There has been no punishments actually for old or new Rangers. Oldco had absolutely no punishments against it for any of the terrible things it did and new club were treated like any other entering association football with no accounts, footballing history, etc,. It's about time there were some kind of punishments.
Some deluded probably think TUPE rights of employees not to join a new club is some kind of punishment but that's just plain silly.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Old Rangers wrongfully registered players for 11 years of the last 12 of the SPL. They were wrongfully awarded five titles and this extremely serious situation begs correction.
In addition to withdrawing the titles, there has to be some sort of punishment for having done the dastardly deed in the first place.
Thereafter, to maintain the integrity of the competition, the titles should be awarded to the runners up. Those clean players, paying the PAYE and NI deserve their medals.

Agree4 Disagree0

Had rangers declared the payments then it wouldn't of been a breach if the rules. Who here wouldn't openly admit to wanting to avoid paying tax?

Agree0 Disagree2

But they did it. They deliberately and knowingly withheld documentation required for the correct registration of players.

This new Rangers Monopoly¦

When you buy a property, do you actually own it all or is there a floating charge over it held by someone but nobody knows quite who?

Does it have New Kent Rd(since everythings new), Whitechurch (since the hordes can't bear the sight of the word ˜chapel'), Lord Marlborough, The Strained, Bond Issue St, Celtic Park Lane and Itsnofair?

Does the set of 4 stations include the one serving Ibrox that's not been built yet?

¦and instead of ˜street repairs', does one of the Chance cards read, ˜you are assessed for asbestos remediation repairs'¦?

¦and instead of just ˜pay income tax £100², does one of the Community Chest cards read, ˜pay all your debts of £134m'?

Careful of Bow St as there's a magistrates court there.

And careful of Pentonville ¦ Mr Whyte.
A post from Paul McConville's site that might amuse somebody.

hi ed, I thought lots of good things came out of yesterday! Six months ago its hard to imagine celtic being able to turn down what norwich were offering yesterday. A lot has changed in That time, not only for the club but also for Gary Hooper. You have stated several times that he asked to leave then! Perhaps understandably! The impending doom surrounding the spl then must have made this season look like something worth avoiding for him. 6 months on The league has changed due the absence of oldco and we don't have those 4 blockbusters to look forward to. He has i'm sure had his eyes opened a bit by the champions league adventure. don't think many people would have thought we'd get this far. I don't see him wanting to leave for a club where he will never experience that again. As we discussed last week it will be interesting to see what occurs once his agent changes. He must have felt very wanted by celtic yesterday and i'm not convinced that he won't sign the right deal if it allows him to go if the right club for him comes calling, or that he will leave if mr hodgson decided to cap him. I just hope he can stay injury free and at his best between now and the summer. Couldn't believe how desperate sly and DR were to punt him though. cheers andybhoy {Ed007's Note - Thanks Andy. As every transfer window passes more and more people are waking up to the fact that Sly are actually on a televised rumours site tied into their betting arm, how many of their 'Sly sources understand' stories actually come to fruition? I actually gave up watching when I seen Jim White wasn't on the roof to jump! I have heard that Peter Odimwingie's agent has mentioned the part Sly played in yesterday's fiasco.}

What you Bhoys think of Independence? I'll defo be voting yes. We'll have a better standard of living than the rest of the UK if we do it. Alba gu bràth! FifeBhoy1888

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Love to see it happen but it would need to be total division from the UK. This half assed nonsense Salmond preaches is laughable. Then their is the financial aspect, namely where will the money come from to run the show? Please don't say OIL! Inside a year they would be Fracking the highlands apart. If the country agree to it it should be a long, maybe five years, period of getting the set up right. Oh, and as an aside, you can say goodbye to Catholic schools. . green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree3

Don't buy into that mate, 30% of workforce work for the public sector, and last thing we need is more politicians

Agree4 Disagree2

I've been looking into this as obviously it's a very important vote.

I don't really agree with this having our own Parliament, Laws and Legal system, if we are going to be Independent then it should not be this half-hearted affair it is just now with Westminster having the fiscal and economic powers.

Lets face it, when the UK Government talk about Economic growth, they mean London and the South East. Scotland seems to be only here to be the guinea pig for Poll Tax etc.

I believe one of the arguments against Independence is there a gap between spending and revenue in Scotland but if the gap exists why are English Politicians so keen to hang onto Scotland?

Britishness is on its way out and I'll be voting YES ~ Mrs E

Agree9 Disagree1

Look at it this way. What does England bring to the table with regards to manufacturing? Least Scotland has oil, whiskey also brings in millions. I say vote yes and go it alone

Agree6 Disagree1

I agree with jehdi's last sentence, will we as a religion get a fair crack of the whip. we are still being asked what school we went to or what team we support when we go for a job, do you think this will get better with independence?. Remember the guy that assaulted Neil at Tynecastle, where was the justice there.

