I wonder if we are witnessing the second best manager in our history. Not just because of the double treble but for the vision he shows moving forward. Watching his press conference today he is ambitious, humble and clearly loves our club and particularly our supporters. He is a class act in the way he conducts himself and promotes our club. I feel privileged to have been at Hampden to witness both trebles being achieved but I am sure there is still much more to come. Hopefully 10 iar will be part of his legacy.

Rewatching the game at home and laughing at Big Eck and the internal struggle he went through when he had to compliment Celtic. He's an absolute disgrace. Undermined the dominance at every opportunity.

But I have got to say, Boyata was fantastic. I know he's had a lot of stick this season but in the run in, he's shown massive signs of improvement that I think warrant a new deal.

People have slated him for mistakes he's made, which I don't think should happen to any player in the hoops, but even in the last few games people have been saying he's not been good enough. My question is, what do people want from him? Slated for the mistakes but not praised for the improvements.

It just seems imbalanced to me.

But on a brighter note, DOUBLE TREBLE.

Long may the dominance continue, Hail Hail.

{Ed007's Note - Big Dedryck's been immense the last few weeks and I noticed today a couple of times he just stroke the ball out of play for a throw-in keeping it nice and simple to allow the defence get back and regroup rather than be silky and try and take on the attacker and risk the mistake like we've seen in the past, it's when he starts to think he makes mistakes.
And only 5 goals less than Rogic for the season (giggle)

19 May 2018 20:52:37
He was calm and composed today and like you said, the last few weeks. I think if the club showed a bit of faith and offered him a new deal, he could be like a new signing. He seems to be growing up and maturing as a player.

He's a threat from set pieces as well like you say.

I like and rate him. He's been in the Belgium squad a few times now and you just have to look at the players they have right now to see what big praise that is for him and for Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I rate him as long as he keeps it simple, leave the Beckenbauer stuff to Ajer.}

19 May 2018 20:57:22
Aye Boyata has been good but did use noticed that when the ball was punted up to main we had Brown in front of Main and Boyata behind Main when going for header double teaming the Main threat great tactics from Rodgers.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2018 21:40:01
Thought Boyata was immense also. Like you say ED he done the simple things today. I think one of the best signings we could make this summer would be a top class defensive coach as Jozo and Boyata have shown how good they can be and there is talent there in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We don't need another coach, Malky, if there isn't anyone on our staff that can organise a defence by now Rodgers should be criticised for it. Danny McGrain, John Kennedy AND Kolo Toure are all at the Club and Rodgers and Chris Davies are experienced enough. Instead of hiring a new defensive coach spend put his wages towards a quality CB that can play alongside Ajer for some games to keep him learning and maybe help Boyata feel more confident and keep progressing if he stays in games they're chosen together.}

19 May 2018 21:51:41
Ed, couldn't agree more. Ajer is magnificent. Another season of that pairing would be fantastic if they both continue on this track. Obviously an experienced CB coming in would help them both but I really think this could be a strong partnership.

I think a lot of fans are overlooking the fact that only two of the starting 11 were not here when BR came in. This need to spend money like it's burning a hole in their pocket is the wrong move for me. We do need to bring in some quality but only to compliment that which we already have.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've all been saying it for years, we need to invest in quality before quantity and Rodgers knows the squad needs strengthening for Europe. For me we still need to trim the squad while improving the overall quality which isn't an easy task.}

19 May 2018 22:51:02
Not incorrect. Frivolous spending is our worst enemy. BR knows what he needs and where to invest.

I'd be happy with a CB and cover for KT if we kept our current squad. I'd even look to get Izzy back.

If SA doesn't stay, I'd like a box to box midfielder brought in.

For me, getting Rogic 90 minute fit is a priority. If he can play a full game in Europe, teams are in trouble.

Tweaking rather than an overhaul is what is needed for progression.

Tbhe deals being made now are excellent for the future and show the right intent for me.

Congratulations another memorable season .
Most important thing for next season is when we do qualify for Champions league, we don't draw two Champions League Giants . There are easier draws available than we got in the last two yrs and hopefully we get an easy one .

Just one plea, don't be too quick to write a player off . Boyata was ropey in his
first game back after injury but he has improved every game and is now a v good centre half.

In order to continue to get better on the CL stage demands a couple of quality additions. Boyata has been playing really well, but it’s his curse of unforced errors that we need to protect ourselves from. If he has serious competition for the position he might get even better, thevfact remaibs we cannot only hope this happens. We need to be covered if it doesn’t.

