Awright Everybody, Good point tonight, 10 players making their champions league debuts. Scott Brown has grown into an excellent Celtic captain. Did anybody think Miku looked as of he was on holiday tonight and not on loan? Thought at times he didn't really look interested. Ian L

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Are you kidding me... Miku had a great game we just didn't get him the ball enough, he had good passes and ran one of thier players almost out of the stadium cause the guy was scared so he just kicked it out. Not sure if it was always miku but we made them kick the ball out a lot deep in thier end, think you need to watch the match again to see how good miku's touches were cause he won the ball like every time it was near him and pressured thier d the while game. ED007, just back from game, draw just about right, another clean sheet in
europe 5 in a row, not bad. Like all the rest I feel Izzy needs a rest, as
does Brown and Forrest who are still carrying knocks.
On Saturday, play Ambrose, Lassad, Miku and young Watt to give some players a rest and to see what these players
are like. Timalloy
PS coming back from game driving down Paisley Road West, saw a new shop/restaurant? where the old Clachan bar used to be.
It's name? LISBON! so well done to that super optimist for naming it that
yards from Ibrokes....

Forrest is getting tedious with the "hands to head" display when either losing the ball through lack of enterprise or plain simply being poor on ball. This is fastly becoming a serious flaw in his game. Tonight was another display which was sub standard yet NL continues to play him. Going back to last season n the killie game I can count on 1 hand good displays by the boy. Emilo, where do we start? Being brutally honest he has just not recovered from the ankle break last year n is a shadow of the player we signed. Personally, I'd drop him indefinitely until there was drastic signs of improvement. Play one of the u-19s or CM or a back 3 in SPL.
On a positive note, broony was class tonite n wanyama held things together.
I just wonder if the signing policy haunts some within paradise tonight with 3 recognised forwards out injured n we only bring in last minute players which I doubt were high on our target list. Stevo dundee

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Your comments on game tonight were good, but. Thought you were a bit hard on Forrest as he didn't get the service and was doing a lot of running also thought the same about Commons. Hope Hooper gets over his injury soon he will make a difference, looked ok after comming on as sub.

Agree2 Disagree0

I saw them worry of forest and so he always had 2-3 guys around him and he didn't have good room to run and not too much of the ball, but he could have raised his game.

1.) Players seem to lack the confidence to take on opposing players - anyone comes near them the ball gets pased back or lumped up the park - Black likes to pirouette in midfield before passing it back, reminds me of Paul McStay.

I don't count myself as one of the so called paranoid Celtic fans. However the negative spin the Scottish bbc news put on the latest financial figures was dumbfounding. All that was missing was a cracked Celtic crest and chic young coming in his pants as he described the crisis at Celtic park. To be fair it did flash up the 20m Cl money for a millisecond. No mention of the Ki money. No interview with Peter Lawell to lay bare the rude health that Celtic are in due to good leadership and financial prudence. The debt is so small it isn't even a story. Strange piece to say the least.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

What the figures do illustrate is that without CL revenue, or selling a top player each season, Celtic are operating on a very tight margin percentage. If there was no Ki sale or CL revenue in next years financials, there would be another loss which is a bit of a concern.

Agree0 Disagree4

That is the business model. We pick up good young players cheap, hope they become top players at Celtic, and move them on for a tidy profit. We have taken a lot from the wage bill too. In the interests of consistency i hope this time next year the bbc news is gushing in its reporting of the bumper financial figures released.

Agree4 Disagree0

BBC Alba covered the Sevco5088 historical loss at Ibrox to QOtS. But they remarkably didn't make a big deal about the new club failing at home in their first competition. History being made.

whats everyones views on the startin 11 the night ? imo if ambrose starts personally i would start charlie at lb and push izzy 1 up into lm coz tbh a hink he looks pretty suspect defendin so ma team would be
forster,matthews,wilson,ambrose,charlie,forrest,brown.wanyama,izzy,commons,hooper
dunno if any 1 will agree

Both hooper and izzy have been brutal lately but with sammi, stokesy injured and the 2 new strikers not 100% match fit we will have to start with hooper personally i would start young watt.

Gotta admit when we qualified for the CL i thought we might not be ready for this kinda test. This is a young team entering the killing fields of football,as we saw last night in Real v City, switch off for a moment and your caught. Were also missing big players and, outwith Europe, have not been playing well.Big victor is vital,he has been shoddy in losing possession lately, and Broony will need to keep him on his toes.So why do i feel a wave of confidence now? Benfica are not great travellers and i think we might be able to get at them.I swear if Forrest chucks it to wave his arms to the ref i will invade the pitch and kick his ass! He might be the key here.Defend well and get at them at every opportunity, and lets bring the thunder! My team?
Forster
Matthews Wilson Rogne Izzy
Wanyama Mulgrew
Forrest Brown Commons
Hooper
Forrest and Commons have to be disciplined and remember they have to defend as well as push on.Hooper i would give one half and tell him to work on the central defenders not drop deep leaving us nowt up front,if he does not do it then Watt's speed might be vital later on.ED; hope the legs better mate not posted for a while as i was in hospital myself for a while, all good now, fingers crossed!........green jhedi

