Well i like the thinking beheind our proposed developments, think there's more to come too, remember seeing larger scale ideas for the triangle in the past with more shops and restaurants etc planned.

Just hope they don't go with really cheesy names for things and insist on Celtic/ football themed rnames for everything or even renames for existing chains (they will though)

Hoopy The Huddlehounds bar and grill
Brendans Bistro
Delias Discotheque
Bobo's hard play area (need something for the kids)
Mind the 'Gap'
Scotty 'McDonalds'
Henrik the 'Burger King'
Lawells crazy paving golf (heated of course)
Boots

So anyone here got any good ideas for names of the proposed hotel, suites or other things we may add in the future? Im sure you will and they will be funnier and better than mine.

Bar - Jock's Steins
Museum - The Loovens
Fraser Quasar
Hartson's all-you-can-eat Buffet
10 (in a row) pin bowling
Naylor's Nails (for the women)
Perhaps a male grooming salon just called Naka's
Struggling here, hows about instead of The Four Seasons we keep adjusting the hotel accordingly to how many we've gone on the trot as champs.

Saw a funny one online today as a suggestion for the hotel name - The RAdisson. Alternatively, as I don't think that would be a goer somehow, my favourite name suggestion so far is Hotel Paradiso. Any favourites or suggestions?

Frankie Bhoy and Lenny's.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd simply call it The Kerins from Brother Walfrid's real name. Sounds quite classy imo and still Celtic related. If we're going to get the best out of it we don't want it called something too tacky or commercialised.
Even the origin of the name would be a good way of getting every person that stays there reading something about Brother Walfrid and why/how the Club were founded.}

22 Feb 2017 15:42:44
So you don't fancy Club TropiDiCanio's Ed. The other lot could always have Hotel Cantafordia.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They're planning to put bunk beds in a hut and promote it as The World's Most Successful Youth Hostel. Are you old enough to remember Auf Wiedersehen, Pet?}

22 Feb 2017 16:04:48
A bit before my time Ed I'd have been watching Dungeons and Dragons or Centurions. Totally agree with what you are saying hope the name has a touch of class to it, something historical.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Dungeons and Dragons is THE best cartoon ever made from back in those days, closely followed by Dogtanian. Only The Simpsons and Family Guy are better.}

22 Feb 2017 16:25:21
Dogtanian was a classic. character in that reminds me of Snoop Dog. Still scratching the head at that Moomins what were they all about.

STAN your playing a blinder 'Frankie Bhoys and Lennys' and 'Hotel Cantafordio' are crackers. What about 'The Moanashelick Hotel' 👍😂🍀.

I've only just managed to have a look at the plans for the museum etc. and it looks fantastic. You have to say fair play to Pedro for this because he's always said the money brought in gets invested back into the "club" as well as the "team" and this is the kind of thing I'm sure he meant. We're starting to see it happen on both fronts now.

How good does that look Kev, think of all the business that would get from fans around the world and here in sconny botland! The Emirates arena would furnish it with bookings too, a no brainer if you ask me. Hopefully we can see it through to the end, I really like the way our club is heading so hats off to the board, we really are in great hands just now.

without being a misery, still to get the planning ok.
Mind you, maybe the Glasgow Council planning dept will be too busy defending allegations to block this.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I doubt the Club would have made any official announcement if they weren't confident of getting the permission. Nobody seems to know how far down the line the application is, it could be miles away or it could be at the crossing the T's and dotting the i's stage and that's why the Club have made it known.}

21 Feb 2017 22:35:41
i don't want to see money spent on a hotel, what's that got to do with celtic? a hotel that will stay empty for most of the year, i see it being a huge white elephant, i would rather see the money splashed on the team, i don't want a fantastic hotel, i want a fantastic TEAM.

Agree12 Disagree5

21 Feb 2017 22:51:24
Re if its been approved or not, I think there's an element of release the plan, hope enough folk go 'oohh that's great' to put extra pressure on planning dept to accept?

jamesbhoy i see your point however with the emirates accross the road and the possibility of more regeneration to come in the area i think it makes some sense. Without going on, there's loads of things they could add in the future, an away game / classic game cinema in with the museum etc, lots of ways to increase revenues after the initial outlay of course.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Feb 2017 23:30:22
the emirates has one or two big events a year, not enough to sustain a huge hotel.

Agree10 Disagree0

21 Feb 2017 22:50:43
james i reckon you're missing the trick altogether. If it's built that hotel will be full 95% of the time. HH.

Its not just about the big events though. And i doubt its going to be huge.

That place is becoming the hub for scottish cycling, folk travel from all over to use it. It creates another venue for corporate events at CP, the hotel and the emirates. Also could help attract other big events to the venues like gigs etc more frequently. During the summer when rooms are usually at a premium in the center of town, it could fill a gap, the list goes on, esp with other develpment in the triangle having been mentioned in the past which if this gets the go ahead might begin to happen like shopping, restaurants and improved travel links.

