Anyone thinking we get any fee from Wanyama transfer is going to be very disappointed. It is definitely a sell on percentage on any profit from future transfer above original fee.

Well watch this space. Why do you think Tottenham are haggling with Southampton over a £1m? Its cause Tottenham know that if they pay what Southampton are wanting, they are not going to see it anyway cause it will be due to Celtic. It was well publicised at time of transfer what the terms of clause were.

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Jun 2016 08:16:33
Why would Spurs care its not them who owe us the money? Southampton want £12.5mil for him, Spurs only want to pay £11mil. Seems to be some confusion over whether its 10% of fee or profit. We may never find out if we've actually received anything.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jun 2016 09:48:15
So you'll believe what was published when we sold him but not what is published now?
Truth is no one knows for sure except the club because celtic don't publicise their deals

According to what I have read Spurs are unwilling to pay more than £11 million as he is going into the final year of his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 10:58:20
Spurs are the tightest club going, i'm surprised Southampton aren't saying we want x amount if not he's yours next summer, ye penny pinching p****s!

PL needs his bonus money.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 20:47:11
LM67 are you daft? It saves Tottenham £1m, not paying Southampton extra £1m that Southampton won't see, cause clause will be activated and this will be due to Celtic. Is that simple enough for you?

Kev83 that's a stupid statement. There are conflicting reports that are published at moment.

Fixtures mean if the undead get into top 6 they are due to play us, aberdeen and hearts all at home after the split. How could the computer come out with that? Paranoia kicking in again.

They will get and need all the help available.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 21:45:45
Personally I think they have done a decent job rebuilding their team and have made some good free transfer signings. The St Johnstone game at home has been long forgotten due to them convincing beating a Dundee team that are very hit or miss (pretty sure we put 6/ 8 past them at the start of the season) us losing to them with one of the poorest displays I've ever seen from a Celtic team (Legia and Molde aside) has only added to their over estimations! However I'm very intrigued to see how they fare against the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts even Motherwell. Especially with Barton rubbin his gums about being a class above the whole of the SPL.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 08:37:35
Will be interesting right enough but I reckon Barton's rating of being a class above applies more readily to us, Aberdeen, Hearts and perhaps Motherwell and maybe even Dundee on their day. For me that puts a definite 3 teams streets ahead of them and potentially 5 teams. Reckon they may well be lucky to be anywhere near title race by February, could surprise people though. Joey Barton is a good player but his age and temperament mat see him spend more time on sidelines than on park.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jun 2016 10:59:09
Imagine they drop a few points in these so called easy games and we win all our so called hard games. How demoralised would they be by the time they get to parkhead in September? League could be over by easter again.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 11:28:14
This split is a farce imo. Not only that, they don't release the fixtures for the split until just before they are due.
Lets get to a sensible size league with home and away fixtures.

Yip its paranoia.

19 Jun 2016 15:46:46
Tiny Tim I agree the split thing is a complete bollocks .
This year's SPL will be a complete nonsense as I cannot see Rangers 2012 lasting until the split . Rangers are in total melt-down and because of not been listed, the South African tax defrauded, a glib and shameless liar, is prepared to say anything or do anŷthing to keep the show rumbling on hoping for a miracle.

Watching this Hungary game and just thought, do cetic still have the player / club link with the Hungarian team (think it was ujpest) ? Or did it finish when Willie mcstay left.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

18 Jun 2016 22:13:34
Pretty sure that was mcstay's baby mate but a don't think they'd be hard to deal with if they had anyone we have our eye on.

Lustig has been a good player for us.

18 Jun 2016 15:14:48
Lustig is a better player than Wisdom, still.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 15:31:49
Don't know how anyone can put Lustig in same list as ambrose or boyata.
Lustig has been a really good player for us.

Agree3 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 16:08:46
Lustig has been a good player when he is fit, but unfortunately he has had many injury problems and absences in his Celtic career and we need decent cover.
Janko may have been a good stand-by, but I am not sure if he wants to stay in Glasgow?

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Jun 2016 17:28:29
Janko's a sprinter not a footballer. In the wrong sport.

