expect.

Agree1 Disagree3

21 Jun 2017 23:22:24
Jim and other moaners . Which is better we get the players our Manager wants in July or get players in now to fill up places and placate the impatient.