There is a gamble involved i agree. There would be a few hotel chains interested in getting involved there too though especially because of the proximity to the 2 venues. I don't think Celtic would be pushing ahead with this without other guarantees for other development in the area.

That all said, you could be right and we piss money away on a big shiny metal block instead of another moussa, but i for one thing it is a good idea and has many ways of increasing revenues for the club beyond just being a simple Hotel.

@jamesbhoy Celtic have a large support from England/ Ireland who stay in city centre hotels who could fill it on match weekends and foreign clubs supporters on euro nights. This is a great idea which should be applauded as we have to raise revenue streams over a longer period from other sources as playing in Scotland limits income and Europe will only get harder with the big nations closing ranks.

Agree0 Disagree6

22 Feb 2017 09:33:42
If they keep the prices reasonable then a lot of people will use it like they use Premiere Inn etc.
Run some complimentary buses to Rail and air links like they do in many countries and you have a edge.
I think it is a good investment.

Agree0 Disagree4

22 Feb 2017 10:07:58
@jamesbhoy67, they wouldn't be proposing it if they didn't think it would make the club money. Celtic would get a cut of the hotel money and the museum would bring in plenty I'm sure. More revenue means a better chance of improvement on the park.

If it was priced reasonably it would be ma first choice for a cheeky wee durty weekend wae the Mrs. 😉.

22 Feb 2017 13:53:17
Haha I think my Mrs would be less than impressed if I suggested a night away and took her to Celtic Park. Even a walk up to the Anchor for an aperitif before dinner wouldn't satisfy her. Women eh?

i've got friends who come over from ireland to watch the games and they struggle to pay for their season ticket, coach and the ferry nevermind a posh hotel, with a lot of games on sundays too they are straight home for work in the morning, no working class fan will be able to afford a posh hotel, all this crap is aimed at the corporate fans, the working class fans are the core of our support but celtic are moving away from them season by season, if they want to spend money the should raise the front of the main stand and bring the stadium the same size all the way round and do away with that embarrassing red brick frontage built for centenary season and that joke of a main stand.

22 Feb 2017 21:59:11
If you. Yield they will come 😂, these guys aren't going to go into this with their eyes closed, and I might sure they would have taken this decision lightly. The building of this, and if successful (don't forget the number of weddings) would put us light years ahead of not just Scotland, but majority of EPL, and the future looks very Rosie.

Ed been speaking to a few Killie fans and they've been raving about him, saying that we must have some team if he's not playing. They also think that centre midfield would be his best position but I'll leave that to Mr Rodgers me thinks.

For some reason I can't reply to your post ed so just writing a new post. I saw that about the new stuff they're hoping to build. When I was at the man city game I thought the area surrounding the stadium was impressive. Lots going on and stuff for kids. Would be good to get something like that. The area around the stadium is already massively improved. Looks good for any visiting fans.

{Ed007's Note - Is anyone else having problems replying to posts? If so use the Contact Us form and it'll go straight to Ed033 and he'll have a look.
The whole area around the stadium is looking great and this new addition is only going to help further regenerate the area.}

Celtic have today posted a multi million pound planning application to upgrade the area around Parkhead, the new facilities will include a new hotel, a museum, upgraded ticket office and much more.
A Celtic spokeperson said " we are always striving to upgrade the facilities for our fans and to improve the parkhead environment for the residents who live there. "
Meanwhile over at Ibrox a Sevco spokesperson said "we are asking for volunteers to drain the puddles outside Ibrox and to cut back on all the weeds on the spare ground adjacent to the park, we aim to give our loyal fans a nicer experience as well as helping the locals avoid the puddles".

Two comments to post today
1 since Saturday i have read and heard excuses, as to why the ref did not send off Bowman; for the tackle on young Tierney.
None of which really stand close examination. It was a horror challenge and Tierney's reaction alone told you it was a really bad tackle. He has never faked a tackle in all his time in the green and white. He and I thought he was going to spend more time in crutches as he lay on the ground. Excuses like Bowman got the ball, No celtic player reacted or the ref was not in a good position are all crass it was a straight red.

2 this is going to get me slated but i have to say it. I have been mildly impressed listening to B Ferguson on radio Scotland recently. He was definately a pratt in previous times but since going to Clyde he seems to have grown up lost the privledges of mollycoddled professional footballer and understood the troubles of a working supporter and part time player. He has not been promoting serco nor demeaning Celtic. Therei have said now start shooting me down.

I'll happily shoot you down jonace, for point 1 and not point 2. Even BR said he didn't think the player went for KT. He blamed it on the pitch. Yes, contact was made and it could have ended badly but let's be thankful it didn't.
As for point 2, I have no opinion on Ferguson. HH.
