Legendary scouse comic ken dodd is to retire. He can only make 100 laughs per hour now and Says he cant keep up with rangers.

Hey keep the great mans name away from this debacle. Ken Dodd screwed the taxman and was found innocent. By a Liverpool court !

Please God not blackstock, would rather big daly if that's the way we are thinking (proven goals corer in spl), but we have to show more ambition....if ki goes expect Rhodes in, the cb situation is interesting - what about big richard dunne (wages likely a problem) or st ledger...and the gk needs sorted, if Fraser hesitates anymore big Robinson would do fine for me. The Villarreal winger at 2 mill seems good deal...
I've constantly said on twitter the big target man we need is Kevin Doyle...go get him Lenny...

Doyle (1in3.2) has only got a slightly better average than blackstock (1in 3.5), hope neither sign,,,deep river bhoy

Alright guys, had to laugh there! Was on the rangers rumours site there, some idiot asking if there's anything to stop them "killing off an English team and taking there place" or buying st mirren, relocating them n using there vote, these clubs have fans, histories etc! No wonder the whole off Scottish football despises them! They should go the 3rd division, work there way back up the leagues, live within there means and gain respect! Not buy someone else's club and take there place! These people are deluded! They think they have the divine right to be successful! We went through some really hard times in the nintes and had to deal with it! There ignorance is nothing short off embarrassing! C'mon the hoops!

Dont give a monkeys what they do cos its not the rangers we knew and hated. Its a new club. Look at his history....he has none (certainly not at any decent level). Really fed up with it all, sure I'm not the only one.

been waiting on him chipping in lol

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - Did you read his statement? He didn't mince his words.}

Believable6 Unbelievable0

He certainly didnt Ed, absolutley cracking comment. There should be an award for chairman statement of the year at the SFA awards lol it would win hands down.

They are fast running out of friends, if the even had any. Celtic probably have to say no to appease the fans, Aberdeen are the same, Hibs have said no pretty much allready and Utd are leaning towards no aswell.

Did newco think they had to get 8 no votes (or alll 11 no votes depending on which number of votes they need that you believe)

An absolutley stonking bit of statement making, esp the bit about murdoch. I might print it and get it framed lol

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - Anyone speaking out against Murdoch has my 100% backing. I don't think Motherwell will vote in Rangers favour either.}}

Agree4 Disagree0

Lovely stuff!

Bankie Bhoy

Well especially now they have handed the vote to the fans. Its less likely they will vote yes.

Did you see that Kilmarnock have had an increase of season ticket sales... could this be fans changing allegiance? i have always thought Killie games are quiet cos they are all at Ibrox. Could this be the proof?

Evinguu

I have it on very good authority that Mr Lawell is absolutely raging with the other chairmen for dithering. And...wait for it...

Its time for Celtic to show Scottish football some support. For years we have been trying to get out of this league but I think we need to stay, we are Scottish and that's where we should play. Its time we give the other clubs in the league a better share of the money and better voting rights. None of us need Newco and if we get rid of them to the 3rd division then Newco will see they are the ones who need us.

Bhoy Wonder

Believable10 Unbelievable2

The current voting system stinks and favours the old firm. When the cheats were liquidated, so was the "avid lovers" arrangement called the old firm. We should be distancing ourselves from the corruption thats been endemic in the Scottish game for years, and has in a sense been perpetuated by the SPL voting system. i can understand why we did it, but lets close this book and vote for a fairer and more equal distribution of resources amongst the senior clubs. Is that not the working class way?

Bankie Bhoy

Agree2 Disagree0

Vlad's right. The chairmen should get together and start to rebuild the game in Scotland with it's own TV channel instead of Sky. It won't be easy in the short term but when the fans see the game rid of the Ibrox cancer and fairness coming in to play they will flock back. Well said Vlad!

Agree6 Disagree0

Totally agree with Vlad and the above posters..Its time to put aside rivilaries and predujices for the good of the game in this country. Give Romanov a role along with others in restructuring.improving and reinventing the game here rather than him snipeing from the sidelines? He has invested 70m in Hearts(sometimes unwisely) and will be kissing goodbye to the Lee Wallace £800,000 by voting No.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hes getting some really cuddly comments from a group currently outside football but hoping to join. They lack pr skills i think. I find it hard to disagree with much of what he says but i am no fan of his. I'd like to hear more but with a more thoughtful tone. If he has forward thinking ideas lets hear him. {Ed007's Note - Vlad doesn't like, and isn't used to, people saying no to him and not getting his own way. He could see this as a chance to take over Rangers standing in the Scottish game and filling the void. Maybe him and PL have spoke about this.........}

On the Nacho Novo thing kbarry said " Ignacio novo what goes around comes around, poor little Javier, yer dads a scumbag,.,.kbarry” so your argument is to meet one jibe with another jibe straight back? How are we all supposed to get rid of this sort of thing happening if we have people devoutly retaliating against everything?

It’s a vicious cycle. Can we not just take the moral high ground? The more it’s ignored the less they will do it! It’s all about attention.

A kid will do something to get attention whether positive or negative.

The more sectarian abuse that goes on we should ignore it (unless it gets violent then you defend yourself) the more you ignore it the less will there is in people to carry on shouting it.

Let’s stop giving the Bigots (from everywhere) the attention they seek. And just simply ignore them and their platform. Don’t get riled up, it’s what they want. Just ignore it and move on.. A long enough period of this and a lack of tit for tat retaliation amongst idiots would see it die a death once and for all surely?

