Ah Welsbhoy the voice of reason amongst all the doom merchants.
Some only come on here to post negative stuff about Celtic (Dafabet if the cap fits. )
We are still nine points clear, still in europe and enjoying the Scottish Cup in our run to (hopefully) a double treble yet all we get on here is moaning minnies, get a grip nay sayers and do what the genuine fans do SUPPORT CELTIC.

The usual doom and gloom merchants. Having been through the Barren years and the highlight of the weekend was singing Always look on the bright side of life! How would the younger generation feel watching the talent's of Regi Blinker, Ian Andrews, Wayne Biggins, Rafeial Schidte, Tony Cascarino, Andy Payton, Steve Guppy etc. Spoiled nowadays and think we have the divine right to win every home game 3 or 4 nil.

Agree1 Disagree1

Though I agree with your post Pud, I think you are being very harsh on Steve Guppy. He done alright for us and was a cracking crosser of the ball.

That was awful if that's the back up squad we're in bother 94 mins and one shot on target against dross.

ED i don't know how your not on medication having to put up with all the mood swings on here.

Guys, roll back to Monday. I tell you all that we will beat Zenit but draw today and you will all take it and be pleased. So why are we moaning about today when we field a team that some the players aren't even 2nd choice. And maybe i am being positive but there was good play today but just couldn't put it in the net.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There always a bit of a negative reaction when we don't win easily by a few goal. Even though I think a lot of it is an over reaction everyone's entitled to their opinion, I'm more a glass half full type of guy and can understand why Rodgers made the changes he did with the squad flying out tomorrow - AND even though it obviously didn't work out the way any of us wanted I think all the talk about not winning the league etc is ridiculous.
Rodgers simply looked at the bigger picture and gambled today but when you look at the injuries we have he had one hand tied behind his back, Ralston would have played, Compper would have played in this game, Roberts or Forrest depending on who would have played on Thursday there, Griffiths would have at least started today's game as would Hayes. If we had a fully fit squad the team out there today would have been a lot different, he even had Rogic playing in Brown's position today!}

18 Feb 2018 21:36:44
Itā€™s a pain for traveling fans to experience these game experiments, Ā£750 down the toilet and two days lost off work is no comfort. But ah ho Iā€™ll do it again without hesitation. Hh āœŠšŸ‡®šŸ‡ŖšŸ€.

We have been spoiled with last season there was even a clown on the radio today saying Kouassi was rotten and he didnā€™t even watch the game we have the league won the league cup won nice draw in the quarters of Scottish and just beat a decent team in Europe and thereā€™s still moans.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 23:37:56
I think all the coaching staff at Celtic need to try and get a grip of this situation.
I know there were a lot of changes today but there was still some good attacking players out there, players like Sinclair, Rogic, Forrest, Dembele, Musonda, and Edouard were all on the pitch at one time or another yet we created very little. This has been going on for a while now regardless of what team we put out.
Teams are really in our faces this season but we should have enough quality in the squad to overcome this yet week in week out we can't seem to get to grips with it at all.
Last season we won the treble because the football we played was excellent and streets ahead of everyone else, you get the impression that this year we are going to win the league as much as the other teams are so poor rather than us being that good, we should be doing better than this.
I hope there isn't any unrest behind the scenes, but the players don't look as if they are enjoying their football, whether it's heavy defeats in the Champions league, tiredness, or team selection that's the cause I don't know, but we need to get it sorted.
Teams like St Johnstone shouldn't be coming to Celtic park twice in a season and going away unbeaten.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Feb 2018 00:35:14
You can't win all your games and sometimes you'll even lose. We didn't we drew and are having our most successful season (on track) . With injuries and rotation we still didn't lose. I can't understand people getting all bent out of shape.

Cover must be brought in for kt.
Seems like everyone likes reading the happy
, positive posts when the team have played well.
Well they were pish today and people should be allowed to say so.
Things will be a lot clearer after our next 3 games and hopefully our lead will be back in double figures.

We already have cover for KT as Compper can play LB but unfortunately he is injured. Pretty sure Gamboa can play there as well.

That being said, I agree that his best position is further up the park.

18 Feb 2018 19:02:44
Reading all the negative posters on here after a poor display.
Yes, Brendan maybe made too many changes which meant team never got into any sort of a rhythm, and after the high of Thursday, I realise a lot of fans were disappointed by today, but get a grip.
St Johnstone had 5 or 6 players booked I lost count, they were helped by a poor referee performance as usual. Maybe team had one eye on Thursday understanable, but we are still 9 points clear and I say to all the doom and gloom merchants on here, there is no way Aberdeen or the new club will claw back those points, they would have to go unbeaten till end of season and Celtic would have to lose 3 games and draw another one with our superior goal difference.
Trust the manager and the players to get the job done.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

18 Feb 2018 19:21:21
We are a professional outfit and talk of one eye on Thursday is garbage. We have now drawn twice with St J and with all due respect should be beating teams like them at home. The team selection today was to rest some players for Thursday but these guys who came in should be busting a gut to prove to the manager they should be first choice.
It's not the end of the world. We're still in pole position for the league and it would take a major crash to lose it from here but it is so frustrating to watch especially the fans who fork out every year for season tickets.
This month and next will be a very crucial time for our honours this year.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 20:20:14
Tim if you have a season ticket then surely you must feel short changed watching that dross and yes it was dross and it's happened all too regular at Celtic park in domestic matches this season. Yes i think we'll win the treble but we pay top dollar and I for one would like to see better than that. i couldn't care less what team we put on the park it should always beat dross like today and we should be strolling away with this league rather than stumbling over the line like Ronny deila.

