McCoist to have meeting with Wallace regarding funds:

McCoist: I need new players.
Wallace: Ally we are trying to bring austerity to the club.
McCoist: Oster Ity? Is he that big Nigerian striker?

it's starting to get boring and annoying people taking a pop at pukki.

I really think a lot of people either don't go to game's or don't really know much about football.

Pukki seemed the only player moving at time's in the first half . Him movement off the ball is fantastic and had a good shot well saved .

You could have Larsson up front just now and it wouldn't make any difference as the football we are playing is total garbage everything is going out wide and nothing playing through the centre so if a striker is not getting any service and can he get into the game . Pukki tracked back into his own half 3 or 4 times today just to try getting into the match.

We have been playing a 4 - 5 - 1 moving into a 4- 4 - 3 using the 2 wide players as supporting strikers but it seems as if our wide players need to touch the ball before we score everything comes from a wide position there is no urgency or directness in our play, everything is slow .

Again Lennon makes the same subs takes off pukki for stokes and stokes can't get into the game WHY! because there is no change of tactics or formation everything is like for like . everything is sideway passes to let every opposition player get back .

I will always accept a 1 -0 win . I'm not complaining about the result, I'm just getting pis*ed off with everyone getting on our strikers back. we need to start trying to get our strikers into the game which does not involve humping the high ball up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said mate.Pukki done more than Stokes, Sammi and Forrest combined. The guy needs a partner to let him drop off, when will Lenny try him and Balde? It might just be a fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selbhoy stop talking p*ss if strikers are not doing there job its there fault pukki makes great movement has Emilio not been pumping balls into the box for no one to be on the end of them wait its other people fault humping the ball up Gary Hooper played with the same players exception of victor and could take his chances its the quality of strikers we have the chances are there to be taken no one is taking them

A really hope pukki does prove a lot wrong me included.
Am afraid good movement alone doesn't make u a good striker. Celtic have created more than enough chances in games he has been playing .
Don't think stokes and samaras are doing very well either although start of season stokes was, that much so everybody was demanding he played in Europe.
Am afraid to be happy with pukkis contribution for me means you either dnt go to games or you dnt no much about football.

Agree0 Disagree0

When ball is going out wide then the quality of cross AND the movement and anticipation of the strikers should produce plenty of goal attempts?
We have too many guys playing at 60-70% and a few who should never have been given the Hoops in the first place.
The fact that we are unbeaten and eventually keeping a string of clean sheets is a positive, but the standard of football and lack of flair and pace is taking the shine off it.
Clearly we have a lack of natural finishers at the club in all positions and we need a few additions to become more entertaining.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Ayrshire Bhoy I think it's you who needs to stop talking P*sh or start going to the game's as if you where at todays game can you tell me what ball izzy put into the box that never went straight out of the park or 20 feet too high and almost out for a throw at the other side. Pukki had no service today. ran his legs off, will say he lost the ball twise and chased the man down almost 30 yards and won it back both time's .

any ball which was played through the middle was by big Vincent and it was a high ball and then the big keeper did the same when Sammy came on.
And as for gary Hoope we played a different style of football last season and hooper got most of his goals last December when he wanted out . he had long dry spells without scoring also.

selboy

Agree0 Disagree0

To Selboy21 you are 100% correct in everything you say izzy is the worst crosser of a ball I have ever seen.As for ayrshire bhoy you are correct on him as well talks constant p--sh never has a good word to say about anything celtic
like you, I doubt if he goes to certain games, how are the strikers going to score goals when they don't get any service in the box.jimbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 00:24:34
Jimbhoy are you saying celtic are not creating any chances during the 1rst half of the season for strikers? A dnt think so there have been many a game when all we've been crying out for is some1 to put the ball in net and pukki has been playing along with other misfiring strikers. And a do go to the games
Monkeybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying izzy's crosses are shocking but yesterday they were. Also pukki is not a striker whowill get onto crossed balls he;s more of a technical striker who need the ball to his feetor played in behind the defence to run onto but not high balls . Yesterday when the ball was played to his feet he had 2 or 3 great touches also beat 2 players and make Scott Fox pull off a fantastic save. Hooper never scored many headers from crossed balls but he did have the habbit of sniffing around inside the box when needed but again the team played different tactics.

