I've had enough drink tonight so I can handle the backlash . As good as Leigh griffiths has been this season and he has been good, I'm a fan . But to get to that next level I really feel he needs to learn when to pass and not shoot on goal . It could cost us in games where chances are at s premium as I'm sure happened in one of the European games this year . Molde at home I think . I know it's a poor criticism considering his record this year I just sometimes think he could square the ball rather than shoot .

Bobby

3 weeks ago at Hampden he squared the ball to GMS who almost missed from 5 yards. He just needs more support, someone to take the burden off him. And if you think we are going to buy someone at a higher level than LG then you are deluded.

I think that sums up what's wrong with our support a player who, gives his all every game, breaks records is fully committed scores goals, it makes me sick for the comments made i give up how much more can this guy give? Should pass more f- me so angry , we don't need people like u keep listening to Clyde super scoreboard and reading the daily red tops and leave SUPPORTING THE BHOYS TO US HAIL HAIL!

Da1888 I hear your comments, I do . Like I say I was a little ashamed but do you not think sometimes he should maybe square a ball? Is it wrong thinking Leigh Griffiths is not finished article and want more?

Nialh not once did I mention we would look to buy anyone . I just think as good as he's been for us this season that there is still room for improvement . some people think that makes me less a Celtic fan than so be it . I'll say it again, I think griffiths has been tremendous for Celtic this season but I still think if he passed now and again he could be better.

NiallH, when you say GMS almost missed from 5 yards, what you're really saying is that he scored. Have a word with yourself.

Think wee Griffiths Is the last person u should be doubting Bobby! And u said it yourself, it's poor criticism mate! And if it wasn't for the wee mans goals I shudder to think were we would be in the league! Like I said him along with wee KT are the only 2 I wouldn't point fingers at this season! And Niall made a good point to, it's decent support he needs from the players behind him! Would love to see young Christie and Roberts getting a good run in the team, I think with them in behind Griffiths there's no reason he can't get well into 40 goals this season! Really glad we bought Christie, think the boys quality! Stay off the drink Bobby 😂😂.

so everything thinks griffiths is the finished article? He can't improve and is immune to criticism? Like I said I'm a big fan but there is room for improvement . And that's not being a bad fan, that's just a fan wanting more . And I haven't even nearly had enough to drink.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I know what you're saying, Bobby. LG will score goals in Scotland but he'll struggle at a higher level. 4 goals in 20 appearances at that level shows he struggles with the step up.}

20 Feb 2016 23:39:17
Bobby u on drugs I've been following Celtic nearly 40 yrs and in that time never seen a player so committed yes he's had issues in the past and rightly so condemned for them but give me 11 griffiths in our team and I be a happy fan.

Thing is tho ed Scotland is our level and our bread and butter.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not according to some of the posters on here. Is it right to sign players for the Scottish game but demand a new manager for European failure? LG has to shoulder some of the blame for that failure along with everyone else including the manager. I've been saying for over a year that we aren't signing CL players, some of them struggle to step up to the EL and no matter how you twist it you can't blame that on the manager. NL's teams learnt from playing in the EL and we can only hope that these players have done the same, Gary Hooper 'only' scored 7 goals in 19 European apps for us. When you're spending money on the players we are you need them to learn and progress, for me LG has already done that more than I expected and has struggled in Europe, he missed a lot of chances that he should have scored if I recall.
I will not be confident of CL qualification with LG as our striker.}

21 Feb 2016 00:10:22
Welshboy, are you not reading the posts? I've never said he's not good . I've said he could improve if he passed now and again . Jesus, I'm looking for drugs now.

