Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Time is ticking for Samaras. Will hopefully have some clarity on his future either tomorrow or on Wednesday. That way Celtic can make their last move or moves in the transfer window. Striker is the priority and we are actively pursuing a number of options. Needs to be the right one for the right price.

Regardless of that diddy Samaras out staying his welcome and the uncertainty surrounding Ledley, we are still short of quality and I would hope we have a couple of signings to 'bring back the thunder' as NL would say (as this has been lacking for a while) and help us properly, prepare for the CL qualifiers.

Lennon should just sell him already it is obvious he is going so get him out the door I am a big fan of Ledley would have him in my team ahead of brown but if he isn't signing punt him too free up some wages

Well fair to say I won't be watching Corrie for a few weeks!

Just seen some Supporters Groups meeting with Celtic and felt their points were quite positive: -

1. We would be interested in your thoughts about introducing a youth section (teenagers) at Celtic Park, one suggestion is the Lisbon Lion upper stand. The hope being that they can create some atmosphere and noise. Tickets could be sold on a match by match basis, and if a success season tickets could be sold for this section. So far we have the family stand that caters for younger fans but there is not much for young adults and this could allow them a degree of freedom from their parents on match days if they could have their own section.

2. The club are aware of the problems with coach parking at the moment and are asking fans to be patient whilst the works are carried out around the front of stadium.

3. There is a possibility of introducing a 'fanzone' outside the stadium on match days, similar to Liverpool (detail scan be found here - www.liverpoolfc.com/travel/first-time-to-anfield/matchday-family-fun).

4. Would fans be keen on a season book that guaranteed match tickets for all games - domestic home/away and European home/away?

5. We highlighted that there was a general lack of communication from the club. John Paul accepted this and stated that the club knew this was an area that had to be improved and will be working on this over the coming months. Suggestions to improved communications are -improved advertising around the stadium, more information on big screens at half time, emails to supporters keeping them up-to-date with club news.

6. There was also discussion around introducing a loyalty scheme where fans gain points for home match attendance, these could then count towards other benefits such as Tickets for more attractive fixtures, any thoughts on this scheme, this is effectively aimed at rewarding and incentivising home match attendance.

At least this seems quite constructive in the way it's put over to the Liason Officer rather than just moaning.

Would be keen on idea 4 think that's a good idea

Great informative post mrs E. A point that struck me was about the atmosphere. I am afraid the atmosphere is lost pretty much for good. Why do I say this?
Well my thoughts are when I was young we went to a match and we participated. We did not analyse anything more than the starting 11 and the two subs. It was a day organised from the off ( home or away) and the game was the high point of "our participation" We cheered and we sang we swore we threw insults, at the ref, the opposing players and yes even the opposing fans. 90 minutes full on except to eat a pie swill a 110C bovril and maybe even swig a few slugs of tennents lager. It was a great day out and we were involved and exhausted!
Nowadays its more about analysing the tactics, politely applauding and not shouting too loud in case you are considered a thug. Heaven forbid someone will be offended! Now I am not saying we were right to swear scream and give hell to the opposition, just saying that was what being a supporter was all about. We were not spectators, that term was introduced gradually and covertly in legislation. We were fans/fanatics and we were proud to be.
We now it seems really are complete spectators . Participation in football like daily life is now designed to offend. In the past we participated, rightly or wrongly and apart from TFoD there wasnt any real animosity. It was just part of the game and the experience of being a fan.
So I am saying we are now all truly complete spectators. Woe betide anyone who offends the new PC order. New laws introduced to make us criminals; directed at and toward mainly young men who have a bit of testosterone in their blood. Its not about football. Its about how the social engineers are messing with us and controlling and brainwashing us at every opportunity.
Spectators don't create atmosphere. Only participants do that so that's why I say the atmosphere has gone for good. Just wait and see what new laws they are constructing to keep nasty offensive people in line. Robots with tazers at stadiums-perhaps? Sopotcelt.

Sopot, I said something similar to Che last week about the Green Brigade. I was speaking to a few older guys (they knew my Dad) and their views about being a supporter were similar to you.

It's not that it's personal against the GB, it's just the reminder that we 'need' a singing section. One was like 'what do we need them for, 50 odd years I've been going without them' and he said about the drummer with his back to the game - not sure if that parts true though.

