I've just seen Brendan's interview re the Hearts game on Tues. Said it was his 101 x game at Manager of Celtic and was the easiest team talk he's ever given. The Bhoys had a point too prove after a few of the Hearts players where let's say, a little vocal after they beat us in Dec.
Well Mr Levein after your stupid comments regarding Broony, I can't wait till we play yous again.
This is from a t*t of a man who punched his own player ( Graeme Hogg If my memory is right) during a game. He needs to have a good look in the mirror before making outrageous statements about any Professional Footballer.
This is when you realise Brendan conducts himself impeccably at all times and is a Credit to our great Club.

The Hearts manager is a total tool of a man! He actually goes out of his way to piss everyone off.

I've seen Hendry in a couple of games and thought he had potential but his interviews have impressed me. He is saying all the right things but it's also how he comes across, that he knows he has to work hard to get in our team and wants the challenge. I really think the bhoy is going to become what we need him to be.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

BR has improved most of players he inherited . Surely he must be very confident of improving Hendry.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Feb 2018 11:45:54
Every player can be improved. The question for me is what did we need?

Did we need a player who could be improved to make the team?

or

a player who could make the team immediately, like Charlie will, and who then could be improved even further?

I think the former is the case. I don't see Hendry going straight into the team. That conforms he isn't seen as being at the level yet. My concern is we need this type of player now. Not six weeks from now or indeed however long it is deemed necessary form to be given a jersey.

If he is not put in immediately then that suggests he isn't at this point a better option than what we currently have, so we are back into the project territory.

I had hoped that we would buy a player already better than what we have. that could play against Zenit. Now Hendry could play against Zenit, but if we are talking about hopefully he will become the player we need, then that means right now he may not be.

Why didn't we buy a player who would start right away?

If he starts tomorrow, we will see that Rogers thinks he is worthy of holding a jersey now. If he doesn't and doesn't get at least a part of the game then that suggests he isn't viewed as ready.

In the meantime then we have left the window playing the same players who have been found wanting against European opposition. How can that be a good thing. Are we saying the failings defensively against Bayern, Paris and Anderlecht will miraculously sort themselves out?

I was delighted with the defenders against Hearts. It may have been that Rogers looked at the performance of young Ajer and concluded like the rest of us that he is the real deal.

It is still a strategy with a high risk factor. The games against Zenit will provide us with our sternest test this half of the season. We will get the answer to the improvement in the defence in those two games.

I still would have preferred a player being brought in who was ready right now and not cup tied.

I too sincerely hope Hendry is of a quality that he demands a jersey. Does anybody believe he is there yet?

We will see if Rogers thinks so by giving him at least a part of the game tomorrow.

I read on here that he can also play right back, which I ever knew, maybe that is an option. The starting line up and bench tomorrow will give us a window into where Rogers sees the boy right now.

I don’t know if he’s there yet but I think he will be by next season. I don’t think that being in the starting 11 for Kilmarnock means anything as some times a few weeks are given to let the players settle into the new environment.

I wouldn't be any fan of Regan, but I would have some sympathy for him because of the most severe pressure he was put under once Rangers died .
For starters the Government in Scotland, the Rangers Supporters club in the House of Westminster, The Church of Scotland, The masons, The Orange Order, The Strathclyde Police Force, various MPs in Scotland, the North of Ireland and England, All Major Political Paries in Scotland and England, DUP and UUP plus big retail businesses in West of Scotland .
That's only some of the Interested Parties that Lobbied for their establishment club that Britian couldn't exist without I.

Agree3 Disagree2

02 Feb 2018 09:26:18
No sympathy at all for this man. He was the head of an organisation he should have had the balls to make decisions and changes as he saw fit. He could have done that and there is nothing the masons or anyone else could have done about it. He is weak and not fit for purpose and he can now go back down the road and hopefully the SPFL can send Doncaster with him. Useless the pair of them and they have done nothing in their time to be worthy of any praise. Good riddance.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Feb 2018 10:19:45
Stan, he was appointed because he was weak. It wasn't him that thought up the idea of Armageddon and civil arrest . It was the Scottish Government, senior Judicery as well as Senior Police Chiefs &. Scottish Media . He was getting one track advice and should have realised what was happening and stepped down . Regan at that time was wet behind the ears and as a typical English man, he knew he was superior to the Scottish race and would it would take a superior being like himself to sort out the troublesome and outdated Scots .
The English may have created most of our problems in Ireland and Sotland, but one thing is certain we don't need them to undo these problems and institutions. Its only when we get rid of England meddling in our affairs, will we get our two great countries back to normal.