We need a top CB a RB and depending on who leaves possibly another strong creative midfielder. We cannot afford to stand still. Nobody is expecting us to go mad, but we all know that our real testing ground is the CL.

Get that right and we will ragdoll anything at home, particularly the Deluded. Rogers hit the nail on the head with his, it’s not the punches to the head but that pats on the back that kill us.

Spot on.

Let’s enjoy this but see it as the start of something, and that something is to be able to take to the CL without fear of humiliation. That requires a better defence. Competition for places is vital. In the end it’s up to the players to ensure they start.

It’s up to Rogers to make sure the calibre of player required to defend against great teams is there.

A few excellent performances from Boyata is great to see as I do think there is a player there. To keep improving him and us he needs competition. If he comes out on top fine. That’s his battle, ours is to improve and if you haven’t got it that’s part of the game. Rogers knows he can’t be handed his arse the way we were last year.

He will fix it.

The only thing the Let’s Go rangers shout will be useful for is when we are trouncing them and their hordes say that to each other before going back to their pubs to talk about how much they hate Tim’s.

For it is written.

Treble Treble anyone?

That’s coincidently my favourite Malt measure.

20 May 2018 18:29:00
Boyata has the makings of a top class defender. I think previously he just relied on his pace to get him out of trouble and this in turn means he wasn't always switched on. He looks imo to be enjoying his football at the moment. Remember his age and the fact the defence has never been as settled as it is currently. I understand what BR sees in him, I hope he stays as we need a settled back four.

Enjoy tonight folks.

Haven't posted for a long time but had to check back in to mark this day. What a joy and pleasure it is to watch such a professional side.

Some may take days and seasons like this for granted, but having come through the Brady and Macari eras this really fills me with the utmost joy. Make no mistake, this is special.

Congratulations to the team and management and I hope everyone enjoys their day.

Under Brendan Rodgers Celtic have played seventeen cup games winning all of them scoring 58 and conceding only 6 truly remarkable, and the sports writers didn’t think it merited manager of the year, how sad. oldkilly.

Apparently every year now the manager who wins the championship automatically wins manager of the year? Another farce that is but we all know who the boss is in Scottish football our Brendan! The pair ripping out of the Sevcoites is hilarious their claims of Stevie g string is coming to get us are even better than the great warbo and his magic hat. And who can forget the bull fighting James Bond in agent Pedro? Can’t wait for the new season to start to again put the embarrassment of a club from Govan in their place once and for all? 🙂🍀⚽️🏆🏆🏆.

Can anybody imagine a Scotland that Walter Smuth qualifies for the CL, got out of the group, won a double Treble and didn’t win it out of sight?

Fecking scandellous but it shows you how much the bigoted barstewards are hurting.

If Watty had achieved that, everyone of those pricks whose hatred of us prevented them voting for Rogers, would have been calling for the Cardigan being knighted.

Let’s increase that pain as a way to say, GIRFUY all.

RAW I’m tempted to order ‘7 pints of Guinness in a row and 2 treble Jameson’s back to back please’ tonight but I think I’d be doing Stevie G string impersonations and falling on my arse! PS: Motherwell won’t just be turning up or easy beat today they’ve a good manager and can mix it. If there is one player that needs a blinder today it’s Broon.

Question for you all: would BR entertain 2 up top given the right personnel? If so, what would our midfield and defence look like?

I'm thinking a solid back 3 would be a start, but can't see how KT would fit in there except perhaps in the midfield (not something I'd want) . Broony plays deeper these days, and has a number of years left; but I think Biton or Kouassi might deputise. I can't see Scotty fighting himself back into the starting 11 sadly.

19 May 2018 10:30:25
Anytime I've seen dembele and edouard play together they have been brilliant. They seem to compliment each other so if they are both here next year which is very doubtful id build our formation around them 2. For me KT could easily play left side of a back 3 which still gives him some freedom going forward but preferably keep him on the left of a back 4 for me. I wouldn't mind seeing us play a 4 1 3 2 with a narrow diamond in mid field and have tierney and another attacking rwb bombing forward. 2 up top with 2 forwards who compliment each other and you can't go wrong. That's just my opinion though!?!

I've really liked watching Edouard since he arrived and agree with cavalcanti that he offers a lot more than goals for the team.
It would be fantastic to sign him as he will only get better and seems to love playing for Celtic so win-win.
Shame he misses out at Hamden as he would have contributed a lot.