Agree1 Disagree3

Oil revenues (and gas) does not cover the expenditure required each year in Scotland. Almost every county in Scotland, the two highest employers are the council and the NHS. Both requiring funded by tax earned where? These counties are in serious and negative equity. As is the nation.

Agree0 Disagree3

Jhedi, catholic schools are not soley catholic anymore anyway. I pick up my grand kids from the local catholic school. none of my kids are catholic. there are indian, pakistani, chinese, thai. there must be at least 8 different denominations coming out of those gates. and that is simply because they are better schools with better disipline. shammy

Agree1 Disagree0

@Shammy; I was not making the point as a catholic mate, I am an atheist, but more about State control. This was a major selling point for the SNP of around twenty - Thirty years ago to garner the larger protestant vote. People should be free to educate their kids in whatever way they choose. . . green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

Everyoe seems to be harping on about gas and oil do you not realise that once upon a time the great british government sold the rites in the north sea to the highest bidder we don't own anything up there now all an independent scotland could perhaps get is the tax and vat also things like national gold deposits were sold off when it was at its lowest price because of the recession aswell, of course we all would love to be an independent country but i'm afraid it just doesn't add up folks, shipyards would close all english and foreign businesses would pull out england would see to that { remember they have bigger unemployment issues than us }

Agree0 Disagree2

@9. that's not really true.

The offshore industry delivers huge sums of tax money to the Treasury - possibly as much as £54bn in the next six years and is not something Westminster would happily give up.

At the same time, Alex Salmond knows how much north sea oil could do for the Scottish economy - Norway's oil-fuelled state pension fund hit the 3 trillion kroner (£324bn) mark in 2010.

Billions of barrels of oil have been pumped from the North Sea since the mid-70s and it is believed between 25 and 30 billion could still be recovered over the next 40 years.

During the 70's, a period of significant oil discoveries in the north sea, the UK government of the day did consider a suggestion to buy the north sea's major fields from BP.

This was ruled out largely because of concerns over state interference.

The only argument with North Sea oil is designating Scottish & English waters ~ Mrs E

Agree3 Disagree0

To the posts what does England bring to the table, we should be asking what really does Scotland bring to the table.
I'm Scottish with Irish decent, but the only decent argument I've heard is we will qualify for money from Europe like Spain etc. which to me is pathetic.
Oil revenue is tied up and we would become a begging country and I would consider going abroad if this was to happen, because Scotland alone is nothing but a wee bitter, bigoted country. jj

Agree2 Disagree4

Ive lived in england 30 odd years. so don't really have a say, but all things considered I would say yes. its always better to be able to make up your own mind about everything. here in the north of england they could do with a bit more say as well. in truth the part of the uk which has gained most independence is london. its becoming like a city state. everybody in the uk needs to wake up to the massive transference of resources currently going on. go for it scotland i'd say. I mean you wouldn't want to let your next door neighbour run your life just because he's got a bigger hoose!
yorkiebhoy.

Agree3 Disagree0

JJ. in the West of Scotland there is a mindset that wants you to believe that.

Scotland as a whole is not a 'wee bitter bigoted Country' and its deeply insulting to assume that. How many voters do you think there are in Scotland? I can guarantee the large majority of them are neither bitter nor biggoted.

Good article from a sane rangers fan.

www. wsc. co. uk/wsc-daily/1156-january-2013/9342-rangers-boycott-of-dundee-united-is-poorly-timed