We do over analyse now and it can take the enjoyment out of just being a football fan. I don't believe in this offended carry on, not with certain words but I don't want to start writing them just incase.

Think most have been 90 minute bigots in their time lol

Good post Sopot, I like it!

I do remember the terraces, I went about in a wee gang when I was at school and the bus used to leave us at Dalmarnock Rd. Never had enough pocket money though for a pie and we were only about 14. Was never sure what all the water was running by my feet was either ha!

Think a youth section could be a recipe for disaster, all the young team from different areas all drunk in the one section. Possil v easterhoose v parkhead v partick lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad you liked it Mrs E. I even tried to put in a few commas to make it more readable!
Heres the thing though. Sport according to the psychologists is simulated combat. The players are the army, the manager and coaches the general and his officers and we the crowd are the civilian population. We obviously back our Bhoys. The opposition are the enemy.
This is not my take on things this is what the Human watchers consider to be fact. Now given this is the recognised set up why oh why can anyone be shocked that insults are thrown and people get hot under the collar. The human condition is tribal its all understood by the government shrinks. In fact if I was a conspiracy theorist I would say its been deliberately designed to distract us from getting passionate about other things like say the Madrid police beating young defenceless women for protesting against global fascism or any number of outrageous acts by those in power.I could go on but wont. (Mrs E breathes sigh of relief)
So given I know why sport has been developed and more who did it ( did you know Hitler designed the olympic rings) the hypocrisy and nonsense of how the governing class and oligarchy in the UK react to vilifiy and criminalise young men and women who are fans;well it takes your breath away. Sopotcelt.

When I was younger, I stood in the Jungle every home game and it was some atmosphere and very intimidating for away teams. There was a special bond with the team and the singing/chanting was non-stop.
The downside was the crush forward if anything exciting happened, the pee spilling over your shoes, the vomiting drunk boy and the flying pies/cans.

I will have to look into these claims more tonight Sopot, I’m at work just now.

Not the first time I have been on this site and ended up researching Nazis!

I was never sick and have never threw anything at the football either. I just hate getting beat.

Not a rumour but just wondered if given commons recent form do we need to buy a striker. Read today that he has scored 14 goals in league this season which was already more than hooper did last season. Maybe we should play him as an out an out striker and use funds for other positions. We already have 5 strikers at club in stokes, balde, pukki, frimjonson and bangura. Thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Commons has had to step up as the strikers we have at the club are rank.
He is one of the most talented players we have and has shown it at CL level.
We need to add MORE quality to the team - especially strikers - as we are relying far too much on him.
Commons deserves to have better players alongside him and we need to get back to a decent CL level or we will continue to go backwards and end up losing all our decent players.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

JJ commons has done well this season but I don't remember him being good in CL But we do need a penalty box striker or maybe not if the new bhoy can't spell his name or balde get a run in the team and score a few

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe people are seriously coming out with this. YES, we need a striker who can score goals! What happens when Commons goes through a dry spell and we don't have another natural goalscorer? We just got through a baron run of no goals?

Not celtic related, but may be of interest
to fans who are undecided as who to vote for in any future elections.A Ukip official in scotland is at the centre of a bigotry row after saying Glasgow City Council was for Gays, Catholics, and Communists. Also said there is more chance of winning the lottery two weeks running than getting a rangers supporting msp into the institutionally catholicised pretendy parliament.Read this in the Daily Express, would imagine this could cost a few votes, her name is Misty Thackeray.jimbhoy.

Is she for independence or against, forty am not that clued up on it all but it sure will help me vote the opposite of her. A would imagine this would be front page news tomorrow

It's Arthur Misty Thackeray, a male who is head of UKIP. Well known for anti-gay, sexist and Islamophobic posts on , Twitter, etc. What surprises you about this backward party and their shock speeches?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll say in full confidence that Kris kross Commons is one of the finest footballers to grace our club in a long time. I'm a firm admirer of the bhoy but in no way is he a striker. I think he plays best in behind and that's where he should remain. Not born a striker we would only get on his back if he dried up. Long may his goals continue. But not the answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arthur Misty Thackeray, the acting chair of UKIP in Scotland, has come under fire recently after it emerged he had published a series of anti-gay and Islamophobic posts on , including comments that the Glasgow City Council stood for “gays, Catholics, communists.”

