So, should we get past Rosenborg the best 5 teams we could face will be:

BATE Borisov
Legia Warsaw
APOEL
Maribor
Qarabag

Nice trip to Cyprus perhaps? Just to mix it up a bit.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Jul 2017 00:58:01
I only really fancy Maribor there. Surprised BATE aren't seeded, they - along with Legia - could be problematic.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 01:09:07
BATE and Legia are seeded 6th and 7th respectively for the third round, so if two of the top five drop out in this round, they will be seeded for the Play-Off round.

Top five seeds are

Olympiacos
Celtic
Salzburg
Copenhagen
Ludogorets.

Looking further ahead, if all went according to co-efficient then we would be fourth in line in a battle for two spots in Pot 3 behind Kiev, Ajax and Olymipiacos.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 05:57:52
We will cruise past any of them teams The squad is looking really well equipped for the CL this season and qualification will be a formality as Brendan will have the team ready our options in the forward positions are excellent in the middle of the park we have such strength in depth now and get Caulker in a guy who has real class at the back so bring it on Hail Hail We are Celtic ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ€.

20 Jul 2017 11:14:29
We don't want Warsaw. The rest are fine.

Should we be worried about rosenburg in next round. They used to be regulars in the group stages. I was expecting that level in the following round. Somebody put my mind at ease and tell me norwegian football is sh**e these days.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Jul 2017 01:01:41
Just having a quick look at their league table, they sit top after 17 rounds, only having lost two games, although they did just lose their most recent game 3-0 away at Sogndal who sit 12th from 16. Averaging almost 2 goals for and almost 1 against per game. 7 goals a piece for Jevtovic and Vilhjรกlmsson, plus 6 for Bendtner. So they seem to have a few avenues to goal.

20 Jul 2017 01:22:30
Half way through the season and struggles to beat Dundalk at home. I honestly don't think we will have to much to worry about.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 04:54:05
Just remember Molde, Dundalk are well into their season as well and would have been all fired up, treat Rosenberg with the utmost respect and do not let an, what might be a false, over confidence, be our downfall.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 07:43:10
Why are we not playing away the first game? I thought the seeded team played away first?

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 08:44:44
Melb bhoy they won there last league game 3nil away buddy. agree that we must show rosenborg full respect! They'll be no mugs and a big step up from that dross last nite! And they'r well into there season. hopfully we can get a couple of goals next week to take over there. Think we'll definitely score over in Norway!

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 11:44:28
theyve been champs two years in a row and are currently top of their league so they are no mugs.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 12:56:49
I know a lot can change in two years, just need to look at our team for that. However, St Johnstone put Rosenborg out of the Europa League two years ago so I am quite confident.

20 Jul 2017 14:01:01
There are no easy games from now on in. We are good enough to win over 2 legs but it won't be a breeze. Looking forward to the game. let's see how far we have come.

19 Jul 2017 23:04:11
Happy enough with that run out tonight. A few ring rusty performances but to be expected at this stage of the season. If Linfield had sat any deeper they would have been in the car park. They set up for damage limitation. Job done.

On a less positive note it looks like another fine in the post for the banner. What were they thinking for feck sake?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

20 Jul 2017 00:13:32
I'm sick of seeing Celtic fans moan about the green brigade.

Most of the stadium join in on rebel songs and yet some offended at a banner?

Imo when the other 40,000 silent fans start to sing and create an atmosphere, then they can slate the green brigade.

Bunch of happy clappers moaning about controversial banner, at least the green brigade create noise.

Agree5 Disagree10

20 Jul 2017 01:00:14
Look mate I have no problem with the GB. I enjoy what they bring to games but that banner was ill-considered and stupid. I get it was designed to wind up the opposition supporters after the treatment in Belfast, but, it will achieve nothing more than another kick up the hole from UEFA.

Happy clapper? Very good! I go to gsmes to watch football. I'm just not a Saturday night rebel who frees Ireland every weekend after a few pints. I don't feel the need to wear the badge having lived through it.