Can anybody think of anything Regards done that really sticks out in your mind that improved the Scottish gsme? Eight years and all I can think of is him giving the dead club a licence! We need to change how we market our game. We should be showing our big games and not away just away games from Celtic. In England they show the top teams playing each other. If we showed more of other worthy games it would improve the exposure of our league and show that our game is not as poor as people state but just poorly promoted. There is a resurgence in the Scottish game and BR had a lot to do with this, along with the higher calibre of managers currently in our league. Lennon, Coyle, Clarke etc as it stands we just show us winning away games at poorly attended games like Kilmarnock etc. The best way to promote the league is to show more games. Any new TV deal this is a must and don't think it would affect attendances as much as clubs fear, when you've got no fans, you've got no fans. If sevco were on top our league would be talked about in a much more complimentary fashion.

Was delighted that we got Musonda but that feeling was dwarfed when I heard Regan has left the SFA.

Would love to see Lawwell or someone else from the Celtic hierarchy get the job, as it would bring me great joy watching a horde of zombies with pitch forks marching forth from a gazeebo in Govan enroute to Hampden.

Someone who spoke up about the way Scottish Football was run a couple of years ago was Barry Hearn and he was keen to get involved. Love or hate him he knows how to sell a product you only have to look at the level Darts, Snooker and Boxing is at these days. Scottish football needs new blood people who can get with the times, not just at club level, the Scottish Manager situation, Hampden, its all a joke under these clowns.

Barry Hearn would be a god send to run the commercial side of our game and promote it. But no way the old boys club will let him in.

I think the only answer is to have mass demonstrations at every ground, and a vote of no confidence by all clubs in the people still sitting in Hampden.

Scott Brown won the ball fairly and landed awkwardly on Harry Cochrane the other night. It was unlucky for him - nothing more, nothing less. Levein's comments today shouldn't surprise anybody as they are in line with the other guff we've seen spewed out of Tynecastle under the Ann Budge regime. They take any opportunity they can to publicly have a go at our club and fans but turn a blind eye to their own fans behaving like thugs (punch thrown at Sinclair, ball thrown full pelt at Lustig from a few feet away, the Neil Lennon attack and just general bile and intimidation any time the ball goes out of play dressed up as "atmosphere") .

Excited to see the standard of football this group of players can produce for the second half of the season. With important player's coming back from injury, the boss will have so many options to choose from which is never a bad thing. He's clearly building for the the next 2-3 years, and if everyone buys into his philosophy of how he wants Celtic to play, we can all look forward to the future. Let's take one season at a time, one title at a time and leave everyone else in our slipstream. Thanks ED007 for all your hard work and for keeping your finger on the pulse. Hail hail lads.

The performance during the first half last night was in my opinion awesome .
Three strong powerful midfielders playing with pace and accuracy and fronted by two big strong fast powerful strikers left our team no pushovers
If we could only get 70/ 75 mins every week, I would be so delighted.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2018 15:50:35
Does Hendry start before any the other cbs?
BR clearly rates him but if he doesn't play would it have been better a deal like Morgan's.
Or better to train with a better standard of player getting settled in for the qualifiers?
What's your thoughts troops?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2018 16:26:31
I don't think he should be a guaranteed start and that is something I was looking for in a CB signing. To me he isn't as good as Aher or Simo, so it seems to be a signing in the project model once more.

We go into the Zenit game as is. I had hoped this wouldn't be the case. It may be with the emergence of Ajer that Rogers feels we didn't need to spend a £3-4m on a recognised starter. This also applies to the RB slot for me. Maybe he can play there?

It's over now and we need to get on with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2018 17:19:53
I think Hendry will be played at rb.

01 Feb 2018 19:48:37

Cheers Ed007 - once again - for all your time and effort over the past few 'windae' days (and all year long) covering all things Celtic.
I don't access other rumours sites, but I imagine this must be one of the busiest, with all the regular posters and live-chatters and I have seen a good few new 'members' joining the banter recently, so you must be doing something right.

01 Feb 2018 14:49:21
If a 16 year old player can't take the knocks then he shouldn't be playing first team football. You can't seriously expect Scott Brown to go in less hard for the ball just because a player is young.
These managers can't take defeat with any dignity, Hearts were outplayed on Tuesday night, why can't he just admit that the best team won, just as Brendan Rodgers did when we lost our unbeaten run there in December.

Overall really pleased with the window. CBs and a creative player were essential and we got both.

Really looking forward to seeing how the tema push on in the 2nd half of the season. Thought we were excellent against hearts especially the 1st half - shout out to Eboue in particular though he done really well for his first full 90 against a tough Hearts team.

Thought we might have loaned more players out such as Miller and Johnson, not sure how much game time these guys will get once everyone is fit. Also think Armstrong will struggle to get back into the team and McGregor too.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Feb 2018 12:14:04

Well Ed, I bet you're glad that the window is now closed and everyone can now focus on the 2nd half of the season.

I have to say I'm pleased with the club's dealings this window and I trust the decision making more than I ever have.