Rangers' boycott of Dundee United is poorly timed
Club are blaming the wrong people
31 January ~ So much for the Cup providing a big day out for lower-league fans. On Saturday Rangers face their hardest fixture of the campaign, their first away match to an SPL club since re-forming, with no backing. Rangers supporters' groups initiated a boycott of the Scottish Cup trip to Dundee United and Ibrox chief executive Charles Green, who attended his first Rangers match last May, quickly made it official. The stated reason is United chairman Stephen Thompson's vocal opposition to the new Rangers company entering the SPL last summer.
There's also United's refusal to refund gate money for a previous SPL meeting abandoned at half time due to weather conditions. I can't remember what anyone else in Scotland was saying last summer as I was too busy listening to the sound of my club being liquidated. However, I did hear fellow Rangers fans declaring themselves happy to "serve our time" in the lower leagues. I also remember us taking our usual 5,000-7,000 to Tannadice a few times between the abandoned match of November 2009 and liquidation in 2012. The timing of this action seems as flawed as the reasoning behind it. ¨¨
United fans threatened to boycott season ticket sales if their board voted the Rangers newco into the SPL. This threat angered many Rangers fans but choosing to imitate it seems the crassest way of registering your objection. The match is live on TV, so the home club will make a profit regardless. And surely the best way to annoy United, who've been shipping goals all season and lost their manager on Monday, is by denying them the further riches of the semi-final and final. Rangers already bridged the gap between Scotland's bottom and top flights with September's League Cup defeat of Motherwell. The last thing United fans wanted is half their tight, 14,000-capacity stadium turned into a celebration of what the SPL is missing. ¨¨
A new Ibrox habit of applauding opponents off the pitch speaks of the humility displayed by many bluenoses since the club re-formed. Erroneous tax case blogs, Scottish football's internecine governing bodies, opposing fans and chairmen expressing their democratic right to uphold sporting integrity; none of these things liquidated Rangers yet they remain the focus of a vengeful, misplaced campaigning ire among large sections of the support.
¨¨Green, who recently raised over £22 million of investment through a share issue, eases his tenure by pandering to the angriest noises. Simultaneously, this veneer of empathy “ also adopted by the infamous Craig Whyte while he drove the old Rangers into the ground “ guarantees plenty of free advertising for the brand via tabloid headlines.
United have retained a section for away fans, Rangers will donate their share of gate receipts to charity. When home punters don Whyte masks to mock the few hundred boycott-breakers it may seem like the inevitable result of the scattergun bitterness which enabled Rangers' liquidation “ staying away from your team because your anger needs you more. Some of us hope it's actually the end of Rangers blaming others for our own problems. And that there's a replay. Alex Anderson

There are many proper fans who feel like this, it could be my mate writing it, who are getting sick of the whole situation. I posted a couple of weeks ago my own mate bought a season ticket for him and his boy this season, he thought the whole new rangers thing might mean an end to the worst part of the old. Between green and a certain section of the support he is fed up with the persecution nonsense being pedalled around ibrox. A telling piece though I thought. . . green jhedi

Agree5 Disagree1

Fair play to the guy. In all honesty though, how much praise can you give someone for basically using common sense?

The part about Rangers still going in large numbers to tannadice for 3 years after the ticket fiasco is constantly rubber eared by the zombies. I've asked a few of them that and got nothing but mumbles back.

They're a joke, its as simple as that. Stumbling about looking for a leader/speaker to show them who to boycott next. They're not interested in why, or in looking for the reasons why themselves. Sheep! Angry sheep!

Agree3 Disagree0

To be honest, I would love it if there was a replay! I am sure there wouldn't be a boycott then! So would be nice to see if the Arabs would get paid this time, as I am sure they are still waiting for half the gate from last seasons 14000 gate at ibrox! But hopefully be some good coin for United!

This is a quote from HMV administrators.

Administrator for Deloitte, Nick Edwards, later said: "Since our appointment as administrators over two weeks ago, we have been assessing the financial position of HMV.

"Following this review, a number of redundancies at the head office and distribution centres have been made.

"Although such decisions are always difficult, it is a necessary step in restructuring the business to enhance the prospects of securing its future as a going concern. "

So what happened with old rangers and redundacies.

Ian

Believable6 Unbelievable2

It was the strangest administration ever seen. The norm is to straight away cut your outgoings and try and trade your way to good fiscal health. Redundancies and selling off any owned property and plant are the first to go. The more that comes out it starts to look like an orchestrated attempt to dodge debt and sell the business close to liquidation. Green should not have had anything to buy, there should have been a valuation on the break up value of piebrox and the potential for a land sale at Murray park. None of this happened. The findings of BDO will be very interesting when that is published but you might be talking years yet. The whole thing stinks to high heaven. . . green jhedi

Agree8 Disagree3

Barry the janny

how has HMRC sat back and allowed this to happen, I would of thought that an asset would of been sold off to pay creditors, ie murray park, asbestos arena?. I read somewhere you could not buy your company car for buttons as this was a breach of liquidation rules, but you can buy an asbestos arena and green belt land for buttons,, i'm confused

Agree3 Disagree1

Nope not the strangest ever seen. there are plenty of crooked administrations. It all depends on what the real agenda is. In Rangers case the agenda was clearly to protect whyte/murrey against a £50million tax liability and while we're at it shaft a few creditors along the way. Then come out the other side as "the same club"

Be interesting to see who really owns Ibrox

Agree3 Disagree1

Barry Liquidators/Administrators can do what they like. however they can be called to account by creditors if they think they have behaved incorrectly. Sounds good in theory but the reality is that it takes loads of cash and years to get a decision. In the mean time the recipient can have the car and in 4- 5 years time say OK have the car back then.