Agree5 Disagree4

20 Jul 2017 08:55:12
Happy clappers tesla! Just because people have got a problem with these idiots putting up banners that get our club in trouble constantly doesn't mean they'r any less of a fan! Yes the green brigade create a great atmosphere, but when they start that Shoite and it gets our club in trouble I have a problem with it! How many times do the club need to be fined before these half wits learn? The problem with them is they think they'r untouchable because they create an atmosphere at the games! They sunk to that mobs level last nite when in reality we were playing a part time diddy team who are nowhere near our level! The green brigade have got to big for there boots IMO! They actually think the whole match day experience revolves around them! It's Celtic I come to watch not a bunch of half wits waving banners and singing Shoite they know will harm the club!

20 Jul 2017 10:09:06
Our support has some amount of sensitive PC bitches nowadays.

Linfield fans sing up to their knees etc. Im not offended. Let them sing it . Im an adult not a little offended girl at everything.

Yes we get fines. Like 16k? We spent like 25k a week on Boerrigter. We give away almost as much for the paradise windfall.

Just excuses from fans who go to the games and don't even sing. Sit n roll your eyes at the green brigade.

Best atmosphere in europe. aye only for the big games.

Agree1 Disagree5

20 Jul 2017 10:43:44
Hahaha aye rite u are pal! U mite not be a little offended girl but your certainly a moron! We payed boeriggter 25 k a week so it's ok to get fines! And comparing getting the fines to the paradise windfall! Hahaha! And I go to the games and sing and so does my 2 mates and nephew! And I don't remember any of us rolling our eyes at the green brigade, because unlike wee star struck clowns like u we're actually watchn the game and not creaming our boxers at the latest banner that's being held up! Bet u cannae wait til the schools go back so u can't finish 2nd year at the tenth time of asking! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 11:24:58
I really considered not bothering responding to you Tesla, however I want to set something straight. You consider anyone who disagrees with that banner as a PC bitch. You are probably some 18 year old kid who wasn't even born when I was burying friends who got shot dead before they reached that age. If you are older than that then you should have outgrown the tough guy act by now.

The GB knew exactly what reaction they would get before they did it and took a conscious decision to carry it through. If you think it is in some way justifiable to equate the weekly salary of a player to an avoidable fine then so be it. If you also think that squandering ยฃ16k on a fine when we have hard working people and old age pensioners going to food banks or choosing between heating and eating then that is a your problem. All this so you can show how much of a Peacetime Provie you are. Some of us are trying to concentrate on stray shot Moussa and not 'One Shot Pat' when we watch games.

Agree3 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 11:45:01
what was on the banner tesla?, i never saw it.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 12:01:42
abighandforjeremybeadle; excellent post. Even if the guy is 18 or younger spouting nonsense he's picked up from ill informed, as you call them, Peacetime Provos, is just crass and juvenile. Wish there was some time machine that we could put some of these people back to and they can learn first hand what the Struggle and those people, may innocent.

Agree2 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 12:59:22
I know mate. The sad and cruel reality is that there are too many families still living with the fall-out on a daily basis. It wasn't all songs and banners. I remember travelling over to Glasgow in 1983 to attend my first game and it was a welcome distraction from the madness that passed for normality in those days.

The last thing I want to contribute is to say I defend everyone's right to free political expression. I personally feel that there is a time and a place for it, my time is not at a football game, but others think differently. I regret starting and prolonging the debate but there you go. Back to football for me.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 13:33:34
Juvenile? Coming from a supposed adult who throws insults when presented with an argument.

Insults like calling people juvenile or peacetime provos etc.

That is your level of maturity. Some of us will always remember sacrifices given and struggles over hundreds of years. So unless you are 300 years old maybe you can't speak for all of history.

From 1798 onwards similar struggles and battles to maintain their freedoms and identity that you may now not have today if they didn't

War is horrible but it happens and thanks to the people who were willing to stand up to tyrants much more powerful than they are.

