Evening all.

Been having a debate in pub and work as to who has been our best BIG man up front.

Mark Viduka
Chris Sutton
John Hartson

Who would you choose and why?

On talent it would be viduka every time but on attitude and teamwork it would be sutton

Overall I would say Sutton as I thought he brought more to the team. He has a great partnership with Larsson, brilliant in the air, great will to win and great at tenderising defences for us. Not only that he was a good goal scorer and always worked hard for the team.

Hartson was possibly a better striker than Sutton but he had fitness issues and too often he would contribute nothing to the team other than when he scored.

Viduka was probably the most skillful of the three but his attitude stunk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one. I preferred Viduka as a player but as he wasn't with us very long I'd say Hartson for me. That goal against Liverpool was one of the best moments of my life. Sutton was a class act too mind.

Agree3 Disagree0

Big bad john every day of the week. Sutton on his day was unplayable but when things were'nt going his way he'd start moanin like a big jessie. Hartson just got on with it. And was more prolific. don't get me started on marko!

Agree1 Disagree0

Big Sutty all day. Vidukas heart was never at Celtic, we were just the nearest lily pad to the English pond, so he's a non starter. Hartson was a great player with a tremendous work ethic and he played for the team every time, love the big welsh dragon, but injuries restricted his career a wee bit too much. Sutton was a real tough *******. Could dish out with the very best, and when they gave it back it fired him right up. A very clever player, selfless work for the strike partner he played with, Shearer acknowledges as much and king Henke loved playing with Sutton as his foil. Suttons awareness and movement makes him my choice

Agree0 Disagree0

Sutton for sure. Viduka had plenty of talent but he was a mercenary and spat the dummy out to get away. Not a team player. Sutton worked hard off the ball as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harts on and viduka both had the talent to be the best but wasted a lot if it. Sutton for me, remember Henrick had him down as the best striker he played with. (Not Etu or Roony) also this was a guy who was such an all rounder that when we were short if center halfs for a game against rangers, he Mon played him there and he got man of the match. Mon also often played him center mid so he could fit all three in Hartson, Sutton, Larson. So a way more professional and complete player in my opinion. Markie

Agree0 Disagree0

First post although been reading for 5 years+. I'd have liked to have seen big Jan added to this list, He certainly made a good contribution in his 3 seasons at CP & scored important goals at Tannadice & the winner against the other lot. Stats will show Hartson scored more goals than Sutton but Sutton's overall game was better especially with the amount off assists for Larsson over his 6 seasons. Hartson was just unlucky that Sutton and Larsson were the perfect partnership but he did still have a great career at Celtic and is a top player. Like Sutton a Legend. Keep up the good work with the site & Merry Xmas to you all. JCGE

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgot to add. Sutton's header at Ajax for me is what his play was all about, 3 passes in the build up play before scoring an incredible header. His hold up play & movement for this goal was typical Sutton. Class act.

We all know ed that Mr Griffiths is not your favorite person in the world but his gesture to replace presents stolen from a house in Edinburgh I think shows he's more than a ned like most people think of him. Maybe bring part of the Celtic family is changing him a little plus the guy turns out to be a Hearts season ticket holder lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The Krays gave money to old folk in need and loved their mum, Peter Tobin done free DIY jobs at numerous chapels and look at the charity work Jimmy Savile done, so what's your point?
As for your Celtic family nonsense, that makes me want to (puke) Most people I've met who use the 'Celtic family' term without being ironic is usually female or a moron, people who use it should be banned from Celtic Park for embarrassing the rest of the support.}

Haha come on Ed I think that's slightly unfair. Griffiths has done a genuinely nice thing here and should be commended for it. It also reflects well on Celtic in a week where one of our players' racism appeal was thrown out and UEFA look to charge us for the behaviour of our fans.
Get some Christmas spirit down you!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Pity he wasn't so keen to look after his own kids.}

Everyone makes mistakes. Do you know if he look after his kids now? Like I said, its a genuinely good thing he's done here. Some people are perhaps too stubborn to see it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Or some people perhaps don't look at everything with green tinted specs on. It's unbelievable some of the things some CFC fans seem to condone just because someone plays for the club.}

Just thought it was a nice touch ed. People are really quick to jump down his throat after all the daft things he's done which there is plenty of but credit where credit is due. Don't think LG is in the same league as the 3 people you have mentioned. With that reaction you would think some had nicked your Crimbo lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Is that your own opinion or did you check with the 'Celtic family' if that's ok to think it?}

