ed how you? really would you do much with squad this year apart from shift a few guys who out picture on?
feel we need keeper in long term who's a strong voice at back help that line? i miss boruc shouting at his back line not shy at that is type we need. hoping kelvin wison is similar? not seen him realy to tell. middle is good options wise strong too, wide i'd like the old just burst on scene james forest running past folk on the outside a few times more, stokes to focus and sammi and murphy if they stay to get wi the programme and stop slowing up play all the time. the starting 11 is usually good and can be better now too i think.

i heard thunder the night at football - good sign lol
davybhoy ktf {Ed007's Note - Apart from the GK situation, we aren't exactly desperate IMO Davy, if we could get a GK and maybe a big physical striker I would be happy.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Yep spot on i think - a no1 we need long term first pick. i had hope we would a took the younger sutton on a free he a handfull and can score a few goals, decent back up who'l put head in there when its tight unlike murphy and sammi, but i'm in sales not celtic manager but i do know a bargain.i know you like de nigris fella? not seen much o him, fulham probs get him?
i was glad to see back o wgs but big tm was a total mare least he got shot o mcmanus and the heed(both imposters)
i always thought strachans team went when tommy burns past away god bless him now that kinda fight and play is coming back again a team again

ktf davybhoy {Ed007's Note - NL knows what it means to play for CFC, and he will make sure the players do as well. There was no need for an influx of players this year, and the majority of the team all know each other well now, so it is one of the strongest teams/squads in a few years, it should make for a great season, let's just hope it's the football it is remembered for this time}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep i reckon wgs got lucky with the CL results and we all seen what happened at borough, your exactly right with your comments, NL has got thr feeling back to when MON was here, I just hope he is given back up not just verbally but financially too

Released by Wolfsburg, Karim Ziani on Celtics Radar?? Heard anything Ed? {Ed007's Note - No.}

I got pelters a few weeks ago when I said we'd start the new season with no new striker and with Hooper and Stokes up front as we missed out on our 4 main targets.

Looks like I'll be right. No further movement with strikers till Jan.

Murphy and Sammy got till then to prove they are worthy of staying.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

You lookin for an apology or somethin?

Agree1 Disagree0

We had a striker on trial for the U19/development squad in a friendly game today vs. Motherwell.

Perhaps unlikely it was a potential 1st teamer, but nothing to rule it out completely either as the trialist as usual isn't even mentioned in the news report. I guess my only evidence it was a striker is that he was replaced by Atijic, who's a forward, at half time.

Anyone have any idea who it was?

As for the score the U19s lost 4-1 in case anyone's wondering.

Agree0 Disagree0

Always got Keatings (injured) or Feruz to try out both look great prospects

Agree0 Disagree0

Are man city not still sniffing around feruz i know they made an illegal approach at scotlans vs england u16s or 18s match last season in manchester by trying to fix up a meeting in city hotel

And there we have it at blackpool. "We hate Celtic, Fenian b**tards' Rangers in sectarian singing shocker wonder if that be head line morrow papers if was us would be front page

Believable5 Unbelievable0

They just can't help themselves.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why you interested in watching the Gers game....... {Ed007's Note - Who said they were interested?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos everyone likes to see champions play isn't that right Miko son? That said I'll be tuning in to watch Freddie Mercury stumble his way through yet another inept display tomorrow night..should be a chuckle.
Enjoy finishing 3rd behind the Jambos this season ladies

Baybear {Ed007's Note - Miko? Did you reply to the wrong post?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Naw Ed007, He's always on the gers page up for a wee bit of banter and I'm trying to lure him in. He doesnae seem to be biting today though.
Thanks for posting though Ed007, I'll be back on the wind up sometime.
Aw ra best in the Europa League by the way

Baybear {Ed007's Note - I have no problem posting Rangers fans posts Bay, as long as it is a bit constructive or funny and not just "hahaha 3 iar" kids nonsense, you are welcome here anytime for a wind up and some banter, and at least you have the guts and decency to leave a name, which always has more of a chance of getting posted than any the kids do}

Agree0 Disagree0

Only one team has finished third behind the jambos in the spl, and it certainly ain't the famous glasgow Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully the scum will rise to the top and Mordor will scoop it up to reduce the bitterness but it may not stop the poisoning of the poor baby "ORKS" who have not yet been inflicted with the orange curse of which Scotland needs to exude.

Ed, i see Barca are willing to let Jeffren leave to the right club.What do you think our chances will be if we go back in for him as we wanted him last year?

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - We would need to fight of very strong interest from the EPL, I would be as delighted as I would be surprised if CFC could get him JB, mate}

Ed with the new season about to start what would u say will be celtics strongest team {Ed007's Note - Of signed players, and not sure of where (or when) Wanyama will play or pre-season form etc:
Zaluska
Wilson Wilson O'Dea Izzy

Brown Kayal Ledley Commons

Stokes Hopper

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Ed. Would agree with you that O'Dea deserves another chance to prove himself. He can also provide cover for left back.

