I was right with my assumption, the majority of my fellow Celtic on this site are more qualified than the selective few that are ignorant to the real situation at Paradise, I'm only quoting what I was told, Dr John Reid and the board are far from happy about our financial position, therefore players will have to be sold before we can buy, why can't some people grasp the situation, nine players in, £11m spent so far, and after the Mowbray fiasco of spending £14m last year, it's no wonder, we have to curtail our expenditure, I rest my case, believe it if you want"
=====================================
Last year was our worst for about 10 years and we lost £2.3M (including the deals for mowbray & co), our total debt is about £5.85M.
You said that mowbray spent £14M, are you forgetting that we sold quite a few players and also got loan fees for some last year, our total net spend last year on players was under £2.5M.

Our board have reduced our debt from £35M when MON left to under £6M, not bad going. This season we have signed 9 players:
Mulgrew -free
Cha Du Ri - free
Ledley - Free
Big Danny - Free
Murply - £800K
Juarez - £2.5M
Kayal -£1.5M
Izagurrie - £600K
Hooper - £2.4M
Total - £7.7M

Players sold
Boruc -£1.5M
McManus - £1.5M
McMgeady - £9.8M
Caddis & ferry - £450K
Sheridan £300K
Total - £13.75M

So we could wipe out all club debt at the moment if needed with the extra £6M, however the club will look to bring in a few more players as well as shipping out players that are no longer required.
Although we have lost out on some experienced players i'm happy with the names that we have tried to get, guys like cambell, james & bellamy would have been great for us but sadly we didn't get them.

Anyway, Neil has said that he would like to bring in Shay Given (SSN), we know that City won't deal with other EPL teams so i think we're looking good for him.

Before any of the blue nose mob come on about wages, our wages bill dropped by about £200K a week from last season after all the loan deal players, players freed and players sool all left. So far i would guess our 9 new players are taking about £100K-£110K a week in wages

As a true Celtic fan I would hope that the mods. on this site would start pulling the bigoted posts that seem to be appearing, calling opposing fans HUNS is sectarian and the true fans of Celtic fc should start to object about these illiterate bigots who shame our great club.

Why do you only list half of the case when trying to make your point? You seem to have went to the other extreme from the people thinking because we got £9m for McGeady we can buy anyone and everyone. You mention the expenditure but not whats been brought in. We've spent £11m but brought in more than that. The figures announced have us at £5m debt, the spending so far won't be included till next year so £11m out and roughly £15m in plus the wages difference, that's the debt virtually wiped out, if we have a better season, say win the league and get through the group stages then we'll make more money than we did last year too. This all sounds simple and verifiable, and points to the opposite conclusion than you've drawn.

You pigs must be having a laugh com on Nikica Jelavic YOU HAVE AS MUCH CHANCE OF GETTING HIM AS AYR UTD DO OF GETTING RONALDO! He will be a RANGERS player, YOU are just s* tin yourself because you know he if far far far better than any of the pigs you have in your ranks.

Am I the only one who thinks that selling Fortune would be absolute madness??

No one else in the team creates more chances and carries the goal scoring threat that he does. In my opinion he is one of our best players and selling him would be a massive waste.

Lads, don't get too excited about the prospect of jelovic joing your beloved hoops.
the only reason he wants to go to Rangers is so he can play in the champions league.
now, lets see, can celtic offer that. . no. . AGAIN.

Since Celtic released there figures today why is it that Rangers fans are obsessed with having a go at Celtic FC? If I was a bear I'd be more interested in the debt at the PIGGERY! That is debt! Rising at an alarming rate. It'll take more than Champions League money, it'll take a bloody miracle to save them they are doomed, my heart bleeds! The jungle drums are beating out that even more first teamers are heading out the exit door, * * what a way to assemble a squad to defend the SPL title!

Oh and rumour has it Tommy Smith is in the post, please make this happen it would contradict all the bile they have spouted about Celtic's signings.

Re: its fellow fans like you that make some of us look like idiots. We should be a little worried about the debt it has increased by 4m in the last year and without champions league money it aint gonna get any better (mcgeady transfer will cover CL losses) however it could be years before either old firm are in the CL again and with our rather worringly high wage bill this figure could continue to increase. rangers are obv in debt but they have reduced this by a fair bit (couldnt tell u how much but it was in the range of 9/10 million). There is loads of pressure on Lennon this year and I aint totally convinced that he will get the better of geriatic Smith who like it or not knows what he is doing and will have a very similar season to the previous ones.

18 Aug 2010 11:37:01

Ok, so i admit celtic and rangers are definatly not what they used to be. That has been proved by the fact that celtic have lost out on players to newcastle, cardiff and bristol city this transfer window. So i think the only way forward is to become a team like benfica or santos who are known for bringing up players and selling them on for huge transfer fee`s. Take benfica for example ramires, fabio contraeo(spelling), angel di maria and david luiz these players where bought for peanuts and now are all rated at around the 20million mark. Then there is santos who`s upbringing up players speaks for itself. Dermot Desmond needs to get his hand in his pocket and invest in better scouts in countrys all over the world and buy them before they are 18 so they will probally stay under the radar of big teams.

One thing about Zander Diamond is that he is a Celtic Fan, was in a bar in Tenerife, watching the Hearts v Gretna Scottish Cup Final and he was saying that he dreamt of playing for Celtic and I quote, "Got texts from all his mates for halfing Shota Arveladze at Ibrox and getting sent off! "

Good defender, no-nonsense.