Agatha did have a final ball, when he looked up. That was his biggest problem he just never looked where he was putting it most of the time. Still u get what u pay for. He more than repaid the 50 grand we got him for.

Morning ED. I see the papers today are claiming a windfall for Celtic of over £1 million on the back of wanyamma going to Spurs. I thought we only got something on the profit so we made nothing on the first £11 million so we would be getting nothing on his sale.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Southampton paid us £12.5 million for Wanyama.}

18 Jun 2016 12:55:36
There seems to be a lot of confusion over whether the sell on clause is for 10% of the profit on the fee or the actual fee itself. We either stand to make £1.1M or nada. Hopefully it'll get cleared up if the sale goes through.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 13:43:24
We did make a tidy profit on big vic regardless of the sell on. If we get anything it's a bonus.
With the season tickets and the money we pimp in every year, plus the sponsorship there can be no excuse for signing a decent striker this year.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 14:03:31
So would we stand to make over a million or would be get nowt.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - From experience I would say we won't be due anything from the sell on clause.
Remember when McGeady was linked to with Zenit for around £30 million and the press said we were due about £2 million of that, well how much did we get when he eventually joined Everton? Nowt.}

18 Jun 2016 14:46:45
Island Celt spot on mate we have a cheek to complain when we already made about £11.5M profit when we sold him. The same goes for the other 2. To be fair it looks like BR is gearing up to bring a striker in with Cole, Richards and Stokes being let go.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 16:08:28
I was told it was 10% of the fee or 25% of any profit, whichever gave us more. Either way we have already earned a good amount so I'm not to fussed.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 17:40:06
Kevbhoy
I agree, if we do not buy a striker I will be astonished. The appointment of BR was great business, now following that up with a striker who can excite the fans (and a lot more will be turning up) will be the icing on the cake.
A quality addition up top, Leigh griffiths to build on last years great return (hopefully improve in Europe) and young Ryan Christie to take his chance. This would be a good start with Roberts and Rogic providing the tricks. Left midfield is still weak for me, but there will be time for a change there soon enough.
Striker and keeper is my starter for ten.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 17:59:58
Pretty sure it's 10% of any fee over 12.5 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 23:47:55
I am pretty sure none of us know exactly if we will get anything and if we do how much.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Jun 2016 08:52:52
£11million for wanyama to Tottenham that's buttons for the EPL looks like we won't be making any money on that deal, on to better news I think pre season starts today for us so will be good toget the bhoys back and ready.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

18 Jun 2016 11:06:54
Celtic have 10% agreed if sold on to another club, and that will net Celtic 1 mill. Pre-season for Celtic players is Monday the 20th June, seen that in report that BR was looking forward to meeting the players and getting started.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Jun 2016 11:10:00
1.1 million

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 11:11:42
Is it not only profit we get 10% on? We sold him for 12.5m so there's no profit there. might be wrong but I think that's how it works.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 11:23:27
1.1 is what is being reported.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 10:15:18
Its because he only has a year left on his contract. Media are still reporting that we are due a chunk of the fee. Is that right Ed or are we only due a percentage of the profit made and not a percentage of the fee Southampton receive?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've never heard of any sell on clause where it is paid on the total transfer fee and I can't see a club as shrewd as Southampton accepting that kind of deal. Remember the Scottish media are the only media in Europe that thinks a contract can expire in November.}

18 Jun 2016 13:07:27
The 11 mill is good price as only 1 year left on contract. And it does seem we get the 1.1 mill as not agreed on profit only ( reports and papers, not claiming any inside info )

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Jun 2016 17:16:08
As Ed has said and been said for a while it was only a percentage of the profit after the £12.5mil paid. Haven't read a paper in years so have no interest in what the Scottish media write.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jun 2016 20:12:05

Striker and keeper for me.
We have enough midfielders and defenders (if fit) to qualify for the CL.
Then splash the cash on players only the lure of CL football can attract.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Jun 2016 16:56:42
seriously you think we need a keeper before a right back and at least 1 more centre half def don't agree with you there.

What the hell do we care if there is any news about Gerrard, the last thing we want is an over the hill ex EPL player with a very high opinion of himself joining us in any capacity . 3 years ago he would have been brilliant for us.