K. {Ed007's Note - Good afternoon K-Dot, I am not Majstorovic biggest fan, I would rather see O'Dea in the team}

Agree0 Disagree2

Rogne better than borh of them {Ed007's Note - I am hoping Rogne does come good, he has only just turned 21}

Agree1 Disagree0

Darren odea has been coming through for 5 year? not commanding enough but i like the bhoy as he's always fighting for his team when he plays - half decent left back to cover emilio

davybhoy ktf... bhoys are back in town {Ed007's Note - I would pick him in front of Majstorovic Davy, I am not the big Swedes biggest fan. He doesn't fill me with confidence or have the physical presence his size would lead you to believe.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed your bang on i'm just not keen on these bhoys like odea still being there after all this time - cup final other year (against cant mind ther name team in blue)he was great been on fringes too long and big danny i'm of same opinion ed way too soft for his size and clumsy cost us few points mid season united and inverness at home two i mind of. but some of his covering at back january onwards was great, even thou i still thought everytime o no he's missed it again. always wanted odea doing well a bhoy through the ranks .
we too many dead wood center half wise i think. hope rogne and thomson develope over next 2 years they could be good o m o mind but.

davybhoy ktf {Ed007's Note - Spot on Davy, Rogne is young and should learn, same with Thomson. I actually think it was a confidence thing with O'Dea, NL will know if that has improved, if not he could be away.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogne looked ok but became all arms and knees, not good, Thompson was all arms and knees full stop, Iv'e played for almost 40 years now and I can't beleive some of the comments, Rogne may have a future in alower league, Thompson definetly a lower league. I haven't seen Kelvin Wilson play yet as I couldn't get a stream in OZ but I do trust NL. Big M I would agree is not our answer for CH position.

Karim Ziani just released by Wolfsburg, linked with Rangers in Algerian press. If Celtic are seriously looking at McFadden, Bellamy and Snodgrass, they should definately take a look at this guy, very similar player to McGeady. Would represent better value for money than any of the other 3 I just mentioned, leaving whatever money is available to strengthen other areas of the team, possibly a target man striker if we move on murphy. Would like to see Zigic from Birmingham or Marko Janko, think he's at FC Twente now. Any thoughts ed ? {Ed007's Note - Not a fan of any they 2 strikers I'm afraid, especially Zigic}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I assume Ziani has been linked because of the Bougherra / Algeria connection. The guy was way too inconsistant in Germany (i watch alot of Bundesliga..best league in the world IMO) and he never really stood out. I'd imagine his wages would be out of reach of either the Old Firm.

TrampsPants

Agree0 Disagree0

Usual garbage, link him with Rangers, then it'll be us, and he'll end up on the bench at Stoke or Bolton on 15k per wk.

Agents eh? I wonder if their own mums luv em.

Roll on Sunday...

Shaunybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Not linking him with us, just a comment that I think he would represent better value for money than bellamy, mcfadden etc. True that his wages may be out of reach but could be willing to use the old firm as a stepping stone to the epl, and would do a job if lenny maged to get the best out of him, he difinately has potential. On another note, ed who do you think is likely to start the season up front, and who if any strikers would u like to see us go after that are realistic targets ? {Ed007's Note - Unless someone is signed up I think it will be Hooper/Stokes up front, I would like us to sign de Nigris}

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2011 13:32:59
Ed, great site keep up the good work. i was wondering who are the players currently on trial with Celtic?

Hail Hail {Ed007's Note - Thanks very much for the praise, there are 2 players just now GK Stipe Pletikosa (although this is more of a fitness test than trial) and midfielder Mylord Kasai with CF Katlego Mphela due to come in as well.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kasai looks like a decent midfielder if Kayal goes.

Sat next to Izzaguire at restaurant in Silverburn on Sunday afternoon. His extended family were over from Honduras and he was with his wife and son and all were having a good time. I asked him and he told me he would definitely be here for at least another year as he loves it here and his wife and son are very happy.

So please can we end these Izzy leaving rumours. The guy was genuine and expressed his love of Celtic the club and for the support from the fans.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Lovely bit of respect u showed him there ... the guy flys his family over to spend time and have a meal and u know this but still decide to interupt his private time to ask him questions on his personal life..... VERY RESPECTFUL....
My mrs works in Beaverbrook jewellers in silverburn .. ill have an answer within the next 20-30mins as to whether he was there or not

Agree2 Disagree5

So if your wife works in a jewellers in silverburn she automatically know every person who eats, drinks, shops and has a look around dont think so

Agree5 Disagree1

Your 20-30mins are up so take it you were talking craig whyte about your mrs working at silverburn or have you just realised how stupid you are by claiming your wife would know as she works in a jewellers even though emilo and family were in a restuarant in another part of silverburn or do all visitors come to the jewellers and tell your mrs who they r before entering?