I've never understood this obsession with spending money just for the sake of it and this "project" talk. Most young players could be classed as that and if clubs in England want to spend obscene money snapping up young potential then that's up to them.

Hendry and Morgan could be fantastic and for hardly spending a fortune on them I am sure they will learn and develop around better players and with better facilities.

As you've said before with regards to Ajer, they're young players and we all need to accept mistakes will happen during a game but as fans we have a responsibility to support and encourage them not to get on their backs.

HH and thanks for all your good work as usual ED.

Most fans are pleased when window closes . A late bid may unsettle a player at any club .
Take poor Rangers who had bought four or five stars and held on to nearly everyone, when out of the blue there came a bid for a young star of the future . The. Bid was so secret that it a couple of days before Rangers knew who it was for . Rangers are still trying to keep this multi million pound secret and don't want to name player but admit the bid maybe from China . Dave King dined in a back street Chinese Restuarant this week, whichb seemed to verify China as bidding Country.

Nothing but credit for the Board for this window, something i found difficult to do previously. When you look at the bigger picture it's pretty easy to see we are in a good place, a well run club. We are definitely stronger than we were on January 1st. Looking forward to the second half of the season and winning the treble again.

I keep reading people's line ups on here and quite a lot seem to have Roberts walking straight into the team when fit.
Not for me Forrest has been arguably our best player all season even before paddy got injured. For me paddy will have to work very hard to take Forrests place.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

01 Feb 2018 11:00:28
Credit where it's due JF has had his best season in a Celtic shirt. PR, like any player returning, will have to earn and keep his place. But an up and running Roberts gets in ahead of Forrest all day long.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Feb 2018 11:14:16

01 Feb 2018 16:54:40
I agree that Forrest has had a great season and thus far has performed better than Roberts. However, I do think ROberts is a more talented player but agree that he will have to earn his place in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Feb 2018 10:59:27
IT doesn't matter if Roberts is better than Forrest all day long . What is important is what happens from the ref's whistle to start the match .
I think Roberts didn't want to commit himself permanently to Celtic as he wasn't sure in his own mind that B R would pick him over Forrest .
James has done a wonderful job under BR, despite abuse from stands and forums Forrest is having a second brilliant season .
How can people who attend Celtic games justify abusing some of our players?
Strange isn't?

OK guys, I want to make a prediction.
I strongly believe that Bain will become our No.1 keeper and will hold that position for many years to come. Am I right? Am I wrong? Time will tell but I have a feeling that's how it will end up.

He's not the biggest Mally as far as keepers go, you're right there. He is a fraction over 6ft. However look at Shay Given and others. Here's a bit copied from elsewhere:

There are exceptions like Iker Casilla, Viktor Valdez and David Ospina who barely make 6 feet but have still been successful in the big leagues. These goalkeepers were able to make up for their disadvantage in height by improving on their reaction time, positioning, jumping ability and decision making. That goes to show that with a strong work ethic, goalkeepers who are only a couple of inches below the average height can be successful. HH.

01 Feb 2018 00:51:23
For what it is worth, here is my take on the window and how we are set for going forward.

Weaker in GK department due to Gordon's injury. The only upside being that DDV has far better disribution and Bain may prove to be a blessing in disguise if he can perform.

No right back bought but hopefully Ralston can come back from injury and push for a starting place. Also hope Lustig was just needing a rest, which he will get while we play 3 at the back.

Hopeful that Comper can make us more solid and glad we held onto Jozo. Also have more cover with Hendry coming in at the close of the window.

Left back we are sorted as long as Tierney stays fit.

Midfield we look like we have plenty of strong options and still have Armstrong to come back. Hoping he recaptures last season's form after he has his operation.

We have plenty of attacking options and are looking formidable in that department.

Roberts Musonda Sinclair

Dembele

will get plenty of goals and I doubt any team in the SPL can cope with that fire power. Hell I doubt they could cope with

Forrest Rogic Johnstone

Griffiths

So while I would still like cover at LB, a new RB and GK, I think we have came out of the window stronger. Now add to that the fact the players got a much earned rest in the winter break, I am confident we will tear it up in the business end of the season.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know what the hold up in the announcement is, Allan's signed for Hibs so it could just be paperwork, we've got until midnight to lodge it.}

I see on the SLY Celtic website we have signed Hendry and Bain and added to Compper, Morgan and Musonda that must be the busiest bit of January business we have ever done?
It doesn't say anything about loaning Hendry back and I would have been disappointed if we had loaned two new arrivals back out.
Another bonus must be that no star players left the club; considering the rumours for the past months about Armstrong, Dembele, Rogic and Simunovic. That must be a real sickener for our detractors and foes.
With Roberts, Rogic, Ralston and Armstrong hopefully recovering soon, we will be stronger than ever - and wait 'til Griff gets back!