Agree4 Disagree1

18 Feb 2018 18:38:28
Far too many changes today. Poor result. Never acceptable. The league should always be priority number 1.

Back to earth with a bang.
That line up was a head scratcher.
Complacency will be the only thing that will stop and today was one of those moments.
Yes I will be called a panic merchant but with our league form, and sitting here tonight can everyone say with hand on heart that the league is in the bag.
The next 3 game could put us out of site but it could also put us in the shite.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

18 Feb 2018 18:03:02
I can see your point as we have drawn five HOME games already (two against St Johnstone) and it does seem that the manager and players do take three points in certain games for granted.
I also think that we are very thin on the ground to attempt who;esale changes like this as this Thursday-Sunday scenario has affected us this way in the past and it definitely gives BR a reminder about playing his strongest side where possible and keep the focus.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:09:00
Have we got another week of this pish? Yes hand on heart the league is in the bag, wish all the panic merchant panty wetters would stop coming out with this every time we drop a couple of points. We're actually a point further ahead in the league than we were on Friday.

Agree4 Disagree3

18 Feb 2018 18:32:11
My take is that we have rarely got out of second gear this season. However, we are still 9 points clear in the league and seem to raise our game when we play the other teams that have potential to challenge. Not only that we are starting to get players back and I would be surprised if we don't finish as winners with a double digit lead. If we take full points from our next 3 league games we will have buried the competition, beat Morton and we should only be two games away from back to back trebles.

Yes we were below par today, which is normal after a hard fought European game but the ref didn't help our cause by not punishing persistent fouling. That being said we are 1 point further ahead of our nearest rivals after this weekend's results. Personally I am glad Rodgers rested our main players today as Thursday's game is far more important.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:49:14
That was a very flat performance and the atmosphere at the ground was poor. After hearing the starting x 11, I still thought that Team was good enough to get us 3 points ( how wrong was I) .
We certainly missed the influence of Scott Brown. He wouldā€™ve let a few of the players know they needed to get their finger out. Weā€™ll see the difference with him against Aberdeen.
It just wasnā€™t a good day at the Office.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 19:14:31
Too many changes and a few of the changes canā€™t cut it. That was clear in a piss poor show. I wish he would give the team a run without so many changes. Got it spot on last Thursday, totally blew it today. 7 changes is just nuts and cost us two points. Poor poor show.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Feb 2018 20:04:32
A second rate celtic team should be beating at least the bottom 8 teams, we are not talking a second rate tic team today, lot a big players and talent out there and on the bench. If a manager has to make so any changes then it should be done gradually, say 3 changes to the start team from the team that played and win on Thursday, and if we go goals up then introduce another 3 as subs during the game. we can't beat a team in Europe and then don't get a result in our own league then blame the Europe game or tired players, i know teams are sussing us out, but we must suss the out aswell. We had a couple of chances which could have swung it the other way for us today. WE just seen the future celtic, hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 17:03:23
BR needs to take most of the blame for today's result. Too many changes yet again leading to a disjointed performance.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

18 Feb 2018 17:38:24
Rubbish he had to rest players The squad is to young, if he is to blame for anything it is buying young talent without enough experienced players to cover injuries.

Agree3 Disagree4

18 Feb 2018 17:40:52
Well just back in from what I can only call a pathetic performance! That was everything that Thursday wasnā€™t! Slow, lack of imagination, didnā€™t look near scoring! I know there was a lot changes but we should be winning comfortably against a team who have been on a woeful run! Again Sinclair has the chance to come in and show why he should have started on Thursday! And again for me musonda flatters to deceive! Is he a winger a number 10 or neither of them! I said it in a post the other day that I fear the day broony and KT arenā€™t there anymore! Itā€™s a flat uninspired team without those to lads! Frustrating is an understatement tonite!

Agree6 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:01:25
It was garbage. The league is far more important than the Europa League so a full strength team should have started. Get the game won then rest players.

Agree6 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:07:42
Sorry jonace but I donā€™t buy the idea that we must rest multiple players after every European game. Especially not 7 out of 10 outfield players when the game was in Glasgow and the players are just back from a break in Dubai which BR stated would ā€œrecharge the batteriesā€.

Agree6 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:06:34
We were poor today Kev HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 18:38:00
@Kevbhoy - let me ask you, would you have preferred to win today or on Thursday? Yes it would have been nice to win both but I am in agreement with Rodgers that Thursday is more important than today.

