RD making very valid point regarding "B" teams, I think this is where we are missing out in terms of bringing through very promising youth, thoughts?

Of course it is a good idea, but it doesn't suit the Govan mob so it won't happen .

It's not something that hasn't been said before and it isn't the govan mob that don't want it, it's the east Stirling and Queen's Park etc.

It has been raised before as it was an ideal way to keep together and develope young potential - and like the old reserve league it also gave fringe and unfit players the chance to get up to scratch.
Whatever reason it was scrapped, it has led to more players being loaned out and some never come back.

What is good for the Govan mob is good for Scottish Football.
Jim1972., if you know of any initiative that didn't use that guide line, I would be delighted to know .
Too early for u too remember but the league had its number of top flight clubs reduced at the behest of the Govan mob and they would increase it soon, if they thought the mob could survive .

Hi ED heard today that Celtic have plans to increase stadium to 80000 soon. I know we have the structure in place to do this but for the life of me can't see this happening the now.
You heard anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - I heard about this the other day but I've no idea where it came from, I'm with you and just can't see why they would do it.}

20 Nov 2015 20:53:39
I knew a previous chief exec if the club and was told that the plan was to extend to 80,000 but only if we got into the English premiership, south stand would be rebuilt to two tiers so don't see it happening anytime soon!

20 Nov 2015 21:19:15
That's been going around for years, they actually have plans drawn up, from as far back to when Barnes was manager.

Maybe they know something is going to happen soon. Sevco are Doomed, SFA are imploding uefa are under pressure, fifa in meltdown. It may be that a lot of change is afoot and plans are moving forward now. EPL or Euro league. who knows, but i do know there's no need to do if things weren't to change.

It might be the case that a new south stand would allow upgrades of changing rooms, hospitality, hotel, museum, etc etc.

How's it going ed? No posted in a wee while! dyu think Nesbit will be out on loan in January? The boy needs to play at a higher level than u20's maybe hibs to help them with promotion and wilth Henderson there in the MF he would settle in well.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's all good here thanks and nice to see you back. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nesbitt go out on loan but I think it might be next summer rather than January, I'm hoping to see him get a few games under his belt as the season goes on.}

21 Nov 2015 13:00:43
He seems to be getting a lot of hype and from what Iv seen u can kinda understand but think we need to hold off on the pressure of being our next big thing! What about the young Bhoy who won the best player in the world for his age a wee while ago is he progressing?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Aidan Nesbitt is already a better player than Scott Allan and I'm a great believer that if you're good enough you're old enough, the only way you can find out if your young players are going to make it is to see them in games.
Calvin Miller is the young player you're talking about, he seems to be progressing well and could be another player who might benefit from a loan spell.}

Going to Newcastle tonight for one of the girls friends wedding tomorrow, so I won't be on over the weekend, so putting my footie bets on tonight.
Big game in Spain tomorrow is the El Clasico Real-Barca and my bets are a combination.
Ronaldo (anytime goal) and over 2.5 goals is 11/8, add on BTTS 13/8
Real to hit woodwork 13/8
Barca hit woodwork 7/4
Over 2.5 goals/BTTS 4/6, 3.5 11/8
Ronaldo to score in 90 mins 5/6
Suarez 6/5, Neymar 11/8
Sending off 11/10 only, these games are usually quite fiesty
Penalty is 9/4 but I think there may be more than 1 penalty 5/1
I have put all these on but you guys can "pick and mix" whatever bet you fancy or tell us your bets.

I believe Peter Lawell should only trigger a bonus if we make the CL.

Thoughts?

Would be an interesting clause if it could be inserted! If he eventually gets offered a move up to a bigger position in UEFA, then it has to be something we look at in the next chief executives contract. We have missed out on millions for doing things on a shoestring. As it stands Pl can easily coast along as long as he makes a profit.

20 Nov 2015 14:35:48
As much as I don't like him you need to be honest and say that he is very good at his job.

Saying that I do think he is overpaid when you take account of the money he gets from preference shares, bonuses and actual wage (around 1M total) . Some of the chairmen in the EPL do not even get as much as that. I think Swansea and Sudnerland are on about 200k each.

20 Nov 2015 16:25:25
I don't think winning the league is enough. Failing in Europe is an indication of bad planning and minimal investment. Bad buys, and they are legion, reduces further our capacity to progress.

On these counts Lawell has failed., no other way to describe it.

CL qualification a minimum bar fir a chief executive in a league minus our friends across the city.

I think we should employ our Football manager and his coaches and make them
solely responsible for bringing football success to Celtic football club .
We should be trying to reduce Peter Lawwell's input on football matters as he is neither trained nor an acknowledged expert on football and football players .

Just seeing some interviews to be played at AGM online.
What caught my attention was the following.
Living Wage. No, but most permanent employees on £7.85 but LOSE their bonuses
Ian Bankier on Ronnie. he has done well domestically, but underachieved in europe (good they noticed that)
on Player investment. all profits made are invested back in team (really show the fans where)
Lawwell on Ronnie. a young manager who needs time, some disappoiting results in europe (no, your'e kidding, really? )
on Player investment. same as Bankier all monies made reinvested, all us fans must be missing all these great players coming in.
I smell Rafael Schite.

So we can expect to see £12-13m put into the side in january then. Because that's how much we made/saved over the summer with transfers.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Nov 2015 16:51:22
Wish that was true Jim but sadly we all know that is not going to happen Saying that not in any way defending the board but they will say that is an overall figure cost of all wages overall running and maintenance travel to and from grounds and all other expenses to the amount that the club brings in gate money sail ofplayers and other money the club brings in subtsubtract one from the other and that is the money we have to spend on players.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2015 17:06:40
Not necessary Jim Tim, the club can spend considerably less than £10m and still be correct that all the money they receive on transfers are invested back in team . It is highly possible that all other money Celtic receive in the season doesn't cover the club's expenses and so some of the £10 m goes on existing wages and some on new players and their wages .

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Nov 2015 18:15:14
Where does 10m come from? Doubt any transfer is fully paid up front?

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Nov 2015 18:23:22
In many cases the actual figure quoted on a transfer is not paid as a lump sum. So arguably they do spend what actually comes in on the day but the additional payments to achieve the agreed sum do not get invested (does that make sense? )

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2015 19:00:02
Oh so that's their trick! Agree 13m for Virgil. But we'll have a fiver now, the rest in installments. That way we can say that all transfer fees are reinvested. How silly of me.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2015 20:35:29
Jim Tim the way it works is this. Let's say we agree £10m to sell a player. He gets a contract over 4 years. We agree a deal maybe at £2.5 mill a year back to us to cover the £10mill. In the accounts however we take that £10 mill as being paid even though we have only received £2.5 mill. Same when we buy. We agree say £2mill but maybe pay it over 2 years. We won't be able to write that £2 mill off as the player is an asset so he sits on the books at £2mill till he is sold and he generates a profit or a loss. If Celtic don't sell players then we generate losses so there is no £12 mill lump of cash from VVD sitting there to be reinvested.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Nov 2015 04:17:50
I get how it works. Still doesn't mean enough is reinvested. Can we not just assume we'll be getting that 13m and go out and spend it?
