I live in England and put up with the arrogance daily but why does Gary hooper have to leave so he can prove it in the epl. He's proved he can do it in the champions league . Regardless if he wants to leave 5 million is a complete joke

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I'd rather get 50 goals out of him in the next year and a half and then let him go for free.
£100,000 a goal.

Hi Ed & fellow Celts,

Firstly Ed (or anyone else)can you give me any info on what happened to the boys kamenar? I thought it was a season loan ?

Secondly i'd just like to put on record to Hooper as like many folks I think he's going, he's served us well and if he thinks its time to move on then so be it as long as we get appropriately compensated, I would say 7-8 mil plus ad-ons. Take care Hoops I hope you don't live to regret it but wherever you end up will determine that. What say you Ed?

HH
pfb79 {Ed007's Note - It looks like it was decided that Kamenar wasn't any better than Zaluska. If Hooper had got his way he would have been away in the summer, I expect him to stay until this summer now.}

I'm a Celtic fan and I hope hooper gos Norwich is a great club with great facility's and a great back room staff all players say they love it and I would like hooper to move on for him to prove hisself in the EPL long as wee get 6m + which his valuation is 6.6m we can buy another striker and have made a profit. All these haters on Norwich do my head in we support a club not a player. Lets get the deal done is he wants to go or he signes a new contract and go get someone else. Problem is I can see hooper being a success at Norwich so maybe if they add a sell on clause might sweeten the deal if he stays at Celtic he will never move to a big pl club as they won't take the risk on him.

Folks.......let not get our knickers in a twist over Hooper. The bottom line is, if a player wants to go he usually gets his wish. It's not up to us to decide if he goes or stays or even what the fee should be. It's our job to support our team regardless so by all means let's talk about it but please let's keep it sensible.

PS....l hope he stays but if he goes then we move on.

To the guy who said hooper is better thought of than jelavic now that made me laugh, jelavic is by far a better alround striker, hooper to me is a poacher and wi score goals where ever he goes hea got that instinct, the spl is a joke and that's why the valuation o the english is so low, and the new 12 12 18 league set up ai t going to help us any . 6-8m would be good business for hooper he's leaving celtic with little choice

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Ridiculous how you can jelavic is far better than hooper. I just can't see how you can come to that . Nonsense

Jelavic is a better player but Hooper is a better goalscorer kind of like miller and boyd at rangers or rooney and hernandez at utd

Guys, whilst the vast majority of us welcomed Strachan appointment, the idea of assistant appointment absolutely stinks of jobs for the boys and easy cash for mate who has been a complete failure, this whole money merry go round for same people is becomming absurd. If this was in the real business world papers would be having a field day.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Do think him being pals with gs might have helped but also think this is a good choice mm knows his stuff ye makes mistakes but the 2 off them together would bring a good bit of banter plus a hell of a lot of experience cha67

Mark McGhee as any type of manager is a failure. GREAT player, and I will never forget the impact he made v Hearts in the scottish cup semi in 88. But WHAT HAS HE DONE TO DESERVE THIS?? {Ed007's Note - I don't bother much with international football but he is only the assistant manager, I fail to see what the big deal is. I have never known the appointment of an assistant manager to cause so much furore. It could be worse, you could have George Formby like England.}

I would keep Hooper until the Summer unless we are offered at least £8 M + 30% minimum add ons.
We have approx £25 M coming in from the CL, including £3 M from the Juventus match and definately don't need the money.
When is there ever going to be a better chance to get a full set of Scottish medals. >