21 Feb 2016 00:14:06
Exactly ed, you've hit the nail on head there . I just can't get my head round some people think I'm less off a fan because I see room improvement .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't let it bother you. Sometimes I fell like Will Smith in MIB and that I'm dealing with a different species on here let alone CFC supporters.}

21 Feb 2016 00:45:47
Well at least you get to wear shades and look cool then . I'm shocked what people are happy with .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 8=)

21 Feb 2016 01:39:10
Agree with you there ed and sorry if u thought I was putting u down Bobby but lg is our main striker and I can't see that changing and tbh I'm happy with that as I think he's earned it. As for Europe I always see that as a bonus and not a divine right I want us to win everything domestically perhaps that may be lack of ambition to some but me I see it as growing up with the other mob winning everything I want us to reign supreme in Scotland for years to come that will make me a happy bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't argue with any that WB. Unless we're winning the CL or EL there's no better feeling than seeing CFC win the league or lifting a cup. I remember all to clearly going 9 years without a league flag and 6 without a single trophy. Too many supporters behave like CFC started when MON took over.
The rod that has been created to beat RD with in regards to the CL will hang heavy over future managers. NL's team was allowed to develop and learn from the EL and hopefully this team will have done the same but we're not shopping in a CL market so we need to try the alternative and that's developing players and the team. Because of past mistakes that was never going to happen over night for all sorts of reasons. There's teams with better youth systems etc than us (Ajax) and teams that spend a hell of a lot more than us (Fenerbahce) that weren't in the CL.
What do you think the reaction would be if we lost to FC Midtjylland? Will Liverpool fans want Klopp sacked if they don't get CL football next season or even this season? Would LVG guarantee CFC CL football?}

21 Feb 2016 01:42:56
I agree with Ed and Bobby here on Griffiths. Fair play to him, he's having a tremendous season domestically that cannot be argued. However, he is not the man we should be relying on in the CL qualifiers and looking for goals from in Europe. He just hasn't got it, it's a step too far and he's shown that time and again. As much as Guidetti soured himself amongst the support during the second half of the season, he was a player who could be relied on to get you a goal against decent opposition.

The Inter game last season shows this, Griffiths is on for 80 mins and is barely a threat, on comes Guidetti for the final 10 and boom he gets you a cracking goal out of nothing.

Griffiths could do the business against either Molde or Ajax in four games against them, Commons has proved himself more reliable for goals at that level. Scoring goals in Scotland especially for Celtic is not that difficult if your a semi competent striker.

A lot of folk are allowing his goals in Scotland where the standard is so poor to cloud their judgement of his real flaws when we step up a level. He is a back up Celtic striker and we should be looking for a new number 1 who can be trusted to do the business in Europe to an extent next season. However Griffiths does deserve many plaudits this season no doubt about that.

21 Feb 2016 02:24:01
Ok we go with you here celticforever take a guy who has given his all for us this season but drop him for ql qualification because he's just a back up forget the fact he's scored so many goals for us he just don't cut it sorry but that's worst opinion I've ever heard this guy has given his all the whole season now if he was banging in 2 yard tap ins for most of his goals u may have a point but let's be honest there's not been many of those he has made the majority of his goals with his accuracy and eye for goal. As much debate goes on about our team and how they play setup etc 1 thing is for sure this guy is priceless to us and we could spend millions on a replacement and not be guaranteed the return he gives us.

There are probably nine players that should be looked at changing before LG for European games. Hom and Scoot Brown are the two to have in the team against anyone.

Bobby

I know you didn't mention buying anyone but just pointing out that LG is the best we will get. Of course there is always room for improvement.

Kev

My point was that he does square the ball. 1 example was given of him not passing and I have given 1 example of him doing it. my further point was that when players nearly miss from 5 yards when you square it to them you are less likely to give them it next time when you could have scored yourself. Not sure why you are asking me to have a word with myself as a valid point.

Because he didn't nearly miss, he scored.

Question is will Ronny be brave enough to have Allen, Christie, Roberts behind LG next game.

20 Feb 2016 17:32:39
Would be potent.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2016 19:07:41
I agree it would be potent, but while you have a section of the support booing a successful celtic team, then it would be risky to start with these three at this time, given the collective inexperience they have playing for celtic. The hyper critical and super negative elements within the support should have a long hard look at themselves. Armstrong alluded to it during the week, and that nonsense about the shirt doesn't shrink is just another myth used as an excuse to berate players and coaches at every opportunity.

20 Feb 2016 21:36:20
The three mentioned look the part so should get a few games together to gel. Ever hopeful.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ronnie doesn't play them together again apart from ten or fifteen minutes as substitutions.
