Great performance tonight throughout the team. I'd say Rodgers has a real dilemma as to who to play on Saturday as so many are staking real claims. I can't wait!
By the way, what a superb put down by Chris Sutton to Ally McCoist at the end of the programme tonight. I nearly choked laughing.

Missed the game andy
What was said?

Basically, the panel were asked what formation Rodgers would go for at the back on Saturday. McCoist said that you can't play three at the back if you are playing in Europe or against the good teams. He then said that Rangers are one of the better teams, so he would have to go with four. To which big Chris replied "I think Brendan will be thinking whatever formation he plays they are going to win". But it wasn't just the retort - it was the utter contempt with which he looked at fat Sally. I thought it was hilarious!

not that I am particularly bothered - but why was mcmoist commentating on the game last night.

I get he is there at the end to give his pearls of wisdom - but why commentate throughout the game? He didn't offer anything and wasn't offensive - but I thought the unwritten rule was exhun for ragers games and extim for celtic games.

Can you imagine if Sutton was commentating of the ragers game the night before.

he is actually quite funny, his comments are after something has happened - like if he had been half a yard early - to sound like he is all knowing. funny.

Cheers andy
I can picture the 'content' on sutty's coupon. Unable to hide it. A thing of beauty!
Big chris will be hoping for another record defeat so he can revisit his 'best squad' debate with Pedro.
Craig Gordon better not slip up or he'll be in line for the Sutton wrath.

Digbanger- fat sal is trying to rebuild his media career so we may be seeing a bit more of him. He knocked back madrid in the summer so he must be serious about his pundit work again :)

I absolutely creased myself as it was the very last comment before they ended the show and Sutton does his trademark grin towards the camera at the end knowing full well that any Gers fans are probably spitting venom at their TVs. got to love the big man!

Hi Ed, Just seen the annual results have been released. Can you help me make sense of it as I'm terrible with that kind of thing. £90.6m in group revenue and with all the other income we only made £6.9m profit? Is that even good? So if we failed to qualify for the group stages we'd be making a loss?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Jamie's your man for this. Now we've got him I don't need to hurt my brain trying to understand it all :)

20 Sep 2017 22:09:45
Yes it is all good bt share price going in the right direction mate

For me, It's never too good to make such a massive profit even as big as that because bt you are taxed ON your profits mate am surprised at that profit it's certainly well UP on last year and really shows we could have spent a bit more

The club unlike most others has never been in a healthier fiscal position I felt this would happen and indicated to anyone interested they should invest in shares of the club and the share price has jumped 30 % since then

Once the hotel goes up that 180 bedroom hotel will only add to value in my opinion there is nearly £100 million in difference between us and Sevco in value bt now that is what I call a gap mate (y)

20 Sep 2017 22:13:39
Think this is why accountants were invented, revenue was £90.6 million, expenses are £76.3 million, so the difference is £14.3 million, but the profit before tax is £6.9million, but then the debt to the bank is £ 17.9 million, so that has to be serviced, so that is whatever, but is that not in the expenses?, don't ask me, I am not an accountant, I am a nosy bastard.

Thanks for explaining it, Thought that didn't seem too much money for how well we've been doing. Be interesting to see the other lots figures no doubt operating at huge losses fielding a team they can't afford to keep pace with us. It is good to know we can be comfortable with the squad we have and still make profit if only everyone followed suit.

jamie: the one question about our financial results I have is this:
Our Operating expenses increased by 33.3% to £76.3m: That to me is a bit concerning. Now is that players/ managers wages or just overall cost: if that's the case and we don't make it into the group stages of the CL then we are down a lot of money which will impact on our operation/ Profit/ loss:?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Sep 2017 15:59:52
Peter mate, no getting away from the fact BR is on a much bigger wage than RD but you will have player / staff bonuses for reaching the CL plus matchday costs, travel, hotels etc.