Well I'm not going to apologise for backing a Celtic player. Especially when he's made this fantastic gesture. Good on him, hopefully the club has been a good influence on him. After all, isn't charitable actions what it was founded on?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Batter in, nobody asked you to apologise for anything anyway, and since the club's not having much influence on his playing career at least something good's coming out of him being here!
To be fair it's better seeing him do things like this on social media than telling people to go back to their own country. Has the 'Celtic family' discussed a statue of Griffiths being erected yet?}

I'm a big boy with my own opinion ed lol. With this much Christmas spirit in you you'd be perfect for Scrooge in panto. The boys made a very good gesture that's all I'm saying.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What's Christmas spirit got to do with anything? If Christmas spirit means pretending to like people you can't stand then I'll give it a swerve, that's just being two faced.}

Ed 007 . It's nice to see you on the wind-up in this season of good will.

Agree0 Disagree0

I enjoyed following that wee thread and have to agree with Ed on this one.

Agree0 Disagree1

Well done to LG on scoring 2 goals in the under 21s match against Sunderland last night. Hope he gets a run in the first team but RD obviously prefers the one up front. Having said that, I'd rather have him than Stokes in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

The development side are doing very well in that tournament . We are in a good position to qualify and the team is playing the same high pressing game as the first team . I hear our Captain Brown is travelling with this team and helping with the coaching .

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go with this celtic family/minded pi$h again. Really boring. Regardless anyones views on LG I don't think he will give a rats about "celtic family" chat. LG is a diehard hibee, celtic is his employer. If I was playing for Manchester United I personally couldn't care less if I was "part of their family". All that matters to me is celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is the Celtic family pish in this thread . This thread is about the development side fine performance yesterday against Sunderland's development .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Read the thread from the top.}

The Celtic family comment was made in one post. The whole point of the thread was about Leigh Griffiths superb gesture the other day. Ed has unsurprisingly not decided to see this but instead dragged up past misdemeanours.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd say everyone who comes on here can read without needing a running commentary and smart arse remarks from doughballs like you. Unsurprisingly Ed doesn't like deadbeat dads, racists or bullying thugs playing for CFC, it's bad enough some of the absolute tossers in our support without having them as players as well. Don't judge everyone by your own gutter level standards.}

You don't know me Ed and name calling just isn't necessary. Now we all get that you're not a fan of LG. Fine. But the guy did a good thing so instead of dragging up his past again why not just say nothing. I've been reading this site for years and don't appreciate being insulted on what is a good page for discussion. If I've taken your comments the wrong way then I'll take it as the banter intended.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You can take it any way you want to, I couldn't care less.}

Chris02 probably best you take time to read thread before you comment. Seems to be a habit of yours at times.

Henrikstounge ever heard the saying 2 wrongs don't make a right? No matter what LG does I for one will no forget disgrace he has brought upon club with his prior actions. Ah that's right! He has get out of jail free card. "celtic family" pmsl

Agree0 Disagree0

No matter what LG does, he will always be a wee ned who after 2 pints thinks he's Jean Claude Van Damme and can take on the world. We are fast approaching festive season and I wouldn't be surprised to hear any stories involving the thug

Agree0 Disagree0

It wasn't me who mentioned the 'celtic family' DN30. Maybe you should take your own advice and read the thread before commenting.
2 wrongs don't make a right, but in this case he has done right not wrong so don't really understand what you're talking about

Agree0 Disagree0

Who said you mentioned it Henrik? It is in the opening post of thread by Daz. Again probably a good idea to read thread before commenting.

The wrongs are $hit he done previously, so no matter what he does he will always be a disgrace.

Agree0 Disagree0

The way you structured your comment suggested that.
Your comment made no sense but as he's a celtic player I'm going to back him in this case. He's made this great gesture and had a pretty good week for celtic.
As for your comment saying he will always be a disgrace, well I'm saddened. He may well have turned a corner here but with 'supporters' like yourself he can do no right. I assume u didn't cheer his goal this afternoon

Agree0 Disagree0

As I've said Henrik, not once did I suggest you said that. Structure was straight forward and evidently clear it was related to initial statement.

Supporters like me? The supporters who are expected to dig deep for football merchandise, tickets for games and expected to take up promotions to raise funds? Aye your right! Supporters like me don't want to see their hard earned cash used to fund neds like LG wages and fuel his many nights of bringing shame on the club. How many times is that he has been in trouble since he arrived that we know of? Be interesting to hear your views after next fiasco.
