A know there was a topic about earlier about POTY but surely Denayer for the YPOTY is a dead cert?

A know big Nir has came good but that didn't kick in till xmas

a think with his size etc we forget he is only 19 a hope your right Ed and stand a chance of getting him a second season

MC has to be impressed at his progress folks?

Jamie Denayer is a good shout mate. If he gets POTY and a treble of medals, could this sway him to stay for a good few seasons? Hope he does mate

A hear you DN30 mate a know from a previous post mate your worried like me about needing possibly TWO new CH's for next season going into the CL campaign!

A suppose the flip side of that if he takes a clean sweep of medals plus the YPOTY he has nothing left to achieve up here mate?

But like you would love him to stay a now expect big VVD to stay for most of the qualifiers for the CL as a don't think a EPL CL team will be in for him!

Congrats to Ronny John as the bhoys coming thru and winning 2 tough games against a dundee utd team who rightly don't like to be beat . celtic needed to be mentally and physically tough as well as having ability to do so and with the two ex Dundee utd bhoys back to freshen up the squad for the next game we're in a good position to beat them again.

Superb performance from the whole team tonight. Toss up between Forrest and Bitton for MOM. Can't believe how good big Bitton looks at times compared to last season. Have to put that down to Ronny and JC. Treble is still on

Sack the board, from day 1 I always knew he would be a good thing for our club. Problem we face is, when will big money clubs start coming in for him and we are back to square 1? story of our club unfortunately

19 Mar 2015 01:44:40
DN 30. Nothing in Deila's career has suggested that as soon as the big money moves come in for him he will be gone . Knowing how Special the English think of their league is and how rank rotten they think the SPL is, I don't expect a big stampede of offers from that quarters of a Norwegian operating in Scotland . Some continental clubs may not be stuck as far up there inside and may show an interest . However Deila may see more job sarisfaction staying at Celtic .
I would very much doubt that Deila would be bought by £ alone, and I think the Celtic clu may just give him all the opportunities to fulfil his dreams .

19 Mar 2015 11:27:00
Word, Chris02. I read it the same way. A domestic treble isn't going to turn heads in England though probably they should, and he ain't a money man. Hope we have RD for a number of seasons yet: he has most of us won surely by now.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 14:47:43
I don't know the details of his move, but didn't Ronny leave his Norwegian club to come to Celtic, so I don't agree that he wouldn't be tempted by a big money move.
The same line was being applied to Guidetti at the start of the season, he wasn't supposed to be interested in the money, he only wanted to play for a great club, medals meant more than money etc. Ronny may be different, but I wouldn't put my house on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 17:24:56
Deila leaving Norway to come to Celtic, could be at the outset merely a stepping stone . However it doesn't necessary have to be so. We all know that most of you regard Lennon to be a moany wèe bastard, who I was told should have been raced out of Celtic Park . If an apprentice manager could bring Celtic to the last 16 of Champions League. Surely Deila, has the status and ability to bring Celtic a couple of steps further .
Why would Deila want to leave if we can make the Semi finals of Champions League .

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 18:07:00
Chris I admire your optimism, but I doubt very much that Celtic will reach the last 4 of the Champions league.
If we had players good enough to get us there, I am sure that Peter Lawwell would be selling them to the highest bidder.
Ronny will have the same problem as Neil Lennon, in that he will build teams and the board will sell the best players, it's whether he is prepared to keep doing this that will determine how long he will stay here.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 22:51:13
List the top players in the last five that Peter Laweell has sold, that haven't previously demanded a move . The players that I know have made it publicly known that they wanted to escape from us .

It would be better to have your facts before coming out with negative pish .

As long as we keep winning. Do you not remember playing a team from govan 7 times in one season not so long ago. Whatever happened to them.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Mar 2015 23:16:08
Dundee Utd have a lot in common with the team from Govan . For years and years Dundee Utd have been foul dirty thugs who would be quite happy to kick us off the field . The Govan mob practiced the same style of football., however I hope Dundee United thugs don't die .

Agree1 Disagree2

18 Mar 2015 23:46:51
CHRIS02 are you some kind of idiot, dundee utd have always been one of the best footballing teams, ever since before the days of paul sturrock, david narey, paul hegarty, etc, right up to ryan gauld, stuart armstrong and gary mackay steven.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 01:50:04
I haven't spoken of the ancient time of paul Stuurock, but I have spoken somewhere of the game that the ref Lied Dougie Mac . I remember they were dirty then and also games before that . I was shocked at their approach . It seems to me that it certainly not Jackie Mac who set them out to be thugs . They were dirty bastards long beforecJackie took over .