Having made the CL we are up circa 75% n turnover mate but profits are up by my reckoning £1,150 % that is stupid IMO our accounts run to the end of June our last profit was £600k mate but TEN days later Ncham arrives through the door that was daft IMO because our profits are subject to TAX! Make a profit by all manner of means but not that at that level I cannot see DD being happy at that PROFIT margin mate for that reason UNLESS he is thinking of moving on and showing any incomers we make that kid of profit ;-/

If we don't make CL we just cut our cloth accordingly and to be fair they have that down to a fine art mate IMO alneit sometimes it is at the expense of the product on the park (Y) Enjoy Portugal BTW.

Good expected result, hope we get the weakest of the four in the semis draw, but it'll obviously be drawn at the asbestos dome rather than paradice 🙌🍀.

20 Sep 2017 22:04:16
Off course it is totally blanked that lol, but I'd still prefer to trash the Sevco in the semis rather than give them the privilege to be finalists.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Sep 2017 07:55:13
Whoever we get in the semi i expect to beat them
But the rangers will be very lucky to make final if the draw is between us Aberdeen hibs and them.

Agree1 Disagree2

21 Sep 2017 11:20:23
The only way Hibs or The Sheep will lose to sevco is if they bottle it.

If Pedro gets to the final, that might make them keep him even if we do thrash them. Purely down to the Three Bears rapidly running out of soft loan potential to pay Caravan of Love off.

Although I would rather they went out at semi as they they lose out on money. So, if that requires us to do it then bring it on, but either of the others can take them. Bottles remaining intact obviously a must.

One of my Celtic buddies emailed a copy of a trashy newspaper and it's headline "Celtic's euro foes in Turmoil" he was ecstatic and wanted me to be ecstatic too as, in his eyes, the Anderlecht game is now a "bye" a "certain" 3 points.
But I am too long in the tooth to believe all this nonsense, no Anderlecht and their caretaker boss will give us a difficult game next Wednesday, so I urge all Celtic fans not to get too over confident about our CL chances, after all it IS Celtic we are talking about and we never do anything easy in europe. Give the papers a miss.

Gordon

Jozo
Boyata
Tierney

Roberts
Armstrong
Ntcham
McGregor
Sinclair

Griffiths
Demebele

Doutb it tho! Think Hayes could start he played his best game so far at the weekend. Also it would be hard to drop Forrest after scoring 2 unless he has been told he is starting at Ibrox. Jozo could be rested as well and have Bitton at CB.

Am I right in thinking that most teams get a boost when the dump a manager, statistically speaking? Or is that something that takes effect on a new appointment? They'll be tough, for sure.

Talking down our opponents so if we fail to do a job over in Amderlecht it is a opportunity to slag Rogers and Celtic.

20 Sep 2017 22:02:52
yep

we should be taking points from Anderlecht - not PSG, Not Munich - but we should be good enough for Anderlecht - or we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Its nothing to do with them and their managerial situation, by now, with the team and manager we have, we should at least get a draw there, a win here and go thru to Europa (at least)

Happy Birthday to the King of Kings 46 years young today. Endless memories from his time at CP. Not the best goal he scored for us but for me the one of most importance was the 1st against St Johnstone to stop 10 in a row. Never felt nerves like it until Harold got number 2. The one and only time being on the hallowed turf. What a weekend that was. Outside the ground afterwards seeing the joy on everyones faces, every car on every street with flags out the windows and the Celtic songs on full volume. Great times and great memories and what a contribution by the greatest striker to have set foot on Scottish Soil. Enjoy your day No 7.

We certainly have a few gems in the current side and as it is a lot younger than the 2004 team - will improve and mature if it can be kept together, into one of the 'greats' - especially if they achieve the ten-in-row and more?
However, although the 2004 side never attained the 'invincible' status, they were full of class internationals and a great team spirit and they certainly never got absolutely hammered by the cream of Europe at that time.

Agree2 Disagree1

20 Sep 2017 12:32:25
They were a lot closer to the cream of Europe at the time as well though OaB.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Sep 2017 21:42:21
Spot on once a boy they never got hammered but also back then european teams were all about home talent with a few superstars now they spend crazy money for they superstars just to fill there bench so it makes it much harder plus they (psg) only scored one more goal than they did Barcelona last year aye they lost in the return leg but that was down ti neymar (fud) so they bought him for 200m.
