Not to sure on Anya, looks decent playing for Scotland but can't get a regular game for Watford. Just saw some clips of Jordan Botaka a 21yr old Dutch winger who play for Exselsior in Holland. The boys got a few tricks and pace to burn. Looks good on you tube but so did the Tampon and look how he's turned. Have you heard of any interest in anyone ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm still thinking Lars Christopher Vilsvik could be a target, his contract is up at the end of the month, he has played under RD so he knows what to expect and what is expected of him in RD's playing system.
I'm with you on Anya, Daz, a couple of decent games for Scotland and suddenly he's good enough to play for CFC, no thanks.}

im not to keen on anya without ever really seeing him play. its just people say he can't get a game at watford and others are saying he's done great for scotland but sure mulgrew plays well for scotland so for me I hope we aren't after him. surely there is better out there

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the anya rumour is just the papers needing a story. My wish list to Santa is for a central defender and a full back as defence needs strengthening and of course guidetti would be a great stocking filler haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed do you think we need another right back or is the boy Lars versatile, or is someone leaving perhaps.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Lustig or Matthews leaving either in January or in the summer.}

19 Dec 2014 23:53:25
Havnt seen that much of Anya, but if you go for Vilsvik you will get a player that can play both sides equally good, fast, good passer and good attacker. And of course he knows Deila's football and are very much suited to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers for that (y)

Edd, have you any idea how many years Anya has left on his contract? A rough ballpark figure of how much he would cost? And if we could afford his wages? Thanks mate. Markie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Anya's contract runs until summer 2016 and the fee being mentioned for him is £1.5m - £2m. I don't have any idea about his wages but I can't see them being a problem to CFC but as far as I know there's been no contact with Watford and CFC are not interested in the player.}

A would have thought 1 mill tops tbh they got him for free, and I think someone said he is not getting a regular game @ Watford!

Looked into the quotes he was a "rangers fan" turns out the first time he entered the bile dome was the recent international both parents major academics who frowned on his football

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Edd. Markie

If a player cannot play regularly on a team like Watford, I am not sure we should be bothered buying him .
We probably have just as good as Anya coming through ourselves .

What's peoples thoughts on the Anya link?

Can't say I'm blown away but he's had some good performances for Scotland particularly against some decent opposition. Certainly an outlet capable of stretching a defence.

I know Forrest has had injuries but WGS seems to prefer Anya and that's good enough for me.

Sorry but I don't rate this guy, really wanted to like him but I just can't, has pace & a good attitude but zero ability. Fair enough for a squad player maybe but we need an actual first choice reliable winger, like Boerrigter was supposed to be

Agree1 Disagree0

Naturally I'd prefer somebody better too. A real pedigree sining but I just can't even hope for it any more. Like I said i'm not blown away but I find myself trying to find positives in anybody we're linked with/sign now.

R.E Boerrigter. I thought he would be great. Looked quality for Ajax. Still a thread of me clinging onto the hope he might give us something.

Agree1 Disagree0

Zero ability Anton? Give yourself peace.

Anton how can you say he has zero ability lol his run through and composure for his goal away in germany itself shows ability. Most games iv seen him with scotland he's terrorised the defender he's up against. I'd be over the moon if we signed him, he's the type of winger that forrest should be but isn't

Agree1 Disagree1

He has played well for Scotland when
getting the ball on the break and has space to run into. He wouldn't have many of these opportunities at Celtic and might struggle. If we sign him we may be making it difficult for young lads to come through from our development squad .

Agree1 Disagree0

He has pace which will help is up the field in Europe he's been Scotlands standout under GS apart from the England game and has better dribbling skills than Wakaso who tends to lose the ball all the time through heavy touches yet he gets his praises sung all the time. Ed do you rate this Vilsvik can't say I've seen him play bit if he's the cheaper option then he's the more likely option

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've never seen Vilsvik play mate, it was a name that was mentioned as a possible target when RD first took over and I dismissed it simply because we have Lustig & Matthews. RB has looked one of our most fragile positions this season.}

GS sets up in a tight defensive formation with pace on the break for scotland. Anya has had room to run with cover behind him . I still think he may struggle with two rows of deep players to get by in the spl. Possibly why he doesn't feature more for Watford. First and foremost I think we really need a guy with a great left foot that can cross a ball consistently.

Agree1 Disagree0

That's exactly right Rayman . Anya would have a completely different set of problems facing him at Celtic, there is no reason for us to have any confidence. he could do a job for Celtic .

Agree0 Disagree0

I had a look on YouTube for Vilsvik he seems unorfidox quite tall for a winger seems quite tidy but it is his best clips did you say he would be on a free ED?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes he'd be on a free come January but he's not a winger bud, he's a full-back.}

20 Dec 2014 17:40:16
Didnt think you guys was talking about a winger. Visvik is more a back than a winger, but think Deila used him as a winger cause of a long term injury. As a winger, Mohamed Elyounoussi would be the best option, from the norwegian league.

Can anyone explain how these year loan deals work?
Read that Ben Arfa and another English premier player (the name escapes me) also on year long loan deals are being sent back to their parent clubs, yet apparently, listening to paul Lambert about Tonev he said "he is Celtic's problem they must keep him for the year" how can English clubs end loan deals early when Celtic cannot?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - deals between different federations are done differently from loans within the same federation. Tonev is an international transfer.}

Is that an actual quote!?! Talk about being diplomatic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yo would think that there would be something in the agreement that let's Celtic cancel the loan if he breaks the rules.
I don't know if Tonev is guilty or not, but the fact he has been found guilty, surely gives us the right to sack him, it is a serious enough offence.
If Celtic did sack him, he would still be employed by Aston Villa, so he would become their problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be seen as if Celtic were accepting that he broke the rules.if we forced Villa to take him back . We all know the SFA have a bias against Celtic and Celtic players, I hope Celtic don't punish their own players on the word of an Abedeen player .

Agree0 Disagree0

I would agree with you Chris if he was our player, but I don't know if we should have our name dragged through the mud for a loan player, who will probably be off at the end of the season anyway.
I don't think it is a fair system to just take one man's word against the other, but Celtic signed up to the system, so they have got to look after their reputation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gerryc there would be very many people who would think that Celtic would best protect their reputation by standing by Tonev . We shouldn't be getting up on our high horses just because the SFA have tried to make an example of him .

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't understand that argument, Chris, why should Celtic stand by him, just because he's playing for Celtic, fair enough if people at the club have known him a long time and trust him, and know what he's realy like, but if they're doing it just because he's on loan to Celtic, then I think that's wrong, if he is a racsist, he'll probably get caught out again, if he's not then someone will have to teach him what words are not acceptable, but it should'nt be Celtics problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aindoh I take it by your arguments then Tonev is not a racist . You say if he is he would be found out again .
I understand he has a completely clean record. The fact that he hasn't been " found -out " as you put it before and has been a professional footballer for years would by your standards put him in the clear .

Is it a coincidence that Paul Paton has been handed a 2 game ban when we're here in Dundee on Sunday?!
Also, why was the court case no place to be seen in the papers? Apparently all he got was a fine?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Was quite looking forward to the 'contest' between him and Brown.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe Rooney is standing up for this guy Paton .Having seen the video of the incident it clearly shows him spitting, and Rooney, s reaction would suggest that being the case.i can only think that they Aberdeen wanted him to play against celtic this weekend, or am I just paranoid.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dundee Utd have been refused the right to appeal and so Paton cannot play against us . In all honesty I thinnk this is a terrible decision ( I mean refusing the right to appeal.)
Also if It is definite Paton spat on an Aberdeen player his suspension should be a lot more than two matches.