All over the globe. Not just irish.

Agree1 Disagree5

20 Jul 2017 13:54:29
firstly its not a crime to be an Irish Republican, so it seems strange that it seems to be a crime to sing Republican songs, the struggle was a legitimate war to try to end the occupation of Ireland by invading british crown forces, but back to the songs and the banner, i think it was just revenge for the orange lot for their treatment of griffiths last week.

Agree3 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 14:50:17
I didn't realise that history started 300 years ago! You have more in common with the DUP electorate than you realise. Why did you go off on a tangent talking about global politics when the point was about a banner referencing and IRA sniper in South Armagh? Why am I even asking for feck sake? More 'Diaper At Work' than 'Sniper At Work' in your case with the shite that is coming out of you.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 15:43:21
It was you who suggested becauae your age that your opinion matters more. I highlighted that the struggle is far older than any of us so to suggest my opinion doesn't matter based on age is nonsense.

As for the banners

If u don't like it you can start your own ultras group, hold hands and sing kumbaya my lord.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 16:04:30
Singing songs about irish history and battles is not a crime the english sing about saving the queen and all that dambuster stuff so what's the difference.

New signings all faired well. Benyu looks a find and has already leapfrogged Kouassi. Big Mousse way off the pace and needs game time and If Forrest can't tear that defence apart it's a sign of mediocrity. Armstrong will be sold and tonight was a message that The Club will always be bigger than the player (and their ego)

Also no Griffiths. Not swallowing the minor injury story. Dropped by BR because of scarf incident. let's see what UEFA hand him tomorrow. I think a 2 game ban.

19 Jul 2017 22:03:08
Maybe its just me and I am open to getting my head torn off here, but I was a little disappointed, they packed their box making everything very difficult, they are part timers and I expected them to run themselves out of steam and us to run them ragged and bang in 3 or 4 in the last 15mins, bu that did not happen, but onwards and upwards and we will be better for this next week.

The moose isn't match sharp yet first off. Early days pre season for the second. Third. they never got out of their first "".
Didn't think it was too bad myself all things carefully considered. The mini's threw everything they had with every body. A bit better finishing it would of been a few more mate.

19 Jul 2017 22:50:55
When everyone is match fit and Ntchem settles in we will tear teams apart. there were some nice touches that just failed on the last pass. We will see much better next week especially against a team that will play more open and leave more spaces. At times they were playing with 7 across there 18yrd line
I also think Moussa and Ntchem will be very good together.

20 Jul 2017 00:12:21
Alf course the pitch is bound to cut up badly in places, it's only recently laid and has had to withstand some aweful down pours.

SA dropped. Cameo goal. It will help his price. We don't want him to depart but he has done an inanvertant favour. If Liverpool get over their heavy petting stage with vd we may have 10m+ to play with if everything moves quickly enough.

20 Jul 2017 07:51:15
The Liverpool one is a bit delicate if I am not correct I am sure some one will rightly correct me I think Southampton reported or threatened to report them for player tapping so they backed off for now but I could be wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and the owners made the club give a very public apology over their conduct. However VVD himself wants to go to Liverpool and only Liverpool so it is still possible he ends up going.}

19 Jul 2017 21:41:09
Good result. Played like a training game.
Ntcham looked the part and young benyu looks comfortable.
Was that a message to Armstrong today as well?

Believable4 Unbelievable4

20 Jul 2017 00:19:16
Great to see the performances of Ntcham and Benny both played as if they belonged to the team . I have to confess I thought we had good youngsters for example, Millar, Atcheson, Johnston, & others but really they are not in the same league as these two that played tonight. Saturday I was impressed by Ajer and Ecosse and I think these four can play decent roles for us this season .
What is wrong with our academie we can bring lots of players up to a reasonable SPL standard but v few to Celtic standard .
We really have to get our own Celtic stars.
