Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

20 Jun 2016 22:15:33
We say this every year about the so called "random" computer generated fixtures, yet EVERY year for the past 7 years or so Celtic are always drawn away to Inverness, Ross County and an added "bonus" away trip to Aberdeen around our european fixtures.
Inverness away 16/ 9/ 2016, Ross County 26/ 10/ 2016 and Aberdeen 29/ 10/ 2016.
As a punter if these odds came up on my horses I would be a trillionaire.

Tim

That is assuming we qualify for Europe!

If we make a decent investment in the squad over the next 2 months the SPFL games shouldn't be a problem as we should have enough quality to come in if guys need a rest after pumping Barca, Juventus or PSG on a Wednesday!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 12:34:54
I was looking at that as well and remember as far back as MON's team, the trips to Inverness or similar distance were always scheduled between European games.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So we're getting the excuses ready early in case we flop in Europe again. Manchester to Southampton is 242 miles, London to Sunderland is 270 miles, even Paris to Bordeaux is 364 miles. And there's loads more fixtures around Europe where clubs travel further without complaining..
Glasggow to Inverness is 170 miles and it's a problem? No other clubs fans ever moan about this nonsense about travelling - it's hardly crossing the USA going up a motorway for 3 hours is it?}

21 Jun 2016 14:19:37
It's the sort of thing Mourinho or Alex Ferguson would moan about, they always like to feel that their clubs are picked on.
I think it just gives players an excuse not to perform, if they want to play enough then it shouldn't be a problem for them.
The Lisbon lions had many trips to far flung places in Europe, they didn't have the luxury travel that teams have nowadays, yet they returned from these trips and would often have an away match on the Saturday, they seemed to cope with it okay and didn't complain.

Ed 007, please excuse me but you seem to have got very negative over the past few days . Cheer up 52, 000 people are eagerly looking forward to the new season . Come on don't be in the minority, if things work out well, we want you to be able to rejoice with us .
All the best Ed007.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's not negative, it's being realistic, there's no evidence so far that this season will be better than we've had recently and appointing Rodgers doesn't fill me with any long term confidence so I'll wait and see if we get our money's worth but I doubt we will, Liverpool are still trying to fix his mess. If he ignores our youth set up and treats young players here the way he has in the past we'll be in a bigger mess than when MON leaves. Too many fans are jumping for joy at the appointment without knowing how he works and they could be in for a rude awakening.
Not to worry though, Brendan has made sweeping changes by demanding all the cones and flags at training are the same colour - and to think our previous manager was slaughtered for wanting to change players diet.}

23 Jun 2016 01:19:59
Sorry Ed, but I have to say the whole problem is u are not waiting to see.
Season Ticket sales went through the roof, Celtic fans for the first time in over a decade have a feel good feeling . I am sorry to say u come across as trying to dampen it before a ball is kicked .
Ok you have your reservations about B Rodgers and you may well be right .
Surely us normal 5/ 8 fans are entitled to have our dreams every decade or so. If B R doesn't make it we will all know soon enough and our dreams will be over quick enough .
Please don't spoil it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Chris I've told you before about trying to tell people what they can and can't say on here, that decision isn't yours whether it's me or another poster like you have just tried on another post tonight. People are allowed a different opinion, Chris, I know you don't like that but that's life.
You say I'm not waiting to see but neither are you, and not one person is using anything about football to back Rodgers, instead of trying to argue with me why not tell me what Rodgers has done to warrant such blind loyalty when we laugh at our noisy neighbours for doing the exact same? And I don't have a problem, whole or otherwise.
You're saying that Liverpool were wrong to sack Rodgers, players were wrong about the way he treated them and insiders and suporters at the club don't know what they're talking about all because Celtic have appointed him. I'll take the word of people who know over the tubthumpers on here thanks. I'll trust the person that close to Rodgers they told me the job was his if he wanted it. You're saying all those people are wrong because you don't agree with them?
As you're at the level of supporter we all aspire to be are you happy that Charlie Mulgrew is getting a reported THREE year deal? Is that a decision you agree with? Do you think having cones and flags all the same colour in training will help improve our players?
Instead of just telling me I'm wrong to raise concerns maybe try telling me why I'm wrong.I'd expect a more realistic outlook from someone of your vintage, Chris.}