Agree4 Disagree1

Na I thought it would take 20-30 mins to reply but bein a bird she never ...actually she speaks to the security guards all the time and they told her that they didnt know anything and a few of them are fellow hoops. They would have known besides Silverburn is nowehere near where he stays ... the mrs asked what rest was he in?

Agree0 Disagree1

Guy has a point ..... judging by this site every celtic fan that sees him asks him the same question really ? well if that aint gonna drive the guy away what will .... giv him some space man instead of constantly harassing him when he is out.... Im assuming u got a pic with him tho ... stick it on the player sighting page

My original post so please let answer some points. He was not interrupted at his meal, we had a chat as his son was jumping around and playing with my son. Toddlers don't sit very long. Parents will know how these chats start off, normally with a joke about energetic kids It was him who spoke to me, initially about the kids and then I congratulated him on last season and there was an opportunity to ask him which I took. I was not frothing at the mouth like other desperate fans when they see a player. We spoke for about 2-3 minutes laughing at the kids as well then returned to our meals.
As for the ridiculous jewellery wife knows everyone in Silverburn on every day, all I can say is get a grip mate. Honestly, don't be so bitter just cos your wife works in a shop and didnt know a Hoops player was nearby
As for the security guards angle, yeah they were so observant, they walked right past him.

Ed, I have merely posted what has occurred. I trust Izzaguire based on what he said and know he'll be part of the Hoops league winning side this season.

Cheers, DT {Ed007's Note - Whether you did or didn't meet him, I have no reason to doubt you, footballers have to go to shops/restaurants etc just the same as everyone else. I have met/saw players in public places loads of times. They don't just sit in their houses when not training or playing, and it is a rumours page.}

We clearly don't have money available for any decent targets, we have on signed mugabi for 1.5 or what ever it was who will be very good, Its starting to annoy me that we seem so hell bent on only trying to keep one step ahead of rangers when surely the money is there to keep well ahead of them 50,000 season ticket holders plus Money from trips abroad, we need to start spending some serious money then we will make money from europe etc Targets like keane and bellamy shouldn't be hard to get plus I'm sure there's a few in the epl that would jump at a chance of playing for the hoops, spend more on wages Money makes money If you agree clock believe or if you think I'm talking rubbish click unbeliveable It's time we stopped making up silly rumours and only post ones that will happen

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Ha Unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree1

Explain to me how spending big wages will bring in more money, at best we'll be in europa league group stages which is not going to generate that much income. season ticket prices have barely increased in the last few years so unless we sell a big name there is no big signings, as for bellamy why pay someone big wages and a possible transfer fee when its unlikely he would have any resale value, we have to buy players with potential resale value like Kayal, Izzaguire, Ki, Hooper the list goes on .

Agree1 Disagree0

If we spend money on wages then hopefully it will be on the better players ie keane bellamy which will help us make it past the group stage of Europa league, also I think Celtic owe it to the fans after the times we could of fully took advantage of rangers finacial probs and yet again we didn't, I agree we need to get rid of players but the fringe players cut them and it would free up more money, the better we do the more money it would generate. I just think lenny is building something and a bit more backing for him would be great he can attract a good name rather than having to search all the time for unheard off players who are good but can't keep doing it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2011 00:34:19
Too much focus on what Rangers are spending. May i remind you that your club has only spent £1m so far on a player who probably wont make the first team? But not to worry, Rangers havent spent yet so its okay. What a strange mentality.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Yet another current bun on the celtic pages they just cant get enough

Agree1 Disagree0

Think the focus is more about what Mr whyte claims yer gonna spend and how much yer actually spending, particularly when you keep missing out due to not having the money to compete in the market. No coincidence that most of the players your linked with are ex players who couldn't cut It elsewhere. Celtic have never made public what they are likely to spend. 20 million Mr Whyte aye right, wonder how long till we hear him use the Murray party line of a tenner for every fiver, sells season tickets I suppose.

Agree1 Disagree0

The difference is we are not coming out with ridiculous comment about having £20,000,000 to spend and our manager has already proved that he doesnt need alot of money to make a good signing Only thing Sally has proved is that he can sign an unknown from spain, get rejected by a host of other players........and i suppose, being reasonably funny on a quiz show

Agree0 Disagree0

Pots calling kettles black. You're focusing on what Celtic are spending

K.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can one of you give me a quote where Craig Whyte says we will spend £20 mill? All he says is they could exceed the 5 mill originally planned. It's the papers that are saying £15 mill and £20 mill

Billyboy1

Agree0 Disagree0

Craig Whyte never said he'd spend £20m... Traynor did. The point i was making, however, is that Celts dont seem to be that fussed that the season is days away and you've only spent £1m. I havent seen many Celts talking about that which seems strange. Its all "Whyte has no money" - Fair enough.
