Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

So I'm a relatively young fan by football standards and I was wondering when the season ticket form was introduced at the club and football in general. Had a look online but couldn't find any answers. Does anyone happen to know when season tickets were introduced at Celtic and who were the first club to use them?

There is a season book that says (on the front)
The Celtic Football And Athletic Club limited
Season Ticket 1927-27
Ground and covered enclosure
7 shillings or 7 pence
there is also a Member's Ticket (different terminology to "season ticket" but maybe the same thing)
season 1921-22

some folk on here saying Bitton is a defensive midfielder; positionally yes but take a look at his tackling
he doesn't like a challenge which is a slight worry
in saying that he picks up good positions and passes the ball reasonably effectively and gets up and down the park at a canter
a little bit of metal in the tackle however wouldn't go a miss

Have been saying this all season no Wanyama and that is what we need

To me he is similar to Ki, good passer and keeps possession but lacks that bite in the tackle that a CDM requires

I don't rate his passing that highly either, very very rarely he plays a defense splitting pass , it's all just very neat and tidy 10 or 20 yards .

He's certainly not a "defensive" ayer as such, he's even said it himself. He's a ball playing CM, just in our system plays a bit deeper. Certainly not of Wanyamas ilk. Wanyama was box to box, could protect the back line but had the power, stamina and ability to get forward and cause problems - an incredible player really and certainly a big factor in Southamptons position. I admit its a bit harsh comparing Bitton to Wanyama but when Vic was sold Bitton was the only CM brought in. Was hoping we would hear some more news on the Kara link but for whatever reason (probably Eck if it was true at all) it doesn't look like it is happening.

Answer to our creativity problems - Sebastian Giovinco!
This would put bums on seats, ah if only.
With RD being Norweigen, Mohammed Abdelloue is out of contract from Stuttgart, he was pretty good before his move to them.

Just signed for Toronto

Certainly a bums on seats player Kev. As for him joining Toronto it annoys me a bit when a deal like this happens and we're not the club involved.

Actually i've just read Toronto have more than doubled his wages. We don't even increase our own players wages!

Yeah JT makes me sick that a buck shee MLS team is more attractive than Celtic, even if it is just for the money.

just had an idea - remember how amazing beachball sunday was all those years ago? this time, instead of dressing up for the beach, why don't we all dress up as zombies and do a 'walking dead' style zombie walk up to hampden? it would be fecking hilarious!

Just read an article by the excellent James Forrest regarding this game. In it he makes the point that we should make this game about us, not the daywalkers claiming it is an old firm game.
With that in mind I would hope we don't sink to the level which no doubt will be plumbed by sevconians. No rebel songs, just CELTIC songs. No mention of them being dead, we all know they are.Lets give them enough rope to hang themselves.
Beach ball Sunday was one of the most memorable experiences of my Celtic supporting life.It showed that we have the humour and attitude to leave this baggage behind us. let's get right behind the team, loudly and colourfully. This is the FIRST time we have played this particular team, let's show them how the big Bhoys do it.

You make a good point GJ I just hope your right. I feel though that there is always a small element that will let us down.
Whilst we talking about the new club, I feel its just a matter of time before they get their act together and mount a challenge albeit maybe 1, 2, or 3 yrs down the line. The question is not about them though its more about us. If and when it comes are we in a position to defend as we seem to be struggling to pay out a few hundred thousand at the moment. Or are the board purposely not spending just now in case they need to at a later date.

I think Newco are heading down the same road as Oldco and although the 'powers-that-be' and secret societies will attempt to avert another administration, there is absolutely no way they could survive unassisted for the rest of the season, never mind another year in the Championship.
They are haemorrhaging cash and Ashley's dodgy involvement is causing mayhem.

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing dodgy about Ashley's involvement.}
Agree with ED, there is nothing dodgy about Ashley's investment, this is all about sale and leaseback. Iwould not be in the least bit surprised if Ashley is part of the Bluepitch or Marguarita group.
Dont forget Chuckles, got to love him!, had no money to buy the assets.Seems to me he made promises to various parties re them getting stuck into the ibrokes pie, and tey certainly have done that!
@rayman; They don't really bother me mate, they are years behind us even though we blew a chance to move into a different orbit. They have a stadium that is decaying badly on a daily basis and a load of players out of contract at the season end. Conservative guess. they must need in the region of 40-50M. And don't forget those wonderful onerous contracts!

Fair point GJ, but I think we would be pretty naïve to think it will never come.

Ashley is a businessman first and foremost. He sees an opporchancity to make cash. Not doing anything illegal or wrong. One thing for sure, he won't hesitate to sell the stadium or any other asset to get a return on his cash. They won't be the first big business to finally sink and will be hardline news until the next f#ckwit blows himself up

Hi guys, I've been on here a couple of times lately saying that in my opinion, one of our weaknesses is that we don't have a Wanyama to protect the CBs. What do you think about dropping Liustig there now that Matthews seems to be finding his form.

It looked on Saturday that Brown is more than protecting them - at times he was even like a sweeper - and Biton is also a defensive minded midfielder.
I like Lustig, but he has missed so many games, (like Mathews) and between them, can cover the right side.

Ambrose could play the wanyama role well at least he wouldn't be the last line of defence but has all the attributes needed! I've been saying this for about 6months now!

I also think of the current crop Ambrose would be the best candidate for that sort of role. As we shift between 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 in games I'd rather see Brown, Johansen and Henderson/Biton as the central unit though. I think its attacking midfielders/wing forwards we're lacking. Against Hamilton we were 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 with Commons and Henderson as the wide attackers; neither of them are best suited there. We should stump up and get GMS in now as well as perhaps one other. Mayber, just maybe there's a place for Boerrigter on the other side.

Ambrose does not have the discipline or positional awareness to play that role well consistently.

AMBROSE doesn't have the positional awareness or discipline to play any role well! The guys a totally liability! Glad he's not in the team! Think we'll see a more solid calmer back line with him not in it! heres hoping denayer stays fit for the run in!

I'd rather Ambrose there than CB he has pace to get back and cover counter attacks providing he has the correct studs in his boots and doesn't slip