AS I promised earlier here are some more early memories of going to Celtic matches as a boy. (I'll say it first, yes I must have a good memory to go back that far lol)
My memories in the 60's are both bad and then not just good, but GREAT...
Round about 1961/62 I remember going with my mother to Robroyston hospital (my father had TB)
It was winter January and we had to take 3 buses to get there. On arriving I took my father's bedside radio earphones and listened to the Old Firm game we got humped 4-0 I think. With my dad seriously ill and then this result as a young boy I was depressed.
I remember getting home about 8pm that evening and witnessing my first, (but not my last) bout of sectarianism. Two of our neighbours, both men in their 40's were waiting on us returning. Bedecked in blue and white they gave me a rendering of all their vile songs. They could not wait to show their triumperlism against a 9 year old boy. Such brave men. They also knew ny dad was seriously ill, but their bigotry knew no bounds.
So when the Lisbon Lions came along, all us Celtic fans enjoyed it all the more.
Another Old Firm game about 1968 I think,
Celtic 5 -Rangers 1... oh the joy....
On the Sunday morning, my father now recovered, let me wear my new Celtic strip, (something he NEVER allowed because of the area we lived)
My 2 cousins and my 3 Tim pals all bedecked in our Celtic strips playing outside in the street.
The aforementioned neighbours and 3 other grown men came out to shout at us.They could not take seeing us in green and white laughing.
They actually went to my door to complain to my father, but he was ready for them, he told them we had to endure all their taunts over the years and now they had to get used to "Tims enjoying themselves" as he put it.
Best bit was seeing these 5 grown men look around as 4 of my father's Irish navvie pals came over, they were all built like the proverbial brickhouse, and seeing these "brave" gers men slink away still lives with me to this day.
No violence took place, just decent men standing up to the bullies who turned tail. hail hail Timalloy

I remember my first away game, my dad took me to Dens park, think it was round about 79-80 season, we got humped 5-1, still one of the freakiest results in Scottish football history, think we were top of the league at the time and Dundee were bottom, I remember Roy Aitken put us one up early doors and thinking it's going to be 4 or 5 the day, I was right but not the way I thought, I remember going back to the small village I lived in at the time dreading my paper round on monday morning. The reason I say this kind of goes along with Timalloys above post. On my paper round 9 times out of 10 i'd bump into the local postie doing his rounds, when I look back now I realise this man was a bigotted bully, I never really understood what he meant when he called me a wee pape or a fenian. Years later I seen this bloke in the pub and got speaking to him about when I was on my paper round i'd try and avoid him if Celtic lost and we had a laugh about it. Then he came out with a comment that's always stuck with me he said" I love my daughter to bits but if she ever went out with a catholic then she's no daughter of mine" As i've grown up i've learned Scotlands full of those shameful bigots who have passed it down to the next generation...........Stevie {Ed007's Note - I'm sure there are Rangers supporters with similar stories, Stevie.}

Awryt Ed mate, you no think it's a bit cheeky they offered the same amount for Hooper as they did with Danny Graham? Hooper is different class compared to him. Also What you think about cashing in on hooper and try bringing in that Emmanuel Emenike from Spartak? No any Idea of his value and wages but? Think he's a fantastic Striker. DaleBhoy1888 {Ed007's Note - Eminike has said that Man City are trying to sign him, how true that is I have no idea. Norwich are chancing their arm with Hooper, they would need to up their offer and I don't think they can afford to.
I still have my doubts there is any seriousness in their interest, they knew that bid would be rejected and it looks to their fans as if they are trying to bring in players.}

Been watching futsal since rogic signed, know not long but think its an excellent game to teach our youngsters, the low bounce ball stops them puntin it the fast pace gets them all good at passing and control and less players make every1 including defenders and goalies confident going past people shooting and passing only a thought but in years 2 come mayb we could produce the new messi thru this ! Wot you guys think ? Cha67

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I coach an under 11s team in Livingston, it's all about development and enjoyment for the kids. We use footsal balls as they are same size as the 4s that are used at that age group, like you said totally different bounce to them, slightly harder and heavier which does/should help with control and passing. The club doesn't enforce it but the individual teams that run from the club can do whatever within reason. We only use them 1 session from 4 and I wouldn't introduce them too early for the boys that have just stepped up from soccer 4s but they are good.