All I'm saying is we are playing some very boring football, not good for the eye's stuff but we are still getting the result's . that's all that matters to me.

Some people never have a good thing to say about celtic on this page, I'm not always flattering but we need to give the players a chance mainly the new players .
Looking at our history players like Paul Elliott and Alan Stubbs but went on to be good players for the club . give the bhoys a chance and stop calling everyone who's not a superstar after a few games a dud .

and Happy new year to all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Pukki is a better player than his stats show. I think the boy is a much more aware and able footballer than for example Stokes. The whole team though is malfunctioning as we have players playing put of position.
Brooney playing far too ar forward on the right. Matthews playing as a winger. Mulgrew in the middle. WTF did we but Biton?
The team has no shape and as for the tactics what tactics? It looks like a man for man face off. We have better players and as such we will eventually score a goal by just having that wee bit better individual quality. I am shocked at what appears to be a crude and thoughtless approach by the coaching staff. I mean do they study the game, it appears not from the last 3 performances.
My biggest gripe however is the continual picking of favourites. The guys on the bench need game time. don't they realise we can put up with a 1-0 win or draw or even a defeat if its a good defeat that is if the young boys get a run and then at least they A have their chance so can't complain B get a chance to develop and C provide us long suffering fans with some interest and by proxy some entertainment.
I for one am thorougly sick of Sami, Ledley, Forrest who I have defended but who even I have lost patience with and Stokes. Biton Balde Atajic and fischer should be first pick or at least get 30 mins ame time.
Finally all this shi** about getting the league wrapped up asap is killing me. So what our manager is saying is let's completely destroy any interest whatsoever with a third of the league left so I can then have my own personal safety net to lose as many games as possible with no pressure. Who cares if we as fans and all the other clubs completely lose interest. Does he or any of th big wigs realise the stadium will be deserted. Wy not get the young guys in and sure drop a few points and at least we will have some extension of the competition even although we all know its a foregone conclusion that Celtic will win it easily. Bah humbug. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selboy and jimbhoy I'm going to have to step in here. Izzy got forward (as he always does so well) and put one straight on Pukkis napper in the first half. His crossing isn't bad at all and he's actually one of our most creative players. People having a pop at Pukki? More like people having a pop at Izzy.

Agree0 Disagree0

JimTim If you read my last post it says I don't think izzys crossing is terrible but yesterday it was . Izzy must have played about 12 crosses in and if one half decent ball is good enough for you then that's ok for yourself.

But at no time did I say izzys crosses are always terrible , As I forone think he has been getting back to his best for the past 6 weeks now . he has been one of our best players of recent.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 13:11:22
Agreed izzy crossing wasnt gr8 yesterday normally better.
As for Pukki a must be at wrong games a couple of nice touches, lay offs and runs doesn't cut it for a celtic forward. If he's not a goal scorer he should be coming out picking ball up and creating plenty in the SPFL. Bangura rarely started and didn't get as much game time but also showed some nice touches some nice runs and some good shots still isn't good enough.
After all is said a still go and support him everytime he plays and hope he's gony do more and prove me wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 15:10:21
i have said all along that for me the partnership would be balde and pukki. playing one striker up front in the spl is pretty embarassing and painful to watch also. pukki makes great runs off the ball but its our midfield who don't take the chance its the same story every game. plays it out wide to izzy he takes on his man and swings it in. this cuts out evry other player in the team apart from pukki/stokes

even atajic up top with anyone. he got on and scored and now hasn't seen a minute since. what is going on here?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 16:56:43
This pukki makes good runs is nonsense there are plenty that do some good things like samaras, Forrest am afraid pukki deserves the same criticism, he needs to do a hell of a lot better good runs doesn't cut it as a celtic forward

Agree0 Disagree0

@14 Was not going to get involved in debate but your comment's MB have me wondering, when was the last time you seen Forrest especially and Sammi being involved in a game for more than 10 minute's, my opinion of Pukki is I think he is trying to hard, remember Brattback he was the same

Listening to snyde on the way home I had to check that I actually heard what I thought I heard.