Never mind Rangers, our Administration and liquidation laws are a scandal

Agree1 Disagree0

D&P were definitely part of the agenda, being Whyte appointed, which newspapers at the time said was strange as the admin should have been independently appointed and the court of session was not following liquidation law rules.
I'm concerned regarding some of the quotes being attributed to BDO also.

Agree1 Disagree0

This stinks to the high heavens. They weren't interested in continuing and liquidation was the goal.

Could someone answer me this, though: who would buy ibrox or Murray park? Cash flow is low in all areas in business just now. Don't think selling would have got them too far, but getting rid of staff should have been first stop

So ED, another transfer window gone. What did you make of it. I'm disappointed we didn't sign a good forward to help us defeat Juve. Delighted we kept big VIC, not sure about the Hooper situation though. We have to build a team for Europe. Lets face facts, our league form has been very average and we're still out of sight. I hate this buying of players at the last minute. Players need time to settle into accommodation, surroundings, gel with new team mates etc. In an ideal world all out signings should be in situ by start of pre season training 2013 not 31st August 2013. I feel that by the time they settle a quarter of a season is over and Europe could be a memory.

Bad Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - I think the major objective of the window was to hold onto our best players, we have done that and added a couple of players. Overall I am happy the way things went although I would have liked an attacking/flair player brought in to add some spark to the MF.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Celtic have not bought a "Name" player for a few years. Unless you count the likes of Ljungberg. Wanyama Hooper Ledly Mathews Wilson Mulgrew Izzy Lustig etc were all realative obscure. A bit like Gershorn and Rogic.

I got told today that Liverpool enquired about Big Vic late on in the day yesterday. Was the customer talking BS ed?

We sent out a job message in the handling of Gary hooper given he has only 18months remaining. I'm glad we didn't sell him now- the temptation to must have been huge.

We could pull in less than we were offered this window but have taken a robust stance showing that we will only sell on our terms.

Hooper has done very well for us, as we have him, but he signed the contract, the bottom line is the guy loves scoring goals and will continue to do so for us for whatever time he's here. The prospect of a move will be motivation for him also.

We may lose some value from hooper but it has shown clubs interested in the other players that they need to be serious if they want them anytime before we are ready to part with them. I'm really happy about that.

Did the Noring deal get finalised ed?

morning folks - quite pleased with this window in all, I think we all expected the biggest battle would be to keep our best players rather than trying to convince players to sign for us. the two (or has the swedish keeper actually signed? in that case three) players we have brought in will hopefully provide us with the extra options we've lacked at points this season, and if the hype is to be believed rogic could prove to be a total steal. i'm still resigned to the fact we'll end up losing hooper and wanyama this summer, so I was just wondering who realistically you think we could replace them with eventually? charlie austin seems to be a popular choice for a forward although I do still wish we'd made a sly bid for chris wood before he went to leicester - at £1 mil I think they'll easily make money on him in the future and he's played great whenever i've seen him. as for a midfielder - any thoughts on wilson palacios? he's basically been frozen out at stoke. found this article online (i know there are issues with posting links on here so I hope this is ok):

www. eplindex. com/21727/the-curious-case-of-wilson-palacios-stats-analysis. html

tenuous link I know, but given his nationality maybe izzy could try and sway him? seems that he's never been given a proper chance for stoke despite how well his stats match up against their other midfielders. doubt he'd cost the earth either! hope you all have a cracking weekend, roll on ale o'clock. kevslug.

Looking forward to seeing the boy Rogic in action as well as the return of Stokes.

Is it true mccoist attended the meeting of the sfl clubs today to make sure that the reconstruction plans did not happen? It seems he delivered a speech in a bid to sway the vote. I was under the impression that this club did not have voting rights. It seems his powers may be on the wane as it was voted through convincingly. So we have them still owing football debts, awaiting the Nimmo results, Taking players through court regarding TUPE contracts transfer, the sfa informing the eca that all is well down piebrox way and their manager allowed to stick his face into a meeting where he should not be allowed to vote! Is it just me or is this not getting ridiculous? If Nimmo finds they are guilty, and I can't see how he cannot considering they were found guilty in some EBT cases, I wonder what soft penalty the sfa will dream up? Oh, that's right, the sfa gave them a kicking did they not!. . . . green jhedi {Ed007's Note - By the time the bell went for playtime he had done an Elvis and left the building GJ. The FTTT findings have absolutely no legal effect on the registration of players question. In fact if FTTT decided that players EBTs were ok for tax purposes, its even more reason they should NOT have been hidden from SPL and SFA during registration.