23 Jun 2016 18:50:57
Ed007 can I give a different opinion .
My opinion is that the Celtic fans as a group have been excited by B Rodgers appointment . As I have already posted Rodgers may or may not be a great manager for us . Let the Celtic fans decide whether they like him or not .
It doesn't matter how bad a manager he has been . Us Celtic only interested in what he is with us .
Of course that is my opinion and we have had and probably will again have yours.
Thanks again for bearing with me and I hope u appreciate my opinion which I never thinks trumps anyone else's opinion.

As like most of you I saw clips of the team getting put through their paces today . In the background of one of the clips I'm sure I noticed James Forrest dodging some jumps but I thought he was out of contract with us. Does he still have time left on his contract as I was hoping he would be another for the chop?

20 Jun 2016 22:08:44
Noticed the same thing bud! Hope he's bloody off ASAP! Him and ambrose can share the same taxi!

20 Jun 2016 22:14:24
Is his contract not up in January and that's why he was free to talk to other clubs now?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 22:50:13
Think kevbhoy right. Strange one that it is up in January though

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 07:26:58
Mulgrew And Forrest have been asked to come back and train this week from what I was told Mulgrew refused as if he got injured he wasn't insured or wouldn't get paid. Not seen the training clips so not sure how true this is.

21 Jun 2016 09:23:04
James forest is contracted till December or January, he was free to talk to clubs in the summer. When contract talks were broken off this info was said at the time.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 15:59:11
Aye campsie bhoy kennedy said to the media that mulgrew wasnt there because he's not contracted to celtic now but he said mulgrew is still in talks with celtic over a new deal. I don't think he'd be that great a loss if he didn't come back.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2016 18:54:25
I agree Jamesbhoy 67
IMO if Mulgrew stays I would think the team was weaker with him starting . Maybe useful on bench as he can cover a few positions but he doesn't seem to have got back to the form of his first season.

20 Jun 2016 19:31:37
Ed, is there any interest in Harry Souttar from Dundee United?
I posted last season that we were apparently keeping an eye on him and see Stoke had a £250k offer rejected
I know it's not a pressing signing but worth a punt n loaned back to Utd?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of, Stevo.}

22 Jun 2016 00:38:19
I don't think we can afford to buy people and then loan them back . That's fine for EPL teams who can't get their money spent quick enough . We shouldn't be using R D and N. L scatter gun approach . If we want Soutter or the young striker from Drumbarton fine, that's ok and if they are not yet 1st team material, train and develop them for under age teams and hopefully eventually the ist team squad.

ED007 whare are your thoughts on the Resolution 12 issue? How far do you think the board will get involved, think they held talks with fans groups but stopped short of engaging with UEFA. If the club wished they could certainly put the wind up the SFA.
Was talking to an old friend of mine who knew the late Paul McBride QC, and he was of the opinion this kind of issue would have been right up Paul's street and he would have had the SFA tied up in legal issues for years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - UEFA have came out and said they won't be investigating it because Rangers are in liquidation. The board were never that keen to push it and it looks like some fans have had a hand in feeding the rest of us BS and propaganda for the last couple of years, it's amazing what people will do of they think they're important enough to share tea and biscuits with Lawwell, I've never paid much attention the the CQN clique.
Season ticket sales have proven Lawwell to be right in keeping quiet about it, Haven't you heard - we've got Brendan Rodgers and everything in the garden is rosy? The fix is in and worked a treat.}

20 Jun 2016 18:29:48
The problem with u young ones, many of you never learned the facts of life in Scottish Football . The main facts are that Rangers never do wrong and if they should err the SFA will cover up for them . UEFA like SFA are always up to their armpits in bull shoite and don't want to be involved in further controversary .

aye i realise that tony2bhoy my point was surely the bank will give them leeway 2 spend on the strength of the ST money being guaranteed.