In the middle of, what seemed like a general Celtic kick in, 'moderator' Jim Dellahunt informed us that Celtic have 'three joke players'. How very professional. I will be sending Celtic an e-mail demanding that they ask for an apology from this arrogant, deluded no mark. What would be Dellahunts response if i, as a caller, called his panel jokes? I would imagine he would have me cut off sharpish.

On his 'pundits', we have a selection of ex rangers losers and the gruesome twosome from the land of shoddy tabloids, Keevins and Guidi. As usual this pair never missed a chance to promote sevco. Keevins in particular is the very epitome of a joke reporter. Guidi has stated he thinks, and he does not care if UEFA say The rangers history ended, that sevco inherited the rangers honours. Keevins on the other hand is far more duplicitous.

Keevins cannot bring himself to actually say rangers were liquidated.Today his favourite phrase seemed to be 'when rangers went away'! Went away where Hugh? They did not 'go away' sadly, they were liquidated and had to start again in the bottom tier of Scottish football. So we have one reporter who is obviously unable to grasp what liquidation, despite Airdrie, Clydebank and Gretna, actually means. His colleague, a vastly experienced reporter, cannot bring himself to state the truth, rangers were liquidated.

Fraser Wishart, possibly the most mealy mouthed individual I have ever heard on the radio, sat and listened to players being described as 'jokes'. This is a high up figure in the SPFA! You might think he would have interjected on behalf of two of his members? I would hope this is mentioned to him by Lennon or indeed the players concerned. If Celtic ignore this then they are allowing open season on OUR club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well put GJ. Never listened to the garbage but I suppose mildly better than listening to the rain. You description of the panel is spot on and sums up that ilk. As I have said before, that lot never let facts interfere with their opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard it myself. Guy called in to tell him he was out of order and a bit over the top and he got dogs abuse from them. I for one am sick of them telling me that Celtic need rangers. Do they actually think this sevco bunch would compete? Lucky if they'd make the top 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 10:59:10
Although I agree we don't need or miss rangers it very looks like half of our fans do, why els is there such a dramatic drop in attendances since they died. A can't believe its down to the tough financial times for fans as do we not have about 48,000 season ticket holders which the tickets are payed for. No doubt some fans travel will cost a bit but surely not that many . If a go on public transport it costs under £4 if a drive under a tenor.
If weed played them yesterday it would have been a full house even with travelling restraints.
So where are all the stay away fans?

Agree0 Disagree0

@Monkeybhoy: I have to say I was very disappointed with the crowd yesterday. With free buses, to and from the game, it was a poor attendance and gives the pro sevco lobby fuel for their fire.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 13:23:46
GJ hearts game was just as bad. Am not saying we need rangers, oldco, newco, zombies but to me the stay away fans are. Why els aren't they going if they've bought season tickets. As soon as there is some sort of rangers playing in top flight it's a cert the crowds will get bigger and bigger as they get better.
Of course everybody u speak to still goes to the games and were there yesterday lol, ma mrs drove me because a didn't know where the buses left from new there was 1 in maryhill but not time or place.

02 Jan 2014 16:47:44
Maybe if the fans were getting entertained more they would turn up and club have shot there'self in foot with regards to the green brigade as without them the atmosphere is non existent a go to every home game and at times it's been a struggle to stay and watch it the pub at half times a far more appealing idea to be honest

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 17:07:32
There have been other seasons when we wer poor the season ticket holders still turned up, should the fans only go when we're playing well? Could understand for cup games some not going why pay even more if it's not entertaining, but if you have a ticket then a dnt get it

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 18:51:17
Am not saying they should only go if they are playing well but this season at home we have been pretty awful some people may just not feel up to going anymore a used to look forward getting up and getting a cargo for the games but now at times it's a chore the lack of atmosphere doesn't help either against thistle you could hear the players on the park a feel a lot of fans are unhappy with the stewarding and policeing at games as well a don't know if its just me but parkheads not like it used to be the whole atmosphere is different a think that why away games are much more appealing to people at the moment just my thoughts in the matter

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 19:24:14
Gony say it's near impossible to get an atmosphere in s pretty empty stadium with supporters patched all over the place. Am afraid if there true fans they should be making an effort to go to most games if they have season tickets.
They'd still be going if the zombies were in league playing bad or not. This is why a believe half the fans do miss them.