Evinguu

Believable2 Unbelievable5

I disagree to an extent.Ignore it? Never. The back of the bus days are over.Highlight it,and hope the proper authorities can take swift action.I do agree with your point about sniping back though..........green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree1

Fair doos guys i see your points. And do agree. im going off on tangents today so am thinking through type and trying to look at things from different viewpoints.

However.. If we can remove the need for these idiots to spout their crap then this is a better approach to take.

The threat of police intervention is seldom a deterrant. In a lot of cases its a badge of honour. If we can remove this view that its big and clever and its getting a reaction ideology out then we have a better chance of getting results rather than through prison, asbos, injunctions banning orders or what have you. These people do not listen to threats cos thats what those are. They listen to nothing. But if they aer basically ignored from society because of their views then slowly but surley they will come round to realise that its not the right way to put your point across?

this of course is completely idealistic!

Evinguu

Agree1 Disagree0

Evinguu, one way I have found to respond to sectarianism/racism etc is to laugh at them, they cannot handle humour, or it may just be my jokes Timalloy

From Killie Chairman - "Johnston said: “I have to keep looking for solutions to problems we could face rather than worry about the negative effects that could be created by adecision which infuriates some fans.
“It would be a help if our fans bought more season tickets to compensate for what could lie ahead.
“If Rangers are at our ground on the first day of the season they will need at least 8000 tickets.
“If it’s Dundee or Dunfermline we’ll maybe sell 2000.""

Now quite simply why not lower the price for people to come see the game you might be suprised and get a few more people through the door for what will be a more competitive game than those against Rangers usually are! Lower prices does not mean lower revenue. Unless the same people turn up. But this would at least show your clubs scope to increase attendance. Surley this year more than one team has to take the plunge on trying this this year? Its about time they do. Perhaps Celtic could show the way? Parkhead looks empty sometimes even when there is 45,000 there, Lower the prices and you may end up with a few thousand more. More neutrals would start going back to games etc. Benefits outweigh the negatives here but still it needs properly tested. Its done very occasionally. They hailed their Friday night experiment at motherwell a success ... well no it was only a success mainly because the price was dropped.

Please all of the SPL drop your prices! if you are worried about newcos cash disappearing then give an incentive to encourage people to turn up! I suspect that no rangers will mean higher gates cos clubs are scared to lose revenue.. but by taking this stance they will shoot themselves in the foot!

Cmon someone in the SPL take a risk! it might be worth it!

Evinguu

Believable1 Unbelievable0

All a statement like this does is prove the lack of business acumen in Scotlands boardrooms. For any business to be so dependant on a variable like attendances is at best reckless and at worse stupid.Surely they should be basing their business model on More secure revenue streams? Wages are the big expense in football, does anybody really think any Killie player is worth over 40k per year? These teams need to start playing young players on decent contracts based on win bonus.Sponsorship and corporate are things that need to be developed leaving gate money and TV deals as cream.......green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

The prices to watch football in Scotland's top league is far too high in relation to the product on view. Unfortunately if we lower the ticket price at Celtic Park we will lose our top earner's and will not attract the quality to improve our squad and recapture a decent European reputation. We already have over 50,000 season ticket holders and it would not be seen as credible business practice to tamper with a guaranteed income.
However we could do more for school age concessions and Cup competition prices. The remaining SPL clubs could experiment with further ticket reductions/concession for school children and senior citizens in an attempt to boost attendances, generate fresh local support and revive dormant fans.

Jungle Jim

Agree1 Disagree0

If you offset the cost enough the chances of clubs getting less money is diminished. But is purely based on lower prices working and getting a few thousand more in through the doors each week than they would with higher prices.

When you buy a season ticket you are already paying less than what you would at the gate anyways, so there is scope to reduce the amount it costs to a punter at the gate. it does kindof detract from the benefit of getting a season ticket, But there is room to work this and make more than they do. It should definatley be a consideration.

green Jhedi. fair point that it should not be the be all and end all of a business model in the modern era. And clubs up here rely far too heavily on the season tickets especially.

However with lowering sponsorship figures. A woefully small TV contract and limited ways of seeking further financial input due to the proximity of England, it has to pla a significant role. If we can get the matchday experience right for all first. We can then move on to fixing the other problems later.

In my humble opinion of course :)

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

Evinguu, you have been busy today, girlfriend not speaking to you ha ha
but your points on reducing costs are well made but clubs have to reduce ALL the match costs, ie transport, entry, food and drink inside stadiums.
If clubs want to attract more fans then all this must be addressed, how? clubs should look at local bus companies try and get a deal then bus fans to ground, fans pay less than public transport but club make small profit also. Work out cost of ticket for say 5000 crowd then add food and a drink in ticket price, surely this is not beyond the wit of club financers, make match day a more enjoyable experience and fans will come and come back. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

The clubs themselves need to have a look at cost cutting.Every SPL team takes anything up to forty people to a hotel the night before a game. Why? Dubdee utd for example,a guy i know told me they overnight for games against St Johnstone and aberdeen and inverness! Why? Can these wee pampered poodles not spend two hours on a luxury coach? I bet you would be amazed at the costs run up on this expense...........green jhedi

A headline writers dream, eh Ed?.............
"RANGERS BURY BURY!"
They would have to physically up-sticks and play their home games in England, and kill an English team in the process! Typically, the other side are getting all 'Sally McCoist' at the thought!
It will NEVER be allowed to happen. We have more chance of getting to England - and that will never happen either - great headline though!................kbt1978

can the zombies really buy bury as a move in to english league?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

No, uefa don't allow it, the english league won't allow it, and before people mention cardiff and swansea, they were in the english league before wales had football leagues. johnbhoy79

I used to do business with bury fc when the neville brothers dad was chairman.