20 Jun 2016 14:08:16
does anyone know the interest lawwell and co are making a week on the £25m the fans gave them for season tickets? it must be a tidy sum? time they used some of it on 2 quality strikers lol.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Knowing our cosy relationship with the Co-op bank it'll be about 40%. #UnseenFenianHand

20 Jun 2016 14:53:34
You have to remember jamesbhoy Celtic won't have 25 million sitting anywhere just now as a lot of fans have got the season tickets on instalments.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 15:19:27
JB7: The interest made will be done on a company to company basis, depending on how much is put in and for how long its there, and that will only be known by the banks and the depositor.
However your right, in that we need some real quality players need to be bought.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 18:35:16
It surely should beneath the dignity of any Celtic supporter to suggest that the Celtic season ticket money should go into Mr Lawwell and co 's bank accounts.
We don't need supporters of rival clubs when we have fans stupid enough or hating our Board members enough to post such a crazy post.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jun 2016 19:19:38
my post never said the money goes into lawwell or any other directors pockets read the post again my post only mentioned them as controllers of the purse strings and that due to the fans fantastic investment in buying season tickets that there should be decent money available to improve the team.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Just a note to Tony, the finance company ponies up the cash to Celtic and the finance company get paid the instalment payments.}

20 Jun 2016 22:27:10
Your post mentioned the interest Lawwell and co make on the 52,000 season tickets
If I miss - interpret that to mean Lawwell and Co getting interest . I am sorry but what can a man do only believe what he sees.

Had my usual Sunday lunchtime int with my ex bear pals yesterday who were gushing over the "great" transfer business the breadman has done, "EPL standard" players coming to Govan they are over the moon, sadly they failed to realise one is a jailbird, one is an OAP and the Jamaican over 30 has not joined yet.
Then they rounded on Accricton Stanley for being "unreasonable" in not allowing the two players to train with the rest of the "Barcelona" squad. When I pointed out no fee had been agreed yet, out came the usual guff about Stanley being "greedy"
I told them it could be a long drawn out affair with Accrington, as Sevco do not relish paying money they owe.

Hopefully it just gives us a bit more time to make sure we get the right players in rather than rushing and panicking. I still think we'll see more going out before any major signings come in.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 18:44:38
Of course Kieran even if we were offered incredible players for peanuts we are not going to sign anyone until we know where we are in Europe . Maybe we might as well wait until we see how we get on in Europe before Christmas and then we could make our move in January .

It's better if we all remain negative and have none of this positive nonsense .
Sure we can't give that B Rodgers any money until he proves himself . There seems to be " one Celtic fan" who thinks we should have got better .
Some mystery manager, or at least an un- named manager could do better .
Starve B R out of funds, he will leave, our man will get the right man in and our problems will then be over for good, everyone backing the manager.

I would imagine the Estonian team will be too strong for the Lincoln team, so looked them up on Wikepedia their stadium holds under 10,000 and they play in green and white, good colours lol.
All being well we SHOULD beat them, but they are already into their season so their match fitness will be better than ours.
Good thing is Rodgers will be able to watch both games and see the level these teams are at, so we should be well informed going into our games, whichever team makes it through.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jun 2016 12:26:44
CD will already be on the case. Let's just hope we're not using match fitness as an excuse again. Any win will do of course but either opponent should be a formality.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 12:45:19
Jimtim we are not at a stage yet we can dismiss any team, these comments from yourself and orher Celtic fans of a "formality" or an "easy" draw are dangerous. Celtic have to turn up and win these games, the only plus is that Deila is not in charge.

Either Flora Tallin or Lincoln Red Imps in the CL draw. A trip to the rock would be good.

I live a few miles from Gib, really hope Lincoln can do it, if the do then I think that they will switch stadium, to Faro or Luiz, as Gib only holds 3500,they will not play in Spain due to the political situation.

Neither will be a stroll in the park and if Rodgers doesn't get his squad in the correct frame of mind we could have find it hard enough . At least one of these teams are in mid -season and could give us our fill. Hopefully we will be ok.