hey guys, for a bit of debate/banter. POTY? Will it be broony CG or SJ. let's for 1 minute assume its Gordon and he defo in with a shout. Is it a great thing that he is POTY? Defo for him and what he been thro. But what does it say about Celtic? In living memory I can't remember a celtic goalie winning it. Does it mean our defence is bad? Is it just great credit to CG? or are we giving away too many chances to opposition who are obviously inferior? Be great to know your opinions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Mar 2015 16:02:35
Rayman Let us assume for one moment it Is Johansen . A young attacking midfielder bought in January 2014 for a mere pittance of £2m . What a steal, what wonderful scouting . Picking up a couple like Johansen'every season and Celtic could become unplayable especially domestically.
Rayman there can be a positive narrative for anyone who becomes player of year .
I doubt if it will be Craig Gordan, he has saved us well on occasions, particularly when the team was struggling to find his feet . However his blunders in the first match of the last 16 will be hard to forget. Over the last couple of months he has been protected by and large by a rock solid defence, and hasn't done any more than could be expected of him .
If C G wins POTY it will say that sentimentality is a live and well amongst the people who voted for him .

How are you judging it, on the set amount of games in the votihg period or on a few games when certain players were either excepionally good or bad, I think if you take it on the whole season so far, its between gordon, brown and johannsen, and if you went through it game by game, giving points for performances, gordon would be a runaway winner, nothing to do with sentimentality., sure he made blunders in the milan game, but you just need to see what wolfsburg did to the milan defence, the rest of the celtic team were just as much to blame for that defeat.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Mar 2015 23:20:53
Jamiebhoy Of course you remember that during the period of Brown's absence due to injury Celtic 's season was in disarray. Luckily since he returned we have hardly looked back .
There are so many possible POTY that I think it is a bit premature to be too sure of our selection just yet .

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Mar 2015 17:37:23
Aindoh, I admire your loyalty towards Craig Gordon . However I fail to see how the rest of the Celtic team were responsible for his attempt to stop a ball going out for a goal kick, and dropping the ball at the strikers foot .
The Milan third goal was the biggest howler at Celtic Park by a home goalie in over a decade . For God's sake a nothing ball from a way out was heading somewhere near the corner flag . Gordon ran past it and decided to dive backwards and managed agin to place the ball on a plate for the striker .

Jesus, how can bring Wofburg into a discussion re Craig Gordon . Prior to the Milan game, I was quite happy with Craig, maybe he blocked balls straight out and gave defenders chances that could be avoided . I am happy enough with a keeper who doesn't make blunders. Gordan worries me now

I can't find anywhere showing the match 2n but if u do can u please share a link so everyone can watch CL ruins television appearances for those not in the competition. What a monopoly they have in football and broadcasting. It's disturbing and shows y the gap between big and small clubs is ever increasing. If there is demand for a match to b televised then it should b allowed

As happy as I am the way the season is going and the consistency the players are showing, I worry that playing the same team four games in a row has an element of risk.
I think we do have better players than United, even without GMS and Armstrong, but all it needs is a mistake, a fluke - or as McNamara would claim - a penalty or a red card - I see he has tried to pressure the referee by saying Ciftci is a marked man?!
Thomson is a bad enough referee without being prompted ffs.

The players have had a taste of success and it should fuel their desire for more - or they could have a reaction and falter?
One thing for sure, there were one or two that can play much better than they did on Sunday and are due a performance.
Home advantage and a good strong start should put doubt in United minds; but I would settle for a one goal victory, as long as we win.

We have more quality in depth than United. Does RD stick or twist? i'd twist. Give them something different and give a couple players a chance.

Scepovic

Stokes
Henderson
Forrest

Brown
Bitton

Izzy
Virgil
Denayer
Ambrose

Gordon

Bring on Griffiths and Commons if needed. Matthews perhaps get a runnout too.

Think we'll win convincingly tonight. Ten pound on celtic -2.

My mate was at the Hampden game a few weeks ago when we played that team from the lower division. He was pretty close to the fan separation section. Usual bile etc of "Kill aw rem Tims and Fenians" from one side and "Kill aw rem Bloo nose bastidges" from the other side. My mate noticed wan wee bloke staunin shouting oot "Kill everybody, kill everybody."
Anyway, at half-time my mate nipped doon and asked the wee bloke wit the deal wis wae the "Kill everybody" chant? Wee bloke looked at my mate and said, "Nothin really, it's jist that my brother is an undertaker!" Hail Hail

Tony, water off a ducks back. Just a bit of light humour and a bit of banter. If I can't take a joke or criticism then I should not go onto social media sites. It made me giggle when I heard it and I just thought I would share. I'm too long in the tooth to spit out any dummies or worry that someone might not like me or my posts. Great site, great comments and (for the most part!) great people. Hail Hail