Also keep in mind that most of the players rested today have either played a ridiculous number of games (Tierney, Lustig and Forrest) or are coming back from injury (Rogic and Demebele) . I am pretty sure our sports science team will be monitoring every player in the squad and have a good idea when players need rested to avoid injury or maintain performance.

Yes it was disappointing to not win but I doubt it will prevent us from retaining the league and making it 7 in a row.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Feb 2018 19:20:39
I canā€™t believe some of the moaning on here, I thought I was a half empty glass type of guy but some of you need to relax. We played a tough game against Good opposition on Thursday night, we have probably played at least 10 more games than Aberdeen or Sevco. And we have a long journey and a time difference to deal with the early part of this week. Then a big game against Good opposition, if we lose by a few on Thursday having played most of our starting 11 more would be on moaning. I personally feel we have gave ourselves a chance for Thursday even though it will still be a tough game, but why not give ourselves the best chance possible. People are saying we can lose the next 3 league games but get positive. Iā€™d be fairly confident we will be further away in the league by the time the next 3 games come up.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Feb 2018 19:26:10
RAW I have no doubt at all that weā€™ll win the league. In fact I reckon weā€™ll just about have it put to bed after the next three league games. In my opinion 7 changes was too much.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 19:50:15
I agree that 7 changes is a tad excessive but I think Rodgers has prioratised Thursday's match, so I am prepared to cut him some slack.

Obviously people are perfectly entitled to vent their frustration about today's match and I will be the first to admit that we have under performed this season. However, we have half a chance of reaching the last 16 of Europa, should win the league, have already won the league cup and are only 3 games away from winning the Scottish cup. When you consider the amount of injuries we have, I think it is a bit harsh to criticise the team too much.

Today was another reminder that we cannot chop and change a winning formula, especially after playing so well all over the park.
It happened after the Hertz game and we lost to Kilmarnock and here we are again, dropping needless points at home to weak opponents.
Last season we were able to shuffle the pack as-and-when-required as the squad were on top form, full of confidence - and unbeatable.
However, we are still lacking the consistency and performance that we are more than capable of and the amount of chances we miss each week are a cause for concern as well.

Cjb77 your at the wind up son! That today wasnā€™t good enough I think we can all agree with that, but to say u canā€™t see us winning any of our next 3 games isnā€™t just daft, itā€™s utter Shoite! Because sevco have scored loads a goals against Ayr and Hamilton we should be scared! Ayr a league one team and Hamilton 2nd bottom of the league! Have a word with urself pal! The problem I have with is is the constant chopping and changing, but Iā€™m under no illusions that our first choice 11 wipes the floor with any of the also rans coming up! Like one of the deluded said above, Celtic havenā€™t won 4 games in a row this season! But weā€™re still way ahead of the rest! So what does that say about how Shoite they are! Donā€™t believe the hype mate! The only thing that can stop us is ourselves, by being inconsistent and unable to get out of 2nd gear! It certainly wonā€™t be any of the diddy teams weā€™ll be playing over the next couple of months!

Who has been your favourite Celtic captain in recent times?

McNeil

Boyd
Lambert
McNamara
Lennon
McManus
Brown.

Celtic captain poll

18 Feb 2018 13:58:35
I went for Aitken as he was hard as nails and used to love when he charged down the park, battering opposition players out the way and finish by banging one in.

I know he was not the best player in the options or the most successful captain or even my favourite player from the list but he was always an inspiration to the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Feb 2018 14:49:00
You cannot see passed McNeil but you have to respect Lennon and Brown for their winning mentality But my favorite was MacStay and had he had a great manager in charge he could have achieved anything. If he had played under Stein, O'Neil or Rogers what could we have done.

I was at the game Thursday and in all honesty I think it was a fantastic performance only negative for me and probably a lot of you would be the refs! I was honestly half expecting him to give them a soft penalty by the end of the game. Few of their players were lucky not to receive 2nd yellow cards or yellow cards at all with the tackles and blatant hacking going on.

Morning all, just back from walking the dug and it's baltic so wrap up for the game! Really looking forward to today, first time this season i have been like this, but do we freshen and who?

From the back, i think we might see young Hendry in for lusty as he has previous for dropping to right back. This gives our favourite sevco baiter a chance to rest those skinny legs!

From middle to front, Musonda in for Cal Mac? Callum was outstanding midweek so for me this seems a good call. Rogic in for Broony is a handy shout as well, the big man needs game time.

Then there's Moussa. looked to be just about there midweek, very sharp in his link up, so do we run him or rest him? I would go Edouard, who looked pretty good when replacing Moussa's physicality, and run Moussa with 20-30 mins to go. Or start him for the first hour! There is also the agricultural challenge so readily used by the saints to worry about.

Finally. Kouassi. Anybody catch this kid's tweets? I am a Lion, i fight for my team mates and go to war for my team. Jeeze, wonder if he's ready for Ibrokes?