According to The Sunday Herald, Mr Thackeray has been accused of making “racist, bigoted, and homophobic comments” since the posts were made public.

In 2011, he wrote: “Real Catholicism and Real Islamism are far from antagonists with both having an outwardly benign image but inwardly sharing a fascist ideology of extreme submissive conservatism and imperialism …”

Later, he also criticised the local authority in Scotland: “No wonder the blue half of my city say G.C.C actually stands for the Glasgow Celtic Council for Gays Catholics Communists eh.lol. NS!”

Also in 2011, he wrote: “You have to witness a Glasgow election count night to understand the extent of islamist influence within the SNP and Labour … last time out I thought we were contesting a seat in Pakistan.lol.”

Last night, SNP MEP Alyn Smith called on Mr Thackeray to be removed, saying: “These racist, bigoted and homophobic comments are totally unacceptable.”

Mr Thackeray, defending his position, said: “It is rather difficult to respond with any degree of accuracy to random comments allegedly made on a social network several years ago and now presented out of context by a newspaper with a clearly anti-Ukip editorial line.

“Such comments when taken in context would be considered merely routine social commentary by any experienced observer of Scottish political and cultural life.”

He also said he felt “very strongly” in upholding “hard-won freedoms” such as freedom of speech.

“Many in today’s society have become accustomed to sugar-coated language, ” he added, “but it goes without saying it is never my intention to cause needless offence.”

Defo need more strikers a celtic! Balde and pukki need time (I think) before they come good mind you I totally forgot about the big Icelandic bhoy who just arrived so hopefully he'll be a great addition! HH

Life's too short to give some of these folk the time of day. Full of hate!

Agree0 Disagree0

The ultimate form of discrimination is economic.
Look at the latest Oxfam report winner takes all ( now I am not a fan of Oxfam but they seem to have hit some truth) The top 85 people yes that's people have more wealth than the lowest 3.5 billion people.
All forms of state sponsored antagonism in society is classic divide and rule tactics. Race religion gender sexism homophobia etc. Left and right politics that's the best one. I was fooled for years that there was actually a difference between the crisis managing and creators, yes that's the politicians! Ed Balls at Bildeberg was the icing on the cake there. A Real champion of the people there!
We really have to look further at the why and wherefore of race and gay and gender issues to see who really benefits from people being distracted and divided by things that really most of us are not interested in except that it is constantly in the news and there are reports and pressure groups everywhere ( all backed by big business) making comment and ensuring we don't look at the real culprits in our society.
The economic fascists are who we should be looking at. They will destroy all our freedoms make us poor and commit us all to slavery war and death. Its actually happening now if you care to look around. Sopotcelt.

Thanks to all who replied to my post re
misty thackeray. To be honest, I had never heard of this person before, until I read about it in todays paper. The article only gave the name as misty, so assumed it was female.jimbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd never heard of this person either Jim but UKIP is not something I take much heid of to be honest.

I find it difficult to take their bitter views seriously or that some can honestly think the way they do.

Sopot, I seen those stats today as well with the rich. It's always been the same, with the rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. You are definitely right about the ultimate form of discrimination being economic!

Bitterness and hate though, I never understood it. However, I do think it's driven by fear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok Mrs E my last comment. I don't want any tongues wagging!
The ultimate ultimate discrimination is murder. If they have deem to let you live its economic.
The hatred comes all the way from the top. They are not like ordinary people you know. Ok that's it I am done. Apologies folks for going on I realise this is a football forum but I have to speak my truth when the opportunity arises. Sopotcelt.

Just seen that we're now favourites to sign Steven Fletcher ahead of Everton. Any news on that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

SB68, I hope not he is not the answer we are looking for, injury prone and not worth anywhere near the £6M that will be required to get him. For that sort of money you would want a "better class" of striker. Hail Hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really want someone at our club that thinks spitting all over a guy working for pennies is something to video and then put on the internet. Does he think he is a tory MP really gone down in my estimations after the weekend

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd spend £6m on Alfred Finnbogason (Heerenveen), Jonathan Soriano (Salzburg), Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn), Charlie Austin (QPR), Aron Johannsson (AZ), Philipp Hosiner (Austria Wien), Danny Ings (Burnley), Vincent Aboubakar (Lorient), Ivan Santini (Kortrijk) or Abderrazak Hamdallah (Aalesund) before Steven Fletcher.