Bigbadjohn

Sounds like a good thing that its not every session as after all you get some cracking players who, ll play that constantly but can't translate it onto an 11s pitch, bit like the freestyle guys but everything in moderation cha67

Believable15 Unbelievable2

I seen that load of nonsense.He also claims nobody helped them! That would be apart from the granting of a "special licence" to enable them to actually start the season.Then there was the fact that they should have had to re-apply to enter the league system, clubs with audited accounts were by passed to facilitate this.The transfer embargo was also altered to make sure that they, a club owing football debts, could bolster their squad! His analogy of the school bully was particularly stupid.rangers WERE the school bully! Running up debts to smaller kids with no intention of paying the debt back! Id like to see celtic get rid of rogne, mccourt, zaluska, miku, lassad and stokes, I really don't think the team would suffer much and would free up some wages. On another note I've always been a louis saha fan and I believe sunderland are letting him go, I know he is 34 now but a short term deal would be fantastic for both parties, he is vastly experienced and i'm sure a club like celtic could get some good performances again out of the frenchman and I highly doubt he would be daunted playing in the spl.

Believable1 Unbelievable13

Too old would be my initial shout but it seems he is happy to accept a pay/play deal.His scoring record seems to diminish with every club he goes to though, so I don't think so........green jhedi

Nick Rodger in the Herald today is reflecting my thoughts on Rogic having come from a futsal background and the excitement it is giving me from when I first found out he played that format of the game. Having watched futsal quite a bit I was staggered at the pace in which players are able to control the ball and pass it on with such accuracy. The technique and vision of some of these guys is incredible. I'd recommend watching it its usually on Eurosport. Also wondered why so many of these such gifted players weren't making more money playing 11-a-side professionally. Then I discovered, as Nick points out, that Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi and such like all played it as youngsters. I'm not going to count any chickens but if Rogic turns out to be as good as i'm thinking and hoping, John Park wants to get himself down to Futsal games more often.

ED007, Green Jhedi I was thinking of posting about something similar. My uncle used to take me to Celtic games as my father had poor health. In those days I lived in Kinning Park (like Larkhall "enemy territory") We first got the supporters bus in Admiral Street, bus attached to the Wallace Bar (only tim pub on Paisley Road west up to Ibrox)
But my uncle was in first throes of alcoholism and we frequently missed bus.As he stayed for one last drink. We then dashed for Paisley road Toll to get the old Trolley bus to Bridgeton.
Sometimes if we were lucky, a Celtic bus would pass by, yes a double decker with the open entrance, they never stopped, just slowed down and me and my uncle had to run and jump on.
These buses were always packed but very friendly and as a young boy, I found it fascinating, listening to all the songs on the way to the ground. Yes and all the "not PC" songs were belted out.
I will post more memories later, if ED007 allows. Timalloy

I really have a bad feeling about the juventus ties, not because of how good they are on the field, you can pick holes all day in their team, but they have got to be the most corrupt football team ever. I hope celtic don't get shafted by a dodgy official via a red card or penalty.

Its a sad way to look at things And I know someone will reply mentioning the Dundee Utd pen fiasco (which I admit I was shocking) but you can't just assume that every questionable decision against you is due to a bribed ref or some other agenda.

Why would the current bun run a story about temple ton at new Rangers getting picked by Strachan for a Scotland cap? Utter nonsense fourth tier player getting into national team would be such an obvious wrong decision. The lad needs to get himself into a top tier team to demonstrate competence at the top level for selection for national team.
Only Jabba could be behind such nonsense but shame on newspapers for covering even the most nonsense stories being put out by Rangers instead of ignoring them.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

He wasn't good enough or consistent enough to get a cap at Hearts. So because he has scored a few goals against queens park and Berwick now he's international class. What a pile of sh*te!! There's only one player at Rangers who comes even close to getting a shout and that's Lee Wallace, because he has played at international level and made a decent account of himself. I would have him in the squad as the second choice left back if I'm honest. None of the rest are even close to getting a shout. Ian Black getting the token gesture cap to appease the Rangers fans was embarrassing and showed levein up for what he is. Can't imagine what Lee Wallace must have been thinking when he heard Black was picked but not him. Especially as he has showed no sort of form at all since he moved to Rangers and even the zombies give him pelters week in week out because he's so bad.

Agree6 Disagree0

Couldnt get a cap playin spl football with hearts so wot makes them think he's good enough 2 get 1 now playin against teams like berwick and elgin people need 2 lay off that acid its the exact same situation with ian black few months ago the guys is and never will be international class nothin bt a thug