Agree0 Disagree0

A agree with you some fans will miss them but I do think there are other factors some celtics own doings something needs to change though to get the fans back and the atmosphere going again

Another 3 points and a know the unbeaten run continues but that performance today was rank rotten we have absolutely no creativity at the moment and seem happy to just pass the ball back and forth with no penetration at all Forrest again waste of time and anybody with half a brain can see pukki needs someone playing up alongside him he looks lost up there on his own at the moment it's a struggle to sit and watch a full game it's so boring a really hope Lennon shakes things up a bit get rid of some deadwood a couple of additions and change the team give balde atajic rogic and others a chance as it can't get any worse than watching this at the moment a would happily accept scraping games or even dropping points if we were trying our young players or actually tried different tactics but Lennon doesn't seem willing to do this he's far too loyal to his favourites and seems unwilling to give anyone a chance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jan 2014 17:27:45
Looks like Joe Ledley is committed to the club for the foreseeable future. Still question marks over Samaras. Set the bar very high with his performances last season and hasn't quite been able to match that in this campaign. He offers us something different with his height and pace, however, maybe it is time for him to move on to a new challenge.

If you have read any of my other posts I have constantly slated our forward line henrik stokes pukki Sammy they are not producing against lower opposition pukki is a dud I hope he proves me wrong but we are really struggling to break teams down if commons got injured we would be less creative and 1 nil in my eyes is as good as a 5 nil but we really need new forwards we are being served up this gash because of this so if I annoy you for stating the truth then your easily annoyed the guy has had a good crack at the whip and for me provides nothing

he played in the games against hearts and motherwell did he not? the problem is there is no creativity for the strikers. u were slating pukki on here before the match kicked off so your obviously one of these guys who can't see what certain players actually do. why not get behind the guy and give him some support.

02 Jan 2014 11:16:34
Henricks tongue your games to me just highlights how when we are creating Pukki still isn't scoring. 12 goals numerous more chances created and still he can't get on scoresheet. Out of all the goals a remember him providing for stokes to score that's all. That's hardly what your looking for in a striker. Samaras offers more than that and still takes a lot of abuse (most deserved).
And a get behind him everytime he plays and a hope he discovers some sort of form. Think giving him a shot playing with Balde mite complement him more.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 15:01:18
monkeybhoy I don't believe Pukki is a striker. I think he is at his best as a link up player as he has a good football brain. if we win 5-0 every game with him in the team I don't care if he scores the goals or not. my point was that the OP was critical of him before the match kicked off and was straight on after to say I told you so! some people like to have a whipping boy and the OP is one of them.

A do hope to god he turns things around but for me he just isn't doing enough to be given a starting slot .
We're moaning others aren't doing enough why do they get played Samaras, Forrest, why should pukki be any different

Celtic subs: Zaluska, Biton, Samaras, Stokes, Boerrigter, Balde, Fisher

Samaras and Stokes dropped. Fisher dropped without putting a foot wrong. Ledley and Forrest still not getting dropped. Ambrose still at CB ahead of Mulgrew, who I don't rate in MF. Balde still not getting a chance to start. No Atajic in the squad. Lennon's team selections are so narrow minded!

Morning and a happy new year. Looking forward to the game today, they are our oldest GLASGOW rivals after all. Reading that Lenny claims somebody will be getting a hiding from us in the league, well let's hope it's today.

This has suddenly become a game of some importance for me. After the ICT disappointment, I know we won but we were fairly lucky not to concede, we need to be at it from minute one today. The selection of the team is also important.Lenny has had accusations of playing favourites and to be honest it's hard to disagree with this. After Inverness, Sammi and Forrest cannot possibly be starters.

Will he go with the team who produced two exciting performances, and plenty goals, in the hertz and motherwell games? Injury permitting why not? With the exception of Lustig they are all available. In these games Pukki was free to play along the line and done good work, along with Stokes, in making space for players to move into. The whole team ere fluent and played fast accurate passes for ninety minutes.

Lets hope we get a good crowd.looks like it will be pretty mild and dry so that will help, as will the free buses.