Hey Green Jhedi, just returned from my travels in time to witness Sally get his "chips" from Ramsdens.
Your team tonight is exactly what I was thinking, move Mulgrew into midfield as we will need extra cover in there.
What has happened to our own ED007? is he OK? Timalloy
PS ED001 great to see the Everton fans tribute to the 96 and good also to hear Fergie condemn the morons...
PPS ED001 did you miss me? Expect a few "wee Pat" type postings tomorrow after I go to game tonight. {Ed001's Note - I expect no less of Everton, rivals they may be, but it is mostly a friendly rivalry.}

Charles Green - The words that seem to have upset the SFA so much are that the SPL appoint the jury set the outcome and set the punishment before the trial those things are true and I stand by them.
Whether or not the commission works to that agenda remains to be seen, but let's be clear there was a predetermined outcome'

So this jury of The Right Honourable Lord Nimmo Smith who has served as a judge in the Court of Session and the High Court and is a Privy Counsellor so his opinion is good enough for the Queen. He was schooled at Eton before studying classics at Balliol College, Oxford

Charles Flint QC is one of the most respected experts in sports law in Britain, having acted as an advisor and an arbitrator in a series of complex and high-profile cases.

Nicholas Stewart QC has been a Deputy High Court Judge in England for over two decades. He, too, is an internationally renowned authority on sports law and arbitration.

The SPL have had the nerve to tell his Lordship and the QCs that their time will be deliberately wasted during the Rangers/undisclosed payments hearings because the whole thing has been decided in advance. Guilty verdict and penalties all done and dusted, pre-judged by the SPL itself before Nimmo Smith does what he's told and puts it in writing.

Lord Nimmo Smith, Flint and Stewart among the finest legal minds in Britain are at the head of the SPL's 'Mickey Mouse' investigation (Charles Green's words) and its 'kangaroo court' (Sir David Murray)

Hey, fellow Jim-bob's,

I'm in turmoil, I have an inner conflict! Last night I had an epiphany. The Rangers are screwed, yet I do miss their lot - I miss my OF games. I love it when we pump them, absolutely love it.

I also love it when lower league teams pump them, and pump them deservedly! I actually switched over from the Real-City game to watch the penalties of that blockbuster at Ibrox after getting the heads up from a pal via a prompt phone call. I could feel it in ma p*sh they would go out and it felt pure magic when this was realised.

However, on one hand, I want them to be back in the SPL as soon as possible, yet on the other, I cast my mind back to 9IAR, 1994, Lou Macari, Liam Brady, etc, and I think, Naw! Screw them, this is karma!

So, I hope you understand my predicament and can offer some words of clarity so I can move on with my life!

Anyways, good luck to the young Bhoys tonight, I don't know what to expect. We have a young side full of potential, is that enough for this campaign?

Who knows, but you need to be in it to win it so fair play to them for getting there. What will be will be, so best of luck to the Bhoys. One thing's for sure, there will be no lack of support and I, for one, can't wait to sample this atmosphere again.

Hail Hail!

Miko {Ed001's Note - I was about to take issue with you backing Young Boys, until I saw you said tonight and realised we don't play them until tomorrow night!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha, should've been Hearts - they were robbed!

Miko {Ed001's Note - they couldn't score without our keeper's help! To be fair we never had to get out of first gear due to their lack of a cutting edge.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Miko, good to hear from you. I am back from Boston refreshed and eager to go again. Going to Celtic Park tonight to see the bhoys win LOL Timalloy
PS sorry ED001 I think your LFC manager Brendan Rogers is another AVB
bigheaded, full of his own importance and not able to change tactics mid game {Ed001's Note - no need to change tactics, that is for poor teams who aren't good enough to win. If you play possession well, then it wins, why change? Liverpool dominated for years using the exact same system, then Barca started using it and have dominated in recent years. It is all about keeping the ball and forcing your opponent to chase the game for 80min, then they are tired and there for the taking in the last few. Last thing you want to do is change tactics when you have them on the rack!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Tim, hope you're well!

Let's hope the young lads can pull it off! This campaign will be tough.

Great to have these nights back at CP, they're unrivalled!

Hail Hail!

According to Sly Spots 'Rangers' lost their first game of the season last night. No Banner headlines or Jim -smug fud -Whyte in the QOS dressing room popping bubbly. No ex-players being called up and asked about crisis or humiliation or what a 'silly billy' their manager is?
Like the Anon - sorry Annan result it's all very quiet apart from 'yer drunk uncle' - Charlie G making another complete haw maws of himself blethering Bullsh*t and making them an even bigger joke.
Long may it continue......until they go bust AGAIN.

Sevco5088's Chico slimy Green deflecting tonights historical loss by mouthing off in a BBC article tonight about the latest SFA charge. Digging a bigger hole.

A very positive set of financial results. All the doom mongers talking in the summer about debt being 10-15 million unfounded. How many top flite clubs can boast about only being 2.7million in debt. Add to this the for this season the sale of Ki, the wage bill being trimmed severely and champions league football we will be in the black this time next year by about 10 million. Then we can spend.
Kevbhoyo

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Where does the 2.7 million come from folks?

I thought it was around 7 mil debt?

Thanks
Wilkiecfc

Agree0 Disagree0

Seven million trading loss isn't debt. We spent more than we brought in but our left over debt was under £3m. This is up to June. Doesn't include summer player sales or income from CL games.
